MASON CITY - Mary C. Leake, 85, formerly of Mason City, died Friday (June 15, 2001) at the Clinton Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton, Mo.

TITONKA - Olive Carlton, 80, of Titonka, died Thursday (June 14, 2001) at the Titonka Care Center.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Good Hope Lutheran Church in Titonka, with the Rev. James L. Berka officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Clinton-Garfield Cemetery in Rolfe.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home in Titonka.

MARGARET LEONA KING

OXNARD, Calif. - Margaret Leona King, of Oxnard, passed away May 21, 2001.

The funeral was held on Friday, May 25, 2001 at Payton Mortuary Chapel in Oxnard, Calif., with Pastor Mary Jane King officiating. Burial was at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura, Calif. with Pastor May Jane King officiating.

Mrs. King was born May 15, 1906 in Danville, Ill. and had been a Ventura County resident for 58 years, coming from Mason City, Iowa where she had worked as a presser for Lyon's Laundry.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle H. King Sr.; parents, William H. and Bertha Mae Pittenger; brothers, W.O. and Glen Pittenger; sisters, Olive Nelson, Exie Waltz, and Pearl Pittenger; and grandson, Anthony McAtee.

Mrs. King is survived by her son, Lyle (Mary Jane) King, of Carlisle, Pa.; daughter, Nancy McAtee, of Port Hueneme, Calif.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

HELEN T. BONNINGER

THOMPSON - Helen T. Bonninger, 93, formerly of Thompson, died Monday (June 4, 2001) in Boulder, Colo. She had been ill for several years.

Committal services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thompson.

She was born on a farm southwest of Thompson on Jan. 7, 1908, the seventh of eight children of Julius and Mathilda (Nelsrud) Johnson.

She graduated from Thompson High School, was active in drama at Waldorf College and graduated from Iowa State College.

She taught school at Winterset, Iowa before settling in Borger, Texas where she was a Red Cross administrator until her retirement. She enjoyed her work as she was a "people person" not only in work but also in private life.

In October of 1952, she married Otto Bonninger, a Phillips Petroleum engineer. Upon retirement about 1970, they moved to Boulder, Colo. Her husband died in 1993. Helen later sold their home and lived the past several years in assisted living homes and finally in nursing homes.

Her body was cremated and she will be laid to eternal rest next to her parents and brothers, Gisle and Clarence.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews in Iowa, Montana, Arizona and California. Area survivors include Norma Fulton, of Clear Lake, Dorothy Twito, of Lake Mills, Glenn Willis, of Clear Lake, and Don Anderson, of Forest City.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four brothers, Joe, Gisle, Clarence, and Elmer; and three sisters, Clara Holland, Mabel Anderson, and Selma Willis.

PATSY LENNING

GOLDFIELD - Patsy Lenning, 68, of Goldfield, passed away Thursday (June 14, 2001) at her home peacefully with her husband and children at her bedside.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 19, at the Assembly of God Church, 322 S. Commercial in Eagle Grove.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, with the family present, at the Assembly of God Church.

Patsy Ruth Lenning was born Aug. 27, 1932 in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of John and Margaret Frost. She grew up and attended school in the Mason City area.

Patsy was united in marriage to Ed Lenning on Aug. 27, 1949 in Mason City. Patsy was an avid golfer and she and her husband, Ed, were very active in raising and showing bulldogs. Pat and Ed were inducted into the Bulldog Club of America Hall of Fame for producing 14 champion bulldogs.

