Eleanor Mae Arends
HUMBOLDT - Eleanor Mae Arends, 89, of Humboldt, passed away Aug. 3,
2011 at Long Term Care in the Humboldt Hospital.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today, Saturday, Aug. 6, at the
Congregational United Church of Christ in Humboldt with the Rev. Lynda
Bigler officiating. Interment will be at Union Cemetery, Humboldt.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Eleanor Mae Nelson, the daughter of Alfred and Clara (Ulvin) Nelson was
born April 9, 1922, in Humboldt County. She lived with her parents in
the Goldfield area and graduated from Goldfield High School. She
attended Iowa State Teachers College and during that time she met Merle
Arends and they were united in marriage on Feb. 21, 1943. The couple
made their home in the Clear Lake and Humboldt areas. Eleanor was an
active member of the TTT sorority and enjoyed all kinds of sports,
especially the Iowa Hawkeyes. She enjoyed playing bridge with her
friends and was an active church member.
Eleanor is survived by her four sons: Dale (Paula) Arends, Marc (Linda)
Arends, Scott (Anna) Arends and Brad (Kathy) Arends; grandchildren; Amy
(Jim) Wichman, Amanda (Jeremy) Dyvig, Alecia (Chris) Johnson, Abbey
(Ryan) Harklau, Ashley Arends, Andrew Arends and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Merle, brothers Curt Nelson,
Milt Nelson and Donald Nelson.

- Neriah Naomi Bogan, our still beloved infant daughter went home to be
with the Lord, on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, at Mary Greeley Medical
Center, Ames.
Funeral services will be today, Saturday, Aug. 6, at 3 p.m., at the
Goodell United Methodist Church. Pastor Brian McNamara will be
officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 2-3 p.m. today.

The Lord needed a beautiful little angel in heaven and Neirah will be
the brightest star in the sky watching over her family. Their dreams for
her will go unfilled, but they know she is in the loving arms of Jesus.
Neriah is survived by her parents, Duane and Marta Bogan, Ellsworth; her
sisters Hannah Rose Barker of Britt, and Christabelle of Indonesia;
Grandparents Charles and Barb Bogan of Goodell, Martinus Ngantung and
Herniaty Wijaya of Jakarta, Indonesia. Aunt Melisa Elisabeth and uncle
Fransiscus Victor, great aunt Yana Heginger of Clear Lake, as well as
many aunts and uncles. Great grandparents Robert Bogan of Saxonburg,
Pa., and Carl and Darlene Heginger of Klemme.
Neriah was preceded in death by great-grandmother Naomi Bogan of
Saxonburg, Pa., great-grandparents Irawan and Suniaty Wijaya, Aneelina
and Alexander Ngantung of Indonesia.

Oscar "Dean" Eckardt

- Oscar "Dean" Eckardt, 79, died surrounded by his loving family on
Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, at his home in Ankeny.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, at Ankeny
United Methodist Church, with visitation one hour prior to service.
Private family interment will be held later.
Dean was born April 23, 1932, in Adair County, and grew up in
Greenfield. He married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Oliver, and
to this union, three children were born: Steve, Lori and Scott.
Dean served in the U.S. Air Force during the
Korean War
from 1952 to 1956. He began his career with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co.
in January 1960 in Mason City. He was later transferred to Des Moines,
where he retired in 1990 as manager of Goodyear's Central Inspection
Depot.
Dean was a member of Ankeny United Methodist Church and the American
Legion.
Dean is survived by his wife Carolyn; daughter Lori (Randy) Burchett, of
New Virginia; sons Steven, of Ankeny, and Scott (Chris), of Des Moines,
granddaughters Sonya Eckardt, of Portland, Ore., Shelby Eckardt and
Rachel Eckardt, of Des Moines; and sister, Shirley Rice, of Murray.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Gertrude (Estell)
Eckardt, brother Robert; and brothers-in-law Tony Rice and John Oliver.

