The family of Marjorie Pangburn has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Worth County Historical Society, Northwood United Methodist Church or for flowers because of her lifelong love of flowers.
Marjorie Pangburn was born on Sept. 18, 1912, in Grove Township, Worth County, the daughter of Gayhart and Letha (Seuser) Gabriel. Marjorie graduated from Northwood High School and worked at the Park Hospital in Mason City as a practical nurse.
She was united in marriage to Milo W. Pangburn on June 30, 1931, in Northwood, and to this union five children were born. After their marriage together they farmed on the family farm in rural Northwood, which is a century farm. He preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 1984.
Marjorie was a unique lady. She had a genuine love of antiques as well as watching the Indy 500 races, Kentucky Derby, opera and ballet.
Marjorie was a member of the Northwood United Methodist Church, Northern Light O.E.S chapter 262 and was worthy matron, founding member and former state garden club district director of the Green Thumb Garden Club, Worth County Historical society, was instrumental in having the Red Cross Blood Mobile come to Northwood, was a 4-H leader, chairman of the women’s farm bureau, a member of Worth County chorus, quilters guild, and was known as “The Hosta Lady” for her many hosta plants and flowers at her home in rural Northwood.

Richard Wallace Thompson entered the world on April 27, 1919, in Mason City, the first born child and only son of Fay L. and Myrtle B. (Morris) Thompson. He graduated in 1938 from the Mason City High School.
With the exception of working for the water department in Seattle, Wash., for three years, Richard had resided, farmed and retired in Cerro Gordo County. He took great pride in providing for his wife and family, who were always his greatest joy and priority.
On Jan. 28, 1940, Richard was united in marriage to Dorothy Irene Rucker at the Methodist parsonage in Mason City. The couple became the parents of a son, Dennis, and a daughter, Carol.

He also found pleasure in crafting and finishing woodworking projects, reading western books, ballroom dancing and socializing with his neighbors and friends. Richard’s family recall his keen sense of humor, including his “dry one-liners!” He was a stoic, left-handed, soft-spoken man who always noticed “the good and positives” in each person he met. Prior to the past few years, Richard and Dorothy wintered in the warmer temperatures of Texas for many years.
