Joseph H. Kemna
BANCROFT 

      Joe Kemna, 71, died Saturday (July 1, 1995) at Kossuth County 
Hospital, Algona.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. 
Wednesday at St. John Catholic Church with the Rev. John Thomas 
officiating.  Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery with a
graveside  military service.  Visitation will be held from 2:30 to
9 p.m.  Tuesday at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, with
a  rosary at 3 p.m., a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m., and a 
K. of C. rosary at 8:30 p.m.

Joseph H. Kemna was born Sept. 17, 1923 in West Bend.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Kemna of Bancroft; four 
daughters, Linda Koritza of Denver, Colo., Sandy Williams of  South
Sioux City, Neb., Brenda Mickow of Rochester, Minn., and  Carol
Fenton of Des Moines; one son, Ken Kemna of Bancroft;  four
sisters, Rosemary Dudding, Alvina Delperdang and Joanne Kemna,  all
of Bancroft, and Irene Rosenstiel of Corwith; four brothers, 
Lawrence Kemna of Bancroft, Leo Kemna of Lebanon, Ind., 
Harold Kemna of Ft. Scott, Kan., and John Kemna of Sioux Falls,
S.D.;  and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one
sister.

Michael Mead Mitchell
MASON CITY 

      Michael Mead Mitchell, 51, of 1524 Meadowbrook Drive, died 
Monday (July 3, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East. 
Funeral  services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Sheckler
Colonial Chapel,  114 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, with the Rev.
Verlin Akers officiating.  Interment will be 3 p.m. Thursday in
Davis City Cemetery, Davis City. Visitation will be held from 4:30
to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral  chapel.

Michael was born Aug. 21, 1943, at Baldwin, a son of 
John F. Mitchell and Lillian J. (nee) Wosoba Mitchell.   

He married Phyllis Jean Mitchell on June 4, 1966, at Omaha, Neb.
Michael was a 1961 graduate of Monmouth High School, Monmouth.  He
served in the United States Air Force from 1964-1968 during  the
Vietnam War.  He was employed by the former Northwestern  Bell
Telephone Company, later U.S. West Communications, working  in
Cedar Rapids from 1968-76, Des Moines from 1976-78 and  Mason City
from 1978 to the present.  He enjoyed collecting antiques. An
active member of Telephone Pioneers of America, Michael held a 
number of offices, and provided service to voice reading for the 
blind. He was actively involved with scouting in the Des Moines 
area, and youth sports in the Mason City area.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Mitchell, of Mason City; one son, 
Scott Mitchell, Mason City; one daughter, Linda Mitchell,  Mason
City; two brothers, Donald Mitchell of Port Byron, Ill.,  and Ross
Mitchell of Sergeant Bluff; and one sister, 
Joan Polfliet of Rapid City, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

June Johnson
RICEVILLE 

      June Johnson, 76, died Friday (June 30, 1995) at Mitchell 
County Memorial Hospital, Osage.  Funeral services will be held  at
11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Congregational United Church  of
Christ with the Rev. Robert Fegan officiating.  Burial will  be in
the First Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar.  Visitation will  be held
from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Lindstrom Funeral Home. 
June Johnson was born June 11, 1919 in Minneapolis, Minn.

Survivors include one son, Gary Milton Johnson of Scottsdale, 
Ariz.; one daughter, Cheryl Hildreth of Arroyo Grande, Calif.; 
five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters,  Dawn
Taylor and Marie Cole, both of Charles City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one son.

Emma J. Holcomb
BANCROFT 

      Emma J. Holcomb, 98, of Bancroft, died Monday (July 3, 1995) 
at the Heritage Home Care Center, Bancroft.   Funeral services will 
be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Swea City, 
with the Rev. Robert Kobler officiating. Burial will be in Harrison 
Township Cemetery, Swea City.  Visitation will be from 9:30 until 
time of services today at the church.  

Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Homes Inc., Estherville, is in charge
of  arrangements.

