Aldrich, Darlene Ruth  
 
BELMOND - Darlene Ruth Aldrich, 80, of Belmond, formerly of Rowan, died Sunday (July 27, 2008) at the Belmond Health Care Center in Belmond.
Memorial services for Darlene Aldrich will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at the Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane South in Belmond. Inurnment will be at the Graceland Cemetery near Rowan.
Darlene and twin brother, Daryle, were born to James Edward and Minnie Margaret Ehler Ryan, on Dec. 11, 1927, in Rockwell City, Iowa. Darlene attended schools in Rockwell City, Dows, and Rowan.
Darlene was united in marriage to Roland Aldrich on June 1, 1964. They made their home south of Rowan until Roland's death.
On June 1, 1996, Darlene moved to the Belmond Apartments where she made many friends. She loved helping with the congregate meals and was always willing to do something for someone who needed help. She moved to the Belmond Health Center in December of 1999.
Darlene is survived by a brother, Ed (Marjorie) Ryan of Belmond; and a sister, Elsie Rockow Schroeder (Wilbur) of Dows; step-children, Holly Herren, Leilani Johnston, Dennis Aldrich, Janet Mesarvy, James Aldrich, and Curtis Aldrich; sister-in-law, Verna Ryan; many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Darlene in death were her husband, Roland, brothers Daryle, Harold, Walter, and Glen Ryan; and sisters, Alice Slatkoske, Ethel Korth, and Jean Walrod.

NORTHWOOD - Mildred Bertha Augusta Hendrickson, 92, of Northwood, died Thursday (July 31, 2008) at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.

CLARION - Gladys Hollis, 91, formerly of Clarion passed away on June 2, 2008, in Chesterfield, Mo.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. today at the Ewing Funeral Home in Clarion, with the Rev. Cynthia Morrison officiating. Burial will be at 1:15 p.m. at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City.

Lane, Henrietta "Etta"  
 
CHARLES CITY - Henrietta "Etta" Lane died Thursday (July 31, 2008) at the Ninth Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.
Funeral services for Henrietta "Etta" Lane will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City, with Pastor David Werges officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City.
Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main in Charles City. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
Henrietta Helena Rademacher Lane was born Jan. 20, 1911, at Minonk, Ill., the daughter of John and Johana (Leffers) Rademacher. She graduated from Floyd High School.
On Nov. 14, 1930, she was united in marriage to Ivan Lane at the Floyd Methodist Church. Etta was employed at the grocery store and telephone office at Floyd from 1926 to 1930; Hart Parr from 1942-1943; Hwy Caf� from 1951 to 1954; Uptown Caf� from 1958 to 1964; Point Caf� from 1964 to 1965; and 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home from 1972 to 1973.
She was a member of the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Relief Corps, Royal Neighbors, Central Star Club, Charter Member of the Woman of the Moose, V.F.W., Rebekah's, State Navy Mothers Commander, Local Navy Club, Degree of Honor and Senior Citizens.
Her interests included sewing, cooking, quilting, playing cards and bingo.
Living family members include her seven children, Ivadelle (Jerry) Stevenson of Charles City, Delton (Sharon) Lane of Charles City, Claire (Lucille) Lane of Charles City, Betty Rex of Marble Rock, John (Judi) Lane of Charles City, Linda (Allen) Steffler of LaGrande, Ore., and Virginia (Ron) Kneisel of Cedar Rapids; daughter-in-law, Janet Lane; 22 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ivan, in 1990; son, Guy Lane in April of 2008; two grandchildren, Konnie Messerlie and Jeffrey Lane; three sons-in-law, Russel Kniesel, James Messerlie and James Rex; two sisters, Jennie Onken and Alvina Koehler; and four brothers, Edmund, George, William and Herman Rademacher.

ALDEN - Rozella Leggett, 78, of Alden, died on Thursday (July 31, 2008) at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls.

