Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Trinity Reformed Church in Allison, with the Rev. Steve Petroelje officiating. Burial will be in the Allison Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Allison.

CLARION - Peggy L. Alspach, 60, of Clarion, died Wednesday (Sept. 24, 2008) at Careage of Clarion in Clarion.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at the Clarion Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Dana Wendel officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

JOICE - Marlin "Marlie" V. Anderson, 74, of Joice, died Thursday (Sept. 25, 2008) at Muse Norris Hospice Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Joice, with Pastor Bill Peters officiating. Burial will take place at Concordia Cemetery in rural Joice.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills and again one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice of North Iowa.

MASON CITY - Mary R. Brunsen Becker, 81 of 1033 19th St. S.W., Mason City, died Tuesday evening (Sept. 23, 2008) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Jon Seda officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph-Elmwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E. Mason City and again one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

Today, there will be a rosary at 5 p.m. lead by the Catholic Daughters of The Americas and Lay Carmelites of Charles City, followed by a parish wake service at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary was the youngest of nine children born to Anastacio and Francisca "Ruiz" Mejia in Taylor, Texas. At age 9 she and her family moved from Granger, Texas, to Manly, Iowa, where she completed her education and graduated with the Class of 1947. She moved to Mason City a few years later and graduated from Hamilton Business School in 1954.

Mary met her future husband, Fritz Brunsen, through relatives and they were joined in Holy Matrimony at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manly on June 16, 1956, until his death on Dec. 23, 1975.

Mary enjoyed reading, crafts, dancing, vegetable gardening, family gatherings, and social events.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and Women of the Moose.

In 1989, Mary moved to Charles City where she was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Joseph's Circle, Lay Carmelite Order, Senior Citizen's Center Fun Band, and the Floyd County Hospital Auxiliary. Mary moved back to Mason City in 2002 and re-joined Holy Family Catholic Church.

Those thankful in sharing Mary's life include her one daughter, Linda Reynolds and her husband, David, of Peoria, Ill.; three grandchildren, Michelle Reynolds, and husband Randy, of Shorewood, Ill.; Michael Reynolds, and wife, Renae, of Manchester, Mo.; and Kevin Reynolds, of Edwardsville, Ill.; three great-grandchildren, Ashley, Bryce, and Haley Reynolds; one sister, Sylvia Mujica, and husband Julian; one brother, Phil Mejia, and wife Rita, all of Mason City, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death was her husband, her parents, brothers, Joe and Tony Mejia; and sisters, Dolores Escobedo, Lupe Arispe, Gabina Rodriguez and Jessie Zalazar.

Estes, Drexell Earl  
 
NORTHWOOD - Drexell Earl Estes, 85, of 1403 First Ave. N. Northwood, died Wednesday (Sept. 24, 2008) at the Lutheran Retirement Home, Northwood.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Northwood, with the Rev. Wendi Gillan officiating.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Conner Colonial Chapel, 10018 First Ave. S. Northwood, and then one hour before the service on Saturday at the church.

Family suggests memorials to Drexell E. Estes Memorial Fund.

Drexell was born July 8, 1923, on the family farm in rural Northwood, Iowa, the son of A.W. and Stella Estes. He attended Kensett School No. 6.

Drexell farmed with his father and continued to farm in the Northwood area where he also did custom farming.

He married Bernice Low April 27, 1946, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa.

During the offseason of farming, he worked for Randall Transit, Northwood Elevator and other electrical companies in the Northwood area. He also worked at the Northwood Sale Barn every Thursday for many years.

He enjoyed woodworking, spending time with his grandkids and family, doing crossword puzzles, dancing, playing cards, talking about the good old days and the coffee gatherings at Sue's Corner Post.

He was a member of United Methodist Church, Northwood.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Bernice "Sis" Estes, of Northwood; three children, Linda Estes, of Brooklyn, Iowa, Gary Estes, of Clear Lake, and Connie Buss and her husband, Andy, of Omaha, Neb.; three grandchildren, Wesley Bakken and his wife Melissa, of Elkhorn, Neb., Megan Estes, of Humble, Texas; and Allison Estes, of Burnsville, Minn.; five great-grandchildren, Rylie Bakken, Haylie Bakken, Sydney Bakken, Caleb Schlote and Elijah Latusik; and one sister, Hazel King and her husband, Joe, of Mason City; and several nieces and nephews; and special friends, John Heck and Brooke Claussen.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

KLEMME - Michael Elwyn Herman, 44, of Brownsille, Texas, a husband, father, son, uncle, cousin and friend, died June 27, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Public graveside services to celebrate his life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme, with the Rev. Paddy Druhl, officiating.

