Kathryn L. Andon
MASON CITY - Kathryn L. Andon, 90, of Mason
City, died on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at
the I.O.O.F. Home in Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.,
Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at First United
Methodist Church, 119 South Georgia, with
the Rev. Jim Stiles officiating.
Interment will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph
Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour
prior to the service at the church on
Monday, Jan. 3.

Kathryn was born on Dec. 30, 1919, in Rolla,
Mo., to Lloyd and Della (Witter) Clay. She
graduated from Mason City High School in the
Class of 1937. After graduation, she
attended St. Joseph College of Nursing in
Sioux City, Iowa, graduating in 1941. After
graduation she worked as a registered nurse
at the Park Hospital, and then at the Good
Samaritan Hospital in West Palm Beach, Fla.,
where she and Paul David Hartigan were
married. Later she worked at the Driscal
Foundation Children's Hospital in Corpus
Christi, Texas.
After returning to Mason City, she worked as
an office nurse for Dr. H.J. Roddy and then
for the Mason City Public School System as a
school nurse for 21 years.
She was a member of the American Red Cross,
the American Nurses' Association, Tenth
District Nurses' Association, and St. Joseph
Mercy Alumni Association. Kathryn was a
member of the First United Methodist Church
and KB Circle. She joined the North Iowa
Genealogical Society and was one of the
first docents of the Stockman House, she
also volunteered for many other
organizations as well.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Saug;
sister-in-law, Beverly Clay, both of Mason
City; two daughters, Karen Blase and her
husband, Raymond, of Ankeny, and Barbara
Cornelius and her husband, Richard of Mason
City; two grandchildren, Katie (Richard)
Julkowski of Minneapolis, Minn., and Paul
(Lynne) Cornelius of Altoona; three
great-grandchildren, Ella and Olivia
Julkowski and Kasey Cornelius.
She is preceded in death by her parents
Lloyd and Della Clay; a brother, Max Clay; a
sister, Charlotte Sinnott; and husbands,
Paul Hartigan, Jerry Kinvig, and John Andon.
The family would like to extend a special

LATIMER
- Wendell D. "Lump" Johansen, 80, of
Latimer, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 30,
2010, at the Franklin General Nursing
Facility in Hampton.

today, Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, at the Nazareth
Lutheran Church, 317 5th Street in Coulter.

Wendell David "Lump", the son of Martin and
Hannah Petersen Johansen, was born on Jan.
15, 1930, at the family home west of
Latimer. He grew up in the Latimer area
where he attended school and graduated from
Latimer High School in 1948.
After high school, Lump attended
auctioneering school in Mason City, where he
later taught.
Lump was united in marriage to Maxine
Muhlenbruch on Jan. 27, 1952, at the
Immanuel United Church of Christ in Latimer.
The couple made their home east of Latimer
where Lump farmed and was very fond of his
livestock and cattle operation. Son Mark
later joined in the farming operation.
Lump's other business and passion was
Johansen Auction of Latimer, which he
recently sold.
Lump and Maxine also enjoyed the winters
they spent in Mesa, Ariz.
As a member of the Latimer Community Club,
he was a supporter of the development of the
community. He ran the score clock at CAL
basketball games for many years and helped
with the restoration of The Cafe. He was a
member of the Franklin County Fair Board
where he served as vice president and
belonged to the Franklin County and State
Cattlemen Associations. Lump was also a
long-time member of Hampton Lion's Club and
he was an active member of the Nazareth
Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years,
Maxine, his children: Mark (LuAnn) Johansen
of Hampton, Jane (Al) Eilderts of Cedar
Falls, Anne (Bryce) Claypool of Hampton, and
grandchildren: Nate (Sara) Johansen, Leah
and Hannah Eilderts, Spencer, Parker, Brady,
Kimberly and Michael (Amber) Claypool. He is
also survived by sister Rhoda (Jack)
Jorgensen, brother Glenn (Sandy) Johansen,
sister-in-law Lois Johansen, and numerous
nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
brother Dale Johansen and sister Beulah
Rodecap.

