DOWS - Hector Anderson, 86, of Dows died Monday (Aug. 4, 2008) at his home near Dows.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church in Dows with Pastor Robert Edwards officiating. Burial will take place in the Fairview Cemetery in Dows.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the First Lutheran Church in Dows.
Arrangements are with the Dugger Funeral Home, 100 N. Lee St. in Dows.

Jensen, Michael J.  
 
ROCKFORD, Minn. - Michael J. Jensen, 52, of Rockford, Minn., died Monday (Aug. 4, 2008) at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minn., after a two-month battle with lung cancer.
He was born in Mason City, Iowa, on Dec. 12, 1955, the son of Juell and Sharlyene Ulrich Jensen.
Michael Jensen was joined in marriage to Karen Stubbe (formerly of Fon du Lac, Wis.) on Sept. 5, 1987, at St. James Lutheran Church in Mason City. God blessed their marriage with a daughter, Brittani.
Since July 1989, Mike has been employed as a machinist at the Eaton Corp. in Eden Prairie.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles with his family and friends. He also was fond of his radio-controlled monster "beetle" car.
He is survived by wife, Karen K. Jensen, and daughter, Brittani Jensen, both of Rockford, Minn.; grandchildren, Angel Sheridan and Kody Jensen; a brother: Terry (Ila) Jensen of Northwood; sisters, Deb (Dean) Pralle, Jackie (Mike) Hjelle and Becky Gump; and a half-brother, Richard (Stacy) Jensen; a half-sister, LaRae Rongey, all of Mason City; his mother-in-law, Frances Stubbe of North Fon du Lac, Wis.; and brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by children: Shannon and Daniel Jensen; his parents; and father-in-law, Willard Stubbe.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at the Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home.
A time of gathering for family and friends will be held Friday morning one hour prior to service.

ST. ANSGAR - Ervin L. Madden, 80, of St. Ansgar died Monday (Aug. 4, 2008) at his home.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Gary Gonnerman officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua.

Meleney, Leon F.  
 
Leon F. Meleney, 85, of Quincy, Ill., died Monday (Aug. 4, 2008) at 10:21 a.m. in Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
He was born March 2, 1923, in Britt, Iowa, the son of Harry and Pauline Kirschbaum Meleney.
He was a graduate of Holy Family High School in Mason City. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Leon worked for the state of Illinois as a meat inspector, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic faith.
Survivors include three sons, Todd Meleney and wife Deborah, Steve Meleney and wife Sarah and Tim Meleney and companion Beckie Todd, all of Quincy, Ill.; a daughter, Vicki Benge and her partner Chris Shipley, of Clarence, Iowa; four grandchildren, Greg Meleney, of Portland, Ore., Brian Meleney, of Quincy, Ill., Matthew Benge and wife Ann of Coralville, Iowa, and Julie Kenney and husband Paul of Chicago, Ill.; six great-grandchildren and his former wife, Erma Burton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Beverly J. Meleney and brother Paul Meleney.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Quincy, Ill., with the Rev. Kurt Hartrich officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with a 6:30 p.m. wake service.
Memorials may be directed to the Quincy Illinois Senior Center.

Miller, Irene Mildred  
 
MASON CITY - Irene Mildred Miller, 101, died Monday (Aug. 4, 2008) at the I.O.O.F. Home in Mason City.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake with the Rev. Rhoda Preston officiating. Interment will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. in Clear Lake, and one hour before the service at the church.
The family suggests memorials to Clear Lake United Methodist Church.
Irene was born Aug. 30, 1906, in Amsberg, West Virginia, the daughter of Howard C. and Hattie Blanche (Beatty) Wagner.
In 1924 she moved to San Francisco and entered the Salvation Army College for one year. She then moved to Livingston, Mont., Wichita, Kan., and to Clear Lake, Iowa, in 1928. Irene married Earl G. Miller on July 29, 1928, on a farm in rural Clear Lake where they lived until moving into town in 1951. She raised turkeys and flowers.
Irene was a member of the Clear Lake United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the Clear Lake United Methodist Women and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Sing and Sew Club since 1928. She read her Bible every day. Irene enjoyed baking small loaves of bread for the neighborhood kids and was known for her great waffles.
In August 2006, she was honored as a member of Iowa's elite class of Centenarians by Gov. Chet Culver.
Irene is survived by her brother, Erza Wagner, and wife, Angel, of Havre, Mont., and several nieces and nephews.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Earl G., in 1980; four brothers, Daniel, Calvin, Carl and Clinton; and eight sisters, Hallie Golie, Pauline Winchell, Leona Roper, Viola Smith, Murhl McFadden, Tilitha Green, Barbara and Lois in infancy.

