Victor A. Vansteenburg

MANLY  



Victor A. Vansteenburg, 75, of 324 W. Elmore, died Thursday

(Jan. 23, 1997) at his home.



Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Bethel United

Methodist Church, with the Rev. Herbert G. Shafer and the Rev.

Robert Cumings officiating. Burial will be in the Manly Cemetery,

with full military honors conducted by the American Legion Post

#110 of Manly and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #733 of Mason

City.



Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bride Colonial

Chapel, 110 E. Spring St., and one hour prior to services at

the church on Monday.



Victor Alvin Vansteenburg was born Feb. 14, 1921, at Grandon,

Mo., the third son of Richard and Elsie (Eastburn) Vansteenburg.



He attended rural schools in Aitkin County, Minn., and graduated

from high school in McGregor, Minn.



Victor moved to Iowa in 1941 and worked on farms in the Manly

area.



He served in the Pacific Theater in World War II from September

of 1942 to December of 1945.



He was united in marriage to Violet Gallion on Jan. 4, 1943,

at Albert Lea, Minn.



After Victor's discharge from the Army, he and Violet farmed

in Worth County and he later worked at carpentry and in rock

quarries in the area. After retiring from quarry work, he worked

at odd jobs and part-time at the co-op elevator.



Victor enjoyed working in his shop and traveling. His biggest

joy was his family.



Victor was a life member of the American Legion Edward Tosel

Post #110, Manly, and also of the Mason City Veterans Memorial

Association.



He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Mason City.



Victor is survived by his wife, Violet Vansteenburg, Manly;

one daughter, Shirley  Klemp and her husband, John, Manly; two

sons, Ronald Vansteenburg and his wife, Patricia, Plattsmouth,

Neb., and James Vansteenburg and his wife, Mary, Dubuque; seven

grandchildren, Travis Klemp, Stacey (Klemp) Hubbard, Daniel and

Aaron Vansteenburg, Amber, Alyssa and Solomon Vansteenburg; eight

great-grandsons, Jon-Luc and Wesley Vansteenburg, Zachary, Christian

and Noah Klemp and Ethan, Colin and Avery Hubbard; one sister,

June Relander, Merritt Island, Fla.; two brothers, James Vansteenburg

and his wife, Luella, Minneapolis, Minn.; and Barton Vansteenburg

and his wife, Hazel, Bradenton, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews

and friends.



He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; and two

brothers.

Amanda Sue `Little Buddy' Hjelle

MASON CITY  



Amanda Sue ``Little Buddy'' Hjelle, 16, of 14 24th St. S.W.,

died Wednesday (Jan. 22, 1997) on Highway 18 East from injuries

received in an automobile accident.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity

Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Arne

C. Bergland officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Major

Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour

prior to services at the church.



Memorials may be given to the Amanda Sue Hjelle Memorial Fund.



Amanda Sue Hjelle was born Sept. 12, 1980, in Mason City, the

daughter of Robin and Joy (Kurash) Hjelle.



Amanda was a junior at Mason City High School.



She enjoyed art, writing, poetry and spending quality time with

her nieces, family and friends.



Survivors include her parents, Robin and Joy Hjelle of Mason

City; two sisters, Krisia Hjelle of Mason City, and a special

friend, Troy Havig; and Brandy Ruehlow and her husband, Bobby,

of Mason City; two special nieces, Brittany Kay and Valerie Rose

of Mason City; grandparents, Helmer and Nita Hjelle of Mason

City; Francis Kurash, Mason City, and MaryAnn Kurash of Mason

City; and great-grandmother, Marcella Dwire of Mason City. Survivors

also include several aunts, uncles, cousins and a very special

friend, James True of Nora Springs.



She was preceded in death by great-grandfathers, Henry True,

Hans Hjelle and George Kloster; great-grandmothers, Lela True

and Nettie Hjelle and one uncle, Hans Hjelle II.

David Kevin Nutting, 42, of 183 Kingsway Drive, North Mankato,

died Wednesday (Jan. 23, 1997) at his home.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Major Erickson

Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, Iowa, with

the Rev. Paul Boostrom officiating. Burial will be held in Elmwood-St.

Joseph Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa.



Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Major Erickson

Funeral Home, and until time of services on Monday.



David was born July 14, 1954, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of

Robert L. and Patricia L. (O'Neil) Nutting.



He graduated from Mason City High School in 1972 and also from

North Iowa Area Community College.



He also attended the University of Iowa and Mankato State University

majoring in law enforcement.



He lived in North Mankato and worked for Ads and Inc. for many

years.



He enjoyed his cats, Hawkeye and Elizabeth.



He also enjoyed playing the clarinet and the piano.



He was a member of First Christian Church of Mason City, Iowa,

and attended the First Christian Church in Mankato.



He is survived by his parents, Robert L. Nutting and his wife,

Norma, Clear Lake, Iowa; one sister, Rhonda Fischbeck and her

husband, John, Mason City, Iowa; stepsister, Marilyn Tecklenburg

and her husband, Jeff, Muscatine, Iowa; stepbrother, James Boehnke

and his wife, Renee, Clear Lake, Iowa; one niece, Elizabeth Fischbeck

of Mason City, Iowa; uncles, Don W. O'Neil and his wife, Barbara,

Mason City, Iowa, and John C. ``Jack'' O'Neil and his wife, Linda,

Phoenix, Ariz.; and one great-aunt, Martha E. Nutting, Mason

City, Iowa.



He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his mother,

Patricia, in January of 1990.

SHELL ROCK 



Donald Turner, 83, of Shell Rock, died Thursday (Jan. 23, 1997)

at the Waverly Municipal Hospital.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Unity

Presbyterian Church, rural Clarksville, with the Rev. Reuben

J. Topp officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery,

Shell Rock.



Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Kaiser-Corson

Funeral Home, Shell Rock, and one hour before services at the

church on Monday.



Memorials may be directed to the Unity Presbyterian Church.



Donald Turner was born Jan. 30, 1914, at Swanton.



Survivors include his wife, Mac; one son, James Turner, Rockwell;

three grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.