She worked for Kramersmeier Drug for several years before her retirement. She loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making ceramics, playing cards, reading, crocheting, traveling with her sisters, playing bingo, and spending time with her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Edwin, of Goldfield; daughter, Debra Govern and her husband, Ray, of Bancroft; son, David Lenning and his wife, Toni, of Salt Lake City, Utah; son, Charles Lenning and his fiancée, Rita Hemmer, of Goldfield; daughter, Patricia Lenning, of Thornton, daughter, Peggy Goates and her husband, Kent, of Thornton; son, Edwin Lenning and special friend, Tricia Krieger, of Clarion; 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marge Coburn, of Kingman, Ariz., Evelyn Holman, of Kingman, Ariz., Jean Solum and her husband, Marvin, of Des Moines, Barbara Renberg and her husband, Art, of Henderson, Nev. and Hope Winders and her husband, Roger, of Waterloo; sister-in-law, Fran Frost, of Monticello; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Frost; sister, Jacqueline Connors; brother, John Frost Jr.; sister, Francis Frost; infant sister, Alona Frost; grandson, Cory Goates; and great-granddaughter, Emily Berte.

Interment will be at a later dated at Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield.

DARRELL 'ANDY' D. ANDERSON

MASON CITY - Darrell "Andy" D. Anderson, 74, of 117 16th St. N.E. died Wednesday (June 13, 2001) at his residence.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday June 18, 2001 at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E. with the Rev. Jeff Dahlin of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. A flag folding ceremony will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home on Sunday.

Darrell was born March 13, 1927 the son of William and Hazel (Curtiss) Anderson in Mankato Township, Blue Earth County Minn. Following high school Darrell went to work at Wilson and Co. Meat Packing.

On March 7, 1945 he enlisted into the United States Navy. Darrell served his country until his honorable discharge on July 10, 1946. Following his tour of duty he returned to Wilson and Co. in Albert Lea and helped relative's farm on the side.

On May 7, 1955 Darrell was united in marriage to Ramona Harpel. The couple made there home in Mason City where Darrell began working for Jacob E. Decker and later Armours until his retirement.

Darrell loved to spend time outdoors whether it was fishing or passionately working in his garden. He also enjoyed playing cards with his friends.

Those thankful for having shared in Darrell's life include seven children, Pam Robinette and her husband, Larry, of Mason City, Penny Anderson, of Maine, Gene Anderson and his wife, Marilynn, Scott Anderson, Orville Anderson and his wife, Nancy, Henry Anderson, and LaMar Anderson, all of Mason City; a special friend, Connie Johnson, of Mason City; three sisters, Edith, Mary Lou Pearson of North Highland, Calif., and Maxine Campbell, of North Highland, Calif.; four brothers, Virgil Anderson, Dennis Anderson, and Bill Anderson all of Albert Lea, Minn., and Curt Anderson, of Glenville, Minn.; 16 grandchildren, Jennifer, Tyler, Curt, Scott, Kama, Krystel, Bobby, Jordan, Nicole, Miranda, Ramona, Tiffini, Christina, Justin, Destiny, and Hope.

Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ramona, in 1984; two sisters, Violet Svendfen, and Doris McCarty; and two brothers, Gary and Paul Anderson.

HAROLD F. BIANCO

MASON CITY - Harold F. Bianco, 87, of Mason City, passed away on Thursday (June 14, 2001) at the Good Shepherd Care Center.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with the Rev. Jani Dahlin, of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Monday morning at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel.

Memorials may be directed to the Charles H. McNider Art Museum.

Harold was born on March 5, 1914 to Anthony and Jessie (Cavendar) Bianco, in Spirit Lake, Iowa. He attended both the University of Iowa and Iowa State University, graduating from Iowa State with a degree in Architectural Engineering.

Harold was married to Alice Wagler on Feb. 24, 1940. After serving in the Navy during WWII, he returned to Iowa and moved to Mason City during the 1940s.

Harold practiced architecture in the area for years, served on the State Board of Architectural Registration for years, and was an active member of the Masonic organization and the Elks.

Harold is survived by a brother Robert, of Stuart, Fla.; a son, James Bianco and his wife, Lynne, of Minnetonka, Minn.; a daughter, Lisa Bianco, of Iowa City; and four grandchildren, James Bianco and wife, Lori, of Berkley, Calif., Krista Strom and husband, Dan, of Coon Rapids, Minn., Aaron, of Minneapolis and Nicholas Zuehlke, of Iowa City.

