Lutheran Church, Belmond. The Rev. Troy Pflibsen will officiate. Burial
will be in the Osage Municipal Cemetery, Osage.
Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. today at the Andrews Funeral
Home, 516 First Street Southeast, Belmond, and continue one hour prior

The family suggests those wishing to express their sympathies through a
memorial in Edgar's name, consider Trinity Lutheran Church, Belmond,
Belmond VFW, the Belmond-Klemme Schools Foundations or to a charity of
the donor's choice.
Edgar Charles Janson, the son of Hjelmaar and Anna (Enge) Janson, was
born on Feb. 18, 1919 on his family's farm in rural Clarion, Wright
County. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in
rural Clarion near where he grew up. Edgar attended and graduated from
Clarion High School. He also attended Barber College in Des Moines.
Edgar served in the United States Army during World War II, spending
times during his tenure in the Pacific Theatre, the Philippines, and
various other islands during the war. He received numerous awards and
commendations for his service to his country. After being honorably
discharged, Edgar returned to civilian life where he farmed for a time.
He eventually began his chosen profession as a barber. He remained in
the profession for 50 years as a self employed businessman.
Edgar was united in marriage to Grace Seter, on Oct. 10, 1948, at Our
Saviors Lutheran Church in Osage. The couple moved to Belmond in the
late 1950s. Their union was blessed with three sons: Charles, Mark, and
Marshall. They also lost a daughter in infancy.
Edgar truly was a people person and very much enjoyed his life as a
barber and the hundreds of customers he served throughout the five
decades of his career. Following retirement from his barbershop, he
continued to provide his haircuts on a volunteer basis to his many
friends and family members.
His family reflects back on Edgar's memory and remembers him as a caring
and loving father and a wonderful partner to his wife, Grace, for so
many years. He cared for his family deeply. He looked forward to each
and every opportunity that meant spending time in their presence and
enjoyed going on family visits. Edgar was a man who was very progressive
in his thinking and appreciated being "in the here and now" of the world
around him. He loved being an active participant in his community and
served in various roles with the Belmond Area Chamber of Commerce and
the Belmond Jaycees during his business years. He was a longtime and
very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Belmond and was a
member of the VFW.
Edgar loved spending time and coffeeing with friends at Bloemke's
Pharmacy in Belmond and enjoyed the special friends he had during his
many years at the Belmond Community Apartments.
Those who had the honor of crossing the path of Edgar's life journey
will remember him as a man who was easygoing, warm and friendly. They
will miss his warm hello, the twinkle in his eyes and his warm smile.
Many will also remember Edgar for his famous angel food cakes that he
had provided for so many occasions over the years.
Edgar passed away on his 91st birthday and celebrated it in heaven with
his loving wife Grace.
His life will live on in the hearts and minds of his surviving children,

Michael Dale Fredericks, son of Dale W. and Faith Fredericks, was born
March 4, 1943, in Iowa Falls. Mike graduated from Clear Lake High School
in 1961. He graduated from Mason City Junior College then attended Iowa
State University where he graduated from the veterinary medicine school
in 1968. Mike was affiliated with Omega Tau Sigma Professional
Veterinary Fraternity and Phi Zeta Honorary Veterinary Fraternity. He
married Monica Salisbury in Ames on Sept. 22, 1963.
Mike (Doc) was known to many and loved by all. He was married to his
loving wife, Monica, the only woman in his life, for more than 50 years,
whom he adored and shared a lifelong journey with. He cherished his
children, Michell, who he passed on his love of animals, especially
horses, as he taught her to ride and looked on proudly as she competed
in equestrian events. Together, they went on many vet calls, creating a
lasting bond between the two.
Mike spent endless hours watching his son, Marty J., excel as an athlete
in both high school and college and enjoyed the many fishing trips they
shared together. He beamed with pride at the man and father his son
became. One of his last gifts in life were his two grandchildren, Ava
and Emily, with whom he loved to spend time.
Mike had a passion for fishing and spent many fun-filled hours with his
buddies on Clear Lake fishing from his boat during summer months and ice
fishing in the winter. He loved the outdoors and appreciated everything
Mother Nature had to offer. He especially enjoyed the spring of the
year, the birthing season. He marveled at the bond which instinctively
developed between mare and foal.
Mike was also an avid Iowa sports fan who cheered during many Iowa
Hawkeye game with his brother, Steve, and both of their sons.
Professionally, Doc was calm in times of stress and his demeanor
provided a leveling influence in conflicting situations. His patience
and kindness made him a gentle doctor. Doc's passion for veterinary
medicine and his commitment to quality health care was evidenced in his
being the first veterinarian in the state of Iowa to purchase an
ultra-sound machine. He was known for his equine expertise and his
dedicated service to the horse industry. Mike was a member of The
American Quarter Horse Association, Iowa Veterinary Medical Association,
American Veterinary Medical Association, and Horsemen of Iowa.
He will be most remembered and revered as a compassionate man and gentle
veterinarian whose life was dedicated to caring for the animals he so
loved, and the people in his life that meant the most to him.