O'Donnell, Constance Jean  Bodell (Morris)  
 
Constance Jean Morris Bodell O'Donnell died July 28, 2008, at age 87 at Courtyard Senior Living in Portland, Ore.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2 at Wilhelm's Portland Memorial Funeral Home, 6705 S.E. 14th Ave., Portland followed by a reception at the home of Cliff and Peggy Bodell, 2921 S.E. Tibbetts, Portland.
Born on May 8, 1921, in Mason City to Joseph W. and Bertha Johnson Morris, Mrs. O'Donnell married Joe Russell Bodell, from Mason City, in 1940. She moved to Long Beach, Calif., in 1942 to work in the shipyards while her husband was serving overseas in the U.S. Army. She moved to Portland in 1944. When her husband returned from World War II, they moved to Hillsboro, Ore., where they lived for nearly 25 years.
Mrs. O'Donnell worked for the Hillsboro Water Department and as the credit manager for the Hillsboro Montgomery Ward's. Receiving a college degree was an important goal in life for her. At age 51, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in library science from Portland State University.
Predeceased by her husband Joe in 1968, she married Kenneth H. O'Donnell in 1975. They lived in Portland until his death in 1992. The O'Donnells were avid ballroom dancers. Mrs. O'Donnell continued to dance into her early 80s. She was also a doll artist and collector.
Survivors include her children, Jim Bodell (Susan) of Macon Ga., Cliff Bodell (Peggy) of Portland, Ore., and Dee Smith (Bill) of Olympia, Wash.; grandchildren, Jeremy Bodell (Misty), Jaime Bodell, Brycen Bodell (Heather), Guy Smith (Christine), Chrystie Jones (Russ) and Kelly Smith; step-grandchild Stacey Chappel; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Johnson and Ernestine Ceradsky; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Olsen, Stan  
 
ROWAN - Stan Olsen, 61, of Rowan died Tuesday (July 29, 2008) at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.
Funeral services for Stanley David Olsen will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, at the United Methodist Church in Belmond, with Pastor Mark Pluff and Pastor Mike Druhl officiating. Burial will be held at the Graceland Cemetery in Rowan with military rites provided by the Rowan American Legion, Unit 159.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane S. in Belmond, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday morning.
Stanley David, the son of Harold and Ina (Schmidt) Olsen was born August 29, 1946, in Belmond. He grew up in Belmond, graduating from Belmond High School in 1964. He attended Mankato Business School, graduating from their three year program in two years. Stan was drafted into the Army in 1967.
He and Peggy White were married at St. John's Catholic Church in Clarion in 1970.
Stan worked as an accountant for a number of firms including Central Soya and Kiefer Built before he began his own accounting firm in 1974. He was a very community-minded individual, serving on the ambulance department as well as the fire department in Rowan. He was also a member of the American Legion in Rowan and the King Solomon Lodge, No. 210 in Belmond. Stan took an active role as a member of the Belmond-Klemme School Board for the last three years.
He was also an avid sportsman, enjoying his duck hunting and trapping.
Collecting antiques and attending auctions were hobbies Stan thoroughly enjoyed. His family and grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Stan is survived by his wife, Peg; daughter, Stephanie (Matt) Peters of Colfax; son, Dan (Tammie) of Central Asia; grandchildren, Ellie, Allison, and Sarah Peters and Hannah Olsen; brothers, Dr. Steven (Pam) Olsen of Belmond, and Karl (Marilyn) Olsen of Clarion; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Stan in death are his parents and an infant son, David.

Pringnitz, Virgil G.  
 
GARNER - Virgil G. Pringnitz, 76, of Garner died Wednesday (July 30, 2008) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 2 at the United Methodist Church in Klemme with the Rev. Paddy Druhl officiating. Burial will be in Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme with military rites by the Klemme Veterans Ceremonial Unit.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
Virgil Glen Pringnitz, the son of Emil and Anna (Schoenwetter) Pringnitz, was born December 7, 1931, on the home farm southwest of Klemme. He attended a rural school in Twin Lakes Township and graduated from Klemme High School in 1950. Virgil served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict from 1952 to 1954.
On April 14, 1956, he married Bonita Meyer at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ventura. To this union, two daughters were born, Dawn and Sue. Virgil farmed southwest of Klemme for 45 years before retiring and moving into Garner in 2001.
He enjoyed farming, raising cattle, trail riding with Boni, Dawn, Sue and all of the Saddle Club friends, helping out at the Hancock County Fair and golfing with Michael and Adam.
He also enjoyed attending cattle sales and having coffee with all of his friends in Garner and Klemme. Virgil spent many hours surveying the crops in the area, especially keeping an eye on the fields of Doyce and Marv.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Klemme, Klemme American Legion Post No. 625 and the Garner American Legion Post No. 256. He served on the Hancock County Pork and Beef Board, was a member of the Garner Saddle Club and was a past 4-H Leader.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Boni, of Garner; daughters, Dawn (Al) Kaduce of Urbandale, and Sue (Dean) Jensen of Blair, Neb.; grandsons, Michael and Adam Kaduce; brother, Ronald (Marge) Pringnitz of Kanawha; sisters, Verna Ott of Clear Lake, and Doris Groesbeck of Garner; a sister-in-law, Ruth Pringnitz of Kanawha; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jr. Pringnitz; and sisters, Lois Lange and Merlin Mau.