- Jack Lloyd Sogard, 84, of Hampton, passed
away on Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at the
Franklin General Hospital Nursing Facility
in Hampton.
Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m.,
Tuesday, Jan. 4, at the St. Paul Lutheran
Church in Hampton with burial in the
Greenwood Cemetery in Ellsworth.
Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 3, from 4
until 7 p.m. at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral
Home in Hampton. The Rev. David Sorenson
will officiate the service.
Jack was born on May 16, 1926, in Ellsworth,
to Harold and Melva (Porter) Sogard. Jack
attended and graduated from Ellsworth
Community High School in Ellsworth. He was a
tremendous all-around athlete. He proudly
served his country during
World War II
in the U.S. Army and was stationed in the
Philippines.
He also attended and graduated from Drake
University in Des Moines, with a bachelor's
degree and from Colorado State University in
Greeley, Colo., with a master's degree.
Jack married Mary Johanna Forslund on Aug.
1, 1948, in Rochester, Minn. They made their
home in Hampton, moving there in 1959. Jack
worked as a high school social studies
teacher and coach for the Hampton Community
School District. During his summers, he was
the manager of the Hampton Swimming Pool.
Jack and Mary were long-time members of St.
Paul Lutheran Church. Until his later years,
Jack was an active member of his church and
community. He was an avid reader. He loved
learning and reading about history.
He enjoyed watching Iowa, Iowa State,
Northern Iowa, and Drake basketball and
football games. Jack was an avid golfer, had
tremendous appreciation and fondness for the
game, enjoyed teaching/coaching it and loved
playing it, especially with his three sons.
He loved going and watching grandchildren
participate in whatever activities they were
involved in.
Before their health failed, Jack and Mary
enjoyed traveling and spending the winters
in Arizona. He truly had the blessing of
many friends and was both respected and
loved.
Jack is survived by son Mike and his wife
Karen of Clear Lake; son Jim and his wife
Donna of Ames; son Jeff and his wife Vicki
of Carlisle; eight grandchildren, Chris,
Matt, Jenny, Kara, Jamie, Chelsea, Kendra
and Paige; six great-grandchildren, Kate,
Luke, Daniel, Sam, Ellie and Campbell;
brother Bob Sogard of Burlington, sister
Marilyn and Ken Knutson of Litchfield, Ill.,
sister Kathy and Howard Miner of West Des
Moines, brother Don Sogard of Story City,
brother Dean Sogard of Jewell, brother Gail
and Nellie Jo Sogard of Wichta Falls, Texas,
sister Marge and Bill Sumberg of Denver,
Colo., brother Allen Sogard of New London,
Minn., brother Ramon (Butch) and Cindy
Sogard of Ellsworth, brother Gary and Marge
Sogard of Bellvue, Neb. and sister Anne and
Sonny Aller of Des Moines. He is preceded in
death by his wife of 56 years, Mary Sogard;

Lorraine was born on Jan. 14, 1933, in
Tripoli, the daughter of Myron and Minifred
(Barr) Chapin. She attended school in
Tripoli and graduated from Tripoli High
School.
She was married to Garth E. Lovejoy on Sept.
23, 1952, in Lawton, Okla., and to this
union three sons were born.
She was an Avon Sales representative for
seventeen years. Lorraine was very active in
Scouting through the years with her boys and
husband Garth, and she received the Silver
Fawn, a very prestigious award in the Scouts
organization.
She was a longtime member of the First
United Methodist Church, where she was
active in her church circle, mission
committees. Lorraine enjoyed traveling out
West, camping with her family, taking walks,
and listening to all types of music. She
enjoyed spending time with her family and
friends and will be dearly missed by all who
knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Garth E.
Lovejoy of Mason City; children, Douglas
Lovejoy and wife Karen of Cedar Falls, Jay
Lovejoy of Mason City, and Kevin Lovejoy and
wife Sara of Manly; grandchildren,
Christopher, Andrew, Jordan, Daniel, Erica
and Nathan; one great-grandchild, Parker;
sisters, LaVera Benzine of Janesville, Beth
Lovejoy of Waverly; brother, Robert Chapin
and wife Mary Lee of Tripoli; sister-in-law,
Marilyn Chapin of Dickinson, Texas; and
brother-in-law, Lloyd Mallie of Mt. Vernon;
and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents;
two sisters, Winifred Moehlis and Doris
Mallie; brother, John; and granddaughter,
Kathlyn; brothers-in-law, Marvin Benzine,
Keith Lovejoy, and Les Moehlis.

