Linda A. Lorenzen
MESA, ARIZ. — Linda Ann Lorenzen, 62, of
753 S. Privet Way, Mesa, Ariz., died at
her home in Arizona.
Graveside services will be held at 11
a.m. Monday at Rockwell Cemetery.
Officiating will be the Rev. Ronald
Bolinger of St. Peter Lutheran Church.
There will be no visitation.
Fullerton Funeral Home and Cremation
Services, Rockwell, is in charge of
arrangements.
Linda was born Aug. 12, 1943, in Mason
City, the daughter of Lawrence M. and
Iona (Witte) Lorenzen. She grew up in
Wyoming and graduated from Sundance High
School, Sundance, Wyo., in 1961. After
high school, she attended Concordia
College in Seward, Neb., and Black Hill
State College in Spear-fish, S.D.,
graduating in 1965. After graduation,
she taught elementary school in Rapid
City, S.D. through the rest of the
1960s.
In 1970, Linda moved to New Jersey to
become the office manager at a sky
diving school, where she also made her
first jump in 1972. The warm weather
brought her to Arizona in 1975. For the
next 15 years, she managed various
apartment complexes in the
Phoenix/Tucson/Mesa area.
The early 1990s brought Linda to her
permanent address in Mesa, Ariz., so
that she could provide full time care
for her father. Her brothers are
eternally grateful for the care and
compassion she provided during some very
difficult times. It was during this time
that she also began working part time
with H&R Block. Soon, she became an
office manager and instructor for many
of their seminars and was looking
forward to the upcoming tax season.
Individuals would drive extra miles to
consult with her and fellow employees
would verify the instructor before
enrolling in a seminar.
To many, Linda was known as the
butterfly lady. You might find her
browsing in antique shops looking for
butterfly patterns on everything from
plates to glasses to lamps to coffee
tables to anything else you might
imagine. If you saw a car coming toward
you and the license plate was a
butterfly, you knew it must be Linda. If
you picked up your mail and the return
address was a butterfly, you knew it
must be from Linda. If you saw someone
wearing butterflies, there was a good
chance it was Linda. If you saw anything
that had a butterfly, there was a good
chance it was already included in
Linda's collection or wardrobe.
If you know how to look, butterflies are
everywhere. Linda's butterfly collection
was vast and unique, and she proudly
displayed them in her home. If you had
the opportunity to visit her home, you
would truly be amazed and consider this
a major understatement of Linda's
butterfly passion.
Linda was preceded in death by her
parents, Lawrence and Iona (Witte)
Lorenzen.
She is survived by her two brothers:
Gary and Janice Lorenzen of Fairbanks,
Alaska, and Larry Lorenzen and his two
sons, Michael and Steven, of Denver,
Colo.; as well as her aunt, Wilma
(Witte) Hamann; and cousins and their
extended families.
