Clair A. Knoop, 81, died Friday (Nov. 3, 1995) at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Zion
Lutheran Church, Rockford, with the Rev. John Albrecht officiating.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Schumburg
Funeral Home, Rockford.

Clair A. Knoop was born Feb. 16, 1914 near Marble Rock.

Survivors include his wife, Gerry of Marble Rock; two sons,
Roger Stover of Dows, and Bill Knoop of Mason City; one daughter,
Nancy Clifford of Clear Lake; one sister, Pearl Knoop of Marble
Rock; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one daughter,
and two grandchildren.

4, 1995) at Heritage Care Center.

Charles F. (Dick) LaCoste
RUDD 

Charles F. (Dick) LaCoste, 79, of 912 Hampton St., died Friday
(Nov. 3, 1995) at Good Shepherd Health Care Center, Mason City,
of diabetic complications.

There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place.

His children will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Scheckler
Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Sheckler
Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Richard Pippert officiating.

Charles Frederick was born April 11, 1916 in Rudd, the son of
Fred LaCoste and Helen (nee) Stiles LaCoste.  He graduated from
Rudd High School in 1934.  On March 1, 1944 he married Betty Woelfer, 
and
they were the parents of Michael, Marilyn, Patricia, Ronald,
Richard, Polly and Chad.

In May of 1988, Charles married Wilma (nee) Green Strickler.  Charles
was a dairy farmer, truck driver, and had various other jobs in the
Rudd-Rockford area.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma LaCoste of Rudd; his children,
Marilyn Grygo and her husband, Tom of Nekoosa, Wis.,
Patricia Tuberty and her husband, Tim of Massillon, Ohio, Ronald 
LaCoste
and his wife, Jeanne of Rockford, Richard LaCoste and his wife,
Nancy of Mason City, Polly Schmidt of Nora Springs, and Chad
LaCoste of Floyd; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Michael.

ST. ANSGAR  

Frances M. Teshak, 82, died Friday (Nov. 3, 1995) at a friend's
residence in Mason City.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.  There will
be no visitation, the body was cremated.  Schroeder and Sites
Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.  Burial of the ashes
will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.

Frances M. Teshak was born March 8, 1913 in St. Ansgar.

Survivors include her special friend, Kenneth Harding of Mason
City; and two cousins, Don Albertson of Sarasota, Fla., and
Barbara Ostlund of Annandale, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

CHARLES CITY  

Mable Peterson, 98, died Friday (Nov. 3, 1995) at the Riverside
Chautauqua Guest Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Hauser
Funeral Home with the Rev. Karen Behling of St. John Evangelical
Lutheran Church, officiating.  Burial will be in the Riverside
Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hauser
Funeral Home, and will continue from 9 a.m. until time of services
on Tuesday.

Mable Ida Jurrens Peterson was born Oct. 8, 1897 in Floyd County.

Survivors include one niece, Mary Marth of Charles City; and
one sister-in-law, Vera Jurrens of Charles City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother.

Helen Boyken, 93, died Friday (Nov. 3, 1995) at the Titonka
Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Immanuel
Lutheran Church with the Rev. Virtus Stoffregan officiating.
Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the
Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home.

Helen Boyken was born Nov. 4, 1901 in Wellsburg.

Survivors include three nephews, Elmer Boyken, Dean Boyken,
and Roger Boyken; and one niece, Fern Thornbury of Woden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and six
brothers.

Marvin Chapman, 58, died Friday (Nov. 3, 1995) at North Iowa
Mercy Health Center, Mason City.

OSAGE  

Vera L. Chehock, 91, of Osage died Friday (Nov. 3, 1995) at
the Faith Home, Osage.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Rock Creek
Lutheran Church, rural Osage, with the Rev. Roger Hoppenworth
officiating. Inurnment will be in Rock Creek Cemetery.

The body was cremated. There is no visitation. Champion Funeral
Home, Osage, is in charge of arrangements.

Vera L. Chehock was born July 20, 1904 near Portland.