Olson, Anna Marie  
 
BRITT - Anna Marie Olson, 85, of Britt died Monday (Aug. 4, 2008) at the Westview Care Center in Britt.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Lutheran Church in Britt with Janelle Siffring, AiM, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Cataldo Funeral Home in Britt and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
Anna Marie Olson, the daughter of William and Cora (Marth) Prull, was born March 12, 1923, in Orthel Township, Hancock County. She attended the rural schools of Orthel Township. Following her schooling, she worked in Britt at the Hemp plant, was a waitress and did housekeeping.
On Jan. 16, 1950, she was married to Maurice Olson at First Lutheran Church in Britt. They lived in Britt for a short time before moving to a farm west of Britt where they raised their family. They later moved back into town where Anna Marie remained until 2003 when she entered Westview Care Center.
She enjoyed collecting dolls, flowers, stitchwork, crafts and spending time with her family and friends.
She was an active member of First Lutheran Church and FLCW, in which she held various offices. She taught Sunday school, was a Bible school supervisor and was the church janitor for a number of years. Anna Marie also belonged to a country neighborhood birthday club and was a member of the Bell Choir at Westview Care Center.
Anna Marie is survived by her daughter, Vicki (Gary) Kahlstorf of Britt; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Mehmen of Greene; four grandchildren, Jason Kahlstorf of Glen Ellyn, Ill., Kelle Kahlstorf (fiance Corey Stohr) of Britt, Casey Olson of Rockwell City and Justin Pecoy of Greene; a sister, Alma (Melvin) Pergande of Britt; a brother-in-law, William Huber of Mesa, Ariz.; a sister-in-law, Yvonne Olson of Ottumwa; many nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice, in 1991; son, Ronald, in 1988; her parents; two sisters, Margarette Will and Viola Huber; and two brothers, Herbert and Leonard Prull.

CHARLES CITY -Walter Russ, 68, of Charles City, died Thursday (June 26, 2008) at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.
Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Riverside Cemetery in Charles City with Pastor Roger Russ officiating.
Those attending the service are welcome to gather at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m. to proceed to the cemetery.

Hillis, Lorraine M.  
 
Lorraine M. Hillis, 62, of Grand Island, Neb., died Sunday (Aug. 3, 2008) at Golden Living Center-Park Place.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, 2008 at the Kleine Funeral Home, 3213 W. North Front St. in Grand Island, with Chaplain Thayne Moore officiating. Burial will be at Cedar View Cemetery, Doniphan, Neb.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Kleine Funeral Home with the family present.

Lorraine is survived by her husband, John Sr.; two sons, John Hillis Jr. and Todd Hillis of Grand Island; mother, Beulah Rudolph, of Tomah, Wis.; and five brothers, Merlin, Ellis, Wayne, Larry and John.

She was preceded in death by her father, Rudolph.

Lorraine was born April 28, 1946, at Tomah, the daughter of Arthur and Beulah (Jackson) Rudolph. She graduated with the Tomah High School Class of 1964 and married John Hillis on Aug. 1, 1964, in Tomah. They raised their family in Iowa and moved to Grand Island in 1984.

She enjoyed crafts including ceramics and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Also surviving her are six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Matter, Leola M.  
 
WALTHAM, Minn. - Leola M. Matter, 89, of Waltham, Minn., and formerly of Osage, died Monday (Aug. 4, 2008) at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, Minn.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at St. Michaels Lutheran Church in rural Waltham, Minn., with the Rev. John Heruth officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.

