PLYMOUTH - Henry H. Hedegard, 94, died Wednesday (Aug. 2, 2000) at Good Shepherd Care Center, Mason City.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, Plymouth, with the Rev. Deborah Stowers and the Rev. Richard Pippert officiating. Inurnment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Plymouth.

CHARLES CITY -Fae (Mrs. John S.) Flint, 96, a former resident of Ionia, died Wednesday (Aug. 9, 2000) at the Riverside Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City with the Rev. Jack Ivey, pastor of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Charles City, will be officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery at Nashua.
Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Hauser Funeral Home where the family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday.

KANAWHA - Oren Buryl Thorson, 78, died Thursday (Aug. 10, 2000) at Kanawha Community Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, at Kanawha Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. William Breen, interim pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Amsterdam Township Cemetery in Kanawha.

VERLAND 'TOM' CECIL FAUGHT

MASON CITY - Verland "Tom" Cecil Faught, 84, of 2037 12th St. N.E., died Friday (Aug. 11, 2000) at the Good Shepherd Care Center.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Douglas Anderson of First United Methodist Church officiating, with a flag folding and Taps performed by the Mason City Memorial Association. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Verland C. Faught Memorial Fund.

The body was cremated. Visitation was held at Major Erickson Funeral Home on Sunday.

Verland "Tom" C. Faught was born May 3, 1916, in Kirksville, Mo., the son of Cecil and Amy (Wood) Faught. He attended schools in the Kirksville area. Following school he worked for several years before entering the United States Army and serving during World War II.

After his discharge from the service, he met and married Ethel Zorn in February 1944. Following her death, he married June G. Cox Patterson. He worked for several years as a produce manager at the Clifton (later Grupp) Grocery Store. After the closing of the store he worked as a carpenter doing many jobs for Les Nelson at the Willowbrook Mall. He had an instrumental part in the development of the Lime Creek Nature Center. He was the past president of the Mohawk Archery, attended the First United Methodist Church, was a member of the Moose Lodge and a past president of the Tuesday Night Men's Bowling League. He was an avid outdoorsmen with his first love archery followed by catfish and trout fishing and bowling, and he was also an avid cribbage player.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Tom Faught and wife, Sharon, of Mason City; step-daughters, Gail Hignight and husband, Jake, Jill Denniston and Myrna Patterson; sister, Edith Westcott and husband, Lawrence, of Medford, Ore.; brother, Audrey Faught and his wife, Dorothy, of Manly; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, brother, Elvis Faught, and one grandson, Danny Faught, and a sister, Betty Edwards.

CLEAR LAKE -Daniel Dallas Buol, 23, of 15386 Bayside Ave., Clear Lake, died Saturday (Aug. 12, 2000) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.

Funeral services are tentatively set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Galilean Lutheran Church, Clear Lake.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake.

ROCKFORD - Remadena 'Rem' Mrs. 'Burr' Eichmeier, 83, a former resident of 101 Eighth St., S.E., Rockford, died Saturday (Aug. 12, 2000) at the Nora Springs Care Center, Nora Springs.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Rockford, with the Rev. John Albrecht officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 South Main St., Charles City, from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, where the family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday morning at the church from 9 a.m. until service time.

CORWITH - Vera F. Babcock, 93, of Corwith, died Saturday (Aug. 12, 2000) at the Kanawha Community Nursing Home, Kanawha.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church, Corwith, with the Rev. Kim Gates officiating. Burial will be in Amsterdam Township Cemetery, Kanawha.

JEANETTE S. ANDERSON

JOICE - Jeanette S. Anderson, 91, of Joice died Saturday (Aug. 12, 2000) at the Good Shepherd Health Center, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Joice with the Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery in rural Joice.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, Lake Mills, and one hour prior to services at the church.

Jeanette Senora Anderson was born May 30, 1909, in Winnebago County near Joice, the daughter of Christ and Andrea (Harthold) Rusley.

On Sept. 1, 1939, she was united in marriage to Wallace M. Anderson on the Rusley farm near Joice. Wallace passed away on Nov. 22, 1963. Jeanette entered the Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City in November of 1995. She passed away there on the morning of Aug. 12, 2000.

She is survived by her daughter, Connie and her husband, John Sabin, of Lake Mills; grandchildren, Kevin and his wife, Brenda Sabin, of Austin, Minn., Roxanne and her husband, Rick Rasmussen, of Piedmont, S.D.; great-grandchildren, Amber Lyn Sabin and Haley Jo Sabin; and one sister-in-law, Christine Jenson of Lake Mills.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers and one sister-in-law, Oscar, Bennie, Julius and his wife, Lorraine Rusley.

DOROTHY LORRAINE JOHNSON

KANAWHA - Dorothy Lorraine Johnson, 74, of Kanawha, passed away Saturday (Aug. 12, 2000) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Kanawha Lutheran Church, Kanawha with the Rev. Robert Dodge officiating. Burial will be in Amsterdam Township Cemetery, Kanawha.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ewing Dugger Funeral Chapel, Kanawha and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Dorothy, the daughter of Amel and Viva Mae Zeigler Brown was born Dec. 18, 1925, at Columbus, Mont. She moved to Henry, S.D., where she attended elementary school and was confirmed in the Christian faith at Graceland Country Church, near Henry, S.D. In 1935, following the death of her mother, she moved to the home of Loren and Gladys Zeigler, near Kanawha. In 1944, she graduated from Kanawha High School. She was a sales representative for the Tupperware and Watkins products for many years.

She was united in marriage to Kenneth Johnson in Iowa City on July 6, 1946. The couple made their home in Kanawha. The love of her life was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Kanawha Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Those thankful for having shared in Dorothy's life include a son, Marvin and wife, Diane, of Kanawha; three daughters, Jan Johnson, Algona, Julie and husband, Russell Peters, of Kanawha, and Kristy Allen, of Belmond; seven grandchildren, Jasmine and husband, Scott Lester, of Corwith, Danille Allen, of Cedar Rapids, Jamison Johnson, of Kanawha, Candice Johnson, of Britt, Brandon Allen, of Belmond, Tasha Johnson, of Kanawha, and Zachary Johnson, of Kanawha; three great-grandchildren, Wade and Erika Lester, of Corwith and Sydney Zamago, of Britt; and a special aunt, Gladys Zeigler, of Kanawha.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Arnold, her husband, Kenneth, one sister, Beatrice Hoffman and a special uncle, Loren Zeigler.

ELIZABETH HOCKENSMITH

MASON CITY - Elizabeth Hockensmith, 94, formerly of 1115 Eighth St. S.W., died Friday (Aug. 11, 2000) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit of congestive heart failure.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel, Boone, with the Rev. Clem Currans officiating. Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral chapel in Boone from noon until 9 p.m. today, where the family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the chapel.

Elizabeth Hockensmith was born April 7, 1906, in Boone County in Iowa, the daughter of George and Rebecca (Kincage) Duncan. She married Leslie E. Hockensmith on April 25, 1925, in Fort Dodge. She attended school and lived in Boone until 1950. She later lived in Dayton from 1950 to 1958, then moved to Des Moines from 1958 to 1967 and finally moved to Mason City in 1967 to live with her daughter. She moved to the Iowa Odd Fellows & Orphans Home four years ago.

She was a cook at various restaurants in Dayton and Des Moines and later was a cook at several nursing homes. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors Lodge, the Rebekah Lodge and she enjoyed playing bingo, reading and enjoying the activities of her grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Leslie Hockensmith, of Warren, Ohio; one daughter and son-in-law, Eloise and Donald Abbott of Mason City; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and one great-great-grandson.
