** Paul E. Prestholt

HANLONTOWN — Paul E. Prestholt, 68, of rural Hanlontown, died Tuesday (May 19, 1998) in Mason City.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Linda Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Elim Cemetery, rural Fertile. Military honors will be by the Clear Lake VFW.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, and one hour before services at the church.

The family suggests memorials to the Paul E. Prestholt memorial fund.

Paul was born April 17, 1930, in rural Clear Lake, the son of Alfred G. And Wilmie E. (Long) Prestholt. He graduated from Hanlontown High School in 1949. A year after graduation he served in the United States Navy on the U.S. Oriskany Air Craft Carrier in the Mediterranean as tradesman 3rd class. He later took advanced training in electronics at Jacksonville, Fla., and spent the remainder of his service time in Corpus Christi, Texas. Following the service he moved back to Hanlontown.

Paul married Marilyn Kisner on July 25, 1954, in Mason City.

Paul farmed in Hanlontown for one year, then went to work for Lehigh Portland Cement in Mason City, where he worked for 30 years, retiring in 1985. He also owned and operated Prestholt Repair in Hanlontown, until his retirement in 1991.

Paul enjoyed helping farmers with their field work, fishing and snowmobiling in the Chippewa Area, Hayward, Wis., where he was a summer resident at the Dagget’s Resort. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Paul was noted for making short stories long and long stories longer.

Paul is survived by his mother, Wilmie Prestholt, Clear Lake; two daughters, Debra Meyerhofer and her special friend, Marv Adams, Mason City, and Beth Lawson, Hanlontown; three grandchildren, Bonnie Meyerhofer and her fiance, Jesse Ward, Mason City, Bill Pate and his wife, Kari, Mason City, and Kathie Lawson and her fiance, Thomas Gayther, Mason City; two great-grandchildren, Aric and Dylin Pate; one brother, Donald A. Prestholt and his wife, Sue, Hanlontown; one aunt, Rachel Hawkins, Albert Lea, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

** Mary S. Witte

ROCKWELL — Mary S. Witte, 97, of Rockwell, died Tuesday morning (May 19, 1998) at the Rockwell Community Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 22, 1998, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Rockwell, with the Rev. Ronald Bolinger officiating. Interment will be at the Rockwell Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 2:30 p.m. today at the Fullerton Funeral Home, Rockwell. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the St. Peter Lutheran Church or the Rockwell Community Care Center.

Mary was born on Jan. 30, 1901, at Earlville, Ill., the daughter of Ralph H. and Mary (Schmidt) Walker. She moved with her family to Swea City in 1905 where she graduated from the public schools. She then attended Mankato Business College, taking bookkeeping.

Mary was united in marriage to Ernest Witte on Nov. 23, 1929, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They farmed in the Rockwell area from 1931 until 1966.

She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, a member of Kennsington Club, Ladies Cemetery Society, Grandmother's Club, and Senior Citizens. She enjoyed playing "500" and pinochle card games, tending her flower garden, traveling on bus tours, doing a variety of needle work and spending the summer with her grandchildren when they came to stay.

Mary will be sadly missed by her two sons, Ralph and his wife, Helen Witte, Brown Deer, Wis. and Lloyd and his wife Marion Witte, Green Bay, Wis.; one son-in-law, James Hollis, San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren, Michelle and her husband, David Ehlers, Savage, Minn.; Steven and his wife, Mary Witte, Mission, Texas; Douglas and his wife, Claudia Witte, Verona, Wis., and Cyndi and her husband, Mike Seamon, Plymouth, Minn.; and nine great-grandchildren.

** Jensine Amelia Kloppen

THOMPSON — Jensine Amelia Kloppen, 97, died Tuesday (May 19, 1998) at the Lake Mills Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Richard Newgard officiating. Burial will be in West Prairie Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.

Jensine Amelia Kloppen was born Nov. 6, 1900, near Thompson.

Survivors include one sister, Ingeborg Legried of Albert Lea, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and three brothers.