Michael is survived by son, Matthew Herman; his parents, Elwyn and Marna Herman; sisters, Carol Joy and (Ronny) Hearn, and their children, Tyler and Colby, and Deborah Marna (Todd) Schippers, and their children Rebecca, Trent, and Elaine; his 92 year-old paternal grandmother, Maurine Herman. Also surviving are his aunts and uncles, Mary and Bob Jackson, Marie and Paul Jurgens, Bill and Madonna Nueberger, David and Judy Neuberger, Marlys Luscombe, Margaret Parrett, Marilyn Cox, and Marcia and Mike Evans; also many cousins.

NORTH MANKATO, Minn. - Donald William Rachut, 85, of North Mankato, died Wednesday (Sept. 24, 2008) at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato, Minn.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in North Mankato, Minn., with the Rev. Vance Becker officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. today at the Mankato Mortuary, 1001 N. Riverfront Drive in Mankato, with time for memories at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

Monsignor Ervin John Schmitt, died Sunday (Sept. 22, 2008).

A wake and rosary was held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25 at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Church in Pueblo, Colo.

The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. today, Sept. 26, 2008, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Church in Pueblo, Colo. Interment will be in the Roselawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, gifts or donations may be made to Centro De Los Pobres, Avondale, Colo.

CLEAR LAKE - Robert L. "Bob" Sheeley, 77, of 1215 Sixth Ave. S. Clear Lake, passed away Wednesday (Sept. 24, 2008) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

According to his wishes his body has been cremated.

Bob was born in Marshalltown, on June 10, 1931. He was a Korean Veteran with a VFW Life Membership and member in Post 4868, Clear Lake. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake.

Bob is survived by his children, Robert Sheeley Jr., Diane Vasgar and Deborah League.

Bob has requested his ashes be sent to Resthaven Cemetery in Oklahoma City and be placed in a reserved niche next to his wife, Sue, of many years.

Zimmerman, Lidia  
 
SHEFFIELD - Lidia Zimmerman, 65, longtime Sheffield resident and businesswoman, died Tuesday (Sept. 23, 2008) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church at Sheffield, with the Rev. R. Karl Watkins officiating. Internment will be at Hillside Cemetery at Sheffield.

Her family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Retz-Grarup Funeral Home, Sheffield.

Lidia was born June 5, 1943, in Poltava, Ukraine, daughter of Iwan and Zina Honczarenko. When Lidia was born, the family was being taken by the Nazi's to Germany where they lived in a concentration camp until the end of World War II. While there, her father Iwan worked in an ammunitions plant. They then moved to Nuremberg, Germany, where he was a laborer.

The family came to New York on April 3, 1951. They arrived in Mason City April 5, 1951, where Iwan went to work as a hired hand for J.C. Dickenson.

Lidia attended school in Mason City, and graduated from Hamilton Business College. She moved to Cedar Rapids, where she was employed by Merchant's National Bank and later Rockwell Collins.

On Nov. 19, 1966, Lidia was united in marriage to Jack Zimmerman and they made their first home in Mason City. In 1973, Jack and Lidia purchased The Sheffield Press and later moved to Sheffield, in 1976. Lidia then went to work for Sheffield Savings Bank.

In 1977, Lidia gave birth to their first and only child, Angela Jo. She stayed home with Angela until approximately 1985 when she joined Jack at The Sheffield Press where she remained until June of 2008 when her health prevented her from working.

Lidia's hobbies included quilting, sewing, bowling, cooking and caring for her family. She was a Sunday school teacher at First United Methodist Church and was involved in Bible School and other church activities.

She enjoyed working with the children's portion of the annual Sheffield Celebration parade for several years. She especially enjoyed watching her daughter play sports and attending her dance and music recitals.

In later years, she acquired a passion for watching college and NBA basketball. Lidia enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family and friends.

Lidia is survived by her husband, Jack Zimmerman, of Sheffield; daughter, Angela (Nicholas) Jones, of Altoona, Iowa; brother, Anton (Janice) Honczarenko, of El Cajon, Calif.; sister, Helen (Duane) Lang, of Marshalltown, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Iwan and Zina Honczarenko.