Phyllis Lucille, the daughter of John and
Annie Eeckhoff Koenen, was born on Jan. 4,
1922, near Meservey. She was baptized at the
Zion Reformed Church in rural Sheffield.
Phyllis grew up and attended school in the
Meservey area.
Phyllis was united in marriage to Engelard
Steenhard on March 26, 1941, at the Zion
Reformed Church. The couple made their home
in rural Belmond and Alexander. Phyllis and
Engelard moved into Meservey in 1968.
Phyllis worked as mother and homemaker the
majority of her life. She also did various
other jobs of cooking and cleaning for
people. Especially she enjoyed the work she
did for Marie Hansel and the P&G Deli.
Phyllis will always be remembered for her
pies, potato salad and banana bread.
Phyllis was a member of the American Legion
Auxiliary, Reformed Church Women, Senior
Citizens, Monday Morning Coffee Club,
Bloemke Pharmacy Friday Coffee. Phyllis was
an active member of the First Reformed
Church in Meservey.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Vernon
(Carol) of Olathe, Kan., Barbara Kropp
(Jerry) of Garner, Alan (Ann) of Mason City,
Wayne (Donna) of Mason City, Warren of Mason
City, Mark (Debra) of Cypress, Texas;
grandchildren, Julie Rains (Wes), Scott
(Brooke), Brenda Anderson (Grant), Shelby
(Alana), Haylee Miller (Ryan), Cade, Colten,
Rhett; great grandchildren, Erica, Abby,
Joel, Emma, Carter, Ainsly, Derek, Mara,
Kylie, Jaelyn, Evan; brother-in-law, George
and Merele Steenhard; sister-in-law, Marge
Steenhard; and numerouse other nieces,

She was preceded in death by her parents;

Leola (Lee) Lyons
ROSEWELL,
Ga. - Leola (Lee) Lyons, 88, of Roswell, Ga., formerly of Ventura, Iowa,
died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday (Jan. 1, 2011) in Roswell,
after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, Iowa.
Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa.
The Lyons family will receive friends on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the
time of service at Ward-VanSlyke Colonial Chapel.
Leola (Lee) Lyons was born on May 31, 1922, to Theodore and Greone
Nelson in Ventura, Iowa, the oldest of 10 children. Lee married and
ultimately moved to Minneapolis, Minn., where she raised two children,
Sandy and Tom.
She worked for many years at St. Louis Park High School, and then Green
Giant Company where she, by chance, met up with Jim Lyons, who she had
previously dated when they were in high school, in Iowa. Both now
single, they married in February 1977 and moved to Atlanta, Ga. Her son,
Tom, died also in February of 1977 after a long battle with Hodgkin's
disease. Sandy and her two children followed her to Atlanta in 1977.
Lee was very active with Roswell United Methodist church and volunteered
with Calvary Children's Home. She was a member of Women's Group and an
avid golfer at her Brookfield West Country Club community. She and Jim
were always ready to help friends and neighbors with household projects
and enjoyed much traveling with friends.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandy; two grandchildren, Tom, and Robin,
and two great- grandchildren Jacob and James, also step-children, Barry
Lyons, of Bemidji, Minn., and Greg Lyons, of Denver, Colo., and Karel
Wilkinson, of Spotsylvania, Va., and six step-grandchildren; brothers
and sisters, Jeanyce Gobeli, of Milton, Fla.; Shirley Nelson of Lake
Mills, Iowa; Darwin Nelson, of Clear Lake, Iowa; Loren Nelson of
Denison, Iowa, and Merna Torkelson, of Clear Lake, Iowa.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jim
Lyons in 2005; son, Tom; sisters, Melva Pals and Wanda Jenkins;
brothers, Roger Nelson and Richard Nelson.