Don was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Ethel Tesch, 86, of Carpenter, died Thursday (Jan. 23, 1997)

at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. John's

Lutheran Church, Rock Township, with Pastor Rose Marie Lewis

and Pastor Joe Matt officiating. Burial will be in Rock Township

Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Schroeder

and Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar.



Ethel Elizabeth Stehn was born Oct. 5, 1910, in Barton Township,

Worth County, daughter of Adolph and Mabel Smith Stehn.



She was baptized and confirmed at Deer Creek Lutheran Church,

Carpenter.



After graduating from Carpenter High School, Ethel continued

on to Cedar Falls where she received her teaching certification.



She taught at Rock #6 in Mitchell County until her marriage.



On Sept. 5, 1935, she was united in marriage with Alfred Tesch

at First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar.



They farmed northeast of Grafton. Following her husband's death,

Ethel remained on the farm until 1979, when she moved to Carpenter.



Ethel is survived by one son, Daryl Tesch and his wife, Iola,

of Mason City; two daughters, Marilyn Katcavage and her husband,

George, of South St. Paul, Minn., and Marlene Sower and her husband,

Bill, of Eagan, Minn.; five granddaughters, Dawn Person, Teresa

Roth, Chanda and Jamie Katcavage and Kalli Sower; six great-grandchildren;

one brother, Delmar Stehn of Carpenter; and one sister, Della

Matt and her husband, Joe, of Austin, Minn.



She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred; parents, Adolph

and Mabel Stehn; and two brothers, Arthur and Russell Stehn.

Opal V. Norris, 95, of 3520 Grand Ave., died Friday (Jan. 24,

1997) at the Wesley Acres Care Center.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at McLaren's

Funeral Chapel, 801 19th St,. West Des Moines. Burial will be

in the Resthaven Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral

chapel.



Memorials may be given to the Wesley Acres Good Samaritan Fund.



Opal V. Norris was born Oct. 10, 1901, in Pattonsburg, Mo.,

the daughter of Walter Tilden and Eva Jo (Davis) McClung.



She had lived in Marshalltown and Mason City, and had lived

in Des Moines since March of 1995.



She was a homemaker. She was a member of Hope United Methodist

Church, Marshalltown.



She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Richter of Des Moines.



She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Dean G. Hale, 76, of 1485 Marlin Drive, Naples,  a former Mason

City, Iowa, resident, died Wednesday (Jan. 22, 1997) at his home.



Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Elmwood-St.

Joseph Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa, with the Rev. John Hill of

First Presbyterian Church officiating.



There is no visitation. Major Erickson Funeral Home, Mason City,

Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.



Memorials may be given to Hospice of Naples, 1095 Whippoorwill

Lane, Naples, Fla. 34105.



Dean G. Hale was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on Nov. 1, 1920.



He graduated from Mason City High School and married his high

school sweetheart, Margaret Janet Currier on Sept. 19, 1941.



Mr. Hale was a World War II Air Force veteran.



He was co-owner and president of Hale-Phipps Motors Dodge-Chrysler

Dealership for 23 years in Mason City and Garner, Iowa.



He was also involved in many civic associations while living

in Iowa.



After retiring to Naples 1976, he became actively involved in

feeding and clothing the underprivileged in Immokalee.



He was currently on the board of the Royal Harbor Association.



Dean was a proud caring man who is survived by his loving wife

of 55 years, Margaret Hale of Naples; three children, Marcia

Entner of Naples; Jim Hale of Victoria, B.C., Canada, and Carolyn

Hewett of Scottsdale, Ariz.;  their spouses; four grandchildren;

and many friends.

Mary Lee Collins, 61, of 4428 310th St., died Tuesday (Jan.

21, 1997) at her home.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at First Covenant

Church, Highway 18 at Ohio St., Mason City, with the Rev. Richard

G. Murray officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.



Visitation will begin one hour prior to services at the church

on Monday.  Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E.,

Mason City, is in charge of arrangements.



Mary Lee Collins was born Aug. 24, 1935 in Crawford, W.V., the

daughter of Wert and Violet (McCray) Smith.  She married Louis

Collins on May 9, 1970 in Minneapolis, Minn.



Mary grew up in rural West Virginia and graduated from high

school in Weston, W.V.  She graduated from North Central Bible

College in Minneapolis, Minn. with a degree in Christian Education.



She worked at K-Mart for six years, and for the past few years,

she worked as a dietary aide for Good Samaritan Nursing Home,

Forest City.  Mary loved sports and was an avid Cubs fan.



She was an active member of First Covenant Church, serving on

the church council and singing in the choir.



Survivors include her husband, Louis Collins of Clear Lake;

two sons, Gregory Collins and his wife, Barbara, of Buffalo Center,

and David Collins, a student at Iowa State University, Ames;

one grandson, Caleb Collins of Buffalo Center; four sisters,

Jean Lowther of Wildcat, W.V., Virginia Ellis of Delaware, Madeline

Eckes of Weston, W.V., and Elsie Stearman of Delaware; two brothers,

Kemp Smith of Bucchannon, W.V., and Bill Smith of Alexandria,

Va.; and many nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Gayle

Smith.

Kossuth Regional Health Center, Algona.



A Mass of the Christan Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday

at St. John Catholic Church with the Rev. John Thomas officiating.

Interment will be in the St. John Catholic Cemetery.



Visitation will be held after 2:30 p.m. today at the Garry-Roberts-

Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, where there will be a Catholic Daughters

of the Americas rosary at 3 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30

p.m.



Lois Helen Stott Accurso was born Nov. 11, 1918, near Titonka.



Survivors include her husband, Tony, of Bancroft; her children,

Linda Powers of Chicago, Ill., Katherine Accurso of Rochester,

Minn., William Accurso of Arlington Heights, Ill., and Barbara

Nelson of Spencer; five grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd Stott

of Camarillo, Calif., and Lyle Stott of Charles City; and two

sisters, Bonnie Steege and Leone Straw, both of Clear Lake.



She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and one

brother.

will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, New Haven.

Funeral Home where there will be a rosary at 3 p.m., and a scripture

service at 7:30 p.m.