** Mildred G. Johnson

MASON CITY — Mildred G. Johnson, 75, of 1115 Fourth St. S.E., died Wednesday (May 20, 1998) at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Fullerton Funeral Home, 120 Third St. S., Rockwell, with the Rev. Stephen Meyer of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rockwell, officiating. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in Rockwell.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Mildred Johnson Memorial Fund.

Mildred was born Aug. 18, 1922, the daughter of Francis and Esther (Nelson) Patterson in Clear Lake. She attended and graduated from the Klemme school system.

On June 4, 1942, Mildred was united in marriage to Harland Johnson at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Swaledale.

Mildred drove school bus for 18 years for the Rockwell Swaledale School system. She owned the Rocket Cafe in Rockwell. She managed the Bell Motel and was currently managing the DeVille IV Apartments.

She loved to visit and have coffee with her friends.

Mildred was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, The Ladies of the Moose, the Eagles Lodge #3416, and the V.F.W. Legion Auxiliary.

Those thankful for having shared her life include her daughter, Jerriann and her husband, Bruce Ries, of Rockwell; one son, Edward Johnson, of Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren, Brent and Blake Blanchard; one great-grandchild, Chadd Blanchard; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Marvin Freerksen, of Mason City.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harland in 1982; and one brother, Patrick Patterson.

** Gertie Boehm

BUFFALO CENTER — Gertie Boehm, 101, died Monday (May 18, 1998) at Timely Mission Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Reformed Church with the Rev. Bill Peake officiating. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at Winter Funeral Home, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Gertie Boehm was born June 15, 1896, in Ramsey Township near Bancroft.

Survivors include 10 children, Fred of Pound, Wis., Otto, Pauline Eisenhower, Carl, George, Irene Winter, and Rosie Nerdig, all of Buffalo Center, John of Benton, Ill., Robert of Hudsonville, Mich., and Dennis of Greenville, S.C.; 37 grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Stena Jutting of Humboldt; and one brother, Robert Janssen of Buffalo Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four grandchildren, one great-grandson, five brothers, three sisters and an infant baby.

** Thelma J. Logan

CHARLES CITY — Thelma J. Logan, 64, died Tuesday (May 19, 1998) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Stanley J. Hayek officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today at the Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, where there will be a scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Friday.

Thelma Jean Christensen Logan was born May 25, 1933, in Floyd County.

Survivors include a daughter, Becky Severin of Charles City; two sisters, Bernice Tapley of Elma, and Dora Schrage of Marble Rock; a brother, Lyle Christensen of Nashua; two granddaughters; and two step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons and two brothers.

** Charles Galt Mackin

OSAGE — Charles Galt Mackin, 80, of Osage, died Tuesday (May 19, 1998) at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Philip Recker officiating. Inurnment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by the Osage American Legion Post #278.

There will be no visitation. The body was cremated. Champion Funeral Home, Osage, is in charge of arrangements.

Charles Galt Mackin was born Sept. 2, 1917, near Grafton.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille, of Osage; two daughters, Marie Ockman, of Orlando, Fla., and Joann Mackin, of Carroll; three sons, Jere Mackin, of Plymouth, Minn., Patrick Mackin, of San Antonio, Texas, and Richard Mackin, of Manly; one stepdaughter, Linda Trobaugh, of Chicago Heights, Ill.; and one stepson, James Horgen, of St. Ansgar; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife.

** Bill Dummett

BRITT — Bill Dummett, 66, of Britt, died Wednesday (May 20, 1998) at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital, Britt.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Ewing Funeral Chapel, Britt.

** Edmond James Veit

AMANA — Edmond James Veit, 61, of Amana, died Monday (May 18, 1998) at his home of cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Marengo, by the Rev. Douglas Morton. Burial will be in the Rector Cemetery, rural Chelsea.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the Hrabak Funeral Home, 1704 Seventh Ave., Belle Plaine.

Edmond James Veit was born Aug. 9, 1936, in Brooklyn to Cloyd and Ruth Klenk Veit.

He attended Chelsea Public Schools and received his high school degree.

Ed served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1962.

He married Sharon Sindt on June 6, 1964, in Cedar Rapids.

They lived in Marshalltown from 1967-1985, in Mason City from 1985-1996, then they moved to 620 29th Ave., Amana.