Schmidt, Lucille J.  
 
MASON CITY - Lucille J. Schmidt, 84, of Mason City, died Saturday (July 26, 2008) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 4, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Mason City. Officiating will be the Rev. Patti Aurand. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Alden Township Cemetery, Alden.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3 at the funeral home.

Lucille Jane Schmidt was born the second of four daughters to Anton and Edna "Watt" Pingel on Sept. 9, 1923, in rural Alden. She attended country school and then graduated in 1941 from Alden High School. While in high school she enjoyed playing on the women's basketball team which went to state.
After graduation, she worked for Clifton's Supermarket in Iowa Falls, where she met the "Peter Pan" bread man, Wayne Schmidt. Three months later, they were united in marriage at the Congregational Church in Alden on Jan. 14, 1945.
In their early years together, Lucy and Wayne lived in Waterloo and then Reinbeck, Iowa.
Lucy primarily stayed at home to raise their three children, although she sometimes took on part-time work and also supported Wayne's business ventures throughout their 59 years of marriage. In 1966 she and Wayne moved to Mason City where he owned and operated Mid-States Supply, Inc. She helped part-time at the store.
Throughout their years together, she and Wayne loved to socialize, entertain guests and family, connect with business contacts and travel. Outings often included dressing up to go dancing at the Electric Park Ballroom in Waterloo or attending social gatherings at the country club in Reinbeck.
While living in Mason City, she enjoyed attending business conventions, antique auto club meets and trips, golf, and traveling often to their second home in Arkansas.
She was an active church volunteer for many years. Lucy was a superb cook and loved baking cookies for her family and guests. Christmas favorites were her famous Santa cookies, frozen fruit salad, and fritters.
With attention to detail and fine craftsmanship, she created beautiful works through embroidery, crochet, sewing, restoration of furniture, and maintained a home always ready for guests. She was happiest when surrounded by the love and laughter of her family and friends.
Those thankful in sharing Lucille's full life include her son, Dr. Gregory Schmidt, and his wife, Dr. Brigitte Bruns, of Bishop, Ga.; her two daughters, Roberta, and her husband, Gary Tigges, Cedar Bluff, and Jody, and her husband, Gene Kimball, Ham Lake, Minn.; six grandchildren, Theron Schmidt, and his wife, Rajni Shah, Katherine Tigges, Tobias and Nicholas Schmidt, Bradley and Daniel Kimball; three sisters, Avon Plockmeyer, Holland, Mich., Edith, and her husband, Jim Barger, Cedar Rapids, Lilla, and her husband, Robert Kellogg, Alden; her sisters-in law, Odessa Schmidt, Austin, Minn., Donna, and her husband, Robert Matheson, Jefferson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in her death by her husband, Wayne, in 2004, and by her parents.

Schroeder, Doreen M.  
 
GREENE - Funeral services for Doreen M. Schroeder, 84, of 312 N. Fourth St., Greene, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church, Greene, with Pastor Gary Hatcher officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Greene.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Reid's Funeral Chapel, 519 N. First St., Greene, and will continue at the church on Saturday one hour before services.
Doreen Marlys Johnson was born July 26, 1924, in rural Dayton Township, Butler County, daughter of Menno and Rixty (Ellingrod) Johnson, and died Wednesday (July 30, 2008) at the Liebe Care Center, Greene.
She received her education in the rural Dayton Township Schools and graduated from Greene High School in 1941.
As a young lady she became employed at the First State Bank in Greene. She was united in marriage to Dale E. Schroeder on Aug. 15, 1948, at the First Presbyterian Church in Greene. To this union were born four children and seven grandchildren.
Doreen enjoyed traveling. Her memorable trips included going to Hawaii, Alaska, and on several bus trips. She enjoyed embroidery work, quilting, reading, and gardening. She participated in various church circles and Bible study. She also served on the Board of Directors of the First State Bank of Greene.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dale E. Schroeder on April 25, 1998; her parents; and two brothers: Raymond Johnson and Veron Johnson
Living family members include one daughter: Deb and Dave Jacobson, of Rochester, Minn.; three sons: Duane Schroeder of Blaine, Minn., Donald and Denise Schroeder, of White Bear Lake, Minn., Darrell and Georgene Schroeder of Rochester Minn.; seven grandchildren: Jennifer, Joshua, and Katie Schroeder, Justin and Emily Jacobson, and Maria and Sarah Schroeder.
Other living family members include brother and sisters-in-law: Cleo Johnson, Bernice Johnson, Rowena Swedlund, Verna and Archie Brott, Roy and Trudee Schroeder, Robert and Marilyn Schroeder, Shirley Schroeder, Lavone Schroeder, and many nieces and nephews.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Doreen Schroeder Memorial Fund in care of the family.