Opal E. Schoenborn was born Dec. 2, 1896 in Sibley.



Survivors include one daughter, Irma Eubanks of Chicago, Ill.;

one son, Donald Schoenborn of Osage; one sister, Dolores Gray

of Kenora, Ontario, Canada; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister,

four brothers, and one granddaughter.

Kathleen Eleanore Jacobson, 85, died Friday (Jan. 24, 1997)

at the Westview Care Center.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's

Catholic Church with the Rev. Marvin Bries officiating.  Burial

will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday with a C.D.

of A. Rosary at 3 p.m., and a parish wake service at 4 p.m.,

at the Ewing Funeral Home.  Visitation will continue one hour

prior to the services at the church on Tuesday.



Kathleen Eleanore Jacobson was born Sept. 12, 1911 in Rochelle,

Ill.



Survivors include one son, Roger Jacobson of Britt; two grandchildren;

and five great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; three

brothers; and a girl that they raised from childhood.

Leroy Green, 77, died Friday (Jan. 24, 1997) at his home.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United

Methodist Church with the Rev. JoAn Lent Skyrme officiating.

Burial will be in the Belmond Cemetery with full military rites

provided by the Belmond Honor Guard.



Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the Dugger

Ewing Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at the church.



Leroy Green was born March 1, 1919 in Belmond.



Survivors include his wife, Edna, of Belmond; one daughter,

Lynne Luden of St. Louis, Mo.; one son, Paul Green of Storm Lake;

three sisters, Deloris Robbins and Marcella Cunningham, both

of Goodell, and Betty Barkema of Belmond; and two grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two

sisters.

Leland Hubert Kelly, 69, of 704 Seventh Ave., died Friday (Jan.

24, 1997) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.



A celebration of life service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday

at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church.  The Rev. Fred Lewis

will officiate.



There will be no visitation.  The body will be cremated and

burial will take place at a later date.  Ward-Van Slyke Colonial

Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., is in charge of arrangements.



The family suggests memorials may be given to the Leland H.

Kelly Memorial Fund.



Leland was born May 14, 1927 in Burr Oak, the son of Hugh Joseph

and Verlie May (Pierce) Kelly.  He attended school at St. Joseph's

Catholic School in Mason City.



He served in the United States Army during World War II in France.

After the service, he returned to work in Spencer.  He moved

to Mason City and was employed at the Brand Creamery.  He later

worked for Thermogas in Mason City as a driver-salesman for 37

years until his retirement in 1987.



Leland was an avid sportsman who loved to play pool and golf.

He was a devoted Notre Dame fan.



He is survived by his wife, Lois, of Clear Lake; three children,

Ann Lovell of Osceola, Kevin O. Kelly and his wife, Jeni, of

Plymouth, Minn., and Erin Kelly-Davis and her husband, Tim, of

Ames; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Pedersen of Clear Lake; five

brothers, Parnell Joseph Kelly, Vere Eugene Kelly and his wife,

Rose, and Larry Paul Kelly and his wife, Janet, all of Mason

City, Robert Francis Kelly and his wife, Ardith, of Charles City,

and Hugh Allen Kelly of Marshalltown; a sister, Vivian Marie

Bell of Mason City; and two grandchildren, Coleman Lee Kelly

and Wade Michael Kelly.



He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Virginia

Kelly and Dorothy Sprinkle.

Irene Deloris Schoneman, the daughter of Adolph and Rose Louise

Christine (Dallman) Holck was born July 13, 1924, at Britt. 

She attended the rural schools of Britt Township and then graduated

from Britt High School in 1942.  She worked at the clerk of court's

office at the courthouse for several years.  On June 8, 1946,

she was married to Maurice ``Bill'' Merle Schoneman at First

Lutheran Church in Britt.  They made their home n Garner the

rest of their lives.  Irene worked as a dental assistant for

Dr. Hayes, a bookkeeper for Schoneman Bros. Standard Oil and

at the Garner City Clerk's office from 1974 until she retired

in 1989.  She also served as a clerk for elections.



She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, L.W.M.L., St.

Paul Lutheran Choir, WaTanYe's, Bel Homemaker's Club, and was

an advisor for Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.  She also belonged to

two bridge clubs and served as a caller for backup ambulance

and was a leader for the Girl Scouts for 10 years.  She enjoyed

her family, friends, bowling and playing cards.



She is survived by her son, Allen Schoneman and his wife, Mary,

and their son, Robert, all of Raleigh, N.C.; her daughter Juliann

Hudak and her husband, Stephen H. Hudak III, and their daughter,

Mackenzie, all of Minneapolis, Minn.; two sisters, Lucille Dewey

of Clear Lake, and Verna Alke and her husband, George, of Britt;

two brothers, Maynard Holck and his wife, Shirley, of Britt,

and Harold Holck of Britt; and many nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Schoneman, on

April 18, 1986; her parents; and a sister, Erma Bohling in 1941.

Bernice Ann Palmer, 65, passed away Saturday (Jan. 25, 1997)

quietly at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous

battle with cancer.



Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Saviors

Lutheran Church with the Rev. Wayne Halverson officiating.  Interment

will be in Lakewood Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bayview/Freeborn

Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at the church.



Bernice was born July 5, 1931, in Lake Mills, the daughter of

Tobias Brackey and Frances (Westendorf) Brackey.  Bernice attended

and graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1949.  On Dec. 11,

1956, she  married Roscoe Palmer in Albert Lea.



She had many interests, including being an active member of

Our Saviors Lutheran Church.  She was a member of the American

Diabetes Association, and she enjoyed reading, traveling, cooking

and spending time with her grandchildren.



Her family wishes to extend a special thank you to Crossroad

Community Hospice and the homemaker health aides for taking such

special care of our mother.  Your assistance will be remembered

always.