CITY - Mason City - Gerald E. Ramker, 88, of Mason City, died Friday,
Dec. 31, 2010, at his residence.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at St.
Joseph's Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E. with the Rev. Craig E.
Steimel officiating. Interment will be held in Rose Hill Cemetery in
Greene.

Gerald Eugene Ramker was born to Louis and Zula (Brown) Ramker on Oct.
21, 1922, in a rural Greene farmhouse. He was raised on the family "Ramker
Dairy" farm. He attended St. Mary's Academy until transferring to Greene
High School to play football his senior year.
Gerald married Mary Jean Meek on November 4, 1942. Their pride and joy
was their family. Their five children, Keith, Margery, Thomas, Linda,
and Duane, all grew up on the farm East of Rudd. They enjoyed family
visits, special events, dancing to the "big bands," playing cards and
most of all attending their children's activities.
On Dec. 6, 1996, Gerald married Norma Foote from Mason City. He shared
his life with her until the time of his death. They enjoyed entertaining
each other's families, wintering in Texas, attending auctions, fishing
and playing cards with everyone and anyone who was ready for a game.
Gerald was an active 4-H member growing up, and then with his children.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St Joseph's Catholic
Church. He attended Boys State in 1938. He was named Floyd County
"Master Corn Producer" in 1959 and Floyd County Master Pork Producer.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Norma Ramker; his children, Keith Ramker
and his wife Judy of Leesburg, Fla., Margery Wasicek and her husband
Dennis of Mason City, Thomas Ramker and his wife Diane of Greene, Linda
Posenkany of Sheffield, Duane Ramker and his wife Beverly of Osage;
grandchildren: Heather (Peter) Ekstrom, Shannon (Tom) Meister, Chris
(Curt) Wasicek, Kathy (Jeff) Brandow, Matt (Andrea) Ramker, Jeana (Gary)
Nichols, Joy (Darin) Schrader, Kari (Herb) Munch, Mindy (Jade) Pecha,
Janet (Lynn) Rinken, Melinda (Brett) Darrow, Jared Ramker, Daniel Ramker;

Janet was born on April 29, 1968, in Osage, the daughter of Richard and
Marlys G. (Kriemeyer) Kuehne. She graduated from Osage Community High
School in 1986, North Iowa Area Community College in 1988, and Mercy
Hospital School of Radiologic Technology in Mason City in 1993.
Janet married Robert Spitz on September 11, 1993, at Sacred Heart
Catholic Church in Osage. To this union, two children were born, Nathen
and Taylor.
She had worked at Southbridge Insurance Agency, Principal Financial,
Mason City Clinic, and was most recently employed at Mercy Medical
Center-North Iowa in Mason City as an ultrasound technologist.
Janet was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading,
fishing, and spending time in the outdoors. Janet especially enjoyed
going to her children's sporting events and spending time with family
and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Spitz Children's
Education Fund.
Janet is survived by her husband, Robert Spitz, and her children, Nathen
and Taylor, of Osage; her parents, Richard and Marlys Kuehne, of

Osage; and her mother-in-law, Belle Spitz, of Osage.

Merlin Oden Carlsgaard

- Merlin Oden Carlsgaard, 82, of Rockwell, and formerly of Myrtle,
Minn., died Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at Rockwell Community Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at Bethlehem
Lutheran Church of Myrtle. The Rev. Ronald Myers and the Rev. Joel
Dahlen will officiate. Interment will be at the State Line Cemetery.

