His number one priority was his church, where he seldom missed ushering for church and funerals. He served his Lord from the back of the church.

He enjoyed simple things, like working in his garden and sharing what he grew with family and friends. He never flew in an airplane, preferring to take the bus on many of the trips he and his wife took or driving to see family and friends.

For 63 years, he was married to his wife, Alice Sivwright. They were united in marriage on Feb. 22, 1942, at the United Methodist Church in Rockwell. To this union, three children were born.

Cherishing his memory are his three children, Paul and his wife, Charleen Harris, and Sally Harris, all of Mason City; Jack D. and his wife, Karen Harris, of Washington Court House, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Adam (Bonnie), Megan, Angela, Alyson Harris, Jennifer (Jeff) Michel, Brian (Brenda) Harris, and Brad (Molly) Harris; great-grandchildren, Nate and Mason Mallo, Jayden and Lane Harris, Alyss, Melissa and Zachary Michel.

His wife Alice on April 4, 2005; parents; and one sister, Helen Miller, preceded him in death.