Survivors include three daughters, Jean Barland of West Bend,
Wis., Barbara Berner of Mason City, and Frances Nielsen of S.
St. Paul, Minn.; one son, Clyde R. Chehock of Cocolalla, Idaho;
six sisters, Reva McMahon of Darian, Ill., Marcele Wald of Yuba
City, Calif., Frances Funk of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jessie Graham
of Silverdale, Wash. and June Davenport of Mason City, and
Joanne Clapper, Santa Anna, Calif.; three brothers, Roger Dunbar of
Elkhart, Ind., Gale Dunbar, of Wichita, Kan., and Gordon Dunbar
of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two step-
grandchildren;
and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one grandson.

Charles `Wayne' Caywood
MASON CITY  

Charles `Wayne' Caywood, 56, of 1112 Fourth St. S.W., died Friday
(Nov. 3, 1995) at his home.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Elmwood-St.
Joseph Cemetery, 1224 S. Washington Ave., with the Rev. Dwayne
Dalen of Our Saviours Lutheran Church, officiating.

There will be no visitation.  Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel,
126 Third St. N.E., is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of North Iowa in memory of
Charles `Wayne' Caywood.

Wayne Caywood was born Dec. 5, 1938 in Henryetta, Okla., the
son of Butler Caywood and Opal Caywood.  He married Helen Kaduce
on July 2, 1983 in Mason City.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Kaduce-Caywood of Mason City;
two sons, Steven Caywood of Henryetta, Okla., and Keith Caywood
of Tulsa, Okla.; one daughter, Deborah Caywood of Oklahoma City,
Okla.; one step-son, Rick Pint of Mason City; two sisters,
Wanda Barrmore and her husband, Al of Lamita, Okla., and
Shirlley Goodmen and her husband, Bill of Dewor, Okla.; two brothers,
Donald Caywood of Henryetta, Okla., and Sammy Caywood of Cleveland,
Ohio; six grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one
brother.

Harry E. Mennenga, 88, died Friday (Nov. 3, 1995) at the Muse
Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Immanuel
Reformed Church with the Rev. Victor Folkerts officiating.  Burial
will be in Immanuel Reformed Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the Ewing
Funeral Home.

Harry Edwin Mennenga was born Dec. 23, 1906 near Belmond.

Survivors include his wife, Esther of Belmond; two sons,
Larry Mennenga of Belmond, and Lynn Mennenga of Pontiac, Ill.; seven
grandsons; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Edna Krebs of
Crete, Ill.; and two brothers, Ben Mennenga and Loren Mennenga,
both of Belmond.

Marvin O. Chapman
GREENE  

Marvin O. Chapman, 58, died Friday (Nov. 3, 1995) at North Iowa
Mercy Health Center, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Aredale
United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Orr and the Rev.
Kate Bell officiating.  Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Sietsema-Vogel
Funeral Home, Dumont.

Marvin O. Chapman was born Aug. 5, 1937.  He left this world
on Friday (Nov. 3, 1995) for eternal rest.

Marvin attended school in Benezette township.  In 1960 he entered
the U.S. Army to serve our country.  He was employed at White
Farm Equipment for 26 years.

In 1960 Marvin united in marriage with Janice R. Brinkman for
35 years until his death.  Throughout those 35 years Marvin and
Janice fulfilled their lives with nine children and their passion
for farming.

Marvin was a husband, a father, a brother, a friend and a mentor.
He enjoyed his life and family and will be dearly missed.

Marvin's life lives on in his wife, Janice Chapman of rural
Greene; six daughters, Kristen Chapman, Emily Chapman and
Rachel Chapman, all  of Mason City, Dixie Schultz and her husband,
Dan, and Melissa Chapman, all of DeWitt, and Annette Chapman of
Ankeny; three sons, Brian Chapman and his wife, Shannon of Mason City,
David Chapman and Brent Chapman, both of Greene; three very special
grandchildren, Frances Irene Chapman, Alussa Danielle and
Lauren Elizabeth Schultz; one brother, Melvin Chapman and Cheryl of
Upland, Calif.; four sisters, Darlene Kron of Iowa City,
Lavonne Beguelin of Bristow, Carol and her husband, Charles Nations
of Indro, Calif., and Vivian and her husband, Walter Spurbeck of
Newell.

