Francis R. `Butch' Flusek, 59, of 4 Senna St., died Friday (Jan.

19, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.



Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's

Lutheran Church, rural Ventura, with the Rev. Carl Hedberg officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.



Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at the Ward-Van Slyke

Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake.



The family suggests that memorials be made to the Francis ``Butch''

Flusek Memorial Fund.



He was born May 2, 1936, in Albert Lea, Minn., a son of Frank

P. and Lillian (Trinkle) Flusek.  He graduated from Ventura High

School in 1954.



At the age of 16 he worked for A.E. Nelson, the Ventura Telephone

Co.  After his high school graduation, he began working at the

Clear Lake Independent Telephone Company.  He continued with

the company until his death.



On July 20, 1956, he was united in marriage to Donna Mae R.

Benz at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ventura.



His hobbies included fishing and hunting, as well as tinkering

with firearms, photography and music, especially bluegrass and

country and western.  He enjoyed helping people and was responsible

for doing wiring in many Ventura homes.



He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Ventura,

the Ventura Gun Club, National Rifle Association and the Independent

Telephone Pioneer Association.



He is survived by his wife, Donna Mae Flusek of Ventura; three

children, Norma Jean Flusek of Ventura, William F. Flusek of

Colorado Springs, Colo., and Robert Alan Flusek of Ventura; and

a sister, Mary Ann Harrington and her husband, Bill, of Mountain

Home, Ark.



He was preceded in death by his parents.

Clara Vierkant

ROCKWELL 



Clara Vierkant, 92, of 807 Washington, died Thursday evening

(Jan. 19, 1996) at the Sheffield Care Center.



Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Fullerton

Funeral Home.  Officiating will be the Rev. Robert Dodge of the

United Methodist Church.



Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Interment will be at the Amsterdam Cemetery, Goodell.



Clara was born Oct. 8, 1903, in Keokuk, a daughter of Andrew

and Malinda Stiedley.  After her parents' deaths she was raised

by the Henry Miender family in Belmond, where she attended school.



She was united in marriage to Harm Vierkant on Sept. 2, 1921,

in Hancock County.  They farmed in the Rockwell area for 35 years.

Her special love was gardening with flowers and vegetables.

She also crocheted many many items.  Clara moved to the Sheffield

Care Center in April 1994.



Clara is survived by her three children, Mrs. Daniel (Bennett)

Sharp of Rockford, Harm Vierkant of Sheffield and Andy and his

wife, Alice Vierkant, of Winlock, Wash.; four grandchildren;

seven great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1978;

and nine brothers and sisters.

Wanda E. Moore, 74, died Wednesday (Jan. 17, 1996) at North

Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.



Interment will take place at a later date. There will be no

services or visitation. The body was cremated.  Sietsema Vogel

Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.



Wanda E. Moore was born Nov. 18, 1921, in Rowan.



Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Barbara Moore of Polk,

Neb.; and two grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one son.

William ``Bill'' Deegan, 94, died Friday (Jan. 19, 1996) at

the Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage.



A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate

Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. John Moser and the Rev.

Don Lovejoy officiating.  Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.



Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Lindstrom Funeral

Home, where a scripture service will be held at 6:30 p.m.



William ``Bill'' Deegan was born March 19, 1901, in Boone.



Survivors include his wife, Mary, of Riceville; one son, Thomas,

of Riceville; one grandson; and two sisters, Katie O'Conell of

Plymouth, Wis., and Esther Barak of Beaumont, Calif.



He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and three

brothers.

Gale Lyle Wiebke, 72, died Friday (Jan. 19, 1996) near his home

of exposure.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's

Baldwin officiating.  Burial will be in St. John's Evangelical

Lutheran Cemetery.

Funeral Home, Allison.



Gale Lyle Wiebke was born March 28, 1923, in Butler County.



Survivors include his wife, Sena Wiebke of Bristow; one daughter,

Joan Webb of Cedar Falls; one son, Keith Wiebke of Allison; one

sister, Fern Wiebke of Milwaukee, Wis.; and five grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Genevieve L. Wallace

Genevieve L. Wallace, 81, of 432 S. Tennessee Place, died Thursday

(Jan. 18, 1996) at her home.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at  Major

Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev.

