Gregory Jay Quame

September 5, 2000

Gregory Jay Quame, 53, of Ventura, died on Friday, September 1, 2000, in an automobile accident in rural Woden.

Visitation is planned for Tuesday, September 5, from 4-8:00 p.m., at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, and one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 6, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Buffalo Center, with the Rev. Mary Sacco officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at the Olena Mounds Cemetery, Buffalo Center, with military honors by the Buffalo Center V.F.W.

Among the survivors are daughters, Janet Uhlenhopp and Robin Olmstead of Hampton.

William Hinrichs "Bill" Ryburn

William Hinrichs "Bill" Ryburn, 79, of Rockwell, died on Saturday, September 2, 2000, at the Community Nursing Home in Rockwell.

Visitation is planned for Monday, September 4, from 5-8:00 p.m., at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf-Grarup Funeral Home, Sheffield. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 5, at 10:30 a.m., at the First Baptist Church, Rockwell, with the Rev. Louis Bram officiating. Burial will be in the Rockwell Cemetery.

Donald D. Buss

September 5, 2000

Donald D. Buss, 75, of Crosby, Minnesota, formerly of Hampton, died on Saturday, September 2, 2000, at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby.

Visitation is planned for Friday, September 8, at 11:00 a.m., and until the time of the service, at the Koop Funeral Home, Crosby. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 8, at 1:00 p.m., at the Koop Funeral Home, Crosby, with the Rev. Paul Mattson officiating. Full military rites will be provided by the Myrin James American Legion Post #443, of Ironton.

Sadonia L. Koch, 76, of Sheffield, died on Sunday, September 3, 2000, at her home.

There will be no funeral services and also no visitation. There will be a private family burial service held at the Hillside Cemetery, Sheffield. Memorials may be made to the Sadonia L. Koch Memorial Fund.

Merle "Shorty" Richtsmeier, 77, of Ackley, died on Tuesday, September 5, 2000, at the Presbyterian Village, Ackley.

The Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Ackley, is in charge of the arrangements and will host the visitation on Wednesday evening, September 6. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 7, at 11:00 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church, Ackley, with the Rev. Dawn Carder officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Ackley.

Dr. Richard Paul Koenen, 69, of Hampton, died on Sunday, September 10, 2000, at his home of natural causes.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 13, at the St. John's United Church of Christ, Ackley, with the Rev. Michael Dack officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Ackley.

Irving Wiarda, Sr.

September 19, 2000

Irving Wiarda, Sr., 94, of Dows, died on Sunday, September 10, 2000, at the Franklin General Hospital Nursing Facility in Hampton.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 13, at the United Methodist Church, Dows, with the Rev. Tony Hershey officiating. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery, Dows. The Willim Funeral Home, Clarion, was in charge of the arrangements.

Otmar John Eich, 75, of Ackley, died on Monday, September 11, 2000, at the Presbyterian Village, Ackley.

Visitation is planned for Wednesday, September 13, from 2-8:00 p.m., with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m., at the Sietsema Funeral Home, Ackley. There will be a scripture service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 14, at 11:00 a.m., at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Ackley, with Father Jim Miller officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Ackley.

Dwight V. "Bump" Purcell, Jr., 69, a former part-owner of the Hampton Chronicle & Times, died on Thursday, September 14, 2000, in Beaverton, Oregon.

At his request, no services were held and disposition was by cremation.

Jack R. Beale, 75, of Thornton, died on Saturday, September 16, 2000, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, September 21, at 2:00 p.m., at the Richland Lutheran Church, 300 Elm St., Thornton, with the Rev. Jerome Gernander officiating. Visitation is planned for Thursday, September 21, from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the services, at the church. There will be private graveside services at the Richland Lutheran Cemetery, Thornton. The Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be given to the Hospice of North Iowa.

Verla Penticoff, 74, of Hansell, died on Sunday, September 17, 2000, at her home of natural causes.

Visitation is planned for Tuesday, September 19, from 6-8:00 p.m., at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Hampton. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 20, at 10:00 a.m., at the Hansell United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Julie Poore-Christensen officiating. Burial will be in the Ingham Township Cemetery, Hansell.

Memorials should be directed to the family, to be divided among the North Iowa Hospice, cancer research, and the Hansell United Methodist Church.

Marilyn "Jo" Miller, 66, of Waterloo, formerly of Hampton, died of cancer on Sunday, September 17, 2000, at her home.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 21, 2000, at the Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo, with the Rev. Dr. David Moore, pastor emeritus of the Walnut Ridge Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo.

Glenn G. Nowell, 86, of Carlisle and formerly of Franklin County, died on Monday, September 18, 2000, at the Cavanaugh House in West Des Moines.

Visitation is planned for Wednesday evening at the Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, Des Moines, and from 9-11:00 a.m., on Thursday at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Latimer. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 21, at 11:00 a.m., at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Latimer. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, south of Coulter.