Jim was born Dec. 1, 1921, in Boston, Mass., the son of Michael J. and
Margaret (Cox) O'Brien. He received his high school diploma from
Charlestown High School in Boston. He joined the Civilian Conservation
Corps and served with them in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and
Colorado.
Jim enlisted in the Marine Corps on Dec. 4, 1939. While serving with the
Marines he participated in action against the enemy on Dec. 7, 1941, at
Pearl Harbor, in the landings and conquest of Tulagi and Guadalcanal, in
the defense of Tinian Island and in the landings and conquest of
Okinawa. In 1951, he served with the 1st Marine Division again during
the Korean War.
Jim left the Marine Corps in 1947 and began his 37-year career with
Interstate Power Co., where he worked until his retirement in 1984 as
District Electric Operating Superintendent.
Jim was united in marriage to Lois Lorraine Walker of Winnebago, Minn.,
in Philadelphia, Pa. in 1946. Lois passed away in 1980.
He was married to Maria Savas in October of 1986.
He was an active member of many organizations, serving as commander of
American Legion Post No. 82 in Winnebago, Minn., Grand Knight of the
Knights of Columbus in Mason City, Exalted Ruler of the BPOE Lodge in
Mason City, Commandant of the North Iowa Detachment of the Marine Corps
League, a life member of the V.F.W. Post in Mason City, as well as a
life member of the D.A.V., a member of the Guadalcanal Campaign Veterans
Association, and a life member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors
Association.
Jim enjoyed golf, following the Twins and Vikings, and traveling
throughout Europe, Asia and the Pacific.
Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather who
cherished time spent with family and friends. He was always faithful to
his country and his beloved Marine Corps.
Jim is survived by his wife Maria; two sons, Thomas (Susan), Urbandale,
Gene (Nancy), Janesville, Wis.; step-children, Stephanie (Dwayne)
Prohaski, Mason City, Anthony (Terry) Savas, El Dorado Hills, Calf., Ted
(Carol) Savas, El Dorado Hills, Calif., Kris (David) Christensen, Mason
City; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; his brother
William; and sisters Kay, Marguerite and Sister Mary Grace; many nieces,
nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lois,
brother Joe, and sisters Marie and Theresa.

- Herbert F.D. Plagge, age 88, of Latimer, passed away Thursday, Aug. 4,
2011, at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton.

Herbert Frederich Dietrich Plagge, the son of Louis and Louise Immerman
Plagge, was born March 7, 1923, on the family farm north of Latimer.
Herbert grew up in the Latimer area where he attended country schools.
Herbert was united in marriage to Margaret Myli on Aug. 20, 1948, at the
Northwood Lutheran Church. The couple made their home near Latimer where
Herbert farmed his entire life. Although Herbert worked all facets of a
farming operation, livestock farming was where he spent the most time.
Herbert enjoyed being outdoors fishing. He also enjoyed very much
visiting with others, mostly over a cup of coffee.
Herbert was a lifelong member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ in
Latimer. Baptized and confirmed there, he served in many capacities
throughout his life.
Herbert is survived by his sons, Curtis and wife Beverly, of Latimer,
Gary, of Latimer; grandchildren, Meagan Wilkinson and husband, P.J., of
Seattle, Wash., Landon, of Latimer, Larissa, of Los Angeles, Calif.; two
sisters, Lorena Koch and husband, Don, of Latimer, Elaine Reinke and
husband, Don, of Geneva; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Plagge, of Hampton,
Evonne Plagge, of Latimer; numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and
friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret in 2005; infant
son, Darrell; two brothers, Laverne and Wayne.

- Linda Lubkeman, 73, of Rockwell, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011, at the
Rockwell Community Nursing Home following a long and courageous battle
with cancer.

