NAMON BASUK

CHARLES CITY - Namon Basuk, 72, of 905 Ellis Drive, died Tuesday (Sept. 4, 2001) at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester, Minn.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Adas Israel Synagogue, 620 N. Adams Ave., Mason City. Rabbi Barry Woolf will officiate. Burial will be at United Hebrew Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minn.

There will be no visitation. Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., Charles City, is in charge of arrangements, (641) 228-2323.


KEYRON J. FOGARTY

CYLINDER - Keyron J. Fogarty, 74, died Wednesday (Sept. 5, 2001) at his residence in rural Cylinder.

A funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Whittemore, with the Rev. Victor Ramaeker officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Whittemore.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Whittemore, with a rosary service beginning at 3:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m.

SHIRLEY CASEBOLT

FULLERTON, Neb. - Shirley Casebolt, 79, formerly of Dougherty, Iowa, died Friday (Aug. 31, 2001) at Beverly Health Care in Fullerton, Neb.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fullerton, Neb., with Father Don Cleary officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday with a 7 p.m. scripture service and a rosary at Palmer's Funeral Home, Fullerton, Neb.

Mrs. Casebolt was born Aug. 22, 1922, at Rockwell, Iowa, to Lyle and Rose (Kielty) Moorehead. She grew up in Dougherty and graduated from there in 1940. She attended LaJames Beauty College and then worked as a beautician for two years.

On June 30, 1943, she married R. Carl Casebolt in Dougherty. In 1958 they moved to Duncomb, Iowa. She worked as a bookkeeper at the elevator. In 1969 they moved to Fullerton, Neb., where Carl managed the Co-op elevator and she worked as a bookkeeper.

They also owned and operated the Patriot Inn Motel in Fullerton until Mr. Casebolt died in 1993. Shirley entered Beverly Health Care in May of this year.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking and her family.

She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, St. Ann's Altar Society and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Shirley is survived by two sons, Roger (wife Roxann) of Lake Worth, Fla., and Richard (wife Shawna) of Westpoint, Neb.; three daughters, Mrs. Mike (Judy) Frey and Mrs. Mike (Lucy) Reis, both of Fullerton, and Mrs. Ron (Sandy) Davis of Grand Island; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. William (Rita Mae) Diekhuis of Mason City, Mrs. Dean (Helen) Huff of Naples, Fla., Mrs. Ron (Genevieve) Willsher of Fort Myers, Fla., and Mrs. Clyde (Beth) McLlrath of Albuquerque, N.M.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; two grandchildren, Tara Jo and Anthony Davis; and a brother, William.

CLARENCE THOME

CHARLES CITY - Clarence Thome, 72, of 100 Cedar Terrace North, died Wednesday (Sept. 5, 2001) at his home.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Charles City, with the Rev. Stanley Hayek officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Charles City, with a flag presentation by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., Charles City. The family will greet friends from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and there will be a vigil scriptural wake service beginning at 7 p.m. followed by a rosary recited by the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will continue Saturday morning at the church an hour prior to the Mass.

DONALD M. CURL

CHARLES CITY - Donald M. Curl, 88, died Tuesday (Sept. 4, 2001) at Salsbury Baptist Home, Charles City.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the graveside service at the Senior Center of Charles City.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, with a wake service beginning at 7 p.m.

ANN S. WARD

CLEAR LAKE - Ann S. Ward, 87, died Tuesday (Sept. 4, 2001) at Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Swaledale.

Visitation will be after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials be directed to the Ann S. Ward Memorial Fund.

Ann was born Feb. 2, 1914, in rural Thornton, the daughter of John William and Allie (Steenhard) Proctor. She graduated from Clear Lake High School.

Ann married William Ward May 6, 1934, in Thornton. They farmed south of Clear Lake. They later moved to Clear Lake where she worked at the Maid Rite Café, was a dispatcher for the Clear Lake Police Dept. and later worked for the Pedeltys.

Ann enjoyed gardening and crocheting. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Clear Lake.

Ann is survived by three grandchildren, Rhonda Johnson, Robin Landers and Roxanne Farmer; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Wilma Young, Clear Lake; and a sister-in-law, Lora Proctor, Clear Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1977; a son, Ronald; two sisters; and six brothers.

ROBERT C. TULL

SWAN, Iowa - Robert C. Tull, 70, died Saturday (Sept. 1, 2001) at Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines.

A memorial service was held Tuesday in Ankeny. His body was cremated.

Robert was a retired factory worker and a veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by two sons, Rick of St. Louis, Mo., and Rob of Des Moines; a daughter, Rayci Symmonds of Des Moines; two grandsons, Larry and Ben Tull; a great-grandson, Austin; a sister, Beverly Platts of Mason; two brothers, Lloyd Tull of Virginia Beach, Va., and Larry Tull of Sheffield.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; a daughter, Ryndi; parents, Lessie and Flossie Tull; a sister, Helen Askland; and a brother, Benny Tull.


MARVIN ARNE TREES

PEQUOT LAKES, Minn.-Marvin A. Trees, 78, formerly of Forest City, Iowa, died Monday (September 3, 2001) at his residence on Upper Hay Lake.

Marvin Arne Trees was born on March 20, 1923, near Dolliver, Iowa. He was the son of Emmet and Mary (Peterson) Trees. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth.

He served his country in the U.S. Air Force Intelligence during World War II in the South Pacific from January 1943 until January 1946.

Marvin married Margie Jane Johnson on June 8, 1947, at the Methodist Church in Armstrong, Iowa. After they married they owned and operated Home Lumber Company in Forest City. Marvin also raised registered Hereford cattle for many years on his family's farm east of Forest City. They retired in 1981 and purchased their home on Upper Hay Lake near Pequot Lakes, Minn.

Marvin was awarded the State of Iowa Lifesaving Certificate, along with Jack Peterson of Forest City, for rescuing Jean McMahon from her snowbound car in the St. Patrick's Day snowstorm in March of 1965. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes, charter member of Forest Federal Savings & Loan, Forest City Development, Iowa Cattlemen's Association and the Upper Hay Lake Association. Marvin was an avid sportsman and enjoyed the outdoors.

Survivors include his wife, Margie, Pequot Lakes; children, Mark Trees and his wife, Margret, Breezy Point, Minn., Marion Trees, Forest City, Marty Trees and his wife, Lona, Forest City, Mary Kingland and her husband, Marvin, Hanlontown, and Marshall Trees and his wife, Mary, Plymouth; nine grandchildren, Jessica Trees-Walter, Emily Kingland Beenken, Sara Trees, Andy Trees, Ann Trees, Katherine Kingland, Rebecca Kingland, Tyler Trees and Zachary Trees; and one great-grandchild, Madeline Walter.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be Friday, Sept. 7, at the Immanual Lutheran Church, Forest City, with Pastor Michelle Simonson officiating.

Northland Funeral Home, Pequot Lakes, Minn. is in charge of funeral arrangements.


GERTRUDE SCHAEFER BEIER

KLEMME -Gertrude Schaefer Beier, 101, died Tuesday (Sept. 4, 2001) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Klemme with the Rev. Paddy Druhl officiating. Burial will be in Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Tenold Funeral Home, Klemme, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church Saturday.
