J.P. LAUGHLIN

WEBSTER CITY - J. P. "Pat" Laughlin, 79, of Webster City, formerly of Mason City, died Friday (Nov. 5, 1999) at the Southfield Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, with the Rev. John Walsh officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post No. 191.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Foster Funeral Home, Webster City, with a 6:45 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. scripture service. There will be visitation after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

MARIO J. CUCCUINI

CHARLES CITY - Mario J. Cuccuini, 68, of 909 18th Ave., died Thursday (Nov. 4, 1999) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., with Monsignor Stanley J. Hayek, pastor of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, officiating, with a flag presentation at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Burlington, N.J.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Hauser Funeral Home, with the family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until time of services on Monday.

WILHELMINA E. HEITLAND

GOODELL - Wilhelmina "Minnie" E. Heitland, 87, of Goodell, died Thursday (Nov. 4, 1999) at the Gladbrook Care Center in Gladbrook.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church, in Clarion. Burial will be in the Goodell Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Willim Funeral Home in Clarion, with a 7 p.m. vigil service.

DONALD E. CLEMENS

CLEAR LAKE - Donald E. Clemens, 51, of Clear Lake, died on Wednesday (Nov. 3, 1999) at the Bethesda Rehabilitation Center, in St. Paul.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Burial will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation was held on Friday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake.

Memorials may be directed to the Clemens family.

Don Clemens was born on Sept. 22, 1948 at Long Beach Naval Hospital in Long Beach, Calif., the son of Charles M. and Ruth L. (Cox) Clemens. He graduated from Ventura High School in 1967 and went on to complete his Electrical Apprentice Training courses in Waterloo. Don served his electrical apprentice with several electricians in the Mason City area before working for a number of years at Dewey Electric in Ventura.

Don was first married on Nov. 15, 1975 to Danette Starr. In 1976, he began his own business, D.C. Electric in Clear Lake.

On Nov. 11, 1990, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Don was united in marriage to Marcia Russell.

Don was a member of the Clear Lake United Methodist Church, the IBEW No. 288 and the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. He also coached local Little League baseball for many years. Don enjoyed '50s and '60s music and loved to attend dances at the Surf. He was an outdoors fan who liked to downhill ski, bicycle and golf. One of Don's favorite activities was to drop anchor in the middle of Clear Lake with his family. He was a loving son, husband, father and a special big brother.

Don is survived by his wife, Marcia, of Clear Lake; his parents, Charlie and Ruth, of Ventura; three sons, Nathan Clemens, of Mrytle Beach, S.C., Matthew Clemens, of Ames, and Daimon Russell and his wife, Karla, of Bloomington, Ill.; one daughter, Alexa Russell, of Panora; four grandchildren, Rachel, Courtney, Andrea and Dylan Russell, of Bloomington, Ill.; two brothers, Steve Clemens and his wife, Kathy (Krull), of Mason City and Rusty Clemens and his wife, Carol (Koch), of Ventura; one niece, Jenny Clemens; three nephews, Jeff, Jeremy and Jason Clemens; and several aunts and uncles and many cousins.

Don was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

OSAGE - Walter Rowcliffe, 78, of Osage, died Friday (Nov. 5, 1999) at the Osage Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, in Osage.

ELLIS THOMAS DRURY

SWALEDALE - Ellis Thomas Drury, infant son of Celeste Thomas and John Drury, of Swaledale, died Wednesday (Nov. 3, 1999) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 7, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, rural Swaledale, with Douglas Drury officiating.

There will be no visitation. Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S. E., Mason City, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the Ellis T. Drury Memorial Fund.

Ellis is survived by his parents, John and Celeste; his maternal grandmother, Phyllis Thomas, of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; his maternal great-grandfather, Omer Thomas, of Iowa City; his paternal grandfather, Arvin and his wife, Doris Drury, of Mason City; maternal aunt, Sharon Thomas, of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; maternal uncle, Phillip and his wife, Marianne Birkeland Thomas, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; paternal aunt, Karen and her husband, Ed Ries, of Mason City; and paternal uncles, Douglas and his wife, Sheryl Drury, of Cedar Rapids and Thomas and his wife, Christian Drury, of Litchfield, Conn.

ALGONA - John B. Wilson, 91, of Algona, died Thursday (Nov. 4, 1999) at the Good Samaritan Center, Algona.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, Algona. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in the Glendale Cemetery.

WHITTEMORE - Elfrieda M. Meier, 90, of Whittemore, died Thursday (Nov. 4, 1999) at the Good Samaritan Center, Algona.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Whittemore. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Whittemore.

Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Whittemore.

LOLA W. CURL

CHARLES CITY - Lola W. (Mrs. Don) Curl, 81, of 101 Eighth Ave., died Friday (Nov. 5, 1999) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles City.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Highway 18 and Clark Street, Charles City, with Monsignor Stanley J. Hayek officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City, with a 4 p.m. rosary recited by St. Catherine's Circle and a parish Vigil Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until noon on Monday at the Fullerton Hage Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church.

ROGER D. WESTPHAL

AUSTIN, Minn. - Roger D. Westphal, 56, of 808 13th Ave S.W., Austin, died Thursday evening (Nov. 4, 1999) at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the St. Augustine Catholic Church, in Austin, with Father Paul Nelson and Father Frank Enright officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion Post No. 91.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Mayer Funeral Home, Austin, Minn., with a 7 p.m. wake service. There will be further visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

The family prefers memorials to the Minnesota Veterans Home, 5100 Minnehaha Ave., Minneapolis, Minn. 55417.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Westphal, of Austin, Minn.; a daughter, Sarah (Matt) Streiff, of Austin; two sons, Scott Westphal, of Austin and Corey Westphal and his fiancee, Kate Eisen, of Owatonna, Minn.; two brothers, Wendell (Karen) Westphal, of Nora Springs and Merton (Wilma) Westphal, of Decorah; one sister, Phyllis (Mel) Ihnns, of Lincoln, Iowa.