Linda Lee Walters was born Nov. 27, 1937, in Mason City, a daughter of
Tom and Hazel (Dull) Walters. She was a graduate of Mason City High
School. Linda worked as a dental hygienist prior to her marriage.
On Nov. 14, 1956, Linda was united in marriage with Alva Lubkeman.
Together they raised their three children and worked on their farm near
Rockwell for over 50 years.
In 1977, Linda began working for A.C. Nielson Company in Mason City and
worked there until the business closed. She then became the activities
coordinator at the Sheffield Care Center and later worked as the
librarian at the Sheffield Public Library until she retired.
Linda and Alva were members of Zion St. John Lutheran Church for over 51
years and she was active in women's groups, quilting groups, teaching
Sunday school, and crocheting prayer shawls to give to others in need.
Linda also enjoyed her family and spending time with them. Her hobbies
included reading, sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting, growing
flowers, playing cards and spending time with good friends, especially
her best friends, Betty and Byron Heginger.
Linda is survived by her husband of 54 years, Alva; three children: Alan
(Paula) Lubkeman, Sheffield, Steven (Marie) Lubkeman, Rockwell, Julie
(Terry) Smith, Urbandale; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren;
sister, Sally (Charles) Walters Thrams.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Hazel Walters; two
brothers, Tom and Raymond Walters; and her great grandson Garric
Lubkeman.

Irene McMannus, the daughter of Emil and Tena Groen Trager, was born on
Sept. 15, 1921, on the family farm near Meservey.
Irene was united in marriage to Melvin McMannus and they lived most of
their married life in the Belmond area. Irene was a member of the United
Methodist Church in Belmond and a 50-year member of the Ladies Auxiliary
V.F.W.
in Belmond. Irene worked for many years at the Belmond Hospital, and
then for Winnebago Industries before her retirement in 1982.
Irene enjoyed doing puzzles, knitting, and crocheting. Her children,
grandchildren and great- grandchildren are all proud owners of her
beautiful crocheted afghans. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and
great- grandmother and will be truly missed by all.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, JoAnn Dorr, of
Belmond; son, James McMannus, Tehachapie, Calif.; grandson, Mark A.
(Ruth) Dorr, of West Des Moines; and two special great-granddaughters,
Nina Ann and Amara Grace Dorr, of West Des Moines, and many nieces and
nephews.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Tena; her husband,
Melvin; son-in-law, Jerry Dorr; brothers, August, Henry, Carl, and Fred;

- Marcia Ann Dohlman, 54, of Riceville died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at the
Riceville Family Care Center where she had resided for a short time.
Funeral services for Marcia Ann Dohlman will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday
Aug. 10, at St Peter's Lutheran Church in Riceville, with the the Rev.
Michael Parris officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today at the Hindt Funeral Home in
LeRoy and will continue at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to
the service.
On Aug. 7, 2011, after a year long battle with cancer, the Lord took to
Heaven with him a very special angel in Marcia Ann Dohlman. Left behind
to cherish her memories were her husband of 30 years, Ronald and two
sons Matthew (wife Melissa) Dohlman of Waukee, Iowa, and Wesley Dohlman
and (Special friend Samantha Madsen) of Riceville. She also leaves
behind three grandchildren, Eliana, Hayden and Davis. Other members of
her immediate family are two sisters Dorean (Leland) Loppnow of Dodge
Center, Minn., and Sharill Mueller of Rochester, Minn.; also two
brothers-in-law Doug (Renae) Dohlman of LeRoy, Minn., and Lowell (Marge)
Dohlman and a sister-in-law Darla (Dan) Koenigs of both of Riceville,
along with many nieces and nephews.
Marcia Ann Mueller was born Jan. 12, 1957, in Owatonna, Minn. She was
the youngest daughter of Herbert and Edna (Buker) Mueller. She graduated
from Clermont High School in 1975 and Rochester School of Practical
Nursing in 1980. On Dec. 13, 1980, she was united in marriage to Ronald
Dohlman in Clermont, Minn.
After their marriage, Marcia worked at the Riceville Nursing Home until
the birth of their first son. Before being diagnosed with cancer, Marcia
had worked for Andy's Mini Mart in Riceville for approximately five
years.
Her life revolved around her family, she loved going to anything her
sons were involved in whether it was a sporting event or showing
livestock at the fair. She was very proud of her two sons and her three
grandchildren. Marcia enjoyed doing crafts and going camping. She also
loved vacationing with her family to Branson, Mo., and Northern
Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Allen, and father
and mother-in-law, LeClair and Caroline Dohlman.