Harold was preceded in death by his son, Steven and wife, Alice.

CRYSTAL LAKE - Mike Kadlecik, Jr., 44, of Crystal Lake, died Thursday (June 14, 2001) at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the Woden Crystal Lake High School in Crystal Lake, with the Rev. Robert Snitzer officiating. Burial will take place in the Crystal Lake Cemetery

LUELLA MAY 'LEE' WHITT

MASON CITY -Luella May "Lee" Whitt, 87, of 136 26th St. S.W., died Friday (June 15, 2001) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Her funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City. Visitation will continue Tuesday one hour before services at the church.

MERVELL LESLIE RUSSELL

REDDING, CALIF. - Mervell Leslie Russell, 88, of Redding, Calif., formerly of Mason City, died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at the Mercy Medical Center in Redding.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, June 16, at the Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126-Third St. N.E., Mason City, with Rev. Joel Dahlen of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Mason City officiating. Inurnment was held at the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mervell Leslie Russell was born on Aug. 23, 1912, in Mason City, the son of Elmer and Cloe "Audrey" (McGown) Russell. He attended and received his education in the Mason City school system, graduating from Mason City High School.

He was united in marriage to Minnie E. Weitzel on Dec. 24, 1931, in Mason City. She preceded him in death on Aug. 12, 1999. During World War II, Mervell worked as an Aircraft Mechanic. He also worked for 30 years as an automotive parts mechanic for Siddels Co. in Mason City until his retirement. He enjoyed carving wood figurines, music, photography, wintering in Florida with his wife and camping. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Mason City.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Delores Schulte, of Manly, Dixie Roth and her husband, Kenneth, of Milford, and Jack Russell and his wife, Jan, of Redding; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Also left to cherish his memory is a brother, Donald Russell, of Charles City; and a sister, Marie Buckland, of Mason City; as well as other relatives and friends.

Besides his wife, Minnie, Mervell was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Robert N. Russell.

EILEEN BLISS

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. - Eileen Bliss, 81, passed peacefully at home in Scottsdale, Ariz., on June 11, 2001, after a brief battle with leukemia.

Her memorial service was held Friday, June 15, 2001, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Phoenix.

Memorials are suggested to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and may be sent to Bonnie Elder, 5733 E. Estrid, Scottsdale, Ariz., 85254.

Eileen was born March 22, 1920, in Canton, Minn. She graduated from the Minnesota School of Business and had a 35-year career with the United States Soil Conservation Service, serving several northern Iowa counties. After her retirement in 1979, she spent many happy summers in her Mason City home and sunny winters in Arizona. While living in Arizona, she met her husband, Joe, and tied the knot in Mason City on Oct. 30, 1993. She enjoyed country-western dancing, cooking, flowers and her beloved pets.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Kopa, and her daughter, Bonnie Elder, of Scottsdale, Ariz. Other family members include her brothers, Marv (Vi) Randall, of Carlsbad, Calif., Robert (Billie) Randall, of Minnetonka, Minn., sister, Doris Olson, of Edina, Minn., and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Minnie Rosenthal, of Harmony, Minn.

FOREST CITY - Emma Eames, 89, of Forest City, died Saturday (June 16, 2001) at her home in Forest City.

ELIHUE HAROLD 'BEEK' LINK

IONIA - Elihue Harold "Beek" Link, 74, of Ionia, passed away Friday morning, (June 15, 2001) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City, of natural causes.

His funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, with burial in Riverside Cemetery, both in Charles City.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Chenoweth & Son Funeral Home, 319 Main St., Nashua, and one hour before services at the church on Tuesday.

Memorials may be directed to the family or to the charity of your choice.

He was born in Chickasaw County on Jan. 29, 1927, the son of Elihu and Agnes (Jordan) Link. He attended Chickasaw country schools and graduated from Charles City High School in 1945. He served with the United States Army during World War II. He received the Army of Occupation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and World War II Victory Medal.