Emma J. Holcomb was born Aug. 5, 1896, in Walnut Grove, Minn. 
Survivors include one stepdaughter, Myrtle Larsen of Swea City; 
four stepsons, Martin Holcomb of Baltimore, Md.; Reuben Holcomb  of
Swea City; Gordon Holcomb of St. Louis, Mo., and Roger Holcomb  of
Mason City; 21 stepgrandchildren; 39 stepgreat-grandchildren;  and
13 stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister,  six
brothers, one stepdaughter, one granddaughter and two 
great-great-grandchildren.

SHEFFIELD 

     Louis S. Kammrad, 70, of Sheffield, died Thursday (June 29,
1995)  at home.  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday
at the  Grarup Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Hollingsworth of
the First  Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the
Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday
at Grarup Funeral Home. 
Louis S. Kammrad was born Sept. 10, 1924, in Franklin County. 
Survivors include one daughter, Darla Robbons of Wildwood, Ill.; 
two sons, Darrel Kammrad and Steve Kammrad, both of Sheffield;  two
grandchildren; and three brothers, Gordon Kammrad of Sheffield; 
George Kammrad of Omaha, Ark., and David Kammrad  of Saugus, Calif. 
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and one sister.

Esther Boelman
Esther Boelman (nee) Pals
BELMOND 

     Esther Boelman, 79, died Monday (July 3, 1995) at the Belmond 
Community Hospital.  A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. 
Thursday at Bethany Reformed Church, with the Rev. Melvin Voss 
officiating. Interment will be in the Immanuel Reformed Cemetery, 
Belmond.  Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Ewing 
Funeral Home.

Esther Boelman was born Dec. 6, 1915, in Franklin County near 
Alexander.

Survivors include two sons, Arlynn Boelman of Norfolk, Neb., and 
James Boelman of Manson; one brother, Ed Pals of Alexander;  two
sisters, Allie Pastour and Minnie Mennenga, both of Belmond;  three
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son,  four
brothers and four sisters.

Ethel L. Jensvold
BUFFALO CENTER 

     Ethel L. Jensvold, 86, of Buffalo Center, died Monday  (July
3, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bethlehem 
Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Gerald Dyste officiating.  Burial 
will be in Graceland Cemetery.   Visitation will be from 4 to 8
p.m.  today at Winter Funeral Home and one hour before services at
the  church.

Ethel L. Jensvold was born May 7, 1909, in Rake.

Survivors include five sons, S. Byrant Jensvold of Rochester, 
Minn.; George Jensvold of Onamia, Minn.; Bill Jensvold of  Buffalo
Center; Marcus Jensvold of Houston, Texas, and Dick Jensvold  of
Buffalo Center; 11 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren;  eight
great-grandchildren; one brother, Martin Nesheim of Duluth,  Minn.;
and three sisters, Ione Jones of Lime Springs; 
Della Underdahl of Fairmont, Minn., and Cora Heath of Rake. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers 
and three sisters.

Robert D. Wearda
HAMPTON 

     Robert D. Wearda, 75, of Hampton, died Tuesday (July 4, 1995) 
at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Des Moines.   Funeral 
services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Chapin United 
Methodist Church, Chapin, with the Rev. Robert Beard officiating. 
Burial will be in  Hampton Cemetery.   Visitation will be from  4
to 8 p.m. today at Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home.

Robert D. Wearda was born Dec. 6, 1919, in rural Sheffield. 
Survivors include one son, Charles Wearda of rural Sheffield;  one
daughter, Catherine Leong of Alameda, Calif.; one sister,  Ann
Oehlert of Clear Lake; one brother, Richard Wearda of Hampton;  and
two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, eight brothers  and
four sisters.

Esther M. Cook
Esther M. Cook (nee) Mead
MASON CITY 
      Esther M. Cook, 98, of Mason City, died Sunday (July 2, 1995) 
at the Americana Healthcare Center.   Funeral services will be 
held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church, with 
the Rev. Raymond A. Burkle officiating, assisted by Deacon  Charles
Cooper. Burial will be in the Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Hogan-Bremer 
Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with a 7 p.m. Scriptural 
service followed immediately by a rosary.   The family requests 
that memorials be given to the Esther M. Cook Memorial Fund in 
lieu of flowers.