LAKE - Richard "Dick" Eugene Eibey, 85, 1909 Main Ave., Clear Lake, died
Sunday, August 7, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, at
the United Methodist Church, 508 Second Ave N., Clear Lake, with the
Rev. Diana Hoover officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 10, at Ward-Van
Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. Interment will be at the Clear
Lake Cemetery with the military honors provided by the Clear Lake
V.F.W.
Memorials may be given to the Richard Eibey Memorial Fund.
Richard was born May 23, 1926, in rural Ventura, Iowa, to Roy and Nita
(Ayers) Eibey. He received his education in the Clear Lake, Manly and
Rockwell schools. He served in the U.S. Army in
World War II
and was honorably discharged in 1946.
On Jan. 31, 1947, he married Shirley Hunt at the Methodist Parsonage in
Mason City.
Richard worked as an auto body repairman and dairy delivery man until
they began farming in 1948 in the Thornton and Meservey area. They moved
to rural Clear Lake in 1956, moving to town in 2003. In addition to
farming, he was a substitute mail carrier, starting in 1967, and later,
a full-time rural mail carrier until his retirement in 1990. He served
as a ASC committeeman for 17 years and was past director of the Farmers
Co-op Gas Company, lifetime Clear Lake V.F.W. member and a member of the
Clear Lake United Methodist Church.
Richard enjoyed many fishing trips to Canada, woodworking, restoring old
tractors and other farm antiques, having coffee with friends and
neighbors and most of all, entertaining his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley, one daughter, Brenda and her
husband, Tim Wichman of Clear Lake, two grandchildren, Brianna and Bryce
Wichman of Clear Lake, one sister, Lois Fields of Salida, Colo., a
sister-in-law, Bonnie Olinger of Clear Lake, and several nieces and
nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Irene Casebolt, and
three brothers-in-law, Orlan Casebolt, Glenn Fields, and Harold Olinger.

OSAGE
- Irene Gauger, 85, of Osage, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at the Good
Samaritan Society in St. Ansgar.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12, at the
Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with Pastor Sam Mack officiating.
Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Riverside Cemetery in Charles
City.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Champion-Bucheit
Funeral Home.
Irene Gauger was born March 29, 1926, in Floyd County near Charles City,
the daughter of Walter and Josephine (Gregory ) Goddard. She attended
rural schools and schools at Fredricka and Charles City, and graduated
from Floyd High School in 1945. Irene married Harlan Gauger on March 12,
1950, at Charles City. They lived in Mason City and Lake Mills, moving
to Osage in 1954. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in
Osage, where she was co-chairperson and treasurer of her church circle
several times, served on the flower committee, and was treasurer of the
United Methodist Women for four years. Irene and Harlan for many years
gave devotions each Sunday morning at the Mitchell County Care Facility
and at the former Maple Manor Nursing Home. She served as a leader of
Brownies, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Irene was a member of
Federated Women's Club of Osage and served as its chairperson. She was
also a member of the A.R.C. and of the Naturalist Club, and served as
treasurer for both organizations. Irene was an avid bird and squirrel
watcher and enjoyed fishing trips with her husband and family.
Irene is survived by two daughters, Nancy Chitwood of St. Ansgar, Kathy
(James) Squier of St. Ansgar, and children, Jamie (fiancé, Kyle Adams)
and Jason (wife, Rachel); two sons, Harlan, Jr. "Gene" (Lee) Gauger of
Jamestown, N. C., and daughter, Jennifer (Joel) Turner, Gary (Theresa)
Gauger of Omaha, Neb., and daughters, Jessica and Emily; a
daughter-in-law, Kathleen Gauger of Forest City, and daughter, Amy; four
great-grandchildren; a sister, Pat (Melvin) Decklever of Cheyenne, Wy.;
and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harlan Gauger in
1997; her son, Mark Gauger in 2011; a sister, Phoebe Lacour; and a
son-in-law, Weyman Chitwood.