Merlin was born to Arthur and Beatrice (Odden) Carlsgaard in Freeborn
County on July 19, 1928. He attended various country schools as his
folks moved. He went to Albert Lea High School. He was confirmed at
Hayward Lutheran Church and later joined Bethlehem Lutheran Church,
Myrtle.
He married Marjorie (Chrs) on June 17, 1948. To this union six children
were born. They lived in this area for 58 years, then because of health
issues they moved to Rockwell.
The first years of their marriage Merlin farmed and later drove a gas
truck for Freeborn Co-op Oil Co. for 15 years. He was proud to have
earned a safe driving award each year of his employment. Merlin then
went to work for Streater Industries where he worked for 25 years until
his retirement. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the
Carpenters and Joiners Union 766, the Moose Lodge 1703, Senior Citizens
of Hayward and Senior Citizens of Rockwell. Merlin liked horseback
riding, hunting, fishing and traveling.
Survivors include his children, Mary Ellen (Bill) Nelson, Merle (Linda)
Carlsgaard, Marcia (Craig) Rayman, Marla Kaye (Jim) Johnson, Mark
Carlsgaard, and Martie (Cyndi) Carlsgaard; grandchildren, Chris (Darla)
Nelson, Craig Nelson, Derrill Lynn (Josh) Carlsgaard, Alyson (Jeff)
Schulz, Alisa (Todd) Bruflat and Dustin Rayman, Michael (Jessica)

- Craig L. Caslavka, 68, of Waterloo, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at
Allen Memorial Hospital from cancer.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan 7, at Sacred Heart Catholic
Church.

Craig was born on May 11, 1942, at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton,
Iowa, the son of Lawrence and Charlotte (Greaser) Caslavka. He graduated
from Traer High School in 1960.
Craig married Linda Kerns March 18, 1961 in Nashua; they later divorced.
He married Clarice "Reece" Kammeyer Feb. 23, 1991, in Waterloo. He was a
Chemical Engineer for John Deere for 39 years retiring in 1999.
Craig was currently the Lodge Secretary and a Past Exalted Ruler of the
Waterloo
Benevolent and
Protective Order of Elks
No. 290 as well as Past State President for the Iowa Elks Association.
He served as Cedar Falls AMVET Post 49 First Vice Chairman (Membership),
Department Iowa 1st Vice Chairman (Membership), and was currently
Department Iowa Sons of AMVETS Commander. Craig was also currently
serving as Trustee Chairman for the Waterloo Water Works. Craig was the
Principle Race Officer for 25 years with Reece at the Clear Lake Yacht
Club.
Craig is survived by his wife Reece of Waterloo, children and
grandchildren: son Alan (Cindy) Caslavka of Dallas, Texas and his sons:
Mitchell, Bradley, and Daniel; daughter Pamela Lichty of Plano, Texas
and her son Blake; daughter Shannon Kammeyer of Eldora and her
daughters: Bryanna and Brittaney; and a son Brandon (Carrie) Kammeyer of
Waterloo and his children Cara, Carlee, and Braylon in April. He is also
survived by a brother Curtis (Arlys) Caslavka of Middleton, Wis.; a
sister Sharon (Joe) Sichra of Waterloo; his stepmother Winnie Caslavka
of Marion, and mother in law Alberta Kammeyer of Cedar Falls.
Craig is preceded in death by his mother, father, brother Graydon, and
father-in-law Richard E. Kammeyer.

