Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in Amsterdam Township Cemetery, Kanawha.



Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral

Donald Lee Wickline was born June 6, 1913, in Boone.



Survivors include two nieces, Katherine Pyle of Kanawha, and

Ruby Mickelson of Des  Moines; one nephew, Gerald Kastler of

El Paso, Texas; and one stepbrother, Jim Bray of Webster City.



He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters and

one brother.

at Franklin General Hospital.

Helen C. McDowell was born July 15, 1899, in Hampton.



Survivors include three nieces, Joan Paine of Hampton, Shirley

From of Des Moines, and Alice Jannsen of Ames; and two nephews,

Bob McDowell of Hampton, and Milton McDowell of LeGrand, Calif.



She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and

five sisters.

Velma Oleson, 73, of 1104 19th Ave., died Wednesday (Jan. 3,

1996) in Pasadena, Calif.



Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Trinity United

Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Bissett and the Rev. Deb

Lincoln officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens.



Visitation  was held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday at Hauser Funeral

Home,  1205 S. Main St., and will continue from 9 a.m. until

noon today and an hour prior to services at the church.



Velma Ino Oleson was born Nov. 23, 1922, at New Hampton.



Survivors include her husband, Robert, of Charles City; one

son, Don Oleson of Pasadena, Calif.; one daughter, Sandra Head

of Alta Vista; two brothers, Johnnie Beck of Nashua, and Don

Beck of Moline, Ill.; three sisters, Beth Bahlmann of Charles

City, Lois Eckenrod of Rudd, and June Franzen of Nashua; six

grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Asuncion M. Monteon, 85, of 526 14th St. N.W., died Wednesday

(Jan. 3, 1996) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.

Church, 714 N. Adams Ave., with the Rev. John R. Kremer officiating.

Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.



Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday at Fullerton Patterson

James Funeral Chapel, 123 Second St. S.E,. with a 7 p.m. parish

wake service.



She was born Aug. 10, 1910, at Irapuato Juanajuato, Mexico.



Survivors include two daughters, Celia Huyett of Jackson, Mich.,

and Ernestina Kiger of Mason City; two sons, Michael Monteono

of San Diego, Calif., and Richard Monteon of Des moines; 10 

grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one son.

Mary A. Luloff, 98, of Waverly, formerly of Independence, 

died Wednesday (Jan. 3, 1996) at Bartels Lutheran Home in Waverly.



Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Immanuel

Lutheran Church, Independence, with the Rev. Dale Halverson officiating.

Burial will be in Zion Lutheran-Jubilee Cemetery in rural LaPorte

City.



Music will be provided by Mrs. Lawrence Wessels, organist, and

Mrs. Daryl Johnson Jr., vocalist.



Casket Bearers will be Jeff Macon, Stanley Gritzner, Monty

Gritzner, Raymond Vesper, Ross Schreuder, Dennis Borchardt and

John L. Albrecht.



Friends may call at 7 p.m. today, and anytime on Sunday at the

White Funeral Home, 400 First St. West, Independence.



Mary A. Luloff was born on April 12, 1897, in Black Hawk County, 

Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Mary Kujadt Bonorden.



She received her education in the country schools.



On Oct. 16, 1919, she and Herbert H. Luloff were united in marriage

in Denver, Iowa. They farmed in Buchanan County until retiring.

He preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 1968.



Mrs. Luloff was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in

Independence. She was an active member of the quilters group

at the church.



Mrs. Luloff is survived by one son, Everett Luloff of Jesup;

one daughter, LaVonne (Mrs. John) Albrecht of Rockford; 11 

grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-

grandchildren.



In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her

parents; one granddaughter; one nephew; one brother, Henry Bonorden;

and one sister, Emma Bonorden.

Mary Ann Daleske, 57, of 208 Meadow Lane, died Thursday (Jan.

4, 1996) at her home.



A funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph

Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., with the Rev. James E. Hayes

and the Rev. Louis Greving officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St.

Joseph Cemetery.