Marvin will join his parents, Oscar and Thelma Chapman; his
mother and father-in-law, Henry and Rose Brinkman; and a brother-in-law,
Donald Kron.

at the Clarion Health Care Center.

Edna Gram was born Feb. 28, 1897 in Logan, Kan.

Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Lager of Clarion; two
sons, Robert of Belmond, and Raymond of Hampton; one sister,
Hazel Buchanan of Peoria, Ill.; 17 grandchildren; 42 great-grand
children; and 13 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters,
three brothers, and two sisters.

Vernon Shinn, Jr.
MASON CITY  

Vernon Shinn, Jr., 69, of 1419 10th St. S.W., died Saturday
(Nov. 4, 1995) at the Heritage Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Major

be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral
home, and will continue Tuesday until time of service.

The family suggests memorials to the Vernon Shinn, Jr. Memorial
Fund.

Vernon Shinn, Jr. was born Oct. 3, 1926 in Mason City, the son
of Vernon Shinn and Mabel (nee) McConnell Shinn.  Vernon enlisted
in the U.S. Navy and served aboard a supply ship during World War II.
He married Helen Tickal on May 22, 1955 in Mason City.  Vernon
was a heavy equipment operator for Northwestern States Portland
Cement Company for 40 years, retiring in 1990.  He was a member
of the American Legion.

Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl Ann Shinn of Mason City;
one son, David A. Shinn and his wife, Cindy of Mason City; one
brother, Donald Shinn of Mason City; one sister, Dorothy Swanson
of Mason City; grandchildren, Skyler, Corey, Chad, Dena and her
husband, Brad, and Angela; great-grandchildren, Michael and Brandon;
and one sister-in-law, Cathy McCourt of Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Helen in 1985;
and one brother, Robert.

Community Nursing Home.

Church, where there will be an Eastern Star service at 7:30 p.m.

Good Samaritan Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's
Catholic Church with the Rev. Ed Murray officiating.  Burial
will be in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery.  Military rites will
be provided by the American Legion of Whittemore.

Visitation will be held after 2:30 p.m. today at St. Michael's
Catholic Church.  A CD of A Rosary will be held at 3 p.m. and
a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m., both at the church.

Francis Mullin was born Feb. 3, 1918 in Hutchins.

Survivors include his wife, Coletta of Whittemore; three daughters,
Therese Fitch of Minnetonka, Minn., Donna Holland of Hacienda
Heights, Calif., and Maureen Mullin of Virginia Beach, Vir.;
one sister, Mary Rockwood of Garner; one brother, Edward Mullin

at the Sheffield Care Center, Sheffield.

Paul's Lutheran Church, Waverly, with the Rev. Dennis Dickman
and the Rev. John Golv officiating. Interment will be in the
Harlington Cemetery, Waverly.

Funral Home, Hampton, and from 11 a.m. until time of services
at the church.

Florence E. Rubenow was born Dec. 31, 1908, in rural Plainfield.

Survivors include two sons, Robert C. Rubenow of Park Forest,
Ill., and Dennis Rubenow of Cedar Rapids; one daughter,
Mary Ann Mueller of Hampton; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren;
and one sister, Margaret Deike.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers.

1995) at home.

Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dennis Johnson officiating. Burial
will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Mittelstadt Funeral
Home, Lake Mills, and one hour prior to services at the church.

Inez L. Bergerson was born Oct. 4, 1913, in Freeborn County.

Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Escherich of La Crosse,
Wis.; one son, Mike Bergerson of La Crescent, Minn.; six grandchildren;
three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marvyle Holton of
Albert Lea, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister and two
brothers.

Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Lyle C. Williams was born Nov. 3, 1907, at Dows.

Survivors include his wife, Arline, of Dows; one daughter,
Catherine Andree of Austin, Minn.; and one son, Lyle Jr. of Austin,
Minn.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister,
Fonda Smith of Hampton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers, three
sisters and one great-grandson.

Burial will be in Chester Hill Cemetery, Chester.

Lee was born Sept. 20, 1910, in Calhoun County.

