Born in Mason City, in 1957, Cheryl attended Mason City High School. She was preceded in death by our parents, Forest and Barbara Smith. The youngest of five children, she is survived by her four older brothers, Lonnie Smith, Lex Smith, Daniel Smith and Grady Smith.

In spite of poor health and many physical limitations, Cheryl was an outspoken advocate for the rights of women and children, and for stronger domestic laws to protect them. She was an avid reader and collector of books, and spent as much time as she could online researching and studying all of the many things that interested her. While always having pets of her own to love and care for, Cheryl always gladly supported animal rescue agencies every chance she could. She had a very big heart and always showed her love to her family and friends. She will be missed.

Little sister, you were the last of us to come along. Used to be there were five "Smith kids" and now there are only four. Someday we will all be together again once more.
Good bye sis. We love you.