Esther M. Cook, daughter of Arthur J. Mead and 
Catherine (nee) Farrell Mead, was born on Jan. 17, 1897, 
at Paw Paw, Ill.  She was married to Louis James Cook on 
Oct. 13, 1920, at Oshkosh, Wis.

At an early age, Esther's family moved to Thornton,  where she 
attended school before graduating from Mason City High School  in
1914. She attended Hamilton Business College and was employed  at
Ideal Laundry where she later worked as office manager until  her
retirement in 1948.
 
In 1950, Esther was employed as an office deputy sheriff for  Cerro
Gordo County where she worked until 1972. Due to her  health, she
has resided at Americana Healthcare Center for the  past 21 years. 
Esther was a member of Holy Family Catholic  Church and the
Grandmother's Club. She enjoyed Clear Lake where  she owned a
summer cottage for 40 years.

She is survived by a daughter, Ruth M. Cooper, Mason City;  a son,
Mead J. Cook and his wife, Val, of Omaha, Neb.; two sisters, 
Kathryn Eggert of Dearfield, Ill., and Ruth Paulson, Lakeland,
Fla.;  seven grandchildren, Charles E. Cooper and his wife,
Jennifer;  Mary R. Harms and her husband, Don, of Mason City; 
Robert Michael Cooper and his wife, Rose, of Milwaukee, Wis.; 
Catherine S. Gilmore and her husband, Mike, of St. Louis, Mo.; 
Lisa Reuvers and her husband, Mark, of Faribault, Minn.; Shari Volz 
and her husband, Duane, of Malverne; and Scott Cook of Lincoln,
Neb.  Esther is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one 
sister, Ruby Woods.

Russell W. Clarke
MASON CITY 

Russell W. Clarke, 82, of 736 17th St. N.E., died Sunday (July 2,
1995)  at his home.  Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m.
Thursday at  First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Ave.,
with the  Rev. Merlin Ackerson officiating. The body was donated to
the  University of Iowa.  There will be no visitation. Major
Erickson  Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., is in charge of
arrangements. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist
Church in his memory. 
Russell W. Clarke was born Sept. 14, 1912, at Charles City, the 
son of William H. and Ellen M. (Haughey) Clarke.  He graduated 
from Charles City High School in 1930, Iowa State Teachers College 
(UNI) in 1936 and earned his master's degree from Drake 
University in 1952.  He coached and taught school in VanCleve, 
Green Mountain and Dysart,  before enlisting in the United States 
Army Air Corps and serving in India during World War II.

He married Lois R. Bragonier on June 5, 1938, in Cedar Falls,  and
moved to Mason City in the fall of 1946 to begin his career  with
the Mason City School system.  He started as a coach and  general
science teacher at Monroe Junior High School. During most  of the
1960s, he served first as assistant principal and then as 
principal of the high school.

As principal, he helped plan and design the present high school 
building and was principal the first year that the building was 
opened.  In 1967, he was named assistant superintendent and  served
in that capacity and as superintendent until his retirement  in
1978.  His many awards and achievements included the Bronze 
Medallion Award, the highest level award presented by the American 
Cancer Society for outstanding contributions to the progress of 
cancer control.   He was appointed by Gov. Robert Ray in 1981  to
a two year term as a member of the 15-member commission on  Mental
Health-Mental Retardation and Development Disabilities.  
He served with the following organizations: Mason City Retired 
Teachers Association, North Iowa Mental Health Center, American 
Cancer Society, First United Methodist Church, Kiwanis Club,  North
Iowa Planning Council, Phi Delta Kappa, Community Concert 
Association, American Field Service (Foreign Student Exchange), 
Hospice of North Iowa, KCMR, North Iowa Vocational Center,  North
Iowa Fair, Boy Scouts of America and the United Way. 
Survivors include his wife, Lois R. Clarke of Mason City; a 
daughter, Dr. Linda L. Clarke and husband, Jerry Haggin of 
Washington, D.C.; a daughter, Barbara E. Clarke Wornson and 
husband, Douglas, of Northfield, Minn.; a son, Russell H. Clarke 
and wife, Melissa A., of Cedar Falls; two sisters, Ruth Lodge of 
Floyd, and Katherine Beery of Floyd; and seven grandchildren. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, 
Lucille Cross; and one son, William W. Clarke.