Visitation will begin after 3 p.m. Sunday at Hogan-Bremer Colonial

Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with a Chaplet of Divine Mercy prayer

service at 3 p.m. a Knights of Columbus rosary at 5 p.m. and

a Scriptural prayer service at 7 p.m.



Mary Ann Daleske was born Jan. 26, 1938, in Mason City, daughter

of Leonard and Elizabeth (Mannens) Haijsman.



She married Lorenz Daleske on Sept. 7, 1957, at St. Joseph

Catholic Church, Mason City.



Mary Ann grew up in Mason City and graduated from Mason City

High School in 1956.



She attended St. Mary's School of Nursing in Rochester, Minn.

She obtained an Associate of Arts in nursing at NIACC, a Bachelor

of Arts at Minnesota Metropolitan State University, a Bachelor

of Science in Nursing at the University of Dubuque, a Masters

of Science in education at Iowa State University and a Masters

of Science in nursing at the University of Dubuque. She had completed

course work for her doctorate at Iowa State University.



For many years she worked as a nurse and then taught in the

Associate Degree Nursing program at NIACC for 17 years until

retiring in 1988.



She then was active in Floyd and Leonard Auto Electric and continued

to evaluate nurses aides for NIACC.



Mary Ann loved to travel and enjoyed weaving and playing the

piano.



She volunteered at Hospice, Americana Nursing Home and North

Iowa Mercy Health Center.



She was a member of the Weavers Guild, St. Joseph Catholic

Church, and she was active in Marian prayer groups.



Survivors include her husband, Lorenz Daleske of Mason City;

three daughters, Julie Thomas and her husband, Robert, of Marshalltown;

Nancy Abbas and her husband, Tom, of Plymouth, and Sue Kent and

her husband, Ed, of Billings, Mont.; and nine grandchildren,

R.C. and Heather Thomas, both of Marshalltown; Alexandra, Mark

and Paige Abbas, all of Plymouth, and Joe, John, Katie and Will

Kent, all of Billings, Mont.



She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Betty

Haijsman; and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Abbas.

Joseph `Joe' Oleson

NORTHWOOD  



Joseph ``Joe'' Oleson, 97, of Northwood, died Wednesday (Jan.

3, 1996) at the Lutheran Retirement Home.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at the Conner

Colonial Chapel, 99 11th St. South, with the Rev. Dennis Nicholson

of the United Methodist Church officiating.  Burial will be in

the Sunset Rest Cemetery.



Visitation was held from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and further visitation

will be one hour prior to service time today at the chapel.



Joseph ``Joe'' Oleson was born on Sept. 8, 1898, in Northwood,

the son of John Arnold and Annie Marie (Jacobson) Oleson.  He

attended and received his education in the Northwood school system,

graduating from Northwood High School.  He also attended Hamilton

Business College in Mason City, where he met and fell in love

with Lucy Tabb, and they were united in marriage on Feb. 16,

1922, in Mason City. They would have celebrated their 74th year

of marriage.  After their marriage, he worked for the railroad

until 1929.  During the depression years he worked at many jobs

so he could provide for his family.  In 1938, he began working

for the Northwood Schools as a custodian, and continued to work

for them for 38 years until his retirement.  He always enjoyed

the kids who attended school.  In high school he played basketball

and it would forever be his favorite sport, although he enjoyed

the others.



He enjoyed gardening, especially raising strawberries and sweet

peas, walking, and woodworking, where he loved making things

for his grandchildren.



He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Northwood

and was an honorary member of the FFA in Northwood.



Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Lucy Oleson of the Lutheran

Retirement Home, Northwood; one son, James A. Oleson of Clear

Lake; one daughter, Shirley Groff of Austin, Minn.; two grandchildren,

Janet Westendorf and her husband, John, of Austin, Minn., and

Thomas Groff and his wife, Cindy,, of Conger, Minn.; two great-

grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jimmy Westendorf of Austin, Minn.; as 

well as many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.



He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; two

sisters; one daughter-in-law; and one son-in-law, James Groff.