Teeple, Catherine  
 
GREENE - Funeral services for Catherine Teeple, 91, of 206 S. First St., Greene, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at St Peter Lutheran Church in Greene with Pastor Ashok Patet officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at Reid's Funeral Chapel, 519 N. First St., Greene, and will continue one hour before services on Saturday at the Church.

Mary Catherine Bellows was born May 9, 1917, in rural Coldwater Township, Butler County, a daughter of Emory Hoton and Mary Katherine (Strickler) Bellows, and died Wednesday (Aug. 6, 2008) at the Liebe Care Center in Greene.

She received her education in the rural Coldwater Township Schools and attended Greene High School. On Dec. 1, 1935, she was united in marriage to Charles Arthur Teeple at the Methodist parsonage in Shell Rock. To this union were born two sons. Catherine worked as a cook at Klassi's Root-Beer Stand and at the Greene Elementary School for 28 years.

She enjoyed cooking, gardening, crocheting and reading books she borrowed from the Greene Public Library.

She was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Greene where she was a member of the Dorcas Circle and Memorial Committee for many years, and taught Sunday School. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Arthur Teeple, on Aug. 5, 1971; her parents; one sister, Leola Potter; three brothers, Emory Berdell Bellows, Max "Ozzie" Bellows and Hoton Frederic Bellows; and a half-brother, Melvin Bellows.

She is survived by her two sons, Charles Emory Teeple of Greene, and Thomas Lee (Sue) Teeple of Parkersburg; three grandchildren, Jeffrey (Pat) Teeple, David (Tammy) Teeple and Gina Marie Cisneros; five great-grandchildren, Andrew Teeple, Matthew Teeple, Travis Teeple, Richie Cisneros and Nico Cisneros; one sister, Pearletta (Loren) McRoberts, of Greene; and many nieces and nephews.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Catherine Teeple Memorial Fund in care of the family. Memorials will be divided between the Greene Public Library and the United Methodist Church.

Girard, Frank Wesley  
 
CLEAR LAKE - Frank Wesley Girard, 83, died Wednesday (Aug. 6, 2008) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. in Mason City, with Pastor Timothy C. Miller officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, with full military honors conducted by members of the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. in Mason City.
Memorials may be directed to the Frank Wesley Girard Memorial Fund.
Frank Wesley Girard was born May 17, 1925, in Yale, Iowa, the son of Albert and Lena (Wiltse) Girard. He graduated from Wesley High School. Frank was inducted into the United States Army on May 12, 1945, serving as a military policeman and later being honorably discharged. When he returned from the military he farmed for several years.
On Aug. 15, 1967, he was united in marriage to Nadine Orcutt Peterson. Frank worked at Larson Manufacturing, Winnebago Industries and Woodford Wheeler Lumber Co. After retirement he helped farm for Wayne Johnson in Forest City.
Frank enjoyed fishing, old western movies and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Nadine Girard, of Clear Lake; children including sons, Wayne, Warren and Wynn Girard, and daughters Wynnette Foss and Wendy Strand; step-son, Jerry Peterson; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Moore, Warren E.  
 
Warren E. Moore, 82, of Danville, Iowa, died Sunday (July 27, 2008) at his home. Elliott Chapel in New London was in charge of arrangements.
Inurnment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in West Burlington.
Warren was born on Aug. 8, 1925, at Burlington, Iowa, to William S. Moore and Ruth (Fisher) Moore. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1943. Warren was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippines as a radio operator. He was honorably discharged.
Warren's education included a BA and MA from the University of Iowa. His first and only teaching job was at Harding Elementary (fifth grade) in Mason City from 1950 to 1988.
Mr. Moore served as Mason City Education Association president, Harding PTO president, ACE Credit Union board member and had lifetime memberships in the ISEA and NEA.
His interests included painting, reading, collecting fossils, Iowa history, bingo and many Canadian and Minnesota fishing trips.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Survivors are cousins and those whose lives he touched at Harding School.
Colleagues recall how his educational background enriched us, how his charactor encouraged us to delve and discuss, and how his humor enlightened our days at "work." We hope we passed that joy to our students.