He was united in marriage to Leona Florence Koeneke on Jan. 18, 1948, in Charles City. To this union five children were born. Leona passed away April 20, 1979. Beek then married Leona Rowley on Sept. 18, 1982. She passed away in April 1990. Glenda Hildebrand and Beek were united in marriage on July 13, 1992, at Charles City. He worked at the Charles City Livestock Exchange and later was a self-employed cattle buyer and farmer. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, an associate member of Messiah Lutheran Church and also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose.

Beek is survived by his wife, Glenda; two sons and their spouses, E. Michael and Dee Link, of Ionia, and Greg and Edie Link, of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; three daughters and their spouses, Linda and Normand Klemesrud, of Charles City, Debbie and Mike Hayman, of Bettendorf, and Cindy Maag, of LeClaire; seven step-children, Gloria Palmer, of Mason City, Joanne Boyd, of Loveland, Terri Allen, of Cedar Falls, Karen Hagarty, of Waterloo, Richard Tibbitts, of Charles City, Joyce Boehmer, of Charles City, and David Tibbitts, of Nashua; one brother, Louis Link, of Ionia; seven grandchildren, Nathaniel Klemesrud, Jason Klemesrud, Kari Prigge, Trevin Hayman, Alissa Maag, Courtney Maag and Ashley Maag; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Madison; 15-step grandchildren; and 10 step great-grandchildren.

Beek was preceded in death by his wives, Leona (Koeneke) Link and Leona (Rowley) Link, his parents, Elihu and Agnes (Jordan) Link; one sister, Nellie Crooks; and one great grandson, Parker Prigge.

MARBLE ROCK - Leonard Klink, 84, of 1450 290th St., Marble Rock, died Saturday (June 16, 2001) at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church, Rockford. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.

CLINTON, MO. - Mary C. Leake, 85, of 1101 East Ohio No. 605, Clinton, Mo., died Friday (June 15, 2001) at the Clinton Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

Memorials may be directed to the Mary C. Leake Memorial Fund.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and will continue until time of service on Monday.

Mary Catherine Leake was born on Aug. 20, 1915, in Chicago, the daughter of Antones and Marcella Urbikas. She attended St. Joseph's Catholic school. She worked as an aide and a cook at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital.

She was united in marriage to Raymond Leake on Oct. 28, 1932, in Mason City. In 1958, she moved to Illinois, where she worked for 20 years as an assembler for Motive Industries. After Illinois she moved to Waterloo, where she lived for five years before moving to Missouri. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mason City and she attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Clinton, Mo. She enjoyed spending time crocheting and cooking. Making meals for many was a joy to Mary and many will never forget the delicious dishes she prepared.

Those left to cherish her memory include daughter, Virginia Smith, Mason City, daughter, Donna Kriz and husband, Melvin, of Waterloo, daughter, Ruth Ann Bulyar and husband, Bob, of Deep Water, Mo., son, Raymond Leake and wife, Gail, of Plymouth, Mass., and daughter, Mary Jo Buehler and husband, Bob, of Romeoville, Ill.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Pauline Daukas.

LUELLA MAY 'LEE' WHITT

MASON CITY - Luella May ''Lee'' Whitt, 87, of 136 26th St. SW, died Friday (June 15, 2001) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Luella was born June 8, 1914, the daughter of John and Sophie (Smith) Schaer in Rockwell. On June 29, 1934, she was united in marriage to William H. Lee in Mason City. Mr. Lee died May 26, 1969. Luella got remarried on May 15, 1972 to George R. Whitt in Elmore, Minn.

Luella loved to travel, she was known to never plan out a trip but to just pack up and go. She enjoyed baking goodies for her grandchildren (especially sweets). She also spent many hours working on her canning projects. Luella could often be found working with her flowers, knitting, working on her puzzle book, and playing with her puppy, and playing games with her grandchildren. She was always ready to go for a ride to look at the scenery. Luella was a member of the VFW ladies auxiliary, the fraternal order of Eagles #3416, and St. James Lutheran Church. She was a former member of the Moose Lodge.

