FRED D. FABER

KENSETT - Fred D. Faber, 72, of rural Kensett, died Thursday (Sept. 9, 1999) at the Methodist Hospital, Minneapolis, Minn.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Manly, with the Rev. Thomas McAndrew officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, in Manly, with military graveside honors by the San Juan VFW from Mason City.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Sunday at the Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 E. Spring St., Manly, with a public scripture service at 7 p.m.

Fred D. Faber was born in Latimer, Iowa on Dec. 22, 1926, the son of Peter and Signe (Larsen) Faber. He attended school in Tommerup, Denmark; Sheffield and one year in Waterloo until being drafted into the U.S. Army, serving overseas in Manila and Japan during World War II.

He was united in marriage to Helen Scholl on April 23, 1949, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockwell. After their marriage, together they farmed in the Sheffield area until moving to Hanlontown in 1954 where they continued to farm until his retirement in 1991, but still continuing to live on the farm.

He enjoyed dancing, cards, traveling, bowling, wintering in Texas, exercising, reading and boating.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, was trustee and on the parish council at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Manly, member of the Resurrection Church in Alamo, Texas, Eagles Lodge in Albert Lea, Minn., San Juan VFW in Mason City, North Central Community School Board member from 1968 until 1974, Hanlontown Elevator Board Member and was very active in other community activities in the North Iowa area.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Helen Faber, of Kensett; a daughter, Bev Kaduce, of Clive; a son, Tom Faber and his wife, Irene, of Kensett; four grandchildren, Jennifer Malone and her husband, Travis, of Drexel, Mo., Justin Faber, of Kensett, Sara Miller and her husband, Dale, of Emporia, Kan., and Ann Kaduce, of Emporia, Kan.; three stepchildren, Jason Rollene and his wife, Courtney, of Laramie, Wyo., Melissa Sporaa, of Clarion, and Ryan Rollene and his wife, Amy, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Dylan Sporaa, Ethan Rollene, and Kaleob Rollene; one sister, Johanna Van Houten, of Mason City; one stepsister, Anna Larsen, of Elk Horn; and one sister-in-law, Grace Faber, of Mason City; as well as other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Signe Faber; stepmother, Petra Faber; and two brothers, Lee and Richard Faber.

NICHOLAS D. 'NIC' LENZ

CLEAR LAKE - Nicholas D. "Nic" Lenz, 13 year-old son of Mark and Lisa Lenz, of 6 S. 19th St., died Thursday (Sept. 9, 1999) at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at the United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Interment will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake and again from 9 until 11:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. There will be additional visitation one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.

The family suggests memorials to the Nicholas D. Lenz Memorial Fund.

Nic was born Oct. 14, 1985 in Mason City, the son of Mark and Lisa (Bachellor) Lenz.. He was in the eighth grade in Clear Lake Middle School.

Nic enjoyed collecting Beanie Babies, cooking pancakes for the family, his Saturday morning trips to the Village Store, riding horses, babysitting little kids, riding his bike, and his animals, and he was a Chicago Bull fan.

He was a Globe-Gazette carrier.

He was a confirmed member of the United Methodist Church of Clear Lake and a member of the United Methodist Church Youth Group.

Nic is survived by his parents, Mark and Lisa Lenz, of Clear Lake; his brother, Dustin Lenz, of Clear Lake; maternal grandmother, Helene Bachellor, of Clear Lake; paternal grandparents, Gayle and Carol Lenz, of Riverside, Calif.; paternal great-grandmother, Alice Sessions, of Mason City; four aunts, Patty Biery and her husband, Dan, of Mason City, Lori Adams and her husband, Brad, of Northwood, Laura Bachellor, of Charles City, and Lynn Bachellor, of Houston, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Paul Bachellor, in 1983.

NORTHWOOD - Charles Lloyd Jones, 86, of Northwood, died Friday (Sept. 10, 1999) at the Northwood Lutheran Retirement Home.

HELEN M. CAMPBELL MULLIN

DOUGHERTY - Helen M. Campbell Mullin, 87, of Dougherty, died Wednesday (Sept. 8, 1999) at her daughter's home in Western Springs, Ill.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dougherty, with the Rev. Leo Reilly officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Dougherty.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Patrick's Parish hall, Dougherty, with a scriptural wake service following at 5 p.m.

RUTH IRONS LANE JACOBSEN

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Ruth Irons Lane Jacobsen, 78, of San Antonio, formerly of Rock Island, Ill and Mason City, Iowa, died Friday (Sept. 10, 1999) at the Regent Care Center, San Antonio, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Trinity Episcopal Church, Rock Island, Ill. Burial will be in Rock Island memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, Ill. prior to services at the church.

EVELYN MESCHER GUY

ALGONA - Evelyn Mescher Guy, 71, of Algona, died Friday (Sept. 10, 1999) at the Good Samaritan Center, Algona.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Algona, with Father Steve Brodersen officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Bancroft.

Visitation will be held from 2:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, in Algona with a 3 p.m. parish rosary and a 7 p.m. parish prayer service.

DIXIE ANN HAHN

HAMPTON - Dixie Ann Hahn, 47, of Hampton, died Wednesday (Sept. 8, 1999) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Faith Baptist Church, Hampton, with the Rev. Steve Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Allison Cemetery, Allison.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services today at the Church.

EARL STANTON TAYLOR

UKIAH, Calif. - Earl Stanton Taylor, 91, of Ukiah, died in his sleep on Saturday (Sept. 4, 1999) at the Sun Bridge Convalescent Care and Rehabilitation Center, Quincy, Calif.

A resident of Quincy, Calif. for the past month, he had moved here from Ukiah, Calif. where he had resided for eight years. He had resided in Mason City, Iowa for over 45 years moving to Florida for a short time following his retirement in 1969.

Earl Stanton Taylor was born Oct. 9, 1907 in Sajw, Ga. He attended Barry College in Rome, Ga.

He owned and operated Taylor's Mobil Service Station for 38 years in Mason City.

A staunch Democrat, he was a former member of the Mason City Masonic Lodge and Shrine.

He is survived by his three daughters, Judith Brooks Buck, of Quincy, Calif., Nancy West, of Clayton, Ga., and Pauline "Polly" Bennallack, of Hopeland, Calif.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Opal Wallace, of Gastonia, S.C.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Mae Taylor in 1978, in Bradenton, Fla.

Following cremation, the family will hold graveside services will be held in Sautee-Nacoochee, Ga.