Survivors include her children, James and his wife, Kelly, from

Owatonna, Minn., Susan and her husband, Frank Stearns, from Mason

City, and Mary and her husband, Jay Martin, from Rochester, Minn.;

two very special granddaughters, Miranda and Alicia Stearns;

her brothers, LeRoy Brackey of Lake Mills, Steven Brackey of

Forest City and Roger Brackey of Brightwood, Ore.; sisters, Elaine

Sevely of Albert Lea, Fern Jones of Gresham, Ore., and Janice

She was cremated at Memorial Park Crematory.  There will be

Madonna was born Nov. 11, 1933, the daughter of Cecil and Alice

(Felwalk) Stethem in Fonda.  On June 7, 1955, Madonna was united

in marriage to Richard Remillard in Worthington, Minn.



Donna liked to help others in as many ways as she could.  She

especially liked to cook large meals to feed to them.  She also

played cards and was especially good at 31.  In the last year

she spent as much time as she could with her great-grandbabies.



Donna is survived by her husband, Richard, of Mason City; two

daughters, Debra Morrison of Mason City and Mrs. Darwin (Vickie)

Johnson of Swaledale; three sisters, Mrs. George (Pat) McLain

of Mission, Texas, Mrs. John (Karen) Solis of Hopkins, Minn.,

and Linda and her special friend, Matt, of Minneapolis, Minn.;

three brothers, Mick and his wife, Carol Stethem of Minneapolis,

Richard and his wife, Pat Stethem, of Port Tobacco, Md., and

Jimmy and his wife, Shirley Stethem, of Marathon; six grandchildren,

Travis, Troy and Todd Hambly and Mandi, Joy and Tad Morrison;

two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her special

pet dog, ``Scottie.''

James F. Wallace was born Nov. 30, 1932, in Mason City, the

son of Albert and Mary (Kafer) Wallace.  He attended schools

in Mason City.  He  married Marlene O'Banion on July 25, 1966,

in Albert Lea, Minn.



Jim was a long-time painter in the Mason City area, having

worked on several large projects in and around the Mason City

area.  He retired Sept. 4, 1992, due to his health.  He was considered

a craftsman and his friends and family were fortunate to reap

the rewards of his talents.



Jim was known for his Intarsia, a style of woodworking, which

he took great pride and joy in.  He enjoyed his home and yardwork

and was affiliated with St. James Lutheran Church.



Survivors include his wife, Marlene E. Wallace, of Mason City;

children, Debbie Kittleson and her husband, Brad, of Mason City,

Shelly Benechuck and her husband, Sam, of Northwood, and Gary

Wallace of Austin, Minn.; stepdaughter, Charlotte Galkin and

her husband, Charles, of Mason City; grandchildren, Rosalie,

Cody, Katie, Sam, Nichole, Dezi and Travis; three stepgrandchildren;

Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with the Rev. Nils C. (Chris)

conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association.

Donald M. Magnuson was born July 20, 1930, in Hollandale, Minn.,

the son of Albin D. and Martha B. (Halvorson) Magnuson.  He married

Doris Dixon on June 11, 1955, in Manly.



Donald attended schools in Hayfield and Forest City, and graduated

from Hanlontown High School in 1948.  He enlisted in the Army

and served in Korea from 1951 to 1953,  serving with the 25th

infantry.  While in Korea, he got the Purple Heart and the Combat

Infantry Badge.  He then worked several years with Armour and

then with Labors local 552 (Labor Construction) in the Mason City area.



He enjoyed gardening and playing pool.  He loved spending time

with his grandchildren and enjoyed visiting with friends.  He

was a member of the V.F.W., the D.A.V., the Senior Citizens Center

and Trinity Lutheran Church.



Survivors include his wife, Doris Magnuson of Mason City; two

daughters, Darla Olson and her husband, David, of Albert Lea,

Minn., and Rhonda Magnuson of Framingham, Mass.; two sons, Allen

Magnuson and his wife, Nora, of Lawton, Okla., and Ronald Magnuson

of Dows; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two

sisters, Erma Holt of Des Moines and Lorraine Hart and her husband,

E.J., of Mason City; one brother, Arden Magnuson of Manly; one

aunt, Julia Peterson; a special family friend, Tami Billings

of Nora Springs; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bernice Lund was born in Clarion on Aug. 27, 1914, the daughter

of Nels and Bertha (Midland) Koltvet.  She received her education

in Clarion and graduated from Clarion High School in 1933. She

attended Waldorf College through 1935.



Bernice taught school in Rake for several years, and on Aug.

6, 1944, she was married to Rolf Lund at the Holmes Lutheran

Church in Holmes.  The couple made their home in Forest City

where Bernice taught fourth grade at the Forest City Elementary

School.  She retired from teaching in 1978.



Bernice was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City

where she taught Sunday school and was active in circle.  She

enjoyed keeping family scrapbooks and was an excellent cook.

Bernice's life revolved around her family and she loved spending

time with her grandchildren.  She died at the Good Samaritan

Center in Forest City on Jan. 25, 1997, at the age of 82 years.



Bernice is survived by her husband, Rolf Lund, of Forest City;

a daughter and her husband, Marsha and Del Ray Johnson of Fergus

Falls, Minn.; and two sons and their spouses, Mark and Sonya

Lund of Decorah and Stephen and Mary Beth Lund of Norfolk, Neb.

She also is survived by a brother, Stanley Koltvet of Maryville,

Tenn.; five sisters, Leona Stavenheim, Anna Koltvet, Blanche

Thompson and Maxine Koltvet, all of Clarion, and Naomi Austin

of Rochester, Minn.; and eight grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Eveline

Anderson; and two brothers, Theodore and Bernard Koltvet.

Lucille was born on May 21, 1921, at Aredale, a twin daughter

of Edward and Bertha (Becker) Jackson.  She attended school at

the Aredale public schools.



She was united in marriage to Frederick ``Fred'' DeBoer on

Oct. 29, 1939, in nearby Dumont.  They made their life together

there for nine years, living north of Dumont, and then moved

north of Allison for seven years. They then moved to Mason City

where they have resided since 1948.



She worked for the Lester Cafe and then was employed by Lifetime

Motor Homes, completing the assembly work on motor homes.  She

was an active member of the Mason City Baptist Church and was

church historian.  During the weekends, she and Fred enjoyed

camping at Marble Rock and fishing.  She was also active in canning

and pickling her garden vegetables and taking care of her flowers.