Edward worked for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad for more than 40 years, taking an early retirement in 1996. He was a lineman electrician.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, in Marengo.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; a son, Joseph, of Omaha; one daughter, Susan Huff, of Solon; two brothers, Richard, of Chelsea, and William, of Tracy, Minn.; and his mother, Ruth Veit, of Chelsea.

** Florence M. Hurd

AMPTON — Florence M. Hurd, 99, of Hampton, died Tuesday (May 19, 1998) at the Hampton Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the United Methodist Church, Hampton. Burial will take place in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City.

There is no visitation. Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Florence M. Hurd was born July 13, 1898, in McLean County, Ill.

She is survived by one daughter, Jean Hurd McMurray, of Webster City; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and one daughter.

Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church of Hampton, in her memory.

CLARION — Jerry Pohlman, 65, of Clarion, died Wednesday (May 20, 1998) at the Clarion Community Memorial Hospital.

** Betty Jo Ann Hill

LAKE MILLS — Betty Jo Ann Hill, 63, of Lake Mills, died Tuesday (May 19, 1998) at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Asbury Methodist Church, Lake Mills, with the Rev. Jeanne Martin officiating. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Lake Mills.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, Lake Mills, and one hour prior to services at the church.

Betty Jo Ann Hill, daughter of Orville (Shorty) and Florence (Farghum) Whitmire, was born Feb. 7, 1935, in Cresco, Iowa.

Betty graduated from Cresco High School in 1952.

She attended Iowa Teachers College (UNI) in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and earned her degree in elementary education. She taught kindergarten in Hansel, Iowa, and then later in Lake Mills.

On June 22, 1958, she married Ronald Hill in Lake Mills. They had three children, Kevin Mark, Scott Arthur and Julie Beth.

They lived on a farm 2½ miles southwest of Lake Mills until 1992, when they moved into Lake Mills.

Betty served as head librarian of the Lake Mills Municipal Library for the past 23 years. She was also the organist and a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, the Lake Mills Community Chorus, the League of Women Voters, the Odd Fellows Rebekah Lodge and the Fine Arts Guild.

Betty enjoyed playing the piano and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing and reading.

Betty is survived by her son, Kevin Mark Hill, of Lake Mills; one daughter, Julie Beth and her husband, Bill Speltz, of Carbondale, Ill.; two grandchildren, Mitchell Scott and Brianna Beth Speltz; and many friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald; and her son, Scott Arthur.

** William Dummett

BRITT — William Clair Dummett, 66, of Britt, died Wednesday (May 20, 1998) at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Marvin Bries, officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Ewing Funeral Chapel, Britt, with a 7:30 p.m. parish wake service. There will be further visitation one hour prior to church services on Friday.

William Clair Dummett was born July 23, 1931, in Sanborn.

Survivors include his wife, Angela Dummett, of Britt; three sons, Terry Dummett, Algona, Steven Dummett, of Forest City, and James Dummett, of Mason City; five grandchildren; and one stepbrother, Paul Prosser, of Chapin, S.C.

He was preceded in death by one son in infancy, one half brother, and one stepbrother.

** Henry Riekena

FOREST CITY — Henry Riekena, 89, of Forest City, died Thursday (May 21, 1998) at the Good Samaritan Center, Forest City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Forest City, with the Rev. Gary Marzolf officiating. Burial will be in the Bingham Township Cemetery, Woden.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, Forest City.

Henry Riekena was born in Wellsburg, Iowa on May 13, 1909, the son of Gretus and Alice (Gerdes) Riekena. He received his education in rural school near his home.

He was married to Amanda Helm on Aug.18, 1927 in Algona, Iowa.

Henry worked on a farm near Britt, Iowa for a time before moving to Woden, Iowa where he worked for the Gerdes Construction Company. The couple moved to Forest City in 1936. Henry has worked for Gjellefald Construction and for Bartleson Construction. Later on he worked for the City of Forest City until his retirement.

Henry was a member of the United Methodist Church in Forest City. He enjoyed fishing. He also loved to take Amanda out dancing. He was an avid card player.