NORTHWOOD  

Willis A. Sawin, 80, of Northwood, died Sunday (Nov. 5, 1995)
at his home in Northwood.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist
Church, with the Rev. Dennis Nicholson officiating. Burial will
be in  Sunset Rest Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Conner Colonial
Chapel, 99-11th St. S., and one hour prior to service time at
the church.

Willis A. Sawin was born on June 22, 1915, the son of
Harold Sawin and Etta (nee) Doolittle Sawin on the family farm six
miles east of Northwood.

He grew up on the farm and attended Deer Creek #5 rural school
and graduated from Northwood High School in the class of 1933.
He also attended Iowa State University.

He farmed with his father until the spring of 1941, when he
bought his first farm.

 He farmed for 50 years on his farm before selling the building
site to Jeff Moretz, moving to Northwood on Feb. 14, 1992.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church since his enrollment
into the cradle roll in December of 1915.

He is survived by his wife, Mae-Ellen (nee) Hawley Sawin of Northwood;
one son, Gerald of Newton; three daughters, Alice of Cedar Falls;
Shirley of Platte City, Mo., and Nancy of North Ogden, Utah;
11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife,
Mae (nee) Bliton Sawin; his son, Maynard; and two brothers, Neil and
Russel Sawin.

Harold S. Palmer
MASON CITY 

Harold S. Palmer, 97, of 324 Second St. N.E., formerly of 38
Kentucky Court, died Monday (Nov. 6, 1995) at Good Shepherd Nursing
Home.
            
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. at the First Congregational
United Church of Christ, 100 First St. N.E., with the Rev. Peter
Monkres officiating. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery,
Rockford.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to
noon Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania
Ave., and one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorials may be given to the Harold S. Palmer Memorial Fund.

Harold S. Palmer was born Oct. 10, 1898, in rural Chickasaw
County,  the son of Samuel S. Palmer and Amy (nee) Burch Palmer.

In 1915, the family moved to Cedar Falls so Harold could take
advantage of the educational opportunities there.

Harold received his B.A. degree from the University of Northern
Iowa in Cedar Falls and his masters degree from Iowa State University
in Ames.

He took his first teaching job in 1926 in Ramsey, Mich.

He moved to Mason City in 1927 and on July 7, 1928, married
Ruth I. Fullerton in Rockford.

Harold taught industrial arts for 41 years in the Mason City
School system as well as Mason City Junior College. He retired
in 1968.

Harold was a member of the First Congregational United Church
of Christ, a veteran of World War I, serving with the United
States Marine Corps.

He was a 60 year member of the American Legion, State and National
Education Association, Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #375 and the Senior
Division of the Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include his daughters, Jeanne Mastain of Bloomington,
Minn., and Mary Jo Fisher and her husband, Jack, of Mason City;
six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother,
Clarence Palmer of San Diego, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, in 1987; two brothers;
two sisters; and son-in-law, Allen Mastain.

Susan Kay Campbell
MASON CITY 

Funeral services for Susan Kay Campbell, 36, of 627 Eighth
St. S.E., formerly of Greene, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday (Nov.
11, 1995) at Reid's Funeral Chapel, Greene, with Pastor Deborah
J. Stowers of the Rudd United Methodist Church officiating. Burial
will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until
service time at the funeral chapel.

Susan Kay Barry was born June 16, 1959, in Charles City,  a
daughter of Russell E. Barry and Eileen E. (nee) Raymond Barry and died
unexpectedly Sunday (Nov. 5, 1995) in Anaheim, Calif.

Cause of death is pending further examination by the Orange
County Medical Examiners Office.

She and her family lived in Greene until 1963 when they moved
to Arizona and later to Huntington Beach, Calif,. where she received
her education at the Westminster High School and later attended
LaVerne College in Ventura, Calif.

On May 6, 1974, she was united in marriage to Ronald Paul Campbell
in Las Vegas, Nev. To this union was born one son,
Ronald Russell Campbell. The marriage ended in 1978.

Susan was employed by the Huntington Care Center and the Garfield
Care Center for several years.

She later moved to Texas where she remained until returning
to Iowa on June 15, 1995.

She lived with her mother in Rudd until moving to her apartment
in Mason City where she had been employed at the Manly Care Center.

As a young girl, Susan was an accomplished accordion player
and received special training to become a teacher in that field.