Deloris Christine Haugen, 57, of Clear Lake, died Thursday

(Jan. 4, 1996) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason

City.



Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the Christian

Church in Clear Lake, with the Rev. Larry Squier officiating.

Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.



Friends may call from 3 until 8 p.m. Sunday at the Ward-Van

Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth Street, Clear Lake, and

one hour prior to service time on Monday at the church.



Deloris Christine Haugen was born on Jan. 23, 1938, the daughter

of Wallie and Ruth Idelle (Garlock) Haugen in rural Clear Lake

in Cerro Gordo County.



She attended and received her education in the Clear Lake School

system graduating from Clear Lake High School in 1956.



She lived and worked throughout her life in Clear Lake, working

for Easter Super Value Grocery store and mostly recently until

her death for Bonded Plumbing.



She enjoyed bowling, knitting, and her dogs and was a loving

and caring mother and sister.



She was a member of the Christian Church in Clear Lake.



She is survived by a son, Anthony Haugen of Clear Lake; three

brothers, DuWayne Haugen and his wife, Cleta of Clear Lake, Keith

Haugen and his wife, Cathy of Clear Lake, and Myron Haugen and

his wife, Pat of Clear Lake as well as other relatives and friends.

Services for Aaron Tackett, 17, formerly of Garner, will be

Burial will be in Concord Township Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cataldo

Funeral Chapel, Garner.



Aaron died Friday (Jan. 5, 1996) due to an accidental death.



Aaron Lamson Tackett, the son of Terry Tackett and Linda (Dempster)

Howard was born Oct. 11, 1978 in Mason City.  He attended school

in Garner and Hobbs, N.M.  In 1992 he returned to Garner where

he attended Garner-Hayfield Community Schools.  In March of 1995,

he moved to Nashville, Tenn. where he worked for a food service

company.  Aaron enjoyed fishing and golfing.



He was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Garner.



He is survived by his mother, Linda Howard and her husband,

Robert, of Nashville, Tenn.; his father, Terry Tackett of Garner;

a brother, Eric Tackett of Garner; one sister, Tara Tackett of

Austin, Minn.; one half-sister, Cherise Whitbeck of Las Vegas,

Nev.; and a niece, Louren Tackett of Austin, Minn.



He was preceded in death by both maternal and paternal grandparents.

Capitola `Cap' Strayer was born Aug. 13, 1909 in Algona.



Survivors include one son, Sheridan `Dan' Strayer of Houston,

Texas; one daughter, Sharron Rule of Clear Lake; seven grandchildren;

one step-grandchild; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert

Gould of Jacobson, Minn.; one sister, Chris Girardin of Storm

Lake.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother,

and two sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son,

Vaske of Bancroft, Betty Berte and Norma Reding, both of St.

Joe, Marge Brcka of Forest City, Joyce Wagner of Torrance, Calif.,

Jane Potthoff of Algona; five sons, Frank Becker of Chetek, Wis.,

Alvin Becker and Bob Becker, both of Wesley, Harold Becker of

Algona, and Mark Becker of Stuart; 79 grandchildren; 117 great-

grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, 

Hilaria Erpelding and Rosalia Illg, both of Algona.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers,

five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Asuncion was born on Aug. 10, 1910 at Irapuato Juanajuato, Mexico,

the daughter of Carlos and Elena (Zamaripa) Rodriguez.  She is

a Mason City High School graduate and was employed at J.B. Deckers

and the Armour plant for 35 years.  She was united in marriage

to Sando Monteon at Holy Family Catholic Church where she remained

a member.  She enjoyed making crocheted and sewed items for her

family until her health declined.



Survivors include two daughters, Celia Huyett of Jackson, Mich.,

Mrs. Roger (Ernestina) Kiger of Mason City; two sons, Michael

Monteon of San Diego, Calif., and Richard Monteon of Des Moines;

10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991; her parents;

and her 3-year-old son, Cornelio.

and Loren Letcher of Minneapolis, Minn.; two sisters, Jennie

McCameron of West Des Moines, and Marie Read of Russelville,

Ark.; one brother, Bernard Klaver of Webster City; 38 grandchildren;

71 plus great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter and one

son.