Henry entered the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City in May of 1996.

He is survived by five daughters and their spouses, Vivian and Don Pletcher, of Britt, Iowa; Arlene and George Schmidt, of Garner, Iowa; Lorraine and Shelly Bohn, of Mason City; Janice and Jim Marshall, of Austin, Minn.; and Marilyn and Tom Haley, of Ham Lake, Minn.; two sons, Kenneth Riekena, of Mason City; and Vernon Riekena and his wife, Carol, of Racine, Wis.; three brothers, Ed and Dutch Riekena, both of Forest City, and George Riekena, of Oregon; a sister, Evelyn Foster, of Rockford, Ill.; 29 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Amanda; a daughter, Donna Jean; a son, LeRoy Riekena; a daughter-in-law, Mickey Riekena; and two brothers, Ben and Warren Riekena.

** Jerrold P. Pohlman

CLARION — Jerrold P. "Jerry" Pohlman, 65, died Wednesday (May 20, 1998) at the Clarion Community Memorial Hospital.

The body was cremated and family services will be held at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Willim Funeral Home, Clarion, is in charge of arrangements.

Jerry was born June 6, 1932, in Clarion.

Survivors include his mother, Kittie Strong, of Clarion; one brother, James Pohlman, Burlington; two sisters, Vicki Freeman, Clarion, and Kittie Mann, of San Antonio, Texas; two adopted brothers and one adopted sister, James Strong, Fort Dodge, and Terry and Cindy Strong, both of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his father and his stepfather.

** Robert L. Russel

Robert L. Russel, age 70 of West Sacramento CA passed away peacefully Monday evening May 18, 1998 at his home. He was born Febuary 10, 1928 in Mason City, Iowa and has made California his home since the 1950's.

Bob, employed by Truck/Trailer Sales of Sacramento, CA, has worked in the "field of his dreams" for the past 5 decades. He was well respected and honored by the many customers and friends he served through the years.

He is dearly missed by daughter Roberta Sjostrom of Fort Myers, FL., and by son Stephen Russel (Colette) of Rapid City, So. Dakota. 3 grandchildren Loren, Shawn Sydney, brothers Jack Russel of Mason City, Iowa and Bill Russel of Auburn, WA, sister Betty Carter of Washington, D.C., many nieces, nephews and friends. Loved by family and friends. His memory will be forever cherished.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 24, 1998 at 4:00pm at Camellia Memorial Lawn 10221 Jackson Rd Sacramento CA. in Lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made in his name to the charity of your choice.

ORCHARD — Nedra Lack Benson, 62, of Yorba Linda, Calif., formerly of Orchard, died Friday (May 22, 1998) at her home in Yorba Linda, of natural causes.

MASON CITY — Ricky "Rick" K. Schutjer, 45, 13614 Raven Ave., died Friday (May 22, 1998) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, following a short illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Tuesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., where other arrangements are incomplete.

BRITT — Marian Everett, 68, of Newton, died Friday (May 22, 1998) at her home in Newton.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert Dodge officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ewing Funeral Chapel, Britt, and one hour prior to services at the church.

** Earl Mecklenburg

NEW ULM — Earl Mecklenburg, 82, of 102 N. Franklin St., New Ulm, Minn. died Thursday afternoon (May 21, 1998) at the New Ulm Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the United Church of Christ in New Ulm, with burial to follow in the New Ulm Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Firle Funeral Home, New Ulm, Minn. and one hour prior to services at the church.

He was born Jan. 25, 1916 in Milford Township, Brown County, to Arthur and Ella (Meyer) Mecklenburg. He spent his youth on the family farm and attended rural school, as well as farming with his family.

He married Joyce Nundahl on Jan. 25, 1946 at the Nora Unitarian-Universalist Church in Hanska.