Those thankful for having shared in Luella's life include her husband, George; two daughters, Billajean M. Collins and Dixie J. Willis, both of Mason City; one stepson Gale Whitt, of Minnesota; two sisters, Iona Johnson and Henrietta Calahan, both of Mason City; one brother, Lloyd Schaer, of Mason City; 11 grandchildren, Terry Austin, Louis Collins, Larry Collins Jr., Teresa Collins, Wayne Willis, Shawn Leman, Rex Willis, Dawn Warner, Clint Willis, Marcie Steel, and Quint Willis; three step- grandchildren, JoAnna Whitt, Shelly Arndt, and Pamela Francis; 38 great-grandchildren; five great-great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Whitt was preceded in death by her parents, first husband William H. Lee, one sister Marian, two brothers, Harold, and Lawrence, one grandson Jim Collins, four great-grandchildren, and two sons-in-law.

EMMA EAMES

FOREST CITY - Emma Eames, age 89, of Forest City died Saturday (June 16, 2001) at her home in Forest City.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Civic Auditorium in Forest City. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Forest City .

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Petersen Lund Funeral Home and continuing at the Auditorium prior to the service.

Emma Anna Jensen Eames was born May 11, 1912, on a farm near Aredale, in Butler County, the daughter of Andrew and Jennie (Williamson) Jensen. Her father died before her birth and she was raised by a devoted and loving mother. The family moved from Aredale to Greene, so the children could attend high school. She graduated in 1930. Following her normal training, she taught in rural schools for five years before her marriage. In the winter of 1925, God's true servants came to the Jensens' and the gospel was embraced by the family, and she, at the age of 13 accepted the invitation for herself. She has remained faithful to her convictions until her death.

On July 22, 1936, she was united in marriage to Maynard Eames. Together they celebrated sixty-four years and eleven months of devotion. Her greatest enjoyment in life was her home and the love for her family and friends in the gospel. After retirement, she and her husband traveled extensively enjoying their friends in fellowship.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Maynard; a son, Bob and wife, Sharon, of Forest City; a daughter, Lois Turner and husband, Darrell, of Iola, Kan; grandchildren, Carmen and Wade Eames, Jennifer and husband, Abe Scott, Elaine Turner and Darin Turner and wife, Jessica; nieces, nephews, cousins; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Ethel Anderson, two brothers, Lloyd Jensen and Donald in infancy.

MASON CITY - Lucy Mataloni, 96, of 722 North Van Buren, died Saturday (June 16, 2001) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2001 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 North Adams, with the Reverend Dennis Cahill officiating. Interment will follow at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., where a scriptural prayer service will also be held at 5:30 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to Lucy Mataloni Memorial Fund or to Hospice of North Iowa.

Lucy was born Sept. 13, 1904, in Brownsville, Pa., the daughter of Alfonso and Gustina (Vicoli) Di Marco. She moved to Mason City with her family in 1910. Lucy was united in marriage to Alfred Mataloni on Nov. 25, 1923, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the St. John Circle.

Lucy is survived by two sons, Henry J. Mataloni, of Mason City and Alfred Mataloni and his wife, Betty, of Okoboji; four grandchildren, Richard Mataloni, his wife, Connie, and their children, Teresa, Angela, and Rebecca, all of Sibley; Paula Juffer, her husband, Paul, and their children, Ben and Nicholas, all of Des Moines; Thomas Mataloni, his wife, Cathy, and their children, Kyle, and Alec, all of Chicago; and Alfred Mataloni, his wife, Suzie, and their children, David, Allison, and Andrea, all of Des Moines; three brothers, Levino Di Marco and his wife, Lena, of Mason City, Al Di Marco and his wife, Mitzi, of Bella Vista, Ariz., and Gus Di Marco and his wife, Judy, of Clear Lake, two sisters, Julie Nelson, of Clear Lake, and Teresa Danehy of Arleta, Calif.; and one sister-in-law, Kay Di Marco, of Mason City.

Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, in 1956, her parents, five brothers, one sister, one daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren.

LEONARD KLINK

MARBLE ROCK - Funeral services for Leonard Klink, 84, of 1450 290th Street, Marble Rock, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at the United Methodist Church in Rockford. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, in Rockford.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Reid's Funeral Chapel in Marble Rock and will continue Tuesday at the church one hour before services.

Leonard Klink was born southwest of Rockford, Scott Township, the youngest of 13 children of Paul and Anna (Quakk) Klink, and died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at the Ninth Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City. As a young boy , the family moved to live in the Janesville area for several years where he received part of his schooling and later returning to Rockford area where he finished his schooling and started farming as a young man.

He was united in marriage to Mildred Inman on July 13, 1946, at the Rockford United Methodist Church. They farmed east of Rockford later moving to their present farm west of Marble Rock. He retired from farming in 1990. Leonard was a life long member of the United Methodist Church in Rockford. His interests included collecting toy tractors, reading and keeping up on what was new in farming and agriculture, watching Westerns on television, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. One of his greatest joys was his Alaskan Husky named Rocket.

He will be sadly missed by his two sons, David, of Rockford and Alvin and his wife, Susan, of Marble Rock; five grandchildren, Michael (Vivian) Klink, Shelly Klink, Rhonda (Jeremy) Stephens, Leroy Klink, Edna May Klink; and two great-grandchildren, Jeremy Paul Stephens and Jeffrey Donavon Stephens; one sister, Nellie Stephens, of Oregon; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred (1985), parents, six brothers, Paul, John, Jake, Corney, Crenny, Joseph, the twins, Marinus and Marina, three sisters, Jenny and Helen, Mina, and a daughter-in-law, Nancy Hillman Klink.

PATSY LENNING

GOLDFIELD - Patsy Lenning, 68, of Goldfield, passed away Thursday (June 14, 2001) at her home peacefully with her husband and children at her bedside.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at the Assembly of God Church, 322 S. Commercial in Eagle Grove.

Visitation was held on Monday, with the family present, at the Assembly of God Church.

Patsy Ruth Lenning was born Aug. 27, 1932, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of John and Margaret Frost. She grew up and attended school in the Mason City area.

Patsy was united in marriage to Ed Lenning on Aug. 27, 1949, in Mason City. Patsy was an avid golfer and she and her husband, Ed, were very active in raising and showing bulldogs. Pat and Ed were inducted into the Bulldog Club of America Hall of Fame for producing 14 champion bulldogs.

She worked for Kramersmeier Drug for several years before her retirement. She loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making ceramics, playing cards, reading, crocheting, traveling with her sisters, playing bingo, and spending time with her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Edwin, of Goldfield; daughter, Debra Govern and her husband, Ray, of Bancroft; son, David Lenning and his wife, Toni, of Salt Lake City, Utah; son, Charles Lenning and his fiancee, Rita Hemmer, of Goldfield; daughter, Patricia Lenning, of Thornton, daughter, Penny Goates and her husband, Kent, of Thornton; son, Edwin Lenning and special friend, Tricia Krieger, of Clarion; 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marge Coburn, of Kingman, Ariz., Evelyn Holman, of Kingman, Ariz., Jean Solum and her husband, Marvin, of Des Moines, Barbara Renberg and her husband, Art, of Henderson, Nev. and Hope Winders and her husband, Roger, of Waterloo; sister-in-law, Fran Frost, of Monticello; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Frost; sister, Jacqueline Connors; brother, John Frost Jr.; sister, Francis Frost; infant sister, Alona Frost; grandson, Cory Goates; and great-granddaughter, Emily Berte.

Interment will be at a later date at Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield.

DARRELL J. HALSTEN

MASON CITY - Darrell J. Halsten, age 78, of Marshalltown, formerly of Mason City, died on Sunday (June 17, 2001) at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City with Dennis Hudson officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association.