Merlin Ackerson of First United Methodist Church  officiating.

Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral

home, and will continue until time of services on Monday.



The family suggests memorials to the Genevieve L. Wallace Memorial

Fund or Hospice of North Iowa.



Genevieve L. Wallace was born Sept. 19, 1914, a daughter of

Clyde N. and Myrtle (Minnier) Wright, at Clear Lake.  Genevieve

graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1932.  She attended

Iowa State College and then graduated from Hamilton's School

of Business.  Genevieve worked for Dr. Engloff as a receptionist

and with Ethel Ridgeway in the Cerro Gordo County Treasurer's

Office.  In 1944, Genevieve went to work for the Chicago Great

Northwestern Railroad, which later became the Chicago Northwestern

Railroad.  She retired in 1977 as the chief clerk, working 33

years for the railroad.  Genevieve married Vaughn C. Wallace

on Jan. 13, 1953, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.



She was a member of First United Methodist Church, a life member

of the Eastern Star for 58 years and a former member of the B.P.W.

and WaTanYe Club.



Survivors include one brother, Virgil L. Wright of Mason City.



She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband,  Vaughn,

in 1980.

Mike F. Zack

MASON CITY 



Mike F. Zack, 97, of 503 S. Tennessee Place, died Thursday (Jan.

18, 1996) at the Heritage Care Center.



Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran

Church with the Rev. Nils `Chris' Hellevik officiating.  Burial

will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with a flag folding ceremony

by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association.



Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson

Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and will continue one

hour prior to services at the church on Monday.



The family suggests memorials to the Mike Zack Memorial Fund.



Mike was born Oct. 4, 1898, in Chicago, a son of Mike and Frances

(Marek) Zack.  At an early age, Mike, along with his parents,

moved to Garner.  After serving in the U.S. Army during World

War I, Mike went into partnership with his brother, Albert Zack,

in the Zack Brothers Electric Company of Mason City.  He served

eight years as a national director of the Iowa-Nebraska region

in the National Electrical Apparatus Service Association, became

president, and in 1951-52 was elected national president.  Mike

retired from the electrical business in 1969.



Always an avid hunter and fisherman, he continued to be active

in the conservation of natural resources and in 1963 he was appointed

to the Iowa Conservation Commission by former Gov.  Harold Hughes,

and served as chairman of the Commission in 1968.  He had been

president of the North Central Iowa Rod and Gun Club, the Association

for the Preservation of Clear Lake and of the Iowa Association

of County Conservation Boards.  Recently, the Fin and Feather

Lake, south of Mason City, was named after him.  Mike was a member

of Trinity Lutheran Church, having served in many positions,

including president of the congregation, and was a member of

the American Legion.



Mike married Minnie Walbaum on April 3, 1969, in Mason City.

He will be remembered for his sense of humor, work ethic and

courage.  He was an inspiration.



Survivors include his wife, Minnie Zack of Mason City; one daughter,

Vivian Schurfranz of Wilmette, Ill.; and nieces and a nephew.

Ella Kingland, 95, died Saturday (Jan. 20, 1996) at Oakwood

Survivors include three daughters, Marian Cold of Sun City West,

grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and seven

brothers and sisters.

Roxann C. Lonning, 55, of 934 14th St. S.E., died Saturday morning

(Jan. 20, 1996) at her home with her family by her side.



Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran

Church.  Officiating will be the Rev. Chris Hellevik.  Interment

will be in the Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.



Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at the Fullerton Funeral

Home, 123 Second St. S.E.



Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to make donations

to Hospice of North Iowa in Roxann's name.



Roxann was born the only child of Reuben and Ruth (Oehler) Styve

in Decorah on Jan. 19, 1941.  In 1959 she graduated from high

school in Decorah.  She was united in marriage to Richard Lonning

on Oct. 6, 1965 in Waukon, and to this union were born four children.

Roxann and Dick lived in Decorah until moving to Minneapolis,

where they lived for eight years.  They then moved to Mason City

and have lived here for over 20 years.  She is a member of Trinity

Lutheran Church and ``Tops''.  She enjoyed antique hunting at

auctions, garage sales and area stores, collecting many different

items.  She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren,

attending all the many activities she could with them.