Parson, Lee  
 
CHARLES CITY - Lee Parson, 63, of Charles City, died Thursday (Aug. 7, 2008) at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.
Funeral services for Lee Parson will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Pastor David Werges officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City. Military honors will be conducted by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.
Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main in Charles City, and one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.
Lee Roland Parson was born Jan. 23, 1945, at New Hampton, the son of Roland and Iva (Bittner) Parson. He graduated from Charles City High School in 1962.
Lee proudly served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968. On Nov. 8, 1969, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Rassman at Saint Peter's Lutheran Church in Riceville.
He worked as a tool and die maker for many years, owned and operated Machine Tool Engineering until 1990 and then worked for Trimark as a process engineer until retiring.
His memberships included Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church and AA for 31 years.
He enjoyed dancing, camping, growing house plants, hot summer days, playing cribbage and watching the Vikings and Twins. Family was always important to Lee. He took special interest in all that they were doing, including supporting his son's coaching career, and most importantly enjoying his grandchildren.
Living family members include his wife, Dorothy Parson, of Charles City; three children, Jason (Shelly) Parson of New Hampton, Justin (Mindy) Parson of LaPorte City and Janette (Kevin) Martens of Urbandale; three granddaughters, Katlyn and Ruby Parson and Camryn Martens; three brothers, Gene (Connie) Parson of Charles City, Wayne (Mary Jo) Parson of Ionia and Gary (Jan) Parson of Clarksville; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Max.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Beyer, Darrell "Bibe"  
 
OSAGE - Darrell Lee "Bibe" Beyer, 73, of Osage died Thursday (Aug. 7, 2008) at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.

Darrell was born Aug. 18, 1934, in Rock Township, Mitchell County, the son of George and Elfrieda (Hackbart) Beyer. He received his education in Mitchell schools. On Nov. 23, 1956, he married Sharon Kay Klein at West Union, Iowa. He worked in California and Hawaii on major government projects and later worked as a self-employed carpenter. Darrell was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

He was a hobby farmer, raising deer, sheep, ducks, geese, peacocks, calves, swans, rabbits, buffalo and goats. Darrell loved hunting and fishing, especially turtle fishing, and hosted many turtle feeds.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be at the Osage Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home and will continue one hour before services at the church.

Sharon Deanna Kerns (Lugar) died Aug. 6, 2008, at the Hay-Maderia House of Treasure Coast Hospice. She was a fourth-generation Floridian, born Sept. 23, 1950, in Tampa Fla.

She was a member of the Jaycees and held many offices, eventually working her way up to national vice president. She was also the national chairperson of the St. Jude's Children's Cancer Research Foundation for over four years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Dawn Barber of Fond du Lac, Wis., and Denise Miller of Mason City; son, Justin Lugar of Garner; six beloved grandchildren; mother, Evelyn Luckey Kerns Hancock of Palm City, Fla.; sister, Donna DuBois of Palm City, Fla.; Aunt Shirley Fogel of South Carolina and Uncle Sherman Luckey of Beaufort, S.C. She leaves behind nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lt. Ernest Kerns, USN.

Memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. today, Aug. 9, 2008, at the Yates Funeral Home and Crematory, Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Mikkalson, John Alvin  
 
John Alvin Mikkalson, 75, died peacefully on Thursday (Aug. 7, 2008) surrounded by immediate family members at Hospice/Odyssey House in Palm Desert, Calif. John's passing reflected the way he lived: with courage, humor, and grace.

John was born Aug. 21, 1932, in rural Bricelyn, Minn., on his parents' farm. He graduated from Bricelyn High School in 1950 and it was there that he met his wife of 56 years, Beverly Naae. John attended St. Olaf College prior to being drafted to the Korean conflict from 1952-1954 where he was honored with a Purple Heart.

John will be lovingly remembered by his four children, Genell Mikkalson of Marlborough, N.H., Pam Halvorsen of Rochester, Minn., Joel Mikkalson of Calabasas, Calif., and Laura Brannon of Belle Plaine, Minn., as well as his daughter and sons-in-law, Cece Cummin, Peter Schoen, Dan Halvorsen and Jason Brannon.