Lucille will be sadly missed by her husband of 57 years, Fred,

and her two nephews, Dwaine and Ronald.



She was preceded in death by her parents and her twin sister,

Marcille Clemons.

She was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing cards, fishing and

being with her friends and family.



She will be missed by her family and friends.

Mary Lou Ackerman, 69, of 103 Country Circle, died Saturday

(Jan. 25, 1997) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.



Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hogan-

Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with the Rev. Kathy

Graves of North Iowa Hospice officiating. Inurnment will follow

at Memorial Park Cemetery.



The body was cremated. There will be no visitation.



Mary Lou Ackerman was born Apil 5, 1927, in Paragould, Ariz.,

daughter of Harold F. and Lorene A. (Rodgers) Emmons.



She married Frederick ``Fritz'' Ackerman on March 25, 1945,

in Bremerton, Wash.



Mary grew up in Paragould, Ariz., and was baptized Southern

Baptist. She and her family moved to Mason City in 1958 from

Sioux City.



Mary was a very active volunteer throughout her life. She assisted

many years with Handicap Village, Clear Lake; Special Olympics,

Forest City; Handicap Bowling Tournaments in Ames, and also with

Americana Nursing Home.



She was also active in the Veteran of Foreign Wars Auxiliary

and the Military Order of Cooties Aauxiliary.



Mary was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans

Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary in Wall Lake, and also

the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post #733 for the past

37 years.



She served a Grand Hospital Chairman of the Military Order of

the Cooties for 26 years and had more than 22,000 volunteer hours

with the M.O.C.



She was VAVS representative for the Veterans Home in Marshalltown.



Survivors include her husband, Fritz Ackerman, Mason City; one

son, Rick Ackerman and his fiancee, Lisa McGrane, Mason City;

two grandchildren, Adam and Abby Kay Ackerman of Mason City;

her mother, Lorene A. Emmons, and her sister, Harold Dean Emmons,

both of Little Rock Ark.



She was preceded in death by her father.

Robert Marker, 79, formerly of 415 Fifth St. N.W.,  died Sunday

(Jan. 26, 1997) at the Veterans Medical Center, Iowa City.

Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with the Rev. Frederick

J. Wood  officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and until

time of services on Thursday at the funeral chapel.

Robert Marker was born Oct. 15, 1917, at Mason City, a son of

John and Anna (Geist) Marker.



He married Mollie Romig on July 23, 1939, at Mason City.



Mr. Marker attended Algona schools. He served in the U.S. Army

during World War II from Feb. 10, 1941, until July 10, 1945.



Mr. Marker farmed in the Rock Falls and Plymouth areas for many

years.



He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and VFW Post #733,

both of Mason City.



Survivors include one son, Robert M. Marker and his wife, Barbara,

Mason City; one granddaughter, Melissa Marker, Mason City; five

brothers, Ralph Marker and his wife, Bonnie, Mason City; John

Dorla (Roderick) Schindele was born April 23, 1934, at Clear

Lake, the daughter of Floyd and Ruth (Proctor) Smith.



Dorla was in the restaurant business for several years.



She married Richard C. Roderick in 1951 and he passed away in

1979.



In 1984, she married Morris Schindele.



She enjoyed watching softball, her family, her nephews and nieces,

grandchildren and friends.



She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mason City.



Survivors include three daughters, Stephanie Haisman and her

husband, Don, Buffalo Center; Debbie Platts and her husband,

Don, Mason City, and Candice Pelletier and her husband, Mark,

White Bear Lake, Minn.; one son, Robert Roderick and his wife,

Mickey, Mason City; 11 grandchildren, Ron, Dave and Mark Haisman,

Buffalo Center; April, Jenny and Sara Platts, Jake, Katie, Kari

and Kelli Roderick, all of Mason City; Jess Pelletier, Cloquet,

Minn.; one great-grandchild, Dakota Roll, Plymouth; one brother,

Luella O. Hesteness was born on Jan. 30, 1909, in Wind Lake,

Wis., the daughter of John and Emma (Johnson) Halverson.



She was baptized and reaffirmed the faith of her baptism at

the Muskego Lutheran Church (now the Norway Lutheran Church)

in Wind Lake, Wis.



She attended and received her education in the Waterford, Wis.,

school system graduating from Waterford, Wis., in 1927.



She also attended Grove Teachers College, Milwaukee State Teachers

College and Racine-Kenosha College, graduating from Whitewater

College.



After completing her education, she taught in the Wind Lake,

Wis., area, Kansasville near Union Grove, and also in the elementary

school in Edgerton, Wis., and served as principal at the Newville,

Wis., elementary school.



She was united in marriage to the Rev. Joseph R. Hestenes on

June 15, 1925, at the Old Muskego Lutheran Church in Wind Lake,

Wis. He preceded her in death on Aug. 7, 1996.



After their marriage, together with her husband, she helped

serve Lutheran parishes in Bozeman, Mont., from 1939 until 1944;

Central Lutheran Church, Edgerton, Wis., from 1944 until 1961;

Atonement Lutheran Church in Muskego , Wis., from 1961 until

1964; First Lutheran Church in Janesville, Wis., from 1964 until

1967; Blanchardville and York Memorial Lutheran Church, Blanchardville,

Wis,. from 1967 until 1975; Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waupun,

Wis., from 1975 until 1987. Upon their retirement they moved

to Stevens Point, Wis., and then to Northwood in April of 1995,

where they resided in the Maple Court Apts.



She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Northwood.



She enjoyed cooking, baking, entertaining people of all ages,

needle work, music, such as playing the piano, singing soprano

solos and in many church choirs, leading many Bible studies for

church circles, ELCA Ladies Aid, and teaching Sunday school and

confirmation, but her great love and enjoyment was her family

and working together with her husband as a minister's wife.



Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Leila Ganstad

and her husband, Lowell, of Northwood and Judy Knutson and her

husband, the Rev. Ken Knutson, of Stevens Point, Wis.; seven

grandchildren, Sandra Hess and her husband, Gary, of Dexter,

Mich.; Lori Kendall and her husband, David of Chanhassen, Minn.;

Julie Grotness and her husband, Matthew, of West Des Moines;

Kari Johnson and her husband, Jeff, of West Des Moines; Brian

Knutson and his wife, Holly, of Monroe, Wis.; Nathan Knutson

and his wife, Michele, of Minneapolis, Minn., and Kaia Knutson

of Minneapolis, Minn.; 10 great-grandchildren, Alex and Abby

Hess, Emily and Elsa Kendall, Sam and Ben Grotnes, Tyler Johnson

and Elizabeth, Hanna, and Madeline Knutson; one sister, Jane

(Gorman) Kullander of Theinsville, Wis., as well as other relatives

and friends.



Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents

and two brothers, Gene and Roger Halverson.

Mildred Grace Dadisman

RENWICK 



Mildred Grace Dadisman, 78, of Renwick, formerly of Manly,

died Monday (Jan. 27, 1997) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient

Unit, Mason City.



Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel

United Methodist Church, Manly, with the Rev. Robert Cumings

officiating. Following the funeral services, cremation will take

place with inurnment services at a later date in the Nevada Cemetery,

Nevada.



Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Bride Colonial Chapel,

110 E. Spring St., Manly, and one hour prior to service time

on Wednesday at the church.



The family of Mildred Grace Dadisman has requested that memorial

contributions be made to Hospice of North Iowa, 232 Second St.

S.E., Mason City, in her memory.



Mildred Grace Dadisman was born on June 18, 1918, in Nevada,

the daughter of Lee and Hattie (McColley) Handsacker.



She attended and received her high school education in the Lincoln,

Neb., High School, graduating in 1935.



She was united in marriage to Glenn A. Dadisman on July 14,

1937, in her mother's home southeast of Nevada. He preceded her

in death on Feb. 15, 1989.



After their marriage, together they farmed in the Nevada area

moving to the Manly area in 1947, where they continued to farm.



In 1971, Mildred earned her BA degree from Mankato State College.

Also during her life, she worked for Tom's Country Market in

Manly and also for Larson Manufacturing in Lake Mills for many

years until her retirement in 1980, moving to Iowa Falls in 1984

and then to Renwick in 1994.



She enjoyed bowling, raising, showing and grooming pedigree

dogs, antiques and playing cards.



She was a member of the Renwick United Methodist Church, former

member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Manly, and the

United Methodist Church, Iowa Falls, a former member of the Brown-Swiss

Breeders Association, member of the Willing Workers at the Bethel

United Methodist Church, Mason City Kennel Club and the Women's

International Bowling Congress.



Survivors include five children, Donald W. Dadisman and his

wife, Joyce, of Summerville, S.C.; Mary L. Sathoff and her husband,

Craig, of Iowa Falls; Jerrold G. Dadisman and his wife, Karen,

of Manly; Glenda S. Hefty and her husband, Fred, of Renwick,

and Sally M. Bale and her husband, Phillip, of Grimes; 12 grandchildren;

eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen M. Thomas of Redding,

Calif., as well as other relatives and friends.



Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents

and two children, Larry Dadisman and a girl who died in infancy.

biking and fishing with his grandfather.



James is survived by his mother, Jennie and her husband, Donnie

Blau, Meservey; his father, James E. True, Colorado Springs,

Colo.; one brother, Cody True, Fort Dodge; two sisters, Krystal

and Melissa Blau, Meservey; a maternal grandmother, Phyllis Roethler,

Nora Springs; paternal grandparents, Gordon and Linda True, Clear

in Mason City.

in Albert Lea, Minn.



Jim was a longtime painter, having worked on several large projects

in and around the Mason City area.  He retired Sept. 4, 1992,

due to his health.



Jim was a true craftsman known for his Intarsia, a style of

woodworking in which he took great pride and joy. His family

and friends were fortunate to reap the rewards of his talents.



He enjoyed his home and yardwork and was affiliated with St.

James Lutheran Church.



The family wishes to express many thanks to Joyce and Dianne

of Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit for their loving care at

this time of need. They were even able to fulfill Jim's last

big wish.



Survivors include his wife, Marlene E. Wallace of Mason City;

Dean G. Hale, 76, of 1485 Marlin Drive, Naples,  a former Mason

City, Iowa, resident, died Wednesday (Jan. 22, 1997) at his home.



Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Elmwood-St.

Joseph Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa, with the Rev. John Hill of

First Presbyterian Church officiating.



There is no visitation. Major Erickson Funeral Home, Mason City,

Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.

Dean G. Hale was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on Nov. 1, 1920.



He graduated from Mason City High School and married his high

school sweetheart, Margaret Janet Currier on Sept. 19, 1941.



Mr. Hale was a World War II Air Force veteran.



He was co-owner and president of Hale-Phipps Motors Dodge-Chrysler

Dealership for 23 years in Mason City and Garner, Iowa.



He was also involved in many civic associations while living

in Iowa.



After retiring to Naples 1976, he became actively involved in

feeding and clothing the underprivileged in Immokalee.



He was currently on the board of the Royal Harbor Association.

LeRoy Edward Schulz, 95, of 200 First Ave N.E., Austin, died

Community Chapel, Austin, with the Rev. Joe Matt officiating.

Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.

LeRoy Edward Schulz was born Feb. 9, 1901, in Farmington, the

son of Edward G.F. and Mary Zender Schulz.



He received his schooling in the Farmington schools.



He was united in marriage to Pearl Mae Duff on Oct. 7, 1925,

in Minneapolis.



He left Farmington in 1936, moved to Castle Rock until 1938,

moved to Austin in 1938 until present.



He was employed at Dugan's Sport Shop for 12 years, retiring

in 1966.



He worked as a bulk agent for Mobil Oil Company, Austin; drove

city bus in Austin, and was a custodian for Austin Public Schools.



He loved to play cards and he loved his family and friends.



He  was a member of Odd Fellows (Past Noble Grand) and recently

honored as a 75-year member. He was a member of AARP, Golden

Age and Crane Community Chapel.