Charlotte Fredrickson
FOREST
CITY -Charlotte Fredrickson, 70, of Forest City, died Monday, Jan. 3, at
the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, following a recent
diagnosis of cancer.
Funeral service will be on Friday, Jan. 7, at 10:30 a.m. at the church,
with burial in First Baptist Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday, Jan. 6 from 4 until 7 p.m.
at First Baptist Church, Forest City.
Charlotte Ann Nelson, born Jan. 5, 1940, was the daughter of David and
Stella (Anderson) Nelson, of Albert City. She graduated from Albert City
High School, attended two years at Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar
Falls, and one year at the University of S.D., Vermillion.
She was married to David Fredrickson on Jan. 30, 1960. Their family
honored them with a 50th anniversary celebration this past September.
In addition to being wife and mother, Charlotte worked with her husband
in the family business, Greatwestern Products of Forest City,
manufacturer of lamps and lampshades. After the business closed,
Charlotte became the administrative assistant for the Waldorf College
Music Department for 19 years. Among many important aspects of her job,
Charlotte was in charge of scheduling concerts, travel, and housing for
the choirs and bands throughout the United States and Europe. She and
David accompanied the students on these trips. Charlotte was the 2004
recipient of the Holmen Professional Excellence Award given annually by
Waldorf College.
After completion of the confirmation class in the Lutheran church in
Albert City, the Swedish pastor asked Charlotte if she truly believed
that Christ was her Savior.
Answering yes and confessing her faith in Jesus, she felt a release from
sin and new life in Christ. She was an active member of First Baptist
Church, Forest City. Charlotte shared her talent as an accomplished
pianist not only at the church but also by accompanying middle school,
high school and college students in performances and contests.
Charlotte was a member of the Forest City Chapter of PEO, one of the
organizers of the Community Concert Series in Forest City and later, the
Waldorf College Artist Series events. She especially enjoyed reading,
music, and playing bridge with her many friends.
Each of Charlotte's grandchildren held a special place in her heart and
in her prayers. She was delighted that all of her children and
grandchildren traveled to Mesa, Ariz., to celebrate Christmas, 2010.
Her family includes her husband, David, son Tim and his wife Karen,
their daughters Lynnea and Danika, and Swedish exchange student Karin
Sproge of Forest City, her daughter Carol and her husband, Doug Tweeten,
and their sons Ryan (Brighton, Colo.), Drew and Luke of Forest City, her
daughter Sue and husband, Jeff Port, and sons Josh and Zack of Coon
Rapids, Minn., her sister and husband, Myrna and Marlowe Feldman of
Albert City, and sister-in-law and husband, Liz and Peter Boman of
Forest City, and five nephews and nieces. Charlotte was preceded in
death by her parents.

MARSHALLTOWN
- Jason Carl Gramstad, 61, of Mason City, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, at
the Iowa Veterans Home.
A gathering of friends and family will be held from 10 until noon on
Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N.
Pennsylvania Ave.

Jason was born on Sept. 22, 1949, in Minneapolis, Minn., the son of
Melvin and Burnetta (Schleeter) Gramstad. He attended school in
Richfield, Minn. and upon graduating Jason enlisted in the
United States Navy
and served aboard the USS Ranger (CVA-61) during the
Vietnam War.
He was united in marriage from 1970 to 1984 to Connie Wike. To this
union two children were born, Brian and Sara. In 1979 he and his
business partner built Nordic Lanes in Northwood, in which he owned and
operated until 1984. Jason worked for River City Ready Mix until he
purchased the Rose Bowl in Mason City, in 1995. Jason owned and operated
the Rose Bowl where he made many friends; in 2007 he began his early
retirement.
Jason was a member of the
VFW
Post 733. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cribbage, singing Neil
Diamond songs at karaoke and just visiting with friends. He will be
greatly missed by all that knew him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Sara (Kris) Zilge
of Mason City; son, Brian (Jessica) Gramstad of Farmington, Minn.;
grandchildren, Peyton and Hayden Zilge, Cole Gramstad and Madeline
Gramstad; mother, Burnetta Gramstad of Darwin, Minn. He was preceded in
death by his father, Melvin Gramstad.

She was born on Jan. 14, 1921, in Dubuque, Iowa, she lived in several
states before settling in Austin, Texas, in 1946. She worked at the U.S.
Treasury as a clerk until retiring in 1983.
Constance Myers was a member of the Austin Genealogical Society, Senior
Citizen at Faith United Methodist Church, "OK's" Thankful Hubbard
Chapter, National Society Daughter of the America Revolution, and
Colonial Dames of the 17th Century.
Mrs. Myers was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Marion Myers,
and daughter, Sarah Roxanne.
Survivors include son, J. Michael Myers and wife of San Antonio,
daughter, Caroline J. Miller and her husband of Round Rock, son,
Christopher C. Myers and his wife of Austin: grandchildren, Regina
Hightower and husband, Andrea Stanfield, J. Merritt Myers and wife,
Jordan Myers, Nicolas Freeman, Patrick Freeman, Hannah Freeman, James
Langston, Steven Langston, and Brian Langston; great-grandchildren,
Walker and Jillian Hightower, Alexander Stanfield, Deven Park and Baby
Myers due in February 2011.

