NICK PARCHER

CLEAR LAKE - Nick Parcher, 53, of 1401 Southland Dr., Clear Lake, died Monday afternoon (May 15, 2000) surrounded by his family at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Galilean Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, with the Rev. Peter Narum officiating. Interment will be at Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. today at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E. in Mason City.

Nick was born a twin son on March 2, 1947, at Floyd County Memorial Hospital, one of eight children of Donald and Beth (Emery) Parcher. He graduated in 1965 from Rockford High School and then attended NIACC.

He farmed with his father near Rockford and then was employed as a truck driver for Rockford Brick and Tile. He later worked for Dahlen Trucking during the winter and Ruan Transport in the summer. Nick owned and operated Parcher Radiator Repair in Clear Lake for a period of time and then was employed at Opportunity Village until driving truck for Blackowski and finally D&J Transfer until health forced his early retirement. He also spent time delivering a rural route for both the Globe Gazette and the Des Moines register, often accompanied by his children.

On Oct. 27, 1967, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Kock, at Zion Lutheran Church in Rockford. They raised three children. Nick was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he was baptized and confirmed. When he and his wife moved to Clear Lake they became members of Galilean Lutheran Church.

He was also a member of the Cedar Valley Engine Club and the North Iowa Antique Tractor Association. He was a faithful participant at the Wednesday morning prayer breakfasts. Nick always had time for his children and grandchildren and often lent a helpful hand at Marilyn's Day Care, where he was the professional chef for his wife.

His love of children carried over to his repair of bicycles for kids and the residents of Opportunity Village. He also enjoyed tinkering and repairing antique tractors and small engines. Some of his happiest times were spent fishing at Gull Rock Lake in Canada with his son, Nick. He was a former member of the Evening Lions in Clear Lake.

Those thankful in sharing in Nick's life include his wife of 32 years, Marilyn of Clear Lake; his father, Don Parcher, of Rockford; his mother, Beth Parcher, of Nora Springs; his children and grandchildren, which include his daughter Julie Parcher, of Clear Lake; his sons, Nick and his wife, Stacy and their daughter, Abbigayle Parcher, of Vincent; James "JT" and his wife, Andrea Turnbull, of Clear Lake and their children, Cole and Mikayla; two sisters, Bonnie Caspers-Carpenter and her husband, Richard, of Rockwell and her children, Brandon and Amanda; Janet and her husband, Lyle Winter of Letts and their children, Shiloh and Justin and grand nieces, Skye and Jori and grand nephew, Drake; three brothers, Nick's twin, Larry, and his wife, Jeannie Parcher, of Rudd and their children, Lori and Bradley; Steve Parcher, of Laredo, Texas, and Ronald and his wife, Margie Parcher, of Rockford, and their children, Troy, Brett, and Blake; one brother-in-law, Jim O'Rourke, of Mason City and his children, Mike and Michelle and her children, Brody and Joshua.

Nick was preceded in death by his sister, Linda O'Rourke; and brother, Michael Parcher; two nieces, Sarah Parcher and Amy O'Rourke; and two brothers-in-law, Jack Caspers and Roger Hrubes.

CMDR. USN RET. WILLIAM 'BILL' THOMAS MARR

CLEAR LAKE - Cmdr. USN Ret. William "Bill" Thomas Marr, 63, of Clear Lake, died Wednesday (May 10, 2000) in Molokai, Hawaii. Memorial services will be Monday, May 22, 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Clear Lake, with Monsignor Joseph Slepicka and Monsignor Robert Hogan officiating.

Memorials may be given to the William and Laurel Marr Memorial Fund at Opportunity Village, Clear Lake.

Bill was born Aug. 3, 1936, in Appleton, Wis., the son of Urban Thomas and Dorothy Elizabeth (Canisius) Marr. The family moved to Osage when he was nine years old. Bill graduated from high school at Loras Academy in Dubuque, in 1954. He attended St. Thomas College, St. Paul, Minn., and graduated in 1956.

Bill went in to the Navy in Beeville, Texas, and started his Naval Career. His tours of duty included Korea, the Philippines and Vietnam. He retired as a Navy Commander in Marimar Naval Base, Marimar, Calif., after 23 years.

Bill met his wife, Laurel Venteicher, when he was nine years old. They were neighbors and very close family friends. They were married in 1957 at Sacred Heart Church, Osage. They have lived numerous places with the Navy including Georgia, Florida, California and Iowa. They have four children. They moved to Clear Lake so their daughter Katy could live at Opportunity Village.

Special interests included flying and playing golf. He was a very devoted family man and father. Bill was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the V.F.W.

He is survived by four children, Michael Marr and his wife, Lisa, of Los Gatos, Calif., Elizabeth Wilkinson and her husband, Dave, of Sandy, Utah, Charles Marr and his wife, Behlen, of Whittier, Calif. and Katy Marr, of Clear Lake; one sister, Joan Nagy and her husband, Al, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; one brother, Tom Marr and his wife Cheryl, of Newton; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both parents; and one sister-in-law, Gladys L. Marr.