Union Cemetery, Livermore.

Home, Algona, and will continue after 9 a.m. at the church on

Wednesday.



Nellie Riley was born July 6, 1910 in Livermore.



Survivors include one daughter, Vivian Petersen of Algona; one

son, Kenneth Riley of Algona; one sister, Sarah Funk of Algona;

Fannie M. Frank was born March 11, 1911 in Ocheyedan, the daughter

Minn.  She was united in marriage to Gordon Lee on April 15,

1930 in Des Moines.  They moved to Mason City in 1931 where she

lived until moving to Nora Springs.  In 1993 she moved to the

Chautauqua Home in Charles City.  Following her husband's passing

in 1939, Mrs. Frank was employed in the processing department

of Armour, until retiring in 1973.



Fannie's family includes her surviving son, Kenneth J. Lee of

Mason City; a deceased daughter, Shirley Nichols, who died in

1977; two sisters, Doris Davis of Mason City, and Alice Fullerton

of Hawthorne, Calif.; and one brother, Richard Ebbenga of Butterfield,

Minn.



She was also preceded in death by her husband Gordon in 1939;

husband Dominic Frank; and her parents.

Marian was born Feb. 10, 1926 at Badger, the only child of Alfred

and Selma (Johnson) Johnson.  She attended rural school in Webster

County.  She was united in marriage to Herman Pruisman on March

22, 1950 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.  To this union

were born three daughters and one son.  Marian had a very special

job as a school bus driver for the Rockwell-Swaledale School

system.  For 15 years she transported Special Education students

to Mason City and Clear Lake.  She lived in Rockwell until 1990

when she moved to Mason City, and returned to Rockwell in 1994.

She was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church and also the

church circles there.



Marian will be sadly missed by her surviving children, Joyce

Elaine Flynn of Rockwell, Mrs. Kevin (Janet Marie) Hoftiezer

of Clear Lake, Richard and his wife, Effie Pruisman of Palo;

three grandchildren, Letae Pruisman, Christina and Megan Flynn;

and a great-grandson, Deric Stutzman; three step-grandchildren;

and seven step-great-grandchildren.



Marian will once again be reunited with her husband, Herman,

who died in 1984; her parents; and her stillborn daughter, Betty

Lou, in 1960.

daughter of Ernest R. and Margaret (Butler) Carr.  She married

Roy O. Youngerman on March 18, 1947 at Fort Worth, Texas.



Genevieve was a 1929 graduate of Clear Lake High School and

also Hamilton Business College, Mason City.  She worked as a

secretary at Northwestern States Portland Cement Company, Mason

City, from 1932 to 1947.  After their marriage, she and her husband

made their home at Eldora where they owned a hardware store.

In 1954 they returned to Fertile where they farmed Genevieve's

family's farm.  Later, she worked at NIACC from 1961 until retiring

in 1974.  In 1979 she moved to Clear Lake.



Genevieve enjoyed collecting dishes, growing flowers, especially

roses, and maintaining her yard.



She was a member of the Christian Church, Mother's Study Club,

and Rebekah Lodge, all of Clear Lake.



Survivors include two brothers, Claire Carr and his wife, Emma

of Bradenton, Fla., Veryl Carr and his wife, Shirley of Clear

Lake; three nieces, Lynne Warnock of Eden Prairie, Minn., Donna

Carr of Clear Lake, and Diane Hove of Eagan, Minn.; two nephews,

Robert Carr of Clear Lake, and Ron Carr of Chicago, Ill.; seven

grand-nieces and nephews; three great-grand-nieces and nephews.

To that union were born seven children: Alberta (Jerry) Montag

of Rockford, Joseph of Marble Rock, Lawrence Eugene who died

at birth, Nicholas of Bloomington, Minn., Paul of Clear Lake,

Mary of Fort Dodge, and Barbara Bass of Mason City.



She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one son.



Marie is survived by six children; 21 grandchildren; and 23

great-grandchildren.