MARBLE ROCK - Thomas V. Nash, 63, formerly of Marble Rock, died Monday,
Jan. 3, 2011, at the Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at the
Walter F. Bohl Community Center, 122 S. Main St., Marble Rock, with
Pastor Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery,
Marble Rock.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at the
Walter F. Bohl Community Center, Marble Rock. There will also be a
visitation one hour before services on Friday at the community center.

Dorothy Leona Nicholson
MASON
CITY - Dorothy Leona Nicholson, 89, Mason City, died Monday, Jan. 3,
2011, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.
A memorial service for Dorothy will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7,
2011, at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third Street N.E.,
Mason City.
Inurnment will be held in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Highway 122 West,
Mason City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time on
Friday at the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorial contributions
be made to the family in her memory.
Dorothy Leona Nicholson was born on Nov. 23, 1921, in South Dakota, the
daughter of George and Alice (Kelsey) DeBour. She was united in marriage
to Lester Nicholson, and to this union one child was born, Michael R.
Nicholson.
Dorothy worked at University of Iowa Medical Center in Iowa City as a
housekeeper, and at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City in the
laundry department at the time of her retirement.
Dorothy lived in Plymouth until moving to Good Shepherd Health Center in
Mason City before moving to the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood to
be closer to her family.
Dorothy had a quick sense of humor, and a wonderful smile for family and
friends. Dorothy loved to tell people she was 39 and holding, just like
Jack Benny.
Those left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Terry (Cindy)
Bass of Northwood, Lyneen McLaughlin, Mike Nicholson, and Ashley
Nicholson; great-grandchildren, Craig and Blake Bass of Northwood,
Leslie Arndt, and Max McLaughlin of Grafton; sister-in-law, Gladys
Bessman of Mason City; a special niece, Kay Bessman of Mason City; as
well as other special nieces and nephews; and special neighbors, Ric and
Jean Vermedal of Plymouth; and other extended family members and
friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Lester Nicholson in 1985;
son, Michael Nicholson on July 3, 1991; daughter-in-law, Marcine Coburn;
and a grandson, Scott Bass.

2011, at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Lutheran Church, Thornton, with the Rev. Milton D. Johnson presiding.
Interment will be at Pleasant View Cemetery, Thornton.

2011, at his home in Northwood.

Barbara Wills officiating. Burial will be in the Pilot Knob Cemetery,

Randall "Randy" Reysack
THORNTON - Randall "Randy" Reysack, 55, of 216 S. 1st St., Thornton,
died Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason
City.
Memorial services will be held at a later time.
Randy was born on Sept. 15, 1955, in Mason City the son of Theodore and
Darlene (Prilipp) Reysack. He graduated from Hampton High School in
1974.
He worked for Ventura Schools as a bus mechanic and later drove semi
trucks and delivered Winnebagos.
Randy enjoyed black powder rendezvous and Civil War re-enactments and
was a member of the 8th Texas Dismounted Calvary out of Mason City in
artillery.
He especially enjoyed spending time with his son and grandkids. He will
be sadly missed by his son Tony and his family and his sister Beth and
her family.
He is survived by his son Tony Reysack and his fiancé Kassia
Christensen, Mason City; four grandchildren, Aleksei and Tatyana Reysack,
Yakima, Wash., and Anthony Dean Reyasck Jr. and Sofia Reysack, Mason
City, and his sister Elizabeth Reysack and her husband Gary Overbeck,
Rockwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