Roxann will be sadly missed by her husband, Richard `Dick' Lonning

of Mason City; her father, Reuben of Decorah; and her children,

Kimberly Rubalcava, Jan and her husband, Richard Hedrick, Kyle

and his wife, Faye, Jeff and his wife, Lani; her daughter-in-law,

Caroline Lonning; and her son-in-law, Robert Rubalcava, all of

Mason City; her 11 endearing grandchildren, Kati Ann and Pablo

Rubalcava, Nicholas and Jordan Hedrick, Whitney, Jake, Sadie

Ann and Taylor Lonning, Kelli, Ben and April Jeffrey.



Roxann was preceded in death by her mother.

Greta Chappell Thomas

EDINA, Minn. 



Greta Chappell Thomas, 79, formerly of Clear Lake, has died.



In celebration of her life, there will be a memorial service

at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Edinborough Senior Highrise Terrace

Club Room, 3330 Edinborough Way, Edina.  Private interment will

be held at the Clear Lake Cemetery.  The Cremation Society of

Minnesota is in charge of arrangements.



Memorials are preferred to the Greta Chappell Thomas Education

Fund, c/o Grethen House, 3928 W. 50th St., Edina, Minn. 55424.

This fund is being established for the dignity and loving care

the nursing assistants gave Greta.



Greta was the founder of Grethen House in Clear Lake 40 years

ago, and moved the store to Edina in 1981.  She authored the

Grethen House Cookbook and remained an active partner in the

Grethen House until 1994.  She will be remembered as a gentle,

dignified lady.



She is survived by one son, Henry E. Thomas and his wife, Corliss

of Stillwater, Minn.; one daughter, Mary and her husband, Robert

J. Brindley of Carver, Minn.; grandchildren, Annie, Tadd, Robb,

and Ben; one sister, Charlotte and her husband, Randolph Sherman

of Maryland.

Minnie B. Johnson was born June 27, 1897, near Ventura.

Harold J. Ford was born March 17, 1902, in Shabbona Township,

Ill.



Survivors include one son, Duane Ford of Nora Springs; a special

friend, Florence Roberts of Charles City; two stepdaughters,

Mabel Lucas of Plano, Ill, and Harriett Gould of Earlville, Ill.;

several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; one sister;

one stepson; one stepdaughter; and one great-grandchild.

Charles City.

Elfrieda Sengbusch was born Jan. 24, 1902, in Lakefield, Minn.



Survivors include three stepsons, Donald Sengbusch of Cheyenne,

Wyo.; George Sengbusch of Mille Lac, Minn., and Richard Sengbusch

of Houston, Texas; seven stepgrandchildren; three sisters, Elizabeth

Ostwald of Algona, Rekie Anliker of Burlington, and Lydia Zaugg

of Rockford, Ill.; and two brothers, Louis Schafer and August

Schafer, both of West Bend.



She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, two

sisters and two infant sisters.

officiating.

Mrs. Compton was born Feb. 14, 1903, in Clear Lake.



Survivors include one son, William Compton of Mason City; sisters,

Dorothy Reichardt of Ohio and Jeanette Miller of Arizona; three

grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her husband and one daughter.

Elmer L. Larson, 83, of 101 N. Main, Ventura, died Saturday

(Jan. 20, 1996) at the Americana Nursing Home in Mason City.



Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the United

Methodist Church, Ventura, with the Rev. David Gobeli officiating.

Interment will be in Amsterdam Cemetery, Goodell.



Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today at the Ward-Van Slyke

Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, with the family

present from 7 to 8 p.m. to receive friends.



The family suggests memorials to the Ventura United Methodist

Church or Ventura Senior Citizens Center.



Elmer was born July 6, 1912, in Mason City, the son of John

and Mary (Kolling) Larson.



He graduated from Klemme High School and continued his education

at Coyne Electrical School, Chicago, Ill.



Elmer came back and farmed west of Klemme and later moved to

farm south of Ventura.



He married Marjorie Bachman. They moved into Ventura in 1963.



Elmer worked for Ventura schools as a custodian and bus driver.

Marjorie preceded him in death on April 19, 1977.