She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church for 69 years,

the Altar and Rosary Society, St. Theresa's Circle, a delegate

for the National Council for Congregate Meals for 10 years, a

former member of the Rockford American Legion Auxiliary, and

a member of the Rockford Manor Board.



Friends may call at the Holy Name Catholic Church from 2:30

until 9 p.m. today.

``Speed'' married Eileen Field on June 1, 1941, in Albert Lea,

Minn.



He was a mail carrier for 33 years in Mason City, retiring in

1977.



``Speed'' was a longtime member and usher  at Trinity Lutheran

Church and a member of the N.A.R.F.E.



He knew Jesus Christ as his personal saviour.



Survivors include his wife, Eileen, of Mason City; daughters,

Cheryl Smith and her husband, Darwin, of Clinton, and Karen McKenzy

of Golden Valley, Minn.; four grandchildren, Dana Smith and his

wife, Debbie; Tonya Smith, Darren Smith and April McKenzy; two

On Dec. 3, 1966, Betty married Elvin ``Snooks'' Bohl. Mr. Bohl

died in 1989.



Betty was a longtime resident of Mason City and worked for the

Mason City School District in the cafeteria for a short period

of time. She also worked as a housekeeper.



In 1990, Betty moved to White Bear Lake, Minn., to be near her

daughter and family.



Betty had a longtime affiliation with  Trinity Lutheran Church

and Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.



She was a member of the VFW Auxillary and Ladies of the Moose.



Betty was a loving mother, grandmother and  great-grandmother.



Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Underwood and her husband,

Michael, of White Bear Lake, Minn.; sons, Rick Simon of Rockford

and Edward Simon and wife, Shelby, of Mason City; 13 grandchildren;

Leo Harold Gardner was born Jan. 5, 1914, in Manville.



Survivors include his wife, Lulu, of Algona; one son, Ronald

Gardner of Sacramento, Calif.; one daughter, Sharon Canaday of

Algona; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three

sisters, Opal Wegner of North Platte, Neb.; Ruby Kuhn of Cetesfield,

Neb., and Gladys Wilson of Cannon Falls, Minn.

Ann Leerar, 83, of Forest City, died Monday (Jan. 8, 1996) at

her home.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the

United Methodist Church, Crystal Lake, with the Rev. Kenneth

Suetterlin officiating.  Burial will be in Crystal Township Cemetery,

Crystal Lake.



Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ewing Funeral

Chapel, Britt.



Ann Leerar was born Oct. 6, 1912, near Kanawha in Wright County.



Survivors include her husband, William ``Bill'' Leerar; one

daughter, Kathryn Crotty of Wauwatesa, Wis.; three sons, Raymond

Leerar of Alsip, Ill.; Marvin Leerar of Clifton, Va., and Roger

Leerar of Britt; one sister, Della Davids of Iowa City; six brothers,

Bert Davids and John Davids, both of San Diego, Calif.; Donald

Davids of Elkhart, Ind.; William Davids of Belmond; Marienus

Davids of Spring Valley, Minn., and Robert Davids of Washington,

D.C.; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Thomas Fox officiating.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Funeral Home with a 7:30 p.m. parish prayer service and an 8:30

p.m. Knights of Columbus Rosary.



Charles B. Fox was born April 30, 1906, in Bancroft.



Survivors include three daughters, Mary Alice Campbell of Oro

Valley, Ariz.; Ruth Heyka of Belleville, Kan., and Nancy Perry

of Pepperell, Mass.; three sons, Ken Fox of St. Paul, Minn.;

Tom Fox of San Antonio, Texas, and Greg Fox of Des Moines; 11

grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Helen

Osmus of California.



He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sons, two

at Kossuth Regional Health Center.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Cecelia's

Catholic Church, Algona, with the Rev. Gerald Feierfeil officiating.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.



Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. today at the Wilson Funeral

Home and continue after 9 a.m. Thursday with a 3 p.m. Guild rosary

and a 7:30 p.m. Scripture reading. There will be a family prayer

service at 10 a.m. Friday.



Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society in his

memory.



Mark W. Foertsch was born July 30, 1958, in Algona.



Survivors include his wife, Nancy,  of Algona; one daughter,

Sadie at home; one son, Nicholas at home; his parents, Edward

and Agnes Foertsch of Algona; maternal grandmother, Martha Hellman

of Bancroft;   four sisters, Janet Johnson of Burt; Judy Rahe

of New Ulm, Minn.; Joyce Ulrich of Delta, Colo., and Jean Koester

of Ankeny; and five brothers, Dan of Algona; Philip and Pat,

both of Burt; Dale of Swea City, and Alan of Des Moines.



He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and his

Janis G. Krieger, 59, of 817 Second St. S.E., died Monday (Jan.

8, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.



Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hogan-Bremer

Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with the Rev. Daird Korth

of Messiah Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood

St. Joseph Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 4 to 7:30 p.m. today and until

time of services on Thursday at the funeral chapel.



Janis G. Krieger was born Feb. 1, 1936, in Mason City, daughter

of Keith Charles and Ethel Loretta (Lund) Frantz.



She married Richard J. Krieger on Nov. 25,  1959, in Long Beach,

Calif.



Janis grew up in Mason City and graduated from Mason City High

School in 1954.



She was an avid collector of dolls, teddy bears and miniatures.

She enjoyed music and playing the violin.



Janis was an active volunteer at Mercy Hospital.



She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and the River City

Doll Club.



Survivors include her husband, Richard Krieger of Mason City;

two daughters, Kathleen Elliff and her companion, Dennis Francis

of Mason City; and Barbara Fortman and her husband, Dr. Gene

Fortman of Rochester, Minn.; four grandchildren, Erica and Alexandra

Elliff and Gabrielle Francis, all of Mason City; and Emily Fortman

of Rochester, Minn.; one sister, Sheryl Burleson of Chicago,

Ill.; one brother, Thomas Frantz of Bryan, Texas; her mother-in-law,

Leone Krieger of Maosn City; and two sisters-in-law, Karen Pakovic

of Sanford, Fla., and Diane LaVine of Uba City, Calif.

at her daughter's home in Waterloo.

Harmina Ostendorf was born Feb. 6, 1915, in Butler County.



Survivors include one daughter, Harriet Granzow of Waterloo;

six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son,

Juan L. Hernandez, 44, of Britt, died Monday (Jan. 8, 1996)

at University Hospitals in Iowa City.



Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Church

of The Nazarene, Britt, with the Rev. Mitchell Sanderson officiating.

Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.



Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. at Ewing Funeral Chapel,

Britt, and one hour prior to services at the church.



Juan, the son of Manuel and Oralia Munoz Hernandez, was born

Dec. 18, 1951, in Kingsville, Texas.



Juan lived most of his teen-age years in Laureles Ranch, where

he was a cowboy, working along side his father, who taught him

all there is to know about horses, which later made him a pro.



In 1968, the family moved to Kingsville, where he met and married

his wife, Juanita Medrano on Sept. 21, 1968. To this union, one

son was born, Jose.



In 1973, they moved to Iowa, and ever since then Iowa has been

their home. Juan worked for IMT for almost seven years.



Juan is survived by his wife, Juanita; his son, Jose, of Britt;

his granddaughter, Cassandra Ann ``Cassie;'' seven brothers,

Ruben Hernandez of Kingsville, Texas; Lupe Hernandez of Kingsville,

Texas; Robert Hernandez of Britt; Joe Hernandez of Mason City;

Oscar Hernandez of Kingsville, Texas; Andy Hernandez of Kingsville,

Texas; and Juan Rene Hernandez  of Kanawha; four sisters, Manuela

Esquivel and her husband,  Armando, of Reedspring, Mo.; Dora

Quintanilla and her husband, Isareal, of Britt; Minnie Mendoza

and her husband, Able, of Kanawha; and Margarita Hernandez of

Kanawha; and several nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Florence L. ``Flossy'' Carter, 69, of Brooklyn Center, died

Sunday (Jan. 7, 1996) at the Methodist Hospital, St. Louis Park.



Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the First

United Methodist Church, Clarion, Iowa.  Burial will be in Evergreen

Cemetery, Clarion, Iowa.



Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Willim Funeral Home, Clarion, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.



Florence L. ``Flossy'' Carter was born Sept. 13, 1926, in Clear

Lake, Iowa, to Mell and Iva May (Hill) VerHelst.  She was raised

and was educated at Swaledale, Iowa, graduating from Swaledale

High School.  She married Arthur Carter in 1948 and they made

their home in Webster City, Iowa.  He died in 1963.  After he

died, she moved to Minneapolis, and in 1966 she married Richard

Carter and had made her home there ever since.



Survivors include her husband, Richard; one daughter, Diana

Ellis and her husband, David, of Brooklyn Center; one son, Michael

and his wife, Kathy, of Brooklyn Center; one sister, Gail Langletz

of Goodell, Iowa; four brothers, Lester VerHelst of West Liberty,

Iowa; Leland VerHelst of Otley, Iowa; Russell VerHelst of Klemme,

Iowa, and Kenneth VerHelst of Kanawha, Iowa; and five grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, first

husband, six brothers and two sisters.

Elmo Lucy Pike

NORTHWOOD 



Elmo Lucy Pike, 76, of Northwood, died Monday (Jan. 8, 1996)

at her home.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Conner

Colonial Chapel, 99 11th St. South, with the Rev. Mark Bents

of First Lutheran Church officiating.  Burial will be in the

First Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar.



Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home,

and one hour prior to services on Friday.



Elmo Lucy Pike was born on March 27, 1919, in Mitchell County

near Carpenter, the daughter of Walter and Isabelle (Kvale) Pike.

She was baptized and affirmed the faith of her baptism through

confirmation in the Lutheran faith by the Rev. Langehough at

Deer Creek Lutheran Church, rural Carpenter.  She attended and

received her education in the Otranto High School in 1938.  After

completing her formal education she worked as a telephone operator

in Lyle, Minn., for many years.  She also took care of her parents

for many years.  After her parents died she began working in

the kitchen at the Viking Restaurant in Northwood, working there

for 15 years before her retirement.



She enjoyed reading books, flowers, traveling and children.



She was a member of First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar and

an active member of the Senior Citizens Center in Northwood.



She is survived by four sisters, Alice J. Olson of Northwood;

Dorothy Naber of Mason City; Truly Hansen and Thelma DeLaney,

both of Austin, Minn.; one brother, Harold Pike of Mason City;

two sisters-in-law, Gwendolyn Pike of St. Ansgar, and Marvalene

``Babe'' Pike of Northwood; many nieces and nephews; many grand-

nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and friends.



She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Lucy Pike;

three brothers, Archie, Guy and Roy Pike; and a special friend,

LeRoy Anderson.

8, 1996) at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Trinity

Lutheran Church with the Rev. Kenneth Hatland of Trinity Lutheran

Church, and the Rev. Randy Nielsen, chaplain, Good Shepherd Nursing

Home, officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today and until noon

Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania

Ave., and will continue one hour prior to services at the church

on Thursday.



The family suggests memorials be given to the Jeanne S. Huffman

Memorial Fund.



Jeanne S. Huffman was born May 3, 1906, the daughter of Sivert

and Bertha (Aatigen) Johnson at Lake Wilson, Minn.  Jeanne attended

and graduated from Slayton High School in Slayton, Minn., in

1924.  Jeanne then moved to Mason City where she attended Hamilton

Business College for two years.  She worked for Holsum Bread

Company for 14 years.  Jeanne was married to Everett A. Huffman

on May 3, 1929, in Nashua at the Little Brown Church.



She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.



Survivors include one son, Marshall J. Huffman of Mason City;

three sisters, Anna Walter of Mason City; Phyliss Casper of Pipestone,

Minn., and Marcie Casper and her husband, Don, of Scottsdale,

Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1964;

three brothers; and three sisters.