He loved and enjoyed his grandchildren, Elias and Lucas Schoen, Kjersten, Aaron and Jordan Halvorsen, Jamie Marie Brown, Jonah and Eli Mikkalson and Kenyon and Kenyatta Brannon.

He is survived by a brother and sister and their spouses, Dale and Gail Mikkalson and Connie and Fred Krahmer, and sister- and brother-in-laws Pat Naae, Linda Ivey, and Kent and Donna Naae along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elnora Mikkalson, and his older sister, Joanne Soma.

John enjoyed his last five years living in the Palm Springs area where he enjoyed the warm weather and his lifelong passion of golf.

Prior to moving to the desert, John and Bev made their home in Mason City, Iowa, for 50 years where John worked with the Principal Life Insurance Co. Many knowing John were inspired by his enduring faith in Christ. John was an active member in the Lutheran Church and participated in various church and community organizations and enjoyed singing in the church choir.

The results of his hobby of wood carving was appreciated by many. Friends and family alike will miss his quick and easy smile and friendly engaging manner.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at the Hope Lutheran Church, Palm Desert, Calif.

MASON CITY - Rose N. Nelson, 91, of Alexandria, Minn., and formerly of Mason City, died Thursday (Aug. 7, 2008) at the Knute Nelson Nursing Home, Alexandria, Minn.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at the Holy Name Catholic Church, 507 First Ave. N.W., Rockford, with the Rev. Kenneth B. Gehling officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, with a parish rosary at 6 p.m. There will be visitation one hour prior to the mass Monday at Holy Name Catholic Church.

Rose Martin was born July 17, 1917, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, the oldest of seven children of M. Ada (Pentico) and John D. Martin. Her school years were spent in Marshalltown and Mason City, where she graduated from Holy Family in 1935. She continued her education at Hamilton Business College.

Rose was united in marriage to John J. Manusos in Mason City and later, on Aug. 2, 1967, to Melvin Arthur Nelson of Rockford. She was employed at the First National Bank and Mercy Hospital in Mason City, and at the Municipal Light Plant office in Rockford.

Rose is survived by her son, James John Manusos and his wife Judy, of Alexandria, Minn.; grandchildren Cindy (Manusos) and Keith Katch, Texas; Jay Manusos and his wife Lynette, Grimes, Iowa; Carrie (Manusos) and Bryan Ward, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Elise, Nicholas, Kelsey, Dylan and Taylor; and one brother, William Martin and his wife, Alice, of Ladysmith, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin Nelson, on March 23, 1989; two brothers, Jack and Raymond Martin; three sisters, Patricia Welsh, Jeanette Morphew and Jean Martin; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Martin.

GARNER - Lyda C. Swanson, 98, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and formerly of Garner, died Sunday (Aug. 3, 2008) at her daughter's home in Colorado Springs.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Garner with the Rev. Tim Diehl officiating. Inurnment will be in Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme.

Lyda Christina Swanson, the daughter of William and Reka (Goll) Haberkamp, was born June 3, 1910, on a farm southwest of Garner. She was baptized and confirmed in the Peace Reformed Church south of Garner.

On Nov. 24, 1937, she was united in marriage to Roy Eugene Swanson at the Peace Reformed parsonage. They lived and farmed east of Klemme until their retirement in 1975. They continued to reside on the farm until 1983, when they moved into Klemme. Lyda remained in Klemme after Roy died until September 2002, when she moved to the Prairie View Apartments in Garner. In September 2007, she moved to a retirement apartment in Colorado Springs.

She suffered a stroke on Feb. 13, 2008, and passed away on Sunday (Aug. 3, 2008) at her daughter's home, where she had resided after her stroke.

She loved her life on the farm, cooking, baking, sewing, quilting,and gardening - both vegetables and flowers. She continued to bake after moving to Colorado but found high-altitude baking a real challenge!

She was a member of Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Garner and the Women's Fellowship.

Lyda is survived by her daughter, Judi (Rich) Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandson, Adam Johnson; granddaughter, Nancy (Jack) Boehm and their two children, Amanda and Zachary; granddaughter, Joan (Rick) Leiting, and son, Gabriel Dresback; grandson, Brent (Terra) Roth, and their two children, Chelsie and Madelynn; her sister, Margaret Rutz of Renville, Minn.; sister-in-law, Phyllis (Karl) Loeffler of Ocala, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, in 1992; parents; and her daughter, Sharleen, in 1997.