Hendrickson, Mildred Bertha Augusta  
 
NORTHWOOD - Mildred Bertha Augusta Hendrickson, 92, of Northwood died Thursday (July 31, 2008), at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.

A funeral service for Mildred will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at First Lutheran Church, 309 N. Ninth St. in Northwood, with the Rev. Barbara Wills and Navy Chaplin Jon Fredrickson officiating. Burial will be in the South Shell Rock Cemetery, rural Northwood.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3, at Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. S., Northwood. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to service time on Monday at the church.

The family of Mildred has suggested that those wishing to express their sympathy through a memorial contribution may wish to direct the memorials to the Lutheran Retirement Home Auxiliary, or to First Lutheran Church in her memory.

Mildred Bertha Augusta Hendrickson was born on Dec. 26, 1915, in Grove Township, rural Northwood, the daughter of John and Martha (Luth) Fredrickson. She was baptized on Jan. 30, 1916, at the Evangelical Lutheran Zion Church in Northwood by the Rev. J.O. Staehling and reaffirmed the faith of her baptism through confirmation in the Northwood Lutheran Church on May 12, 1929, by the Rev. J.W. Ylvisaker. Mildred attended elementary school in Grove Township No. 4, rural Northwood, and graduated from Northwood High School on May 25, 1933.

She was united in marriage to Sophus Hendrickson on Dec. 31, 1933, in the Northwood Lutheran Church by the Rev. J.W. Ylvisaker. Sophus preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 1975.

After their marriage together they farmed in the Northwood area and were active in 4-H. Sophus and Mildred moved to Northwood where they raised their three children. Mildred began her working career in the cafeteria for the Northwood High School and was known by the school children as the lunch ticket lady; and every child in the school belonged to Mildred. Mildred worked for the Northwood Community schools for 20-plus years. Mildred also was the obituary correspondent for Conner Colonial Chapel in Northwood, for the Globe Gazette, Northwood Anchor, and the Albert Lea Tribune newspapers, and during elections Mildred sent election press releases for the Associated Press.

She enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts, baking, canning, quilting and making rugs.

Mildred was a member and very active in First Lutheran Church in Northwood, was secretary and treasurer for the Abigail Circle for 25 years, church library committee, and taught Sunday school at the church. She was also a 63-year member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and was an active Cub Scout Den Mother. Mildred also loved to exhibit her baked goods at the Worth County Fair.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Carol (Bob) Crane of Johnston, Dennis (Sandra) Hendrickson of Cedar Falls, and Chuck (Janis) Hendrickson of Lake Mills; a special nephew, Jon (Patty) Fredrickson of Jacksonville, Fla.; five grandchildren, Diane (Gary) Crane-Bridgewater of Johnston, Rob (Connie) Crane of Colorado Springs, Colo., Ann (Chris) Hendrickson-Gustafson of Eureka, Ill., Trevor (Abby) Hendrickson of Cedar Falls, and Carrie (Greg) Hendrickson-Buelow of Cedar Rapids; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Mowers of San Antonio, Texas, and Dolores (Al) Mandt of Urbandale; a sister-in-law; Jerri Fredrickson of Goodyear, Ariz., as well as many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Sophus; a great-grandson, Charles Carlson; two brothers, Arnold and Donald Fredrickson; a sister, Alice Watts; and sister-in-law, Inez Fredrickson; and two brothers-in-law, Wendell Watts, and Earl Mowers.