LAUREL JEAN MARR

CLEAR LAKE - Laurel Jean Marr, 63, of Clear Lake, died Wednesday (May 10, 2000) in Molokai, Hawaii. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 22, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Clear Lake, with Monsignor Joseph Slepicka and Monsignor Robert Hogan officiating.

Laurel was born Nov. 13, 1936, in Osage, the daughter of Lambert and Libby (Paetz) Venteicher. She graduated from Osage High School in 1955. She went to college in Winona, Minn., and became a registered nurse.

Laurel met her husband, Bill Marr, when she was eight years old. They were neighbors and family friends. She married Bill in 1957 at the Sacred Heart Church in Osage. They had four children. With Bill's career in the Navy, they lived in Georgia, Florida, California and Iowa. She was the backbone of the "family" because Bill's travel duties with the Navy kept him gone a lot.

Laurel worked as an infusion specialist with Mercy Home Care from April 1992 to September 1997. She was a member of the INS (Intravenous Nurses Society). She loved volunteering for Opportunity Village and St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Her new interest was learning to play golf. Bill and Laurel loved to play cards and were in a 500 Card Club. Laurel was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

She is survived by four children, Michael Marr and his wife Lisa, of Los Gatos, Calif., Elizabeth Wilkinson and her husband, Dave, of Sandy, Utah, Charles Marr and his wife, Behlen, of Whittier, Calif. and Katy Marr, of Clear Lake; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister-in-law, Gladys L. Marr.

JODENE ANNE BRODERICK

MASON CITY - Jodene Anne Broderick, 32, of Mason City, formerly of Protivin, died Sunday (May 14, 2000) in Clear Lake, as of the result of an accidental drowning.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 19, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin, with the Rev. Allen Schmitt celebrating the Mass. The pall will be placed on the casket by her two brothers. Music for the service will be provided by Verda Mikota as organist and Colleen Busta as vocalist. Lector for the service will be Maureen Busta. Interment will be in the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Protivin, with Joe Rosonke, Jeff Rothus, Chad Larson, Steve Pettit, Scott Petersburg, Peter Blodgett, Gary Pecinovsky and Allen Pecinovsky as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jean Ann Rosonke, Lisa Brown, Cherie Flatjord, Glenda Bodensteiner and Nancy Hagensick.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Hugeback's Protivin Funeral Home where there will be a 4 p.m. scripture service. Further visitation will be held from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

If so desired, memorials may be made to the family.

Jodene was born June 6, 1967, in Cresco, the daughter of John and Judy (Pecinovsky) Busta. She attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin and was a graduate of the Turkey Valley High School Class of 1985.

In 1987 she started working for IMI Cornelius Company in Mason City, where she was currently employed as a buyer.

On April 9, 1994, at the Lakeside Church in Clear Lake, she married Terry Broderick. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mason City.

Jodene mostly enjoyed being with her family and friends and spending time with them on their boat.

She is survived by her husband, Terry, of Mason City; three children, Kyle David Gonnerman, Kole William Broderick and Kallie Jo Broderick, all at home; her parents, John and Judy Busta, of Protivin; two brothers, Jeff (Sue) Busta of Calmar and Jayme (Kandi) Busta, of Atkins; her father and mother-in-law, William and Alice Broderick, of Lansing; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, John James Busta, in 1962; paternal grandparents, William and Viola Busta; and maternal grandparents, Joseph and Martha Pecinovsky.

CHARLES CITY - Edna Roalfs, 81, formerly of 1004 Ferguson St., died Wednesday (May 17, 2000) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Sunnyside Chapel Funeral Home in rural Charles City and one hour prior to services on Friday at the Church.

ARNOLD 'MARLIN' GUNDERSON

LAKE MILLS - Arnold "Marlin" Gunderson, 82, of Lake Mills, died Wednesday (May 17, 2000) at the Lake Mills Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Leland, with the Rev. Dan Christensen officiating. Burial will be in North Prairie Lutheran Cemetery, rural Leland.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

MASON CITY - Terry D. "Curly" Warner, 41, of Mason City, died Wednesday (May 17, 2000) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 125 E. State St. in Mason City.

His body was cremated. There will be no visitation.

LAKEVILLE, Minn. - Margaret "Peg" (Deutz) Porter, 54, of Lakeville, Minn., formerly of Nora Springs, died Wednesday (May 17, 2000) at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall, Minn. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery in Marshall.

JORDAN N. ZAMORA

NEVADA - Jordan N. Zamora, infant son of Humberto and April Zamora, died Monday (May 15, 2000) at the Marshalltown Hospital.

Jordan was born Dec. 12, 1999 in Ames, to Humberto and April (Drenth) Zamora-Villa.

He is survived by his parents, of Nevada; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Mary Drenth, of Nora Springs; and his paternal grandparents, Luis and Maria Zamora-Villa, of Cebollas, Mexico.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery, with Father James Hayes officiating.

Visitation will be held from noon until 2 p.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.

Memorial may be given to the Jordan Zamora Memorial Fund.