She enjoyed collecting stuffed rabbits throughout her life.

Living family members include her son, Ronald Paul Campbell
of Chino, Calif.; her  mother, Eileen Barry of Rudd; two brothers,
Charles Russell Barry and his wife, Sharon Barry of Cypress,
Texas, and Richard Allan Barry of Rudd; and two nieces,
Kristine Marie Barry and Stephanie Marie Barry.

She was preceded in death by her father on May 30, 1995.

Memorials may be directed to the Susan Kay Campbell Memorial
Fund in care of the family.

Albert B. Isebrands, 85, of Titonka, died Monday (Nov. 6, 1995)
at Kossuth Regional Health Center, Algona.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the United
Methodist Church, Titonka, with the Rev. Karl Schiltz officiating.
Burial will be in Bingham Township Cemetery, Woden.

Visitation will begin 3 p.m. today at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf
Funeral Home, Titonka, and after noon Thursday at the church.

Albert B. Isebrands was born May 18, 1910, in Hardin County.

Survivors include two sisters, Bernice Tjarks of Titonka and
Annie Bentley of Eugene, Ore.; and three brothers, John Isebrands
and Clarence Isebrands, both of Titonka, and Orval Isebrands
of Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and four
sisters.

Mabel Marie Paulsen
MANLY  

Mabel Marie Paulsen, 95, of Manly, formerly of the Bolan and
Grafton area, died Tuesday (Nov. 7, 1995) at the Muse Norris
Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Champion Funeral
Home, Osage, with the Rev. James V. Poulsen officiating. Burial
will be in the Grafton Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Thursday at
the funeral home.

Mabel was born Sept. 6, 1900, in rural Northwood. Her parents
were John White and Jessine ``Sina'' (nee) Rasmussen White.

She attended a rural school near Grafton.

On Feb. 6, 1921, she married Fredrick C. Paulsen at Plymouth.

She was a member of Bolan United Methodist Church and the Circle.

She was a Gold Star Mother of the VFW Auxillary in Sterling,
Ill.

She lived her entire life in the Bolan, Grafton and Kensett
area with the exception of a short time in Richmond, Calif.

Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Todd of Sterling, Ill.;
one sister, Anna Rosenberg of St. Ansgar; one brother, John White
and his wife, Pearl, of Grafton; six grandchildren, Mavis Wallace
and her husband, John; Ronald Willett and his wife, Tamera;
Steve Byrd; Jeff Byrd and his wife, Rhonda; Kenneth Kirchgatter and
his wife, Colleen; Tom Kirchgatter and his wife, Norma; 16 great-
grandchildren;
three great-great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred,
in 1989; daughter, Doris Kirchgatter in 1993; son, Kenneth killed
in World War II in 1944; two sisters, Clara Kuehn and Nora Bruesewitz;
and two brothers, Vern White and Art White.

Allton `Andy' Anderson
LAKOTA  

Allton ``Andy'' Anderson, 87, of Lakota, died Monday (Nov. 6,
1995) at St. Luke's Care Center, Blue Earth, Minn.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Presbyterian
Church, Lakota, with the Rev. James C. Chambers officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Lakota.

Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. today at the Garry-

Allton ``Andy'' Anderson was born March 14, 1908, in Houston,
Minn.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Anderson of Lakota; two daughters,
Sherry Peterson of Swea City and Cheryl Ellsworth of Jefferson;
two sisters, Violet Fletcher of Caledonia, Minn., and June Thorson
of Minneapolis, Minn.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one
sister.

Mabel L. Bolsinger
LAKE MILLS  

Mabel L. Bolsinger, 90, of Lake Mills, died Sunday (Nov. 5,
1995) at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Center
Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Thomas Rank officiating.
Burial will be in the Center Evangelical Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Mittelstadt
Funeral Home, and will continue one hour prior to services at
the church on Thursday.

Mabel L. Bolsinger was born May 23, 1905, northeast of Thompson.

Survivors include one son, Darwin Bolsinger of Orange, Calif.;
one grandson; and four sisters, Manda Brue of Thompson,
Nora Peterson of Northwood, Martha Peterson of Lake Mills, and
Agnes Jensen of Grand Meadow, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, five sisters and two
brothers.