MASON CITY - LaVonne Joyce Rinnels, 74, formerly of 14 Quincy Terrace, Mason City, died Thursday (July 31, 2008) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

NORTHWOOD - Margaret Winefred Sigmond, 93, of Northwood, died Friday (Aug. 1, 2008) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Elk Creek Lutheran Church, 4108 Kildeer Ave., Kensett, with the Rev. Thomas Martin officiating. Special music will be by Bethany Lutheran Church and Elk Creek Lutheran Church Choirs. Interment will be in Elk Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the Conner Colonial Chapel, Northwood, and then one hour before the service on Tuesday at the church.

Family suggests memorials to Hospice of North Iowa or Margaret Sigmond Memorial Fund.

Margaret was born July 30, 1915, in Brookfield Township, rural Kensett, the daughter of Alfred and Alena (Brunsvold) Anderson. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith Aug. 15, 1915, and reaffirmed the faith of her baptism on June 24, 1929. She received her education in a rural school in Brookfield Township and graduated from Kensett High School in 1934.

Margaret assisted at the farm home until Sept. 17, 1944, when she was united in marriage to Phillip Sigmond at Elk Creek Lutheran Church. Margaret and Philip made their home in Kensett and wintered in Clearwater, Fla., for 21 winters.

Philip preceded her in death May 9, 1984. She continued to live in Kensett until 1987 when she moved to Northwood.

She had a special place in her heart for Waldorf College, Forest City, where she established a scholarship in loving memory of her husband Philip in 1986. She has had the pleasure of presenting scholarships to students with a disability. As a young woman she sang in the Elk Creek choir and the Norwegian Solveig Chorus.

While residing in Kensett, she was an active member of WELCA, altar guild and the choir of Bethany Lutheran Church. In Clearwater, Fla., she was choir member of Grace Lutheran Church. Music was a big part of her life and she enjoyed playing the organ for family and friends. She also enjoyed taking care of her lawn and flowers. Margaret was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.

Margaret is survived by her nieces, Linda Hanwick Putnam of Excelsior, Minn., and Verna Kittleson of Bettendorf; and nephew, Theodore T. Hanwick of Minnetonka, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Philip; sister, Amey Johnson; brothers, Alvin Anderson and Morris Anderson; sisters-in-law, Alice Anderson, Blanche Anderson, Fern Sigmond Hanwick and Marcella Anderson; and brothers-in-law, Alvin Johnson and Theodore J. Hanwick.

Donnie Dean Amundson, 71, of Golden, Colo., died from cardiac arrest Saturday, June 21, 2008, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Denver, Colo.

He was born in Coulter, Iowa, on Oct. 26, 1936, to Art and Katherine (Peters) Amundson. He graduated from high school in Estherville, Iowa, in 1955 and went on to the community college in Estherville. He joined the army in March 1959, and while in the service was stationed in Germany, but visited several European countries during that time.

In July 1963, Donnie married Gea Elaine Hjelm. He worked in the banking and finance industries for 40 years. He was active in the church and especially enjoyed singing in the church choir. He was a member of the American Legion.

Donnie loved all animals but had a special place in his heart for his dogs. He also enjoyed watching birds and other wildlife.

He is survived by his wife; daughter, Andrea (Tim Kjensrud) Amundson; and son, Paul (Dana) Amundson, all of Indian Hills, Colo.; brother, Arthur (Nancy) Amundson of Northwood; nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A small memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Swaledale, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the church or your favorite charity in memory of Don.

LaVonne was born on Sept. 25, 1933, one of five children to Seth Dewey and Rose Lena "Denzel" Gourley in Britt, Iowa. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1952.

LaVonne married her lifelong partner of 52 years, Marvin Joe Rinnels, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Mason City on June 9, 1956. In this loving union they raised four children, Deborah, David, Terry and Kristi. Throughout their lives they did everything together and as a family, traveling, fishing at Clear Lake, Crystal Lake and Red Wing, Minn. They played 13, 500, and dice card games.

LaVonne was a devoted fan of Danielle Steel novels and read many different magazines which she enjoyed swapping with friends and family. LaVonne and Marvin enjoyed dancing to two-step waltzes and country western music. Every Sunday they shared breakfast and other times getting ice cream cones and going to East Park to watch the ducks.

When LaVonne turned 18 she began her career as a nurse's aid at Mercy Hospital and other hospitals. She continued in this field for more than 50 years retiring in 1995.