Dr. Kenneth Rhea Carrell
STANLEY, Wis. 

     Kenneth Rhea Carrell, 66, died June 30, 1995, at his home in 
Stanley.  A Celebration of Life was held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 3, 
at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stanley.  Memorials may be made 
to Our Savior's Lutheran Church or Victory Medical Center, Chapel
Fund. 
Kenneth Carrell was born Aug. 27, 1928, to Ethel Carrell and  Guy
Carrell in Phelps County, Mo. He attended school in Rolla, Mo., and 
graduated from Buchanan High School, Troy, Mo.  He attended
Westminster  College, Fulton, Mo. and received his B.A. from
Northeast Missouri  State University, Kirksville, Mo., and Doctor
of Osteopathy from  Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and
Surgery. 

Dr. Carrell interned at Davenport Osteopathic Hospital and served 
a surgery preceptorship under Murry L. McCreedy, M.D. at Washington 
County Hospital, Washington, Iowa. He practiced medicine in 
Columbus Junction, Iowa, from 1960-1980 and with the Marshfield 
Clinic-Stanley Center from 1980 until his retirement in 1993.   
While in Iowa he was a member of the Iowa Society of Osteopathic 
Physicians and Surgeons, serving as president in 1971-1972 and 
Speaker of the House 1976-1980. He was a member of the Iowa  State
Board of Medical Examiners, Chairman of the Governor's  Select
Committee on Utilization of Physicians' Assistants,  Physician's
Adviser Hospital Professional Standards Review  Organization,
Medical Examiner for Louisa County 1961-1980, and  served as Chief
of Staff for Washington County Hospital 1972-1976.   
He was a preceptor for Family Practice programs for University of 
Iowa, Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and Case-Western 
University.  He served as team physician for the Columbus Junction 
Wildcats and was awarded Iowa State Physician of the Year by the 
Iowa State High School Athletic Association in 1980.

Dr. Carrell was active in Boy Scouts of America, serving as 
commissioner and assistant scout master, receiving membership  in
the Order of the Arrow.  He was a member of Louisa County VFW  and
American Legion, Scottish Rite Mason Ï 32nd degree, and Shrine 
(Kaaba Temple) in Davenport, Iowa.  He was a member of Our Savior's 
Lutheran congregation serving as a Sunday School teacher and 
council member and was a member of the church choir.  He
participated  in the Community Players in Columbus Junction and
Stanley, enjoying  the ``character roles.''  He served in numerous
capacities at  Victory Medical Center and was chief of staff for
two terms. 
He was married to Donnarae Huey, July 4, 1951, at Clear Lake, Iowa 
and was father and grandfather to Tom, (Betsy), Andrea, 
Samuel, Hunter, and Parker of Wichita, Kan.; Aura Lea, 
Max, Alex and Audra of Birchwood, Wis.; Ted, (Cathy), Steven  and
Nick of Jacksonville, N.C.; Timothy/Sam, (Amy) of 
Marietta, Ga.; and Mary Elizabeth Morriss (David), John, 
and William of Boston, Mass.

He is also survived by a brother, Gerald (Pat) Carrell of  Walnut
Creek, Calif., and his mother, Ethel Carrell, St. James Mo.;  and
his dog, ``Ick.''   He was preceded in death by his brother, 
Lowell Carrell; sister, Mary Jane (nee) Carrell; and his father.

John L. French
NORA SPRINGS 

      John L. French, 84, of Nora Springs, died Saturday (July 1,
1995) at home.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m.
Thursday at  Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye St., with the
Rev.  Richard Pippert of the Nora Springs United Methodist Church 
officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, with military  honors
conducted by the American Legion Post #449 of Nora Springs. 
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Thursday until time of services 
at the chapel.