Memorials may be given to the Darrell J. Halsten Memorial Fund.

Darrell J. Halsten was born on May 7, 1923, in Mason City, the son of Herman "Jack" and Capitola (St. Peter) Halsten. He attended school in the Mason City public school system.

On Jan. 28, 1941, Darrell entered the United States Navy and served his country during World War II. He was honorably discharged from active service on May 16, 1946. Darrell then made his home in Mason City, where he worked as an electrical engineer for Interstate Power. Later, Darrell moved to Lawton, Iowa, where he worked as a mechanic.

In 1993, Darrell moved to Marshalltown, and entered the Iowa Veterans Home. The care and concern that was shown to him will never be forgotten, and special thanks need to be directed to the excellent caregivers on Sheller 3.

In December of 2000, Darrell received his honorary diploma from Mason City High School. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. Darrell was also very mechanical, and he had a way of fixing anything.

Those left to cherish his memory are his two children, Dari Marino and her friend, Mike Stumpe, and Holly Bradbury, both of Mason City; a grandson Justin Bradbury, of Mason City; aunts and uncles, Dixie and Ernie Hudson, of Mason City, and LaDonna and Leroy Knutson, of Mason City; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; second wife, Harriet; and a brother, Duane during World War II.

CHARLES MCLEAN STILFIELD

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Charles McLean Stilfield, 81, of Port Charlotte, Florida, died of a respiratory ailment Sunday, June 3, 2001.

A Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, at Faith Baptist Church in Hampton, Iowa.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

Mr. Stilfield graduated from high school in Eldon, Iowa. He served during World War II in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service as Motor Machinist Mate Second Class.

He was married Nov. 29, 1958, to his wife, Patricia. He moved to Clear Lake in 1958 and was employed by the City of Clear Lake for several years and was later employed by Beck Construction. He moved to Florida in 1978.

He enjoyed collecting coins and antiques.

Mr. Stilfield is survived by his wife, Patricia; a son, Richard and his wife, Lien, of Des Plaines, Ill.; three daughters, Sharon May and her husband, Dennis, of Kensett, Chrystina Dahm and her husband, Randy, Oceanside, Calif. and Cherie O'Donnell, and her husband, Paul, Hampton; 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward Eugene Stilfield and his wife, Mildred, of Saxe, Va.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Diane Stilfield; and an infant grandson, Benjamin Stilfield.

GREGOR LOECHER

OSAGE - Gregor Loecher, 95, of Osage, died Monday (June 18, 2001) at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home in Stacyville.

Gregor was born Dec. 15, 1905, at Stacyville, the son of Mathias and Mary (Weber) Loecher. He attended school in Stacyville.

Gregor was united in marriage to Rosella Theobald on Jan. 7, 1931, in Stacyville. The couple farmed in the Stacyville area until 1967, when they retired and moved to Osage. Rosella died on Dec. 20, 1986. In 1990, Gregor moved to the Manor in Mason City, and he had resided in the Stacyville Community Nursing Home for the past five years.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was formerly active in the Osage Senior Citizens, where he assisted with the blood drives, Meals on Wheels and other senior activities. After retiring, Gregor enjoyed gardening, fishing, square dancing, playing 500 and playing pool.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, with Father Philip Recker officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Osage.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, with a 7 p.m. rosary.

He is survived by one daughter, Darlene Schneider and her husband, Clem, of Mason City and their children, Karen Vitale and her husband, Domenic, of River Falls, Wis. and their children, Matthew and Sarah, Mark Schneider and his wife, Michelle, of Georgetown, Texas, and their daughter, Kieran, and Sharon Luehrs and her husband, Jeffrey, of Apple Valley, Minn., and their son, Nathan; one sister, Isabelle Theobald, of Sheboygan Falls, Wis.; one sister-in-law, Louise Wolf and her husband, Ray, of Austin, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.
