Murray and Pastor Dean Hess officiating. Visitation will be held one
hour prior to the service at Opportunity Village.
Interment will be held Monday, March 5, in the Liscomb Cemetery, Liscomb,
at 1 p.m.
Should friends desire, memorials may be left to Opportunity Village in
Camilla's name.
Camilla was born on June 7, 1918, in St. Anthony, Iowa, the daughter of
Hugh and Minnie Hackett. She lived on the farm with her parents and
attended area schools. She later moved to the Glenwood State Hospital
and School for many years. Later, Camilla was able to live throughout
Iowa and California with her sisters, Hope and Alta, until moving to
Opportunity Village in September of 1982.
Camilla was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake. She also
attended Wednesday evening Spiritual Life Services at Opportunity
Village. Camilla loved singing hymns; a few of her favorites were "Jesus
Loves Me" and "Shall We Gather at the River?"
Despite reaching retirement age, Camilla chose to keep working. She
loved being around others, whether it be to cheer them up when they were
feeling down or to rejoice with them over good news.
She enjoyed relaxing after work by watching her extensive collection of
classic western DVDs, John Wayne being her favorite actor. She also
enjoyed bowling, getting her hair styled and having her fingernails
painted.
Camilla looked forward to celebrating her birthday each year. On her

Heart Award. The award recognizes people served by Opportunity Village
who demonstrate the qualities of competence, community involvement,
courtesy and courage.
She was proud to tell anyone that her secret to her youthful vitality
was to enjoy a glass of wine every night. She often asked others, "Do
you drink wine?" If they responded, "No," she would often ask, "Well,
why not!"
Camilla is survived by Larry and Nancy Flanagan of Grimes; her nephews,

Church officiating. Interment will be in Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation
will be Friday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home and then one hour

Lindy was born July 9, 1927, in Clear Lake, the daughter of Chris and
Marie (Sorenson) Olsen just two short months after Charles Lindbergh's
trans-Atlantic flight. Her father nicknamed her "Lindy" and it stuck
with her for her entire life. She graduated from Clear Lake High School
in 1945.
Lindy worked as a bookkeeper for Williams Brothers Pipeline and Clear
Lake Bank and Trust Company. After World War II, she met and married
Clifford "Biff" Hansen.
She became a seamstress, mostly out of necessity to provide clothes for
herself and the growing family. Out of this came an interest and
appreciation of all needlecrafts. She knitted count-less sweaters,
mittens and gloves for the family and many afghans for friends and
neighbors. She crocheted several elaborate bedspreads and quilts. Her
talents got her a in-home job with the P.T. Castle Cap and Gown company.
Later in her life, she taught herself the art of tatting. She and her
husband owned and operated Lincliff Inc.
The true love that Lindy had was her four children and there was no
sacrifice too big to keep her kids happy. This love had only been
superseded by the love and pride she has for her five grandchildren.
Lindy is survived by her four children, Vance Hansen, Ventura, Kevin
Hansen, Clear Lake, Susan DeVary, Osage, and David Hansen, Clear Lake;
five grandchildren, Misty (Matt) Green, Killeen, Texas, Nathaniel

City. On January 20, 1944, she enlisted in the WAVES. Her training was
in New York City followed by schooling in Cedar Falls. Marcella was
assigned to an IBM unit in Washington, D.C., where she kept track of all
of the Navy planes around the world.
She eloped and was married to Raymond Walk, QM3C, on March 12, 1945, in
Providence, R.I. After the war, they returned to Mason City where they
were employed. Marcella and Ray were approached by a local banker to
purchase Christian Bros. General Store in Grafton. She was in business
for 43 years, operating The Corner Store, later renamed Walk's Market.
Her husband, Raymond, died in February of 1981, and then her son, Stan,
managed the store. In July of 1994, Marcella moved to St. Ansgar.
She tried to live by the motto "Work and Pray." She looked forward to
spring every year. She was fascinated at how a brown seed planted in
black dirt, given light and water, produced a green leaf. Marcella
especially enjoyed transplanting plants like geraniums. There are
approximately 75 cuttings that are now rooting, waiting to be planted
this spring.
She was a lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton. She
was also a member of its church band in the early 1930s. Marcella looked
forward to a weekly Bible class, to morning (7:30 a.m.) breakfast with
friends at the Sportsman's and eating and helping at the St. Ansgar
Senior Center.
Marcella is survived by her children, Stanley Walk and Suzanne Walk of
St. Ansgar; a sister-in-law, Thelma Walk of Eagan, Minn.; and a
brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rueben and Maxine Walk of Grafton;
plus many nieces and nephews.
She would like to be remembered as one of God's Children.