Marvin and LaVonne lived for a while in Ventura but were mostly Mason City residents. Some of her most memorable and precious time was spent with her family and friends. She collected coins and loved to shop for clothes. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Ladies of the Moose.

LaVonne is survived by her two children, Deborah M. Cowan and her husband, John, Lakeland Fla.; David Dickinson and his wife, Sue, Clear Lake; one granddaughter, Melissa Dickinson; two grandsons, Matt and Chris Holmes; three great-grandsons, Triston Johnson, Coleton and Noah Holmes; several brothers and sisters- in-law, and a ton of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, on June 13, 2008; her parents; one son, Terry, and one daughter, Kristi; three brothers, Dale, Tom and Jim Gourley, and one sister, Beverly Kalvig.

GREENE - J. Clair Nettleton, 87, of Greene, died Saturday (Aug. 2, 2008) at the Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
A funeral Mass for Clair Nettleton will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greene. Monsignor Walter Brunkan will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be held in Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene. Military honors will be conducted by the Tack-Barnett Legion Post 268 of Greene.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, where there will be a vigil scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. followed by the reciting of the Rosary. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the Mass at the church on Wednesday.
Joseph Clair Nettleton was born on Feb. 9, 1921, in rural Greene, the son of Louis and Katherine (Loughren) Nettleton.
On Dec. 31, 1947, he married the love of his life, Evalyn Poppe, at St. John's in Waterloo.
Clair grew up in rural Greene and was active on the family farm until enlisting in the Army in February 1942. Clair served on active duty in England and France before receiving his honorable discharge in November 1945.
Upon his return to Iowa, he farmed with his family until 1946 when he started working at the Oliver Tractor assembly in Charles City until 1955. Clair then farmed in rural Floyd County for 22 years before taking a job with the State of Iowa in 1977. He retired as manager of the State Liquor Store in Clarksville, Iowa. in 1987. He also worked part-time at Greene Farm Equipment Services for more than 25 years until 2003.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, American Legion, V.F.W., and the Iowa Draft Pony Hall of Fame, after being inducted in 1999 during a ceremony at the Iowa State Fair.
His interests included his family, ponies and parades, chuck wagon races, homemade cherry ice cream, and playing cards.
Living family members include his wife, Evalyn (Greene); his sons, Bruce (Marti) Nettleton of Woodbury, Minn., and Joe (Lori) Nettleton of Charles City; five grandchildren: Vanessa (Dan) Kuder, Renee' Nettleton, Marc Nettleton, Sofie Nettleton and J. Ryan Nettleton, III; one great- grandson, Joshua Kuder; one brother, Jim (Marilyn) Nettleton; three sisters: Marge (Jim) Mayer, Ellie (Jim) Hebert, and MaryAnn (Jack) Aurand; two aunts: Ceil Maxson and Loretta Loughren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Mary Eileen; and two brothers, Gerald (Gene) and Bill Nettleton.

Jim was born in Cedar Falls on May 3, 1938, the son of Arnold and Martha (Swingen) Riker. He attended school in Nashua. Jim joined the Army on June 10, 1955, serving three tours in Vietnam and was awarded a Purple Heart. He retired after twenty years in the service on July 1, 1975. Jim was a member of the Osage United Methodist Church.
Jim is survived by his wife, Janice Riker of New Haven; his children: Rosa (Tom) Brunson of Spring Valley, Minn., Teodoro Riker of Geneva, Samuel (Tamara) Riker of Hampton, Angel (Scott) Dillon of Hampton; step-children, Sterling (Julie) Bierbrodt of Osage, Janell (Mark) Vaage of Mason City, Kenton Bierbrodt of Marshalltown, Todd (Mary) Bierbrodt of Osage, David Reiser of Marshalltown; a sister, Carol Riker, of Osage; mother-in-law, Carlene Wigant of Osage; 31 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Stanley M. Hanna, 72, of Little Falls, Minn., formerly from a family farm in rural Forest City, Iowa, a graduate of Forest City High School and Iowa State University passed away Friday (Aug. 1, 2008) at his residence.
A funeral service for Stanley Hanna will be at noon today, Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Little Falls with Pastor Robert Frank officiating.

