RICEVILLE - Darci Lynn Rawhouser, 19, of Riceville, died Sunday (May 9, 1999) three miles west of Riceville on Highway 9, the result of a car accident.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Riceville.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Lindstrom Funeral Home, Riceville, with a 6 p.m. prayer service.

KENNETH M. WHYTE

GOLDFIELD - Kenneth M. Whyte, 91, of Goldfield, died Sunday (May 9, 1999) at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church, Goldfield. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Willim Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, with a 7 p.m. Masonic service.

BELMOND - Sylvia Soma, 91, of Belmond, died Monday (May 10, 1999) at the Heritage Care Center, Mason City.

GLENDALE, Ariz. - Fred E. Tatum, 88, of Glendale, formerly of Nora Springs, died Wednesday (May 5, 1999) at the Thunderbird Samaritan Home, Glendale, Ariz.

A memorial service was held in Glendale, Ariz. There will be no local funeral services at this time. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Nora Springs.

BEATRICE (BEA) A. WALLACE

CLEAR LAKE - Beatrice (Bea) A. Wallace, 58, of 3610 Main Ave., died Monday (May 10, 1999) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 14, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Clear Lake, with Monsignor Joseph J. Slepicka officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake.

The family suggests memorials be given in the name of Beatrice A. Wallace.

Bea was born Aug. 1, 1940, in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Gust and Marie (Loecsh) Sabelka. She graduated from Mount Mercy Academy in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1958, where she served as senior class president.

On June 29, 1984, she was united in marriage to James Wallace at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Clear Lake.

She was a Clear Lake resident for more than 30 years and was deeply involved with her church, St. Patrick's. Her family and church were extremely important in her life.

Her hobbies included painting, crafts, gardening and bird watching. She also loved quilts and flowers.

She is survived by her husband, Jim of Clear Lake; her mother, Marie Sabelka of Elma, Iowa; a daughter, Jill Sheridan of Des Moines; two sons, Chad Sheridan and his wife, Michelle, of Des Moines, and Todd Sheridan and his fiance, Charlene Connelly, of Des Moines: a stepson, James "Tony" Wallace of Chicago, Ill.; four grandsons, Luke Maring of Clear Lake, Travis and Chris Roberts of Rowan, Iowa, and Joe Maske of Des Moines; a special brother-in-law, Romuald Elsbernd and his wife, Florine, of Spillville, Iowa; and a special aunt, Angie Loecsh of Spillville.

She was preceded in death by her father; two sisters, Dorothy Elsbernd and Sister Germaine; and a daughter, Theresa Sheridan.

LATIMER - Arthur L. Pralle, 87, of Latimer, died Monday (May 10, 1999) at Franklin General Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Latimer. Burial will be in the church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Willim Funeral Home, Latimer, with a 7 p.m. prayer service.

EUGENE RONALD GERDES

WEBSTER CITY - Eugene Ronald Gerdes, 43, passed away Friday (May 7, 1999) at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Webster City, with the Rev. John Grebner officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Belmond Cemetery. Military graveside services will be provided by the Iowa Air National Guard 133rd Air Control Squadron, of Fort Dodge.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home, Belmond, and one hour prior to services at church in Webster City.

Eugene, the son of Henry and Dorothy Lacey Gerdes, was born Dec. 22, 1955, in Belmond. He grew up in Belmond where Eugene attended Belmond Community Schools. He graduated from Belmond High School in 1974. After high school, Eugene entered the United States Air Force where he served two years. In 1976, he entered the Iowa Air National Guard and returned to Belmond. While living in Belmond, Eugene worked for Winnebago, We-3 Catering and National By-Products.

Eugene was united in marriage to Janine Lein on June 28, 1986, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Belmond. The couple made their home in Badger and Fort Dodge. Still serving in the Iowa Air National Guard, Eugene went to work full-time with the 133rd Air Control Squadron in Fort Dodge. The couple would later move to Webster City. Eugene's career in the Iowa Air National Guard was very important to him and he continued to serve and work there until his death.

Eugene was a devoted Hawkeye fan, having attended numerous football and basketball games in Iowa City. He enjoyed bowling, gun collecting and model trains. He liked working on the house and in the garden. Eugene will be remembered as a devoted husband and father. His girls where his treasures.

Eugene's service in the Iowa Air National Guard included membership in the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of United States, Enlisted Association of the National Guard of Iowa, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and member of the National Rifle Association. He belonged to the Rock Island Technical Society. Eugene was also a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, in Webster City.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Janine; four daughters, Jessica, Katelyn, Rebecca and Carrie, all at home; his parents, Henry (Hank) and Dorothy Gerdes, of Belmond; two sisters, Susan Ammerman and her husband, Roger, of Clarion; and Debra Halfpop and her husband, Robert, of Belmond; one brother, Randi and his fiancee, Lynn, of Hodston, Texas; five nieces; one nephew; his mother and father-in-law, Wayne and Jean Lein, of Belmond; sister-in-law, Paula Lein, of West Des Moines; and grandfather-in-law, Adolphe Tendall, of Ames.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Marie and Bill Lacey; paternal grandparents, Meta and Tim Gerdes; his wife's maternal grandmother, Merrill Tendall; and paternal grandparents, Ellis and Oscar Lein.