Survivors include two sons, Clayton Schulz and his wife, Beverly,

Mason City, Iowa; and Fred Schulz and his wife, Nancy, Lubbock,

Texas; one daughter, Janis L. Schlimmer, Newburgh, Ind.; 11 grandchildren;

22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Stapf, Farmington; and

special friends, Mildred Baldus, Austin, and Earl and Gert Nielsen,

Oakland.



He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Mae Duff, who died

May 28, 1980; his parents, Edward and Mary; three brothers, Clarence

``Mike'', Roland ``Sonny'', and Milton in infancy; three sisters,

Olive Boyd, Myra Quinell and Mildred Schulz; and one granddaughter,

Dawn.

Eldon D. Amy, 67, of Osage, died Tuesday (Jan. 28, 1997) at

Veterans Administration Medical Center, Des Moines.



Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Champion

Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Newland officiating. Burial

will be in the Osage Cemetery with graveside military rites by

American Legion Post 278 of Osage.



Visitation will begin after 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Champion Funeral

Home.



Eldon D. Amy was born June 29, 1929, at Nora Springs.



Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of Osage; four daughters,

Janice Matthews of Tucson, Ariz.; Jane Schmidt and her husband,

Rick, of Augusta, Wis.; Jenell Wadd of Nashua, and Josephine

Roe of Floyd; one son, David Tillotson of Osage; two sisters,

Ruth Decker of Nashua, and Florence Tireman, Osage; one brother,

Bill Amy, Lake Isabella, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-

grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and sisters,

one grandson and one great-grandson.

Alpha M. Thompson

FOREST CITY 



Alpha M. Thompson, 89, of Forest City, died Saturday (Jan.

25, 1997) at the Lake Mills Care Center.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel

Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Sharon Worthington officiating.

Burial will be in the spring at Oakland Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Petersen

Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark.



Alpha M. Thompson was born in Mount Valley Township, Winnebago

County, on July 12, 1907, the daughter of Ole and Signe (Rollefson)

Hanson.



She was baptized  in the Lutheran faith at Beaver Creek Lutheran

Church and received her education at Unstead Country School.



On Jan. 14, 1925, she was married to William Thompson. The couple

farmed in the Forest City-Thompson areas before moving to Forest

City in 1930.



Alpha was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Ladies

Circle.



She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and crafts.



She died at the Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills on Jan.

25, 1997, at the age of 89 years.



She is survived by two sons and their spouses, Richard and Beverly

Thompson of Forest City, and Robert and Pearl Thompson of Roseville,

Minn.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Marilyn L. Penney, 57, of 725 S. Carolina Ave., died Tuesday

(Jan. 28, 1997) at her home.



A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday

Carl Ries of St. Joseph's Catholic Church officiating. Burial

will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

Marilyn L. Penney was born May 29, 1939, the daughter of John

T. and Leona (Osslund) Penney in Mason City.



Marilyn attended and graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic School

in 1957.



She was a lifelong resident of Mason City.



She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.



Survivors include her mother, Leona Penney, Mason City; one

half brother, Bernard Penney of California; one nephew, Brian

Penney; one niece, Maureen Penney; aunts and uncles, Leland and

Vera Osslund, Mason City; Marvin Osslund, Clear Lake, and Norman

and Audrey Osslund, Thousand Oaks, Calif.; special cousin, Roxie

Espinosa, Mason City; and several other cousins.



She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.

Gladys O'Donnell was born June 10, 1913, in rural Lone Rock.

Ariz.; Karon Storjohann, St. Clair, Minn., and Linda Vaske, Bancroft;

sons, Richard O'Donnell, Mason City, and Bill O'Donnell, Lone

Rock; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Esther

Sorenson of Burt; Dorothy Marlow, Lone Rock, and Evelyn Warner,

Grimes; and one brother, Arthur Bierstedt, Algona.

Hanford W. Floy was born on Dec. 18, 1922, on the family farm

outside of Thornton, the son of Marcus and Caroline (Schmale)

Floy.



He attended the Thornton Public School system before he started

his farming career in Cerro Gordo County.



He was united in marriage to Marvel Thorne and to this marriage

were born three daughters. 



On April 17, 1982, he was united in marriage to Gloria Folkerts

in the Little Brown Church of Nashua.  They made their home in

Thornton.



Along with farming, Hanford worked as a crop hail adjuster for

the Farmer's Mutual Company for 20 years before retiring in 1989.



He enjoyed watching Hawkeye football games, spending time gardening

both vegetables and flowers along with watching the birds that

he faithfully fed in his yard.



He is survived by his wife, Gloria, of Thornton; three daughters,

Judith Katchen and her husband, Jim, of Aurora, Colo.; Mary Morris

and her husband, Rickie, of Brooklyn Center, Minn., and Carol

Tucker and her husband, Jim, of Hudson, Fla.; six stepchildren,

Daryl Love and his wife, Wanda, of Northwood; Danny Love and

his wife, Deb, of Mesa, Ariz.; Dennis Love of Kanawha; Diane

Galbreath of Phoenix, Ariz.; Dixie Love of Phoenix, Ariz., and

Debra Love of Kanawha; seven grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren;

three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Iona Ahrens and her

husband, Al, of Thornton; Mardella Hughes of Fresno, Calif.,

Center, Mason City.

and Sites Funeral Home, with the Rev. Phillip Peters of First

Lutheran Church, Glenville, Minn., officiating.  Burial will

be in Sunset Rest Cemetery.

Survivors include his parents, William and Gail Read of Northwood;

two brothers, Benjamin Read and Michael Read, both of Northwood;

one sister, Amy Wallin of Remsen; maternal grandfather, Dale

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother and his

Mae Tuma was born June 27, 1898, in Spillville.

Lucille V. Pilgrim was born Feb. 25, 1917, at Ole, S.D.



Survivors include her husband, Maurice Pilgrim of Osage; three

daughters, Shirley Stockwell of Altoona; Patricia Hunt of Van

Meter, and Mary Satern of Humboldt; two sons, Mervin Bommel of

Waukee, and Gary Bommel of Parsons, Kan.; two stepsons, Louis

Busse and Lyle Busse, both of Fort Dodge; 31 grandchildren; 35

great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rita Ziesman of Algona, and

Fern Brown of Clarence, Mo.; and two brothers, Daniel Zuetlau

prior to services in the new addition at the church.  A parish

wake service will be held at 7 tonight at the funeral home.

to the Cancer Center at North Iowa Mercy Health Center in her

name.



