Mildred W. (Buchholz)
and Alvin J.
Klingenmaier Sr.
On May 18, 1957, Donna
was united in marriage
to Joseph W. Andrea Sr.
in Chicago, Ill. The
couple and their young
family moved to Mason
City in 1974.
Donna and Joe were each
other’s best friend and
treasured spending as
much time as possible
with each other.
Together they were the
proud parents of four
children, enjoyed
camping, traveling,
fishing, boating, riding
bikes and going for
walks.
Donna was known to head
quickly to the dance
floor when hearing the
music to the “Hoky
Poky.” She and Joe were
graceful dance partners
and loved dancing to a
wide variety of music.
Friday evenings were a
special “date night” for
Donna and Joe. They
would meet several of
their friends at the
Knights of Columbus fish
fry for the meal and
social time.
Throughout the 46 years
of their marriage, Donna

with the gift of
extended life through a

in 2003. Her sister,
Adeline Hansen, was her
bone marrow donor. Donna
fought valiantly
throughout her battle
with cancer. She was an
encouraging spokesperson
and mentor for others
facing transplants,
always placing the needs
of others before her
own.
Donna was a dedicated
wife and nurturing
mother. She spent
countless hours creating
an inviting home and
memories for her family
and friends.
Holidays and birthdays
were always special. She
treasured family
gatherings, her friends,
each grandchild and her
companionship with her
dog, “Chance.”
Donna is lovingly
remembered for her
wonderful pistachio
cakes, pineapple
upside-down cake and
fudge. Her children and
Joe claim that Donna’s
potato salad was the
very best.
She is further described
as a woman who was
highly organized,
strong-willed, selfless,
giving, loving, guiding,
humble, trustworthy and
a confidant to anyone
for any reason.
In her leisure time,
Donna relaxed to games
of canasta and
solitaire, bowling on a
women’s league team,
antique shopping and
working on craft
projects. She adored her

then at-tended
the American
Institute of

his community
service and his

remembers
wonderful