OSAGE - Nettie Koeff, 94, of Osage, died Friday (Aug. 8, 2008) at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Nettie was born on June 12, 1914, at Napoleon, N. D., the daughter of John and Mary (Kalianoff) Keroff. She moved to Waverly, Iowa, where she was united in marriage to Veleko Koeff on May 7, 1937. They lived near Waverly and then moved to a farm near New Haven. Veleko passed away in 1966. In 1968, Nettie moved to Osage, where she worked at the White House Nursing Home for 16 years.

She was very active in the Ever Ready Circle at the First Baptist Church in Osage. She was also active in the Kitchen Klatter Band, and enjoyed her involvement in her Neighborhood Club and Birthday Club.

Nettie really enjoyed the numerous bus trips she took, and especially enjoyed the special times that she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at the First Baptist Church in Osage, with Pastor Paul Brown officiating.

Private family burial will be at the Harlington Cemetery in Waverly.

ROCKFORD - Glenn Walker, 85, of Rockford, died Saturday (Aug. 9, 2008) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services for Glenn Walker will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor Patricia Shaw, of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church at Rockford, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens rural Charles City. There will be a flag presentation by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Glenn Archie Walker was born on December 4, 1922, at Grundy Center, the son of Archie and Linnie (Baker) Walker. He received his education at Elma. Glenn proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. On July 25, 1949, he was united in marriage to Janet Amsden.

Glenn worked for many years at the Oliver/White Farm Corporation as a machine operator.

He was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. His interests included hunting, fishing, sightseeing, working word puzzles and putting puzzles together.

Living family members include three children, Ronald Walker of Colorado, Ronda Rinehammer of Indiana, and Roxanne (Gary) Daniel of Bondurant; seven grandchildren, Brian Walker, Casey Daniel, Nichole, Colleen and Shane Walker, and Brent and James Rinehammer; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clifford (Arlene) Walker of Stewartville, Minn. and Clyde (Berniece) Walker of Charles City and a sister, Alberta Schmidt of Elma.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sons, Randy and Roy Walker; and a granddaughter, Nichole Walker.

Weieneth, Floyd Leslie  
 
WAUKEE - Floyd Weieneth died Saturday (July 26, 2008) at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A celebration of Floyd's life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 16. Interment will be at 10:30 a.m. at the Kensett Cemetery in Kensett, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the Bolan United Methodist Church in Bolan.

Floyd was born on June 26, 1934, near Kensett to Leslie and Marion Weieneth. After graduating from high school in Kensett, he served four years in the U.S. Air Force attaining the rank of staff sergeant. After a year at Mason City Junior College, Floyd worked as a station agent for North Central/Republic Airlines in Chicago, Ill., Aberdeen, S.D. and Tucson, Ariz. He particularly enjoyed three years as a driver for "Up With People", a touring musical group. He retired from the Blood Center of Central Iowa in 1998.

Floyd's great love was music, both as a performer and spectator. His solo renditions were enjoyed at scores of weddings and other services. A great "evening out" would be taking in a Broadway musical at the Civic Center.

Whether acquiring his private pilot's license, traveling in many countries and nearly every state in the union, enjoying the stream flowing past his cabin in the Black Hills, motorcycling cross country, cooking up a great batch of oyster stew or loving the company of his faithful companions, Buster and Ginger, Floyd kept life colorful and interesting.

Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Leslie; a brother, Marlin and twin infant nephews.

He is survived by and will be fondly remembered by two sisters, Dorothy (Allan) Bratrud and Deloris (David) Delgehausen; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Weieneth; three nephews, Rick (Lori) Bratrud, Randy (Sheila) Bratrud and Kurt (Tiffany) Weieneth and three nieces, Lori (Scott) Geadelmann, Kelly (Nick) Parsons and Jo (Jason) Tornell. Ten great-nephews and nieces will miss him and his good-natured teasing.