Beryl was born July 19, 1921, in Fonda, the daughter of William

Leo and Bessie Burnace (Walden) Blanchet.  She graduated from

Manson High School and later Hamilton Business College in Mason

City in 1939.  Beryl was united in marriage to Basil F. Stelpflug

on April 28, 1943, at Manson.  She worked for the Pepsi Bottling

Company for 9 years as a bookkeeper, retiring in 1971.  Following

her retirement she moved to California for the next 16 years,

returning to Mason City in 1987, where she has lived ever since.

Beryl remained active by doing the things she loved, which included

dancing, playing bridge, crocheting and sewing.  She also kept

her business skills sharp by being the secretary for the Senior

Citizens Center.  Beryl was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.



Beryl will be sadly missed by her loving daughter, Mary Ann,

and her husband, Daniel Newbrough, and her granddaughter, Haley

Newbrough, all of Britt.



Beryl was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Basil,

on May 18, 1972; and her grandson, Jason Newbrough in 1990.

Funeral services for Ara F. Ruckdashel, 87, of Rockford, will

be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor

John Albrecht officiating.  Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs. Ruckdashel passed away at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient

Unit, Mason City, on Wednesday (Jan. 29, 1997).



Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at the Schumburg Funeral

Home.  The family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m.



Ara was the daughter of Harvey S. Lyman and Mildred F. (Sawyer)

Lyman and was born March 7, 1909, in Mason City.  Shortly after

her birth her mother died and she was cared for and nurtured

by a family friend, Grace Torgeson.  Ara attended school and

graduated from the Mason City School System.  In her younger

years, Ara performed for the Cimyotti Circus, riding horses bareback

while standing.  She was employed in Des Moines, Chicago and

St. Louis before returning to the area and marrying James A.

Ruckdashel on Feb. 16, 1934.  After their marriage they owned

and operated Rick's Cafe in Rockford.



Ara has been active in her church, the church circles and was

a member of the American Legion Auxiliary since the late 1930s.

She is remembered by her friends for all of the cards she sent

on special occasions.



She is survived by her children, Irene Eggena of Mason City;

Virgil and his wife, Betty Ruckdashel, of Polson, Mont.; Richard

and his wife, Carol Ruckdashel, of Lewiston, Idaho, and Donna

and her husband, Luther Follmuth, of Mason City; 18 grandchildren;

40 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and a special

friend, Ivan Wallbaum of Rockford.



Mrs. Ruckdashel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband,

five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Patrick John Smith, 48, of Waseca, died Wednesday (Jan. 29,

1997) in Mason City, Iowa.

will be in Calvary Cemetery in Woodville Township, Waseca County.

Home for Funerals, 109 Third St. N.E., with a 7:30 p.m. parish

prayer service.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to services

at the church on Saturday.



Patrick John Smith was born Aug. 5, 1948, in Faribault, the

son of Joseph and Joyce (Schuller) Smith. He graduated from Waterville

High School in 1966.  He married Maureen Rose Allen on Jan. 17,

1970, in Mankato.  He worked for Chicago-Northwestern and Union

Pacific Railroads as a conductor and switchman for 28 years.

He had been the local chairman for United Transportation Union.

He enjoyed fishing, softball, pool and auto mechanics.  He was a

member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the VFW in Waseca.



He is survived by his wife, Maureen, of Waseca; sons, Joe and

his wife, Janet Smith, of Forest Grove, Ore.; Patrick Smith Jr.

of Waseca, and Noah Smith of Waseca; two grandchildren, Brittany

and Brandon Smith; his mother, Joyce Smith of Faribault; brothers,

Jerald and his wife, Gloria Smith, of St. Paul, and Dan and his

wife, Heidi Smith, of Faribault; sisters, Joanna and her husband,

Gary Angell, of Faribault; Diane Roemhildt of Shieldsville; Mary

Jo and her husband, Charles Meyer, of Faribault; Colleen Smith

of Faribault, and Terri Ann Smith of Faribault; and several nieces

and nephews.

Ruth was born Sept. 16, 1916, in Mason City, the daughter of

Shadrach and Ida (Anderson) Morgan.  She graduated from Mason

City High School in 1933, and Mason City Junior College (now

NIACC) in 1935.  She graduated from Iowa State Teachers College

(now UNI) in 1937.  She taught elementary school for one year

each at Cherokee and Anthon.  She returned to Mason City in 1939

and taught at Wilson School for 12 years, and Roosevelt Elementary

School for 30 years, retiring in 1981.  She was a member of IRSPA

(Iowa Retired School Personnel Association) and an active and

loved member of the First Christian Church.  Ruth was a devoted

and dedicated Christian and loved her church, and enjoyed the

many children she taught.



Survivors include one brother, John L. Morgan and his wife,

Margaret, of Austin, Minn.; one niece, Anne Baudler and her husband,

David, of Oakland, Calif.; one nephew, John S. Morgan of Muskegon,

Mich.; great nephews, Mark, Jay and Matthew Baudler and Stephen

Morgan; great niece, Jennifer Morgan; cousins, Charles Swift

and his wife, Joyce, of Mason City, and Dorothy Farrer of Mason

City.



She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Ingeborg T. Stauner, 92, of 323 W. North St., died Wednesday

(Jan. 29, 1997) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason

City.



Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Bethlehem

Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Olson officiating.  Interment

will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.



Visitation begins after 3 p.m. today at Bride Colonial Chapel.

Ingeborg was born June 12, 1904, in Manchester, Minn., the daughter

of Ole and Torbjorn (Neshaug) Myran.  She married Casper Lawrence

Stauner on Dec. 1, 1927, in Albert Lea, Minn.  They moved to

Manly in 1928, where she has lived ever since.  Ingeborg belonged

to Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the Rebekah Lodge in Manly.



Ingeborg is survived by three nieces, Mrs. Mae Alice Thofson