CITY - Della Myrtle Grosland, 89, of Mason City, died Saturday, Aug. 6,
2011, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.
A funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 10, at St. Paul
Lutheran Church, 329 East State St., with the Rev. Sid Bohls
officiating.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Major

Della was born Aug. 12, 1921, in Pelican Rapid, Minn., the daughter of
Herman and Olga (Mielke) Feldt. In 1941, she graduated from Northwood
High School in Northwood. Della married George M. Grosland on March 6,
1948, in Iowa City. They moved to Mason City in 1948. Della received her
teaching certificate from Iowa State University. Over the years, she
worked for Northwest Airlines Modification Center, and Barton No. 5 -
Country School in Bolan.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she participated in
many church group activities. Her faith, family and friends were very
important to her. She enjoyed sending birthday cards to friends and
family. Della was a caregiver.
Della is survived by two children: Craig Grosland of Clear Lake, and
Jane (Grosland) Jensen and husband Bruce of Omaha, Neb.; five
grandchildren: Lori Grosland of Munich, Germany, Angie Grosland of San
Diego, Calif., Jason Grosland and wife Beth of Durham, N.C., Paul Jensen
of Omaha, Neb., and Sarah Jensen of Omaha, Neb.; three
great-grandchildren: Ava and Abigail Grosland of Durham, N.C., and
Sophie Grosland of Munich, Germany; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Garnas of
Clear Lake. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Della was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son: Gene
Grosland; two brothers: Arnold and Donald Feldt; two sisters: Leona
Crosby and Gladys Arndt.

- Bernadine Hildman, 90, of Britt, passed away Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at

Funeral services for Bernadine Hildman will be held on Thursday, Aug.

Bernadine Susan was born Aug. 26, 1920, to Frank and Katherine (Becker)
Hilbert in Algona, Iowa. She attended Livermore and St. Joseph schools.
After school, she worked for some farmers around the area as a hired
girl helping around farms and babysitting families.
On Feb. 21, 1950, Bernadine was united in marriage to Rudolph Hildman in
St. Joseph, Iowa. They lived in St. Joe until they moved to Rudolph's
family farm east of Wesley, where they raised their three sons. In 1969,
they moved to Britt and have resided there ever since.
Bernadine was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church where she taught
Catechism for two years. She liked to cook; she was always making
noodles, and baking bread and pies. Bernadine enjoyed embroidering and
quilting. She also always made Saturday mornings house-cleaning day.
Bernadine is survived by her husband of 61 years, Rudolph, of Britt;
three sons: Luke Hildman (special friend Evelyn) of Britt, Tommy (Valjean)
Hildman of Britt, and Mike Hildman of Britt; two grandchildren: Todd
(Erika) Hildman of Algona, and Michelle Hildman (Raymie Luse) of Britt;
four great-grandchildren: Logan, Kasey, Cole, and Autumn; along with
nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Bernadine was preceded in death by her parents, and three sisters: Anna,
Mary, and Florence.