John L. French was born Feb. 14, 1911, in Nora Springs, the son  of
Winfield French and Hattie (nee) Quinby French.

He married Dorothy French on Oct. 16, 1937, at Mason City.  John 
graduated from Nora Springs High School in 1928 and attended Iowa 
State College. He worked at Northwestern States Portland Cement 
Company, Mason City, from 1937 until retirement in 1977, except 
from 1944 to 1946 when he served in the United States Army. 
He and his wife moved to Nora Springs in 1971. He devoted the last 
18 years taking care of his beloved wife, Dorothy, until she passed 
away on Sept. 25, 1994.  He was a member of the Nora Springs United 
Methodist Church.

Survivors include his twin brother, Joseph French of Victoria, 
British Columbia; one son, Robert French and his wife, Vicki,  of
Mason City; two daughters-in-law, Nicki French of Nora Springs, 
and Joyce Ennis of Mason City; seven grandchildren, 
Robbie and Elizabeth French, both of Mason City; Tammy Portis  of
Nora Springs; Angela Craighton of Clear Lake; Kerry Johnson  of
Rockford; and Chad and Heather French, both of Mason City;  and 11
great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy French; 
and two sons, Raymond and Richard French.

Nels Madsen Christensen
MASON CITY 

     Nels Madsen Christensen, 103, of 25 S. Crescent Drive, died 
Tuesday (July 3, 1995) at the Good Shepherd Health Center.  Funeral 
services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Church of the Open 
Bible, Iowa Falls, with the Rev. Randy Dickenson officiating. 
Burial  will be in Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls, with military honors
by the  Hyman Peavey American Legion Post #188 of Iowa Falls. 
Visitation  will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Linn's Funeral
Home,  1521 Washington Ave., Iowa Falls, with an 8 p.m. Independent 
Order of Odd Fellows Memorial service.  Memorials may be directed 
to the family, c/o Carol Alt, 341 S. Carolina Ave., Mason City, 
Iowa 50401.

Nels Madsen Christensen was born April 24, 1892, in Holsted,
Denmark. 
Survivors include three sons, Merle L. Christensen, of Pikeville, 
N.C.; Nels E. Christensen of Morgan Hill, Calif., and 
Marion F. Christensen of Fort Dodge; one daughter, Carol Alt  of
Mason City; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren;  and one
great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter, one grandson, 
parents, five sisters and four brothers.

Randy Davis Sr.
GARNER 

     Randy Davis Sr., 36, of Garner, died Tuesday (July 4, 1995) 
at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.  Funeral
services  will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist
Church, with  the Rev. Robert T. Ellis officiating. Burial will be
in Concord  Township Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m.
Thursday  at Cataldo Funeral Chapel.

Randy Davis Sr. was born June 3, 1959, at Algona.

Survivors include his children, Randy Davis Jr. of Garner;  Adam
Davis and Rachael Davis, both of Lake Mills; his parents,  Dan and
Arlene Davis of Garner; a brother, Dan Davis of Des Moines;  two
sisters, Julie Silber of Eau Claire, Wis., and Sandy Jackson  of
New Hampton; his maternal grandmother, Ina Ringler of 
Spirit Lake, and his paternal grandmother, Margaret Davis of  Shell
Rock.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister; his paternal 
grandfather; his maternal grandfather; and his great-grandmother.

     Inurnment services will be held Friday (July 7, 1995) at the 
Clear Lake Cemetery for Ruth M. Smith who died July 10, 1994, and 
her husband, Ralph Maxwell Smith, who died Feb. 13, 1995.  The Rev. 
Fred Lewis of the Clear Lake United Methodist Church will
officiate.

     Verle F. Elmore, 63, of Algona, died Wednesday (July 5, 1995) 
at his home in Algona.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m.