For several years, he managed the Essig Lumber Yard. He also owned and operated his own trucking business in the area for 36 years.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of New Ulm; son and daughter-in-law, David and Ruth Mecklenburg, of New Ulm, Minn.; daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne and Lee Weber, of Mason City, Iowa; grandchildren, Matthew, Pamela and Samantha Mecklenburg; brothers, Willard Mecklenburg and Wallace and his wife, Clarie Mecklenburg, all of New Ulm, Minn.; one sister, Elleen and her husband, Harill Schroeder, of Sleepy Eye, Minn.; a sister-in-law, Sadie Nundahl, of Perham; nieces and nephews and cousins; and many, many friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant son; a brother, Chester; and an infant sister, Shirley.

** Gregg Saatmann

FOREST CITY — Gregg Saatmann, 31, of Forest City, died Friday (May 22, 1998) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center, Mason City, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Winnebago County.

MASON CITY — Jane A. Bahnsen, 46, of 929 N. Madison Ave., died Saturday (May 23, 1998) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams Ave., with the Rev. Dennis Cahill officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Monday at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with a Knights of Columbus rosary at 6:30 p.m., followed by a scriptural wake service at 7 p.m.

Jane A. Bahnsen was born Jan. 6, 1952, at Mason City, the daughter of Vernon "Boots" and Imogene (Cahalan) Larson. She graduated from Newman High School, and later graduated from Hamilton Business College.

In 1972, she married Thomas Bahnsen at Mason City.

She was employed by Aco Durafarm and was a realtor for the Busch Agency.

Jane loved to be outdoors and loved boating. She also enjoyed shopping and decorating.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Mason City, the Clear Lake Yacht Club and the Mason City and Clear Lake chambers of commerce.

Survivors include her children, Katie (Bahnsen) Grant, Michael Bahnsen, Bridget Bahnsen and Shannon Bahnsen, all of Mason City; two grandchildren, Samantha and Jayme Grant; her parents, Vernon "Boots" and Imogene Larson, Mason City; six siblings, Jeanne Lessor, Mason City, Tom Larson and his wife, Laura, Westminster, Colo., Tim Larson, Dublin, Calif., Mary Beth Nelson and her husband, Don, Mason City, Dr. Sue Sumners and her husband, Tom, Lakewood, Colo., and Janice Barnes and her husband, Jeff, Lakewood, Colo.; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew and cousins; and a special friend, John Busch, Clear Lake.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.

** Ricky K. Schutjer

MASON CITY — Ricky "Rick" K. Schutjer, 45, of 13614 Raven Ave., died suddenly Friday (May 22, 1998) following an illness at North Iowa Mercy Health Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Major-Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Charles Q. Wallace officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with a flag folding ceremony performed by the Mason City Memorial Association.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the Ricky "Rick" K. Schutjer Memorial Fund.

Ricky "Rick" K. Schutjer was born Jan. 19, 1953, the son of Kenneth E. and Arlene (Olson) Schutjer, in Mason City. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1971.

Rick enlisted in the U.S. Army on May 10, 1973, at Ft. Dix, N.J., and was discharged April 8, 1976, in St. Louis, Mo., serving one year in Germany. Upon returning to Mason City, he worked for Allied Mills for 10 years and at various other jobs in the area. Rick enjoyed the outdoors and fishing.

Survivors include his mother, Arlene Schutjer of Mason City; two brothers, Randy Schutjer and his wife, Sandy, of Atlanta, Ga., and Rodney Schutjer of Mason City; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth, in November, 1988, and his grandparents.

FOREST CITY — Gregg Saatmann, 31, died Friday (May 22, 1998) in an auto accident northwest of Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church, Forest City, with the Rev. Craig Steimel officiating. Burial will be in the Ohiowa Cemetery, Geneva, Neb.

There will be no visitation. Petersen Lund Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his parents, Patricia Saatmann of Beaver Crossing, Neb., and Gene Saatmann of Safford, Ariz.; his wife, Kristie Saatmann of Forest City; one daughter, Rebecca Saatmann of Forest City; one son, Jacob Saatmann of Forest City; his grandmother, Katherine Saatmann of Ohiowa, Neb.; one sister, Robin Lynn Candelearie of Denver, Colo.; and one brother, Robert E. Saatmann of Beaver Crossing, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and his paternal grandfather.