On Dec. 19, 1981, he married Ida June Hoeft. She preceded him

in death on Sept. 6, 1993.



Elmer liked to garden and was active in Ventura Senior Citizens.



He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Ventura.



Elmer is survived by five sons, Cecil Larson and his wife, Karen,

of Sioux City; John Larson and his wife, Marilyn, of Sioux City;

Gerald Larson and his wife, Ann, of Dallas, Texas; Keith Larson

of Cherokee, and Wayne Larson and his wife, Sally, of Tacoma,

Wash.; two stepdaughters, Marilyn Schotanus and her husband,

Gerald, of St. Ansgar, and Evelyn Knudtson and her husband, Victor,

of Lake Mills; two stepsons, Thomas Hoeft and his wife, Kaye,

of Fort Collins, Colo., and Robert Hoeft and his wife, Betty,

of Ventura; 14 grandchildren; 16 stepgrandchildren; seven

great-grandchildren; 20 stepgreat-grandchildren; and three

step great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lenora Mients

of KIemme, and Sylvia Early of Mason City; and one brother,

Jim Larson of Belmond.



He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; one grandson,

Russell Larson; two brothers; and three sisters.

Marie Arlene Myran

GLENVILLE, Minn. 



Funeral services for Marie Arlene Myran, 72, of Glenville,

will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Bethlehem Lutheran

Church, Myrtle, with the Rev. Kevin Olson officiating. Burial

will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Glenville.



Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Bayview/Freeborn

Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at the church.



Marie died on Sunday (Jan. 21, 1996) at St. Olaf Hospital, Austin.



Marie A. Myran was born on June 10, 1923 in Northwood, Iowa,

the daughter of Peder and Ida (Loken) Madsen.



She attended and graduated from Northwood High School.



Marie worked for a short time at the Creamery in Mason City,

Iowa, and on May 12, 1946, she was united in married to Joseph

Myran in Northwood.



The couple moved to Albert Lea, then to Hayward and then the

couple purchased their farm in Glenville.



Marie worked for Wilson's and later for Land-O-Lakes in Albert

Lea.



For close to 50 years, she had played along with her husband

in the Joe Myran Band, traveling to many different areas.



She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the church

circles.



Survivors include her husband, Joseph; sons, Dean and his wife,

Khadija, and daughter, Bellkeyce, of Lakeville; Don and his wife,

Jackie, and children, Ariel and Keri, of Albert Lea; daughter,

JoAnn and husband, Tony Wahl and children, Lucy and Andy, of

Lakeville; brothers, Paul and wife, Kay Madsen of Albert Lea,

and Irl and his wife, Beverly Madsen of Northwood; a sister,

Rethamel officiating. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery

at Alta Vista.

Nicholas Edward Kolbet was born Aug. 2, 1924, at New Hampton,

son of Nicholas and Mary (Ravers) Kolbet.



He was a graduate of St. Williams High School in Alta Vista

and was married to Mary Grober on April 23, 1946, at St. Bernard's

Catholic Church.



They farmed their entire married life on the Kolbet family farm

near Alta Vista.



Nick was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, where he

had served on the parish council. He was a former member of the

Howard County Equity Board, and a former trustee for Deerfield

Township. He was a 50-year member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4144 of which

he was a former Grand Knight.



Nick is survived by one son, Robert, and his friend, Carla,

of Mason City; one daughter, Mrs. Steve (Rosalie) Christensen

of Riceville; three grandchildren, Barry, JoLynn and Kayla Christensen,

all of Riceville; three sisters, Leone Lentz of Cresco, Marie

Gebel of Alta Vista, and Evelyn Adams of Chester; and two brothers,

Joe of New Hampton, and Paul of Cresco.



He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary, in

1987; and one brother, Leonard, in infancy.

He attended school in the Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock, Iowa, school

system.  He was a resident of Lake Havasu City for 23 years,

moving there from Ames.  He owned a convenience store in Lake

Havasu City for five years.  He served in Korea in the U.S. Army,

and was a life member of VFW Post #9401, Lake Havasu City, the

American Legion and the Elks.