Philip J. Webb will officiate.  Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. 
Friday at the Geilenfeld-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home in Algona. 
Survivors include his wife, Marlene ``Tootie'' Elmore; 
a daughter, Kristy Dettman, Algona; two grandchildren; sisters, 
Mildred Boeckholt, Algona, and Ruth Barillos, Des Moines;  and two
brothers, Leo Elmore, LuVerne Elmore and twin brother,  Earl

John Siebert Henn
CLEAR LAKE 

     John Siebert Henn, 88, of 1909 First Ave. N., died Tuesday 
(July 4, 1995) at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Mason City. 
Funeral  services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 8,
1995, at  Immanuel Reformed Church, rural Belmond.  The Rev. Victor
Folkert  will officiate. Burial will be in Immanuel Reformed Church
Cemetery,  rural Belmond.  Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at
Ward-Van  Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake.
Visitation  will continue one hour before the service at the
church.  The family  suggests memorials  be made to the John S.
Henn Memorial Fund. 
John was born Nov. 8, 1907, on the family farm in rural Belmond, 
the son of Jacob and Grace Henn.  He attended rural school and 
then high school in Belmond.  He farmed in the Belmond area and 
raised fur-bearing animals.

He married Gladys Duregger on Sept. 8, 1932, in South Dakota.  John 
became an auctioneer in 1934 and, together with a partner, 
established the Belmond Sale Barn.  He later returned to full-time 
farming and breeding draft horses.  He retired in 1964 and moved to 
Clear Lake.  He continued his auctioneering profession in Clear
Lake. 
He was awarded first place in the craft and hobbies categories at 
the North Iowa Fair in 1988 for his miniature reproductions of 
harnesses and hitches.  He made over 100 sets of harness and
hitches. He enjoyed reading, studying farm technology, antiques,
many hours  of dancing at the White Pier to the Surf, good food,
visiting and  most of all, he enjoyed his family.  He volunteered
for a number  of organizations, including serving as a driver for
Opportunity Village. He was a member of Immanuel Reformed Lutheran
Church, rural Belmond. 
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Henn, a resident of the
Sheffield  Care Center; four children, Marcia Koester and her
husband,  Robert of Clear Lake; John Henn and his wife, Rejane of
Dubuque;  Richard Henn and his wife, Karen of Ankeny, and David
Henn and  his wife, Donna of Iowa City; a brother, William Henn and
his  wife, Gladys of Terrill;  a sister, Mrs. Tillie Meints of
Belmond;  12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers,  Elmer
Henn and Harley Henn.

     Patricia ``Pat'' J. Janka, 60, of 21226 Vine Ave., died 
Tuesday (July 4, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center.  Funeral 
services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Major Erickson Funeral 
Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Raymond A. Burkle of 
Holy Family Catholic Church officiating.  Burial will be in

Patricia ``Pat'' J. Janka was born July 24, 1934, in Mason City  to
Herbert and Genevieve (Miller) Williams.  Pat attended  Mason City
schools and then Mason City Junior College and  graduated as a
licensed practical nurse.  She worked for 
St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital and Good Shepherd Nursing Home. She
married Hubert Janka on Nov. 24, 1954, in Mason City.   
She enjoyed gardening, birds, nature and animals.   She was a
member  of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Hubert ``Hub'' Janka, Mason City; 
two sons, Mike Janka and his wife, Sue, Clear Lake, and 
Marv Janka and wife, Rhonda, Mason City; one daughter, 
Anita Minnick, Janesville, Wis.; seven grandchildren, 
Jennifer, Jason, Jeremy, Theresa, Dan, Kara and Hillary; 
three great-grandchildren, Alex, Jason and Jordyn; one brother, 
Jack Williams and wife, Georgene, Clear Lake; and several  nieces

Francis was born Jan. 1, 1923, in Mason City, the son of 
William Angell and Eva (nee) Bruce Angell.  He attended Mason City 
Public Schools and served his country in the U.S. Navy from  1940
to 1945 as an Aviator Engineer First Class.  Francis  was a life
member of the VFW and a member of Benevolence Lodge  No. 145 A.F.
& A.M.

Francis was united in marriage to Betty Kopps on Feb. 14, 1945,  in
San Diego, Calif.  He was employed by the Mason City Utilities 
pumping station for 39 years, serving 20 years as production 
supervisor.
  