Carl Luverne Peterson
CLEAR LAKE 

Carl Luverne Peterson, 75, of 10711 Jonquil Ave., Clear Lake,
died Monday (Nov. 6, 1995) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient
Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held  10 a.m. Thursday at  St. Paul
Lutheran Church, 329 E. State St., Mason City, with the Rev.
James B. Norem officiating. Interment will be in Mount Vernon
Cemetery, rural Burchinal, following the service.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Fullerton Patterson
James Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City.

Mr. Peterson was born July 20, 1920, in Mason City to
Carl H. Peterson and Mabel (nee) Nielsen Peterson.

He attended high school in Garner and served his country in
the United States Army, 34th Division, from 1941-45 as a staff
sergeant. He served during World War II and was stationed in
the African theater campaign and in Italy.

He married Shirley Skipton on Jan. 19, 1946, at St. Paul Lutheran
Church in Mason City.

Carl L. Peterson was employed at Arnold Motors in Mason City
prior to farming for 40 years south of Clear Lake.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Mr. Peterson is survived by his wife, Shirley, of Clear Lake;
three sons, Michael J. Peterson and his wife, Phyllis, of Carlisle;
Thomas L. Peterson and his special friend, Pam Olson and her
daughter, Ashley of Clear Lake, and James D. Peterson of Prior
Lake, Minn.; one daughter, Mrs. William (Karen C.) Romans of
LeClaire; five granddaughters; seven grandsons; one great-grandson;
four sisters, Mrs. Leland (Vera) Osslund of Mason City; Mrs.
Horace (Lois) Petersen of Clear Lake; Mrs. Ron Greiman of Garner
and Mrs. James (Phyllis) Coyier of Buffalo, Minn.; and several
nieces and aunts.

Kathryn M. Peterson

Kathryn M. Peterson, 69, of 320 N. 13th St., Clear Lake, died
Wednesday (Nov. 8, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East,
Mason City.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist
Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Bernard Olson officiating.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Friday at the Garden of Memories,
Waterloo.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today at the Ward-Van Slyke
Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St.

The family suggests memorials to the Clear Lake Senior Citizens
or Clear Lake United Methodist Church.

Kathryn was born Sept. 19, 1926, in Burt, the daughter of
Rea Hutchinson and Hazel (nee) Krantz Hutchison.

She graduated from West High School, Waterloo, in 1945 and continued
with her education by attending Gates Business College in Waterloo.

Kathryn married John C. (Bud) Peterson in 1948 in Waterloo.
They moved to Clear Lake in 1960.

Kathryn loved to paint, play cards, crochet, collecting recipes
and cooking.

She was a member of the Double F Club and Clear Lake United
Methodist Church.

Kathryn is survived by her daughter, JulieAnne Krueger and her
husband, Dwight, of Nichols; one son, Jack J. Peterson, Cedar
Rapids; one granddaughter, Michelle Richards and her fiance,
Nathan Pierce, both of State Center; two sisters, Elsa Cunningham
and Eveline Asa Spencer, both of Algona; and several nieces and
nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters,
Betty McCright and Mary Hoerst; and one brother, Robert Hutchison.

Helen E. Thorne was born Oct. 10, 1907, in Winnipeg, Canada,
daughter of Bill Claroye and Ida Bell Claroye.

She was married to Carl Banken and he preceded her in death
in November of 1979.

She then married Orval R. Thorne and he preceded her in death
in May of 1992.

Helen was born in Canada and has lived the past 60 years in
the Mason City area.

She worked for State Brand Cremery as a butter packer for 22
years.

She enjoyed collecting stuffed animals and loved children.

Survivors include one stepdaughter, Betty Jackson of Shenandoah;
many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous special
friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter,
Mary Hansen; her first husband; and her second husband.

Roy Belsaas
FOREST CITY  

Roy Belsaas, 85, of Forest City, died Tuesday (Nov. 7, 1995)
at his home in Forest City.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel
Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Lee Laaveg officiating. There
will be a spring burial in Swanville Cemetery, Swanville, Minn.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Petersen Lund
Funeral Home.