Survivors include daughter, Pamela Hildebrand and her husband,

Skip, and their son, Jeremy of Mason City, Iowa; son, Dean Huse,

his friend Carol and their daughter, Jamie Dean of Houston, Texas;

two years. He married Barbara Trevett on Jan. 2, 1954, in Mason

City.  Loren worked for the AGRI Soybean Plant for 33 years and

retired in 1991.  He was a member of the VFW.

three sons, Mark Hohenfield and his wife, Phyllis, and Randy

Hohenfield and his friend, Angie, all of Mason City, and Terry

Christian Church on Tuesday, Jan. 23, in Weslaco, Texas.



Keith Edwin Bryant was born in 1913 in Lehigh, Iowa.



He was united in marriage to Catherine Catlen in 1941.



They resided in Ohio and Indiana until he retired, moving to

Mason City, Iowa. Later,  they resided permanently in Weslaco,

Texas.



He served in the United States Army during World War II.



He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Odd Fellows, American

Legion 40 et 8.



He is survived by five brothers, Bill Bryant of Branson, Mo.;

John D. Bryant of Wichita, Kan.; Newton Bryant and Bert Bryant,

both of Mason City, Iowa, and James Bryant of Weslaco, Texas;

three sisters, Mildred Livingston of Mason City, Iowa; Clarice

Christensen of Weslaco, Texas, and Enid Buss of Des Moines; and

many nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Catherine,

Merle Lloyd Bredlow was born April 23, 1919, in Liberty Township,

Hancock County, Iowa, a son of Walter John Bredlow and Lavina

Ulrich Bredlow.



Mr. Bredlow married Alice Irene Kroeger on Jan. 7, 1957, in

Mason City.



Merle was retired after more than 22 years of employment as

a property maintenance engineer at The Harbourage Condominiums

in Clear Lake.



After retirement, he worked as a private residential painting

contractor.



For the past 55 years, he was active as one of Jehovah's witnesses

and truly lived his faith.



Merle had many dear friends that he dearly loved and would

like to express it at this time. His wife shares this sentiment

as well.



We are very grateful for our loving neighbors and all the encouragement

from our friends.



Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Alice Irene Bredlow

of Mason City; one son, Ethan Bredlow of Clear Lake; one brother,

Esther Alvina Lau, the daughter of Henry and Augusta (Keel)

Jante, was born July 14, 1903, on a farm north of Garner.



She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church

northeast of Garner.



She attended school at St. John's Lutheran Parochial School

and Garner Community School.



Esther was a telephone operator for Koerner's Telephone Company

in Klemme for several years.



On Oct. 16, 1926, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Harold

Lau at Garner, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage. They

made their home in Klemme.



After her husband's death in 1987, she moved to Prairie View

Apartments in Garner, and later to Claremont Retirement Village

in Columbus, Ohio, where she lived the past four years.



Esther was a dedicated homemaker and mother, who loved to cook,

bake and play bridge and ``500'' with relatives and friends.



She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Klemme

during her years in Klemme and while in Garner, belonged to St.

Paul Lutheran Church.



She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cozette and

David Lamb of Worthington, Ohio; and two grandchildren, Michelle

Lamb and Jason Lamb; and a sister-in-law, Louise Jante of Owatonna,

Minn.



She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd H. Lau on March

21, 1987; her parents; three sisters, Emma Hollatz on  Aug. 31,

1981; Caroline Hoeft on July 9, 1987, and Minnie Hoeft on June

J. and Lillian (Riser) Bennett.



The Bennett family moved to West Bend in 1940 and James graduated

from Des Moines Township in 1952.



James and his brothers farmed in the West Bend area until 1967

when James moved to Mason City and started working for the Chicago

& North Western Railroad.



He was currently employed by the railroad.



He was a member of the United Transportation Union, loved playing

pinochle, deer hunting, gardening and sharing his computer skills

with his grandchildren and others.