Francis was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, and  lived
a very active life.  He received the Scouter's Key award  for Cub
and Boy Scout leadership, and cooked for the community  kitchen.
Francis loved golf, gardening, and athletics, being  an ``arm-chair
coach'' for his children and grandchildren.  He  also enjoyed
dancing and playing cards.

Francis is survived by his wife, Betty; two sons, Gordon Angell and 
wife, Kathy, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Doug Angell of Mason City; 
one daughter, Carol and husband Jerry Ryerson of Ames; seven 
grandchildren; one sister, Phyllis Hesley and husband, Gerald; and 
three brothers, Robert Angell and wife, La Dell; Eugene Angell and
wife, Lorraine, and Bruce Angell and wife, Myrna, all of Mason
City. 
Francis was preceded in death by his parents; one brother,  Virgil;

Faber McCollaugh was born May 5, 1901, at Hampton.  She had lived
in  Ankeny since 1993.  Prior to moving to Ankeny, she lived in
Garner  at the Prairie Retirement Home from 1974-1993.  Prior to
moving to  Garner, Mrs. McCollaugh lived in Clear Lake from
1967-1974.   
She was a farm wife in Hancock County from 1942-1967.  Until 1942, 
she had been a secretary at the county clerk of court in Hampton. 
On Feb. 27, 1942, she was married to Roy John McCollaugh in
Hampton. 
She was a member of the Garner Methodist Church and Garner
Methodist  Church Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include one son, Bill McCollaugh of Ankeny; two
grandsons,  Matthew and Erik McCollaugh of Ankeny; one
granddaughter,   Jennifer Jones of Waukee; and one great-grandson, 
Jared Jones of Waukee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William F. Webb and  Mrs.
Susan Abi Dow; her husband; one brother, Richard Webb;  and one

     Philip E. Portwood, 69, of 715 S. Georgia Ave., died Wednesday

Philip was born July 23, 1925 at Kewanee, Ill., the son of  Leslie
Portwood and Irene (nee) Higgins Portwood.  He attended  Clear Lake
High School and served his country in the United States  Navy from
1943-50. Philip was a Gunner's Mate First Class during  World War
II, and was a member of the VFW and Moose Lodge #1328. 

Philip was united in marriage to Patsy Cummings on July 9, 1947  in
New Hampton, Iowa. He was employed as a salesman for Hewett 
Wholesale for 31 years, retiring in 1984.  Philip was a member  of
St. Joseph's Catholic Church who loved his family and was a  good
father. He had a great sense of humor and was a faithful  Cubs fan.
Philip also enjoyed all athletics, playing cards and  gardening. He
was an avid reader who enjoyed history and politics. 

Philip is survived by his wife, Patsy; three daughters, 
Mrs. David (Nancy) Eason of Ankeny, Julie Portwood of Des Moines, 
and Mrs. Andrew (Terri) Harris of Des Moines; two grandchildren, 
Brent and Dawn Messelheiser; a stepgrandson, Steven Harris and a 
great-grandchild, Caitlan Messelheiser; one brother, 
Leslie (Bud) Portwood, and wife, Pat of Boone; three sisters,

Harold L. Roggeman was born Feb. 8, 1927, at Rockwell, the son  of
Albert Roggeman and Reka (nee) Buss Roggeman.  Harold 
attended schools in Rockwell and Mason City.  He entered the 
service and served in the United States Navy during World War II 
as an electrician. 

Harold married Luella R. Hrubetz on Oct. 19, 1946, at Albert Lea,
Minn. He worked 38« years for Jacob E. Decker and Sons (Armour Food
Company),  retiring in 1983.   He was a member of the Moose Lodge,
VFW and the  Lunker Club.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and
gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Luella R. Roggeman of Mason City;  one
son, Ronald E. Roggeman of Mason City; two sisters, 
Ann Ellis of Phoenix, Ariz., and Irene and husband, William Failor 
of Mason City; two brothers, William Roggeman and his wife,