NAPLES, Fla. - William E. "Bill" Stalker, 82, of Naples, Fla., passed away Sunday (Sept. 21, 2008) at Avow Hospice of Naples in Naples, Fla.
Bill was born Aug. 6, 1926, in Rudd, Iowa, to Paul and Florence Stalker. He grew up in Rudd.
Bill was united in marriage on April 14, 1947, to Marcella Mogk in Nora Springs.
Bill worked for Bell Telephone Co. in Mason City, Sioux City, Osage and Maquoketa before moving to Naples.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marcella Stalker; two sons, Greg Stalker and Dennis (Kerry) Stalker; and by John (Ann) Walker, who was a son in every sense of the word. He is also survived by two sisters, Lorraine (Leroy) French of Clear Lake and Lenore Mess of Princeton; three grandchildren, Brett Stalker, Christe (Steve) Vogele and Danielle Stalker; and two great-grandchildren, Alissa and Aubree Vogele. Bill is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Florence Stalker; two sisters, Lois and Luella; and a brother, Carlyle.
A celebration of life service was held Thursday, Sept. 25, at East Naples United Methodist Church.
If desired, memorials may be made to Avow Hospice of Naples, Florida or Rudd United Methodist Church.

ST. ANSGAR - Lucille Duenow, 82, formerly of St. Ansgar and the last few years of Rochester, Minn., passed away peacefully Friday (Sept. 26, 2008) at Faith Lutheran Nursing Home in Osage.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. today, Sept. 28, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Byron Northwick officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar.
Lucille was born on Sept. 2, 1922, and grew up in Hampton. She studied to be a cosmetologist in Mason City, and owned and operated her own beauty salon for 58 years in St. Ansgar.
She met and married Merle Duenow of St. Ansgar on Feb. 24, 1943, in St. Louis, Mo. They were married for 46 years.
Her hobbies included cooking, sewing, numerous clubs and of course her love for playing any card games.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Larry (Peggy) Guenther of Port Washington, Wis., Sandra Major of Osage, Mrs. Byron (Jayne) Edge and Mrs. David (Judy) Klompenhower, both of Rochester, Minn.; one son, retired Maj. Russell Duenow and wife (Afton) of Fredericksburg, Va.; and 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; four sisters; a sister-in-law; a brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, Merle Duenow; one son, Rickey; one brother, and two sisters.

MASON CITY - Ronald L. Krumm, 61, of No. 5 Quincy Terrace, Mason City, died Saturday (Sept. 27, 2008) at his home.

GARNER - Merle L. Schaefer, 90, of Garner, formerly of Sun Valley/Burbank, Calif., died Aug. 27, 2008 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Graveside services will be held 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme with the Rev. Thomas Healey officiating.
His body was cremated.

Severson, Pamela Dawn  
 
MASON CITY - Pamela Dawn Severson, 57, of Apache Junction, Ariz., formerly of Mason City, passed away unexpectedly Sept. 19, 2008, after a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 15, 1951, in Moorhead, Minn., where she also attended high school. She earned a BS degree in speech pathology from Moorhead State University and her masters in speech pathology from Minot State University, N.D.
For 33 years she worked for Area Education Agency in Mason City, providing speech services to children in schools around the Clear Lake/Charles City areas. She moved to Apache Junction in 2007.
As well as her love of children, she enjoyed counted cross-stitch, crafts and jewelry. She won many prizes and shared her talents with others.
Pamela was the beloved daughter of Kenneth and Beverly (Quam) Severson, also of Arizona. Other survivors include one sister, Deb (Richard Miske) Severson, of Orange City, Iowa; two brothers, Steven (Deb) Severson of Marion, Ind., and Mark (Debbie Jo) Severson of Mesa, Ariz. Five nieces and nephews, Stephanie and Kevin Severson of Marion, Ind., and Bailey, Cory and Sydney Severson of Mesa, Ariz; one godchild, Allison Quam, of Excelsior, Minn.; two uncles, Robert (Gail) Quam of Excelsior, Minn., and Dr. Leroy (Mary) Farley of Dallas, Texas; six aunts, Gloria Quam, Dallas, Elaine Lofgren, Hitterdahl, Janita Cihak, Barnesville, Lucille Alickson, Minneapolis, Audrey Julsrud, Barnesville, and Joyce (Harvey) Gilbertson, Barnesville. Numerous cousins and her beloved dog, Tulip, also survive her.
Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Godeo and Grace Quam and Knute and Mary Severson; her godmother, Shirley Quam Farley, and godfather, Pat Quam, six aunts and one uncle. Her two dogs, Zack and McGee, also preceded her.
A celebration of her life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at Faith Lutheran Church, Orange City with Pastor David Daumer officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Salvation Army, Second St. S.W. in Mason City, for children's school supplies or any animal rescue organization.