He will be sadly missed by his wife, Suzette ``Sue'' Bennett

of Mason City; three  daughters, Anita J. Bennett of Mason City;

Cynthia Rankin and her husband, Albert, of Rapid City, S.D.,

and Jane Euell and her husband, Daniel, of Littleton, Colo.;

three sons, Allen Dean Bennett and his wife, Robin, of Aspers,

Pa.; Jerald Bennett and his wife, Pam, of Jacksonville, Fla.,

and John Bennett and his wife, Laura, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; three

stepdaughters, Connie Bowan and her husband, Bob, of Albuquerque,

Loren D. Hohenfield was born Feb. 16, 1929, in Beatrice, Neb.,

the son of Rudolph and Helen (Runge) Hohenfield. Loren moved

to Mason City as a youngster and graduated from Mason City High

School.



He served in the United States Army during the Korean War for

two years. He married Barbara Trevett on Jan. 2, 1954, in Mason

City.  Loren worked for the AGRI Soybean Plant for 33 years and

retired in 1991.  He was a member of the VFW.



Survivors include his wife, Barbara Hohenfield of Mason City;

three sons, Mark Hohenfield and his wife, Phyllis, and Randy

Hohenfield and his friend, Angie, all of Mason City, and Terry

Hohenfield and his wife, Cindy, of Nora Springs; one daughter,

Shawn Luna and her husband, Randy, of Mason City; six grandchildren,

Christopher, Laura, Jerry, Jamey, Elsie and Lindsey; seven sisters,

Pat Schultz and her husband, Cecil, of Mason City; Lois Berry

and her husband, John, of Renville, Minn.; Vera Husak and her

husband, John, of Mankato, Minn.; Betty Albright and her husband,

Fred, of Clear Lake; Virg Thomas and her husband, David, of Rantoul,

Ill.; Sis Redmond and Gerri Bramsen, both of Mason City; two

brothers, Sam Hohenfield of Bode and Butch Hohenfield and his

wife, Pat, of Rockford, Ill.



He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one

son.

James E. Bennett

MASON CITY



James E. Bennett, 61, 5 Regency Lane, died Monday (Jan. 22,

1996) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.



Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Major Erickson

Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Burial will be at 3 p.m.

at the Clinton-Garfield Cemetery in Rolfe.



Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today and Friday until

time of services at Major Erickson Funeral Home.



James was born June 25, 1934, in Greenville, the son of William

J. and Lillian (Riser) Bennett.



The Bennett family moved to West Bend in 1940 and James graduated

from Des Moines Township in 1952.



James and his brothers farmed in the West Bend area until 1967

when James moved to Mason City and started working for the Chicago

& North Western Railroad.



He was currently employed by the railroad.



He was a member of the United Transportation Union, loved playing

pinochle, deer hunting, gardening and sharing his computer skills

with his grandchildren and others.



He will be sadly missed by his wife, Suzette ``Sue'' Bennett

of Mason City; three  daughters, Anita J. Bennett of Mason City;

Cynthia Rankin and her husband, Albert, of Rapid City, S.D.,

and Jane Euell and her husband, Daniel, of Littleton, Colo.;

three sons, Allen Dean Bennett and his wife, Robin, of Aspers,

Pa.; Jerald Bennett and his wife, Pam, of Jacksonville, Fla.,

and John Bennett and his wife, Laura, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; three

stepdaughters, Connie Bowan and her husband, Bob, of Albuquerque,

N.M.; Cathy Bancroft of Mason City, and Cindy Smithe and her

husband, Dennis, of West Union; one brother, William B. Bennett

and his wife, Marian, of West Bend; 15 grandchildren; and many

nieces, nephews, and loving family.



He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers.

Ronald Folkers

HAMPTON



Ronald Folkers, 75, of Des Moines, formerly of Hampton, died

Wednesday (Jan. 24, 1996) at the Calvin Manor, Des Moines.



A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the

Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home, Hampton, with the Rev. Larry McCann

officiating. Burial will be at a later date.



There is no visitation. The body was cremated.



Ronald Folkers was born Nov. 20, 1920, in Hampton, the son of

Lawrence Otto Folkers and Nettie (Geerdes) Folkers.



He was a graduate of Hampton High School in Hampton.



He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Gill on Aug. 2, 1942,

in Lancaster, Mo.



He was a retired train dispatcher for the Chicago North Western.



Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Folkers of Des Moines;

one son, Phillip Folkers of Des Moines; one daughter, Ann Korczyk

of Dubuque; and two grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents.