MARY ALICE (MARSTON) SCHLOBOHM

MASON CITY - Mary Alice (Marston) Schlobohm, 89, of The Willows, formerly of Rock Falls, died Sunday (May 9, 1999) at the Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Eden Presbyterian Church, rural Rudd, with the Rev. John Bates officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Falls Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.

LOLA SMITH

BUFFALO CENTER - Funeral services for Lola Smith, 87, of Buffalo Center, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Buffalo Center, with the Rev. Jim Cherry and the Rev. Ron Stein officiating. Burial will take place in Graceland Cemetery, Buffalo Center.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. today at the Winter Funeral Home, Buffalo Center, and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.

Lola Smith, daughter of LeRoy and Gertrude (Millbrandt) Leibrand, was born July 31, 1911, in a farm home northwest of Buffalo Center. She graduated from Buffalo Center High School in 1929.

She married Theodore G. Smith in 1930. They were blessed with one son, Marvin.

Lola graduated from La James Beauty School in Mason City, and owned and operated Lola's Beauty Salon in Buffalo Center. She later operated Lola's Card and Gift Shop until her health forced her to enter Timely Mission Nursing Home in November of 1996.

Lola was a very devoted mother. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and loved to go to coffee with her friends and fellow merchants.

Lola passed away Sunday (May 9, 1999) at the nursing home in Buffalo Center at the age of 87.

Left to cherish her memory is one son, Marv and his wife, Geri Smith, of Mason City; three grandchildren, Tom and his wife, Jerolyn Smith, of Chelsea; Deb Smith, of Mason City; and Dr. Dan Smith, of Minneapolis, Minn.; one brother, Elmer Leibrand, of Buffalo Center; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore in 1939; her parents; and one brother, Melvin.

WAYNE I. MILHOUS

NORA SPRINGS - Wayne I. Milhous, 89, of rural Nora Springs, died Saturday (May 8, 1999) at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. NE, Mason City, with the Rev. Ruth Hansen of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Nora Springs, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, with flag folding and taps by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel and will continue one hour prior to the service at the funeral home Wednesday.

Wayne Isaac Milhous was born Dec. 8, 1909, at Baird, the son of Lewis C. And Beulah (Burrhus) Milhous. He attended schools in Ventura and later attended Coyne Electrical Trade School in Chicago. Later Wayne served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged Oct. 21, 1945, in Minneapolis, Minn.

On Sept. 24, 1939, he married Laura Tabbert in Austin, Minn.

Wayne was a lifelong farmer and also enjoyed flower-gardening. He was an independent person and very proud of the fact, as well as being good-hearted and extremely patient. Wayne loved to travel to see his family, especially if he was driving a new car. He also liked to go on fishing trips to Canada and watch his favorite sport - baseball. Other favorite pastimes were playing pinochle and canasta.

He was a Farm Bureau member.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Michael Milhous and his wife, Carol, Bolingbrook, Ill.; his daughter, Carolyn Bethke and her husband, Don, Northwood; grandchildren, Michelle Garland and her husband, Roger, Columbus, Ohio, Michael Mark Milhous, Bolingbrook, Ill., Meggan Marie Milhous, Lisle, Ill., Wayne Julius Bethke and Becky Ann Bethke, both of Northwood; two sisters, Rachel Hemmings, Benton Harbor, Mich., and Betty Woods, Arizona; one brother, Max Milhous (who came to think of Wayne as a father rather than a brother because their parents were gone at a young age) and his wife, Lucille, Ventura; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters, Audrey and Peggy; and an infant brother.

NORA SPRINGS - Ada Lorentzen, 88, of Prescott, Ariz., formerly of the Nora Springs and Mason City areas, died April 10 1999.

Funeral services were held at a Lutheran church in Prescott following cremation.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Park Cemetery in Nora Springs with the Rev. Ruth Hansen of St. Luke Lutheran Church officiating.

SYLVIA ELLEN CHAPMAN SOMA

BELMOND - Funeral services for Sylvia Ellen Chapman Soma, 91, a former Belmond resident, will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Belmond. She died Monday (May 10, 1999) at the Heritage Care Center, Mason City.

The Rev. Jim Carpenter will officiate. Burial will be in the Belmond Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home, Belmond.

Sylvia, daughter of Edwin and Julia Ann Wilson Chapman, was born Oct. 10, 1907, near Rowan. She graduated from Belmond High School in 1926. For a time she lived in Washington, D.C., where she worked for the Secret Service. She attended college in Des Moines and taught in the rural school system near Belmond.

On Feb. 27, 1933, Elmer S. Soma and Sylvia were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church, Belmond. They farmed near Belmond until retirement in 1969. Sylvia had numerous interests and talents and enjoyed sharing them with others.