FORT DODGE - Patricia Sheeley, 64, of Fort Dodge, died Friday (Sept. 26, 2008) at Fort Dodge Villa Care Center
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Dodge. Burial will be in the Mausoleum at North Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Howard LeRoy Sheeley; a daughter, Melissa (Joseph) Freese, of Fort Dodge; two granddaughters, Lacey Sheeley and Hannah Freese; and a great-granddaughter, Addison Sheeley, all of Fort Dodge; her two sisters, Sharon Kopps and Terry Escher, both of Coralville; and a stepfather, Fred Escher of Coralville.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Virgil Kopps and Esther Escher.
Patricia Kopps was born July 21, 1944, in Mason City, and graduated from the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School in Vinton. On Oct. 25, 1964, she married Howard LeRoy Sheeley at St. James Lutheran Church in Mason City. After their marriage the couple made Fort Dodge their home.
Patricia worked at the Brooks Laundry, the Fairway Bakery, Friendship Haven, and for 26 years in the housekeeping department at Trinity Regional Medical Center, retiring in 2000. Pat loved her volunteer work at Trinity Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and also sang in the church choir.
Memorials maybe left to the discretion of the family.

STACYVILLE - Leo Smith, 101, of Stacyville died Thursday (Sept. 25, 2008) at the Stacyville Nursing Home.
Funeral services for Leo Smith will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29, at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville with Father John Moser officiating. Burial will take place at Visitation Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Today, Sept. 28, at Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, with rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a Scripture service at 6:30 p.m.
Leo Smith was born July 31, 1907, in Adams Township, Minn., to Joseph and Elizabeth (Krebsbach) Smith.
Leo married Stella Heimerman on Oct. 26, 1937, at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville. He grew up on a farm north of Stacyville. He farmed for 75 years. The last farm was six miles northwest of Stacyville where he and Stella raised their family. They moved to Stacyville in 1986.
He was known for his faith, gentle spirit and hard work. He loved farming and gardening and took special pride in raising potatoes until three years ago.
He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and Visitation Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Stella, of Stacyville; son Daniel (Sharon) Smith, of Burnsville, Minn.; daughters, Barbara Thome of Stacyville, Marilyn (Robert) Lermon of Mantorville, Minn., and Marian (Art) Anderson of Faribault, Minn.; nine granddaughters, 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bernard Smith of Stacyville and Gerwin Smith of Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Smith; sisters, Martha Jax and Margaret Smith; brothers, Nick, Greg, Ray and Gilbert; great-grandsons, Sam and Adam Bruggeman; and, son-in-law Norbie Thome.

Samuel Scott Zimmerman, one year, three months and three days old, the son of David E. and Nora (Newswanger) Zimmerman died Saturday (Sept. 27, 2008) after a farming accident at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the South Osage Mennonite Church of Osage, on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the family home from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, and again from 6 to 8 p.m. as well as the morning of the service.

ROCKFORD - Marjorie de Buhr, 91, of Rockford, died Sunday (Sept. 28, 2008) at the Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs.

Memorial services for Marjorie de Buhr will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Rockford, with Pastor Patricia Shaw, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Rockford.

Friends may call at from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main in Charles City.

Marjorie Ellen Mooberry de Buhr was born on Dec. 13, 1916, at Marble Rock, the daughter of John and Hetta (Ritter) Mooberry. She graduated from the Rockford High School in 1934.

On March 27, 1935, she was united in marriage to William "Bill" de Buhr at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They lived at Charles City before moving to Minneapolis in 1941. In 1949 they returned to Iowa where they farmed south of Rockford for 30 years. Following Bill's death, she returned to Charles City. Marjorie married Valoris Taylor on June 11, 1986.