Roy M. Belsaas was born in Boyd, Minn., on Dec. 7, 1909, the
son of Christ I. Belsaas and Olga (nee) Hawkinson Belsaas.

He attended school in Boyd and later received his bachelor's
degree from St. Olaf College and his master's degree from the
University of Minnesota.

On June 4, 1938, he was married to Amy Mortensen in Swanville,
Minn.

He began his life-long career in education, teaching at schools
in Hitterdahl, Minn,. and Upsala, Minn.

 He served as school superintendent at Morris, Braham and St.
Charles, Minn. He also worked with the Brainerd, Minn., school
system as curriculum director.

Roy came to Waldorf College in Forest City in 1964 as Dean of
Students. After teaching math for several years, he began working
in the financial aid office, eventually becoming the director
of financial aid where he continued until his retirement in 1980.

Roy was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City
and was active in the Lions Club and the Gideons.

He loved music and enjoyed singing barbershop, both in quartets
and chorus, which he had directed.

He was an avid Republican and also had a keen interest in UFO
phenomenon.

He is survived by a son, Dean Belsaas of Sunnyvale, Calif.;
two daughters, Carole Olson of Minneapolis, Minn,. and
Phoebe Einertson of Belle Plaine, Minn.; four grandchildren; a 
sister,
Alphielde Bloom of Dawson, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Amy, who died
on Aug. 13, 1994; four brothers, Omer, Ino, Claire and Juel Belsaas
and two sisters, Palma Belsaas and Norma Johnson.

Leo J. Lichter, 93, of Algona, died Wednesday (Nov. 8, 1995)
at the Algona Manor Care Center.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Cecelia's
Catholic Church, with the Rev. Steve Broderson officiating. Burial
will be in the Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will begin 6 p.m. today at the Wilson Funeral Home,
with an 8 p.m. Scripture reading and from 9 a.m. until time of
service at the church.

Leo J. Lichter was born Dec. 2, 1901, at Kossuth County.

Survivors include his brother, Anthony ``Bud'' Lichter of Algona
and nieces and nephews.

NORTHWOOD  

Earl L. Jacobs, 86, of 207 S. 12th St., died Wednesday (Nov.
8, 1995) at the Lutheran Retirement Home, Northwood.

A funeral Mass will be held 9:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart
Catholic Church, Manly, with the Rev. Thomas McAndrew officiating.
Burial will be 4 p.m. Friday in the Harlan Cemetery, with Monsignor
Edward Kelly of St. Michael Catholic Church of Harlan officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Conner Colonial
Chapel, 99 11th St. S., Northwood, where a Scriptural rosary
service will be held at 7 p.m.

Earl was born Aug. 29, 1909, at Atlantic.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Jacobs of Northwood; three
sons, Wayne Jacobs of Northwood, Jerry Jacobs of Leland, and
Melvin Jacobs of Sun City, Ariz.; one daughter, Janice Rayburn
of Las Vegas, Nev.; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren;
and one brother, Pearl Jacobs, Muskogee, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.

Gordon Quigley, 69, of 107 Baldwin, died Monday (Nov. 6, 1995)
at Rio Grande Regional Hospital, McAllen, Texas.

John Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be
in the Riverside Cemetery, with graveside military honors conducted
by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

home and from 9 a.m. until time of services Friday.

Gordon Luvern Quigley was born Aug. 26, 1926, at Whitten.

Survivors include his wife, Idah, of Charles City; and a sister,
Thelma Remley of Plainfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Fern Waters, 97, a former Colwell resident, died Tuesday (Nov.
7, 1995) at the Ninth St. Chautauqua Guest Home.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Hauser
Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., with the Rev. Frederika Tarr
of the Colwell United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will
be in the Riverside Cemetery.

Fern Fay Erion Waters was born June 10, 1898, in Chickasaw County,
near Alta Vista.

Survivors include three daughters, Neoma Thompson,
Lorrayne Johnson and Margaret Bolton, all of Charles City; one brother,
Verne Erion of Sulphur Springs, Texas; two sisters, Violet Reetz
of Pine River, Minn., and Sylvia Severson of Osage; one grandson;
and one stepgranddaughter.