A memorial service will also be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008 at the Winnebago Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, with Pastor Bill Peters officiating and visitation one hour prior to services at church. Burial will be at Lutheran Union Cemetery outside Forest City.
Stanley Milford Hanna was born on Oct. 29, 1935, in Forest City, to the late Dewey and Ruby (Kittleson) Hanna. Stanley married Darlene Thompson on Oct. 6, 1956, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills. Stan served as state president of Iowa FFA in 1953 and spent a summer abroad in England.
After receiving his degree, he went to work for Midland Cooperative Services and he and Darlene settled in Plainview, Minn. With a promotion came a move to central Wisconsin, then onto Thief River Falls, Minn., and eventually to Little Falls, Minn. Midland eventually became a part of Land O' Lakes Companies and Stanley was a director of regional services for them. His job took him on many travels throughout the state as he worked with many co-ops and their people. Stanley was very outgoing, friendly and helpful with everyone he met.
He valued his family and visits for reunions and other occasions, and spending time with his grandchildren.
In 1998, he retired and became active in his community, especially with the local Republican Party, serving as chairman. He was also active with a radio-controlled airplane club in Little Falls.
Stanley is survived by his wife, Darlene; daughter, Susan (Michael) Blake and their children, Katie, Patrick, Kerry, Kelly, and Shannon, of Chanhassen, Minn.; son, James Hanna and his daughter, Natalie, of Minneapolis, Minn.; brothers, Richard (Dorothy) of Joice, and Thomas (Marilyn) Hanna, of Kensett; sister, Karen (Rollin) Dyer, of Indianola.

Brandee Johanna was born on May 22, 1977, along with her twin sister Brooke in Charles City, the daughter of Harvey and Sharon (Fike) Jeffries. She graduated from Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock Community Schools in 1995. While in school, she farmed with Allen Burnett.
Later she worked at the Target, Fieldstone in Northwood, until its closing and then did day care. Her attention and love for children followed her all her life and she was always participating and helping kids. During the last eight years she worked in various positions with Fort Dodge Animal Health Center in Charles City.
Brandee was active for many years in coaching summer girls softball, playing in volleyball league and enjoyed playing in weekend tournaments and camping with her family and friends. She was known for collecting Coors Light memorabilia.
Brandee will be sorely missed by her two daughters, Elizabeth K. Schweizer, age 9, along with her dad, Brad, and Avaree Johanna Jeffries age 2� and her dad, Eric Hopper, both of Marble Rock; her mother and father, Harvey and Sharon Jeffries of Rudd; her sisters, Brooke and her husband, Levi Towsley, and Brittany Jeffries, both of Rudd;, two special nieces, Bryana Jeffries, and Alysa Towsley; and one special nephew, Clayton Towsley; her paternal grandmother, Shirley and her husband, Joe Crooks, of Mason City; three aunts, Margaret Powell, Roxane Francis, and Delores Fike; two uncles, Bruce and his wife, Laurie, and Tim and his wife, Cheryl Jeffries.

He then honorably served his country in the Army in Vietnam. Upon his return to Rockford he continued farming.
David was united in marriage to Sylvia Louise Tegtmeier on March 3, 1971, in Canton, S.D. To this union four children were born.
David was an avid mushroom hunter and passed his secret spots on to his sons. He also wet his fishing line in the rivers and ponds near Rockford. One of his biggest loves was caring for his miniature Dachshunds, Oscar, Ziggy, and Zag.
He enjoyed having breakfast and coffee with his many friends in Rockford. He watched "Judge Judy" and playing Kong and other card games with his family and friends.
David is survived by his four children: his daughter, Chantel Schmitt and her husband Pat, of New Orleans; three sons, Tony Schmitt, of Rockford; Luke Schmitt, of Cedar Falls; Mark Schmitt, of Ely, Minn.; nine grandchildren, Carrigan and Colbie Schmitt, Colin DeVary, Wyatt, Maverick and Marshall Schmitt, Skylar Reis, Amber Ringgenberg and Christina Susk; his special friend, Debra Benttine, of Rockford; his brother, Nick and his wife, Janice Schmitt, of Osage; his sister, Joan Korth, of McLean, Neb.; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
His parents, Nickolas and Dorothy Schmitt, brother-in-law, Ron Korth; and his nephew, David N. Schmitt preceded him in death.

GARNER - Lyda C. Swanson, 98, of Colorado Springs, Colo., formerly of Garner, died Sunday (Aug. 3, 2008) at her daughter's home in Colorado Springs.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at the Zion Evangelical & Reformed Church in Garner, with the Rev. Tim Diehl officiating. Inurnment will be in Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.