Living family members include two daughters, Louise (Jim) Ott, of Rockford, and Bea (Bruce) Pennington of Mason City; two sons, Larry (Gayle) de Buhr of Menomonie, Wis., and Bruce (Brenda) de Buhr of Coon Rapids, Minn.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Bill de Buhr in 1978 and Valoris Taylor in 1986; a sister, Wilma Gohr; and a brother, Clint Mooberry.

Donald Kingland was born on July 24, 1939, in Lake Mills, the son of Tilden and Evelyn (Field) Kingland. He graduated from Forest City High School. He enjoyed farming throughout his life.

For the past seven years, Don made his home at the Manly Care Center in Manly.

He is survived by his three children, Debbie Kingland-Tomashefski and husband Francis of Danville, Pa.; Jody Kingland of St. Cloud, Minn. and Tim Abrahamson of Northwood. Also surviving is a brother, Wayne Kingland, of Manly; a sister, Norma (Paul) Vlieger, of Norwalk, Iowa; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Anthony (Tony) Abrahamson.

MASON CITY - Ronald L. Krumm, 61, of 5 Quincy Terrace, Mason City, Iowa, died Saturday (Sept. 27, 2008) at his home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. Mason City, with the Rev. Linda Johnson Prestholt officiating. Following the service he will be cremated and inurnment will be at 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Howard County Cemetery, Elma.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 127 Third St. N.E., Mason City, and then one hour before the service on Thursday. Moose Lodge service will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Funeral Home.

Ron was born on Aug. 11, 1947, in New Hampton, the son of Paul and Rosella (Reich) Krumm. He was raised in the Elma area. He later attended Mason City schools.

He worked for the Iowa Traction Terminal, Mason City, later Home Lumber for many years, and Wonder Bread and Wood Harbor in Mason City.

Ron loved cookouts, camping, hunting, spending time with his family and friends, demolition derbies, driving around and being Santa Claus for the kids. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Mason City.

Ron is survived by his five children, Ronnie Krumm, of Manly, Shirley Krumm Kunzman,of Clear Lake, Robert Krumm, of Mason City, Shari Krumm and her special friend, Frank Oppman, of Mason City, and Randy Krumm, of Mason City; three grandchildren, Jessica, Steven and Nikie; and four sisters, Mary Roe and her husband Wendell, of Mason City, Betty Bohl, of Mason City, Marlene Smith and her husband Gilbert, of Kiln, Mississippi, and Joan Saucier and her husband Gary, of Poplarville, Mississippi; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters. He will be sadly missed by all.

Orval was born on Sept. 2, 1920, in Spring Grove, Minn., the son of Olaf and Alma (Amundson) Mestad. He married Trina Linne Nov. 9, 1944, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake. Orval farmed in the Clear Lake area. He also worked at Bestway Manufacturing in Clear Lake.

Orval enjoyed reading sports magazines and watching baseball and football on TV. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Orval is survived by his wife of 64 years, Trina Mestad, of Clear Lake; son, Curtis Mestad, of Clear Lake; sister, Marlys Davis and her husband, Dean, of Arizona; special niece, Katherine Hanna, Boulder, Colo. and brother-in-law, Henry Jr. (Donna)Linne, of Coralville; sister-in-law, Josephine Linne, of Mason City; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Gary Mestad; two brothers, Carl Mestad and Herbert Mestad.

KIESTER, Minn. - Clarence Norman Swain, 75, of Kiester, Minn., died Sunday (Sept. 28, 2008) at Parkview Care Center in Wells, Minn.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in rural Elmore, Minn., with Pastor Dale Kohrs, officiating.

Private family burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth, Faribault County, Minn.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.

Clarence Swain was born on May 10, 1933, in Ogden, the son of Ray and Imogene (Morgan) Swain. On June 9, 1978, he was united in marriage to Pearl Koestler Rinehart in Fort Dodge. He enjoyed bowling and golfing.

Clarence is survived by his wife of 30 years, Pearl of Kiester, Minn.; stepchildren, Judy (Chuck) Knapp, of Fort Smith, Ark., Jeff (Debbie) Rinehart of Naperville, Ill., Keith (Carol) Rinehart of Kiester, Minn., Brian (Carrie) Rinehart, of Anamosa; seven stepgrandchildren; sisters, Karen (Larry) Moats, of Middleton, Idaho, and Georgia Norem, of Charles City; an aunt, LaRue Ballentine, of Boone; and cousins, nieces, and nephews.