Curtis Glen Johnson

MASON CITY - Curtis Glen Johnson, 63, Mason City, formerly of Northwood,
died Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason
City.
A sharing of memories and celebration of his life will be held from 2-4
p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11, at the Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First
Ave. South, Northwood. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the
Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood.
Curtis Glen Johnson was born on June 21, 1948, in Mason City, the son of
Alfred Conrad and Genevieve (Butler) Johnson. Curtis affirmed the faith
of his baptism through confirmation at the First Lutheran Church in
Northwood. Curtis attended and received his education in the
Northwood-Kensett Community School. After his schooling, Curtis enlisted
in the
Army
and served his country honorably and faithfully serving most of his
enlistment at Fort Hood, Texas. After his honorable discharge, Curtis
moved back to the North Iowa area working at various jobs throughout his
life, mostly in Mason City.
Curtis enjoyed working with horses and on cars.
Curtis was a former member of the 4-H Club in Northwood.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Shawn Dahlstrom of
Kansas City, Mo., Jon Smith, and Kyle Smith, both of Mason City; his
mother, Genevieve Methus of Northwood; his grandchildren, Angela
Dahlstrom, Caiden and Jon Smith.; his significant other Linda Smith of
Mason City; his sister, Sharyl (Jim) Golway of Santa Rosa, Calif., many
aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Curtis was preceded in death by his father Alfred Conrad Johnson who
died on July 12, 1986; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Marvin McKee
CHAPIN
- Marvin McKee, 81, of Chapin, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at the
Franklin General Hospital.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 11, at Zion St. John
Lutheran Church, Sheffield, with the Rev. G. Kim Wills presiding.
Interment will be at Wayside Cemetery, Chapin at a later date.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., today at Retz Funeral Home, Sheffield.
Marvin Edward McKee was born Feb. 5, 1930, in West Fork Township,
Franklin County, a son of Willie and Vena (VanHorn) McKee. He was
baptized at the West Fork E.U.B. Church and graduated from Hansell High
School. After graduation, he worked for his future father-in-law on the
farm and on Nov. 11, 1950, was united in marriage with DeAlta Roberta
Rasmussen at St. John's Lutheran Church in Coulter. Marvin was confirmed
in the Lutheran faith at St. John's Lutheran Church in Coulter, and was
a long-time member of Zion St. John Lutheran Church in Sheffield.
Marvin and DeAlta moved to a farm near Hansell then to the Sheffield
Brick and Tile farm. Later they moved to Chapin and have lived there
since. Marvin farmed, worked at the Sheffield Brick and Tile and for
Greimann Brothers in Chapin. He retired three times and each time
returned to work.
Family was very important to Marvin and he is remembered as a caring
father, grandfather and great grandfather with a great sense of humor.
He coached Babe Ruth and Little League Baseball. He enjoyed fishing,
woodworking, playing cribbage during breaks at Greimann Brothers and was
known as the family handyman who did all sorts of repair projects for
all the family members.
Marvin's family includes his wife of 60 years, DeAlta; eight children:
Janelle (Al) Fink, Hampton; DelRay (Janet) McKee, Sheffield; Jeri
(Cliff) Bonjour, Chapin; Dylan (Kristi) McKee, Sheffield; John (Jane)
McKee, Sheffield; Dawn (Pat) Hegtvedt, Sheffield; Joel (Robin) McKee,
Hampton; Donnie (Kristin) McKee, Webster City; 27 grandchildren; 29
great-grandchildren with two on the way; brother: Harold McKee,
Sheffield; sisters: Irene Annonson, Charles City and Loraine (Dean)
Schrock, Lawrence, Kan.; Ilene McKee, Kansas City, Kan., and Lola McKee,
Clarksville, and many nieces and nephews.
Marvin is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Wilbur and Bob;
brother-in-law: Alvin Annonson and great grandson Joshua.

Gertrude R. "Gert" Stoltenberg
MASON
CITY - Gertrude R. "Gert" Stoltenberg, 84, of Mason City, died Monday
evening, Aug. 8, 2011, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit
surrounded by her family.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 12, at St.
Joseph Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., with the Rev. Craig E.
Steimel and the Rev. Kenneth B. Gehling as con-celebrants. Burial will
follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Rockwell. Visitation will
be held one hour prior to Gert's Mass at the church.
Should friends desire, memorials may be left to Hospice of North Iowa.
Gertrude Rose Stoltenberg was born on June 18, 1927, in Dougherty, the
daughter of Grover and Agnes (Callahan) Lewis. She attended and
graduated from the Rockwell High School. Following high school Gert
worked for many years at Standard Oil as an office manager.
On May 3, 1952, Gert was united in marriage to Richard Stoltenberg at
St. Patrick's Church in Columbus, Ga. This union was blessed with five
children.
In her free time, Gert enjoyed flower gardening, she also loved books
and could be found reading whenever she had a free moment. But her two
greatest loves were spending time with her family and her devotion to
the Lord.
She was a member of the St. Mary Magdalene Circle and St. Joseph
Catholic Church.
Those grateful in sharing in Gert's life are her husband, Richard, Mason
City; her children, Larry (Cheri) Stoltenberg, Ames, Sam (Chris)
Stoltenberg, Mason City, Theresa Stoltenberg, Highlands Ranch, Colo.,
and Char (Jim) Ingersoll, Mason City; grandchildren, Laura, Robert, and
Richard Stoltenberg, Abby, Keith, and Van Ingersoll, and Nathan and
Kathryn Pope; great-grandson Leighton; siblings, Agnes Lewis, Mason
City, Marie Raney, Mason City, John (Sally) Lewis, Dubuque, Elizabeth

She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Cindy Pope, and