Blake was born Aug. 16, 1911, at Bowie, Texas, the son of Charles and Altie (Autrey) Berry. He attended school in Purcell, Okla. He served in the U.S. Army from September, 1943, until December, 1945. Blake came to Mason City in 1950 and worked as a steam fitter for Local #405, where he also was their former business agent. He was married to Jean E. Fuller on Aug. 20, 1954, in Columbia, Mo. He lived in the Mason City area most of his married life. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W.

Survivors include his wife, Jean E. Berry, Mason City; daughter, Suzann Whitehurst and husband, Jay, Mason City; sons, H. Blake Berry Jr. and wife, Abbi, Sunnyvale, Calif., and David Berry, Bonsall, Calif.; step-sons, Dennis E. Fuller and wife, Connie, Mason City, and Gary L. Fuller and wife, Carol, Mason City; grandchildren, Cody and Jessie Whitehurst, Mason City, Graham Fuller, West Des Moines, Dawn Loux and husband, Dino, Clear Lake, and Holly Kahler and husband, Chad, Rock Falls; and great-grandchildren, Jade and Myah Loux.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.

** Lucille Shipman

RUDD — Lucille Shipman, 78, of 703 Circle Dr., died Saturday (May 23, 1998) at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Rudd United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard C. Pippert officiating. Interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today, and will continue from 9 a.m. until noon at the Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Lucille Shipman Memorial Fund.

Lucille was born June 17, 1919, the daughter of Jacob and Anna (Brehmer) Schubert in Corwith. She later attended and graduated from Corwith High School. On July 1, 1940, Lucille was united in marriage to Gene A. Shipman.

Lucille was a very active member of the Rudd United Methodist Church where she was also involved in the Dorcas Circle. Lucille loved to do crafts and other things with her hands like needlepoint, gardening and planting her special flowers. She was also continuously baking cookies and cleaning her house.

Lucille enjoyed collecting her Precious Moments, and watching and feeding the birds. She enjoyed passing the time with a good book or playing cards with her friends. But the diamonds of her eyes were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those thankful for having shared her life include two daughters, Jodell and her husband, Larry Schlotterbeck of Centerville, Ohio, and Dianne and her husband, Maury Dieterich of Shelby Township, Mich.; one daughter-in-law, Ginger Shipman of Nora Springs; two sisters, Bernice and her husband, Kenneth Gregson, of Mason City, and Marcella and her husband, Warren Wignall, of Marshalltown; seven grandchildren, Allison Kruse, Stacey and Corey Shipman, Troy Schlotterbeck, Traci Radcliffe, Nathan and Nikolas Dieterich; and five great-grandchildren, Leo, Roni and Ralee Kruse, and Kayla and Maggie Shipman; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Shipman was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, in 1989; and one son, Ron Shipman.

EUREKA SPRINGS, Ark. — Mollie Sorensen, 78, of Eureka Springs, Ark., formerly of Mason City, died Saturday (May 23, 1998) at Washington Regional Medical Center, Fayetteville, Ark.

** Marian A. Everett

BRITT — Marian A. Everett, 68, of Newton, formerly of Britt, died Friday (May 22, 1998) at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, Britt, with the Rev. Robert D. Dodge officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Britt.

There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, Newton.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Ewing Funeral Chapel, and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

Marian A. Everett, the daughter of Virgil and Sarah (Huling) Everett, was born March 15, 1930, in Britt. She attended Britt High School, Britt Junior College and graduated from Westmar College in LeMars. She taught elementary education for 43 years in Hancock County, LeMars, and retired in 1990 from her teaching position at Aurora Heights Elementary School in Newton. She was very active as a volunteer worker in various community organizations, a member of the United Methodist Women, the Skiff Hospital Auxiliary, the Newton Women's Club, the Newton Retired Teacher's Association, and the Newton United Methodist Church. She loved doing crafts and country music.

Survivors include her mother, Sarah Everett of Britt; two sisters, Alice and her husband, Bruce Schock, of Aurora, Colo., and Virginia and her husband, Andrew Carlson, of South Bend, Wash.; one brother, Verle Everett of Britt; one sister-in-law, Beverly Everett of Wesley; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Virgil in 1988, and one brother, Thomas Everett in 1991.
