Isabel I. Steenhard, 83, of Waverly, formerly of Hampton, died on Monday, December 3, 2001, at the Ravenwood Nursing & Rehab Center in Waterloo, of complications of cancer.

Funeral services were held on Friday, December 7, at 1:30 p.m., at the Bartels Lutheran Home Chapel, Waverly. Her body was cremated. The Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, was in charge of the arrangements.

Lawrence "Larry" Ballhagen, 91, of Osage, died on Tuesday, December 4, 2001.

Visitation is planned for Friday, December 7, from 4-7:00 p.m., at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 8, at 10:00 a.m., at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.

Tillie Fecht, 84, of Allison, died on Wednesday, December 5, 2001, at the Waverly Municipal Hospital.

Visitation is planned for Friday, December 7, from 4-7:00 p.m., at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home, Allison. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 8, at 10:30 a.m., at the Reformed Church of Stout, Rev. David H. Powers officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Reformed Church Cemetery, rural Aplington.

Harold Meinders, 76, of Dumont, died on Friday, December 7, 2001, at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa East Campus, Mason City.

Funeral services were held on Monday, December 10, at the Dumont Reformed Church, Dumont. Burial was in the Dumont Cemetery. The Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Wayne Oliver Lawson, 75, of Alden, died on Monday, December 10, 2001, at his home of a heart ailment.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 13, at 10:30 a.m., at the Immanuel Memorial United Church of Christ, Alden. Visition was one hour prior to services at the church. The Linn's Funeral Home, Iowa Falls, was in charge of the arrangements. Burial was in the Alden Cemetery.

Margaret K. Anderson

December 14, 2001

Margaret K. Anderson, 87, of Clear Lake, a native of Thornton and a graduate of school there, died on Tuesday, December 11, 2001, at the Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake.

Visitation was held on Thursday, December 13, from 3-7:00 p.m., at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, and one hour prior to the services at the church. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 14, at 2:00 p.m., at the Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake.  Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Grams 25th Anniversary

December 12, 2001

Ray and Nadine (Freese) Gram, will be celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary on Saturday, December 15, 2001. They were married on December 18, 1976 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

A family dinner is being held on Saturday, December 15, at the Country Touch Inn. The event is being hosted by their children.

Craightons 45th Anniversary

December 12, 2001

Dean and Lillian (Mutzel) Craighton, will celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary on Sunday, December 16, 2001. They were married at the Little Brown Church on December 16, 1956.


A family dinner is being planned for Saturday, December 15. Following church on Sunday their family is honoring them with a coffee fellowship.

Ardis Bertha Shaw, 77, of Wisner Township, south of Meservey in Franklin County, died on Thursday, December 13, 2001, at her home.

Funeral services were held on Monday, December 17, at the Salem United Methodist Church, Meservey. Burial was in the Meservey Cemetery. The Grarup-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Katie Mae (Manifold) Swanson, 98, of the Hillcrest Home, Sumner, and formerly of Cedar Falls and Dumont, died on Friday, December 21, 2001, at the Community Memorial Hospital, Sumner, following a brief illness and infection.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 26, at 1:30 p.m., at the Dumont Cemetery. Her body was cremated.

Rudolph Meyer, 96, of Sheffield, died on Saturday, December 22, 2001, at the Sheffield Care Center, Sheffield.

Visitation was held on Sunday, December 23, from 1-5:00 p.m., at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Hampton. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 24, at 1:30 p.m., at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Hampton.  Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hampton.