Left to cherish her memory are her seven children, Audrey and her husband, Richard Elliot, of San Diego, Calif., David and his wife, June Soma, of Britt, Phyllis and her husband, Rollie Jenison, of Ames, Sandra and her husband, Glendon Losen, of Mason City, Eloise and her husband, Robert Davis, of Mason City, Kathryn and her husband, Ronald Schroder, of Tampa, Fla., and Cheryl, of Eagle Grove. Eighteen grandchildren also survive her: Kathryn Richter, Laura Graham, Mark Elliot, Julie Torpey, Daniel Soma, Lisa Keller, Leigh Jenison, Neal, Eric, David, Valerie and Susan Losen, Paul, Andrea Davis, Kristin Hummel, Matthew, Michael and Susan Schroder. Sixteen great-grandchildren also are among the survivors.

Her husband, her parents, six brothers, two sisters and three great-grandchildren preceded in her death.

The family suggests that memorials be given in the name of Sylvia E. Soma.

MARY ALICE MARSTON SCHLOBOHM

ROCKS FALLS - Mary Alice Marston Schlobohm, 89, of The Willows, formerly of Rock Falls, died Sunday (May 9, 1999) at the Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake.

Mary Alice Marston Schlobohm was born Feb. 9, 1910, on a farm near Seward, Ill., to George Edward and Sarah Rachel (Scott) Marston. She was 12 years old when her family moved to a farm in the Park Rapids area of Minnesota. Her mother died soon thereafter.

Mary moved to Mason City during her high school years, living with her uncle, Dr. Charles Marston's family. Mary graduated from Mason City High School in 1928. She then attended the State Normal School (now the University of Northern Iowa) at Cedar Falls. Mary returned to Cerro Gordo County and taught in rural one-room schools.

In 1931, she married Otto George Schlobohm and they lived on a farm near Rock Falls until 1940 when they moved into Rock Falls. The family's income was supplemented with her substitute teaching for the Rock Falls schools, secretarial services to the Rock Falls Telephone Company and service as town clerk of Rock Falls for more than 20 years.

Mary was a member and elder of the Presbyterian Church of Rudd, where she was superintendent of the church school for many years as well as serving in other leadership roles for the church. She also was active in the Daughters of American Colonists (DAC) and the Daughters of Colonial Wars (DCW).

She was the president of the Rock Falls Garden Club and an active member of the Rock Falls PTA. Mary chaired the committee that produced and published the Rock Falls Historical Book in 1977. She served on the OK House board of directors from its beginnings on the North Iowa Area Community College Campus.

Mary served on the board of the Kinney Pioneer Museum for 28 years and was its president for six years. During this time, she enjoyed giving tours of the museum's one-room schoolhouse as it was similar to the ones she taught in many years before.

Mary's hobbies included working with ceramics, refinishing furniture, reading, attending card clubs and more recently making strings of paper beads. She also enjoyed her many trips to visit her grandchildren around the country.

Mary and Otto retired to The Willows in Mason City about four years ago and she had lived at the Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake for the last two years.

She will be missed by her family which includes four sons, the Rev. Dr. William Schlobohm and his wife, Naomi, of Coal Valley, Ill., Dr. Richard Schlobohm and his wife, Phyllis, of Mill Valley, Calif., James Schlobohm and his wife, Sally, of South Bend, Ind., and John Schlobohm and his wife, Patricia, of Clear Lake, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Otto, in 1997; one brother; and two sisters.

Mary's heart was in education and those thinking of memorial gifts may direct them to the Eden Scholarship Fund at Eden Presbyterian Church or to other educational institutions of your choice.

MARY ALICE MARSTON SCHLOBOHM

MASON CITY - Ruth Abrahams, 61, of Mason City, died Wednesday (May 12, 1999) at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn., following a lengthy illness.

Ruth was born Aug. 28, 1937, in Osage, the daughter of Lloyd and Nora (Johnson) Gillerman. She was baptized at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, rural Osage, and was confirmed at the Immanual Lutheran Church, Osage. She graduated from Osage High School in 1956.

Ruth married Vernon Abrahams on Sept. 7, 1963, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She was employed at the A.C. Nielson Company in Mason City for 25 years and at Principal Financial in Mason City the last nine years.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Vernon, of Mason City; one sister, Lois Lehmann and her husband, Tom, of Clear Lake; mother-in-law, Edith Abrahams, of Northwood; three sisters-in-law, Betty Tesch and her husband, Carl, of Lincoln, Neb., Mary Montgomery of Mason City, and Shirley Johnson of Newton; two brothers-in-law, David Abrahams and his wife, Phyllis, of Northwood, and Duane Abrahams and his wife, Karen, of Northwood; and many nieces and nephews.

SHERMAN D. WARD

MASON CITY - Sherman D. Ward, 73, of 2241 22nd St. S.W., died Tuesday (May 11, 1999) at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Joel Dahlen of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, with full Military rites by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association.

Sherman was born Nov. 16, 1925, in Decatur, Ill., the son of William and Ada (Simon) Ward. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1944.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army Infantry on Aug. 18, 1944, at Fort Snelling. He received an award for marksmanship when stationed at Camp Campbell Kentucky. Sherman was wounded in combat in Engerm, Germany, and received the Purple Heart on April 15, 1945. He then served as a clerk-typist in Paris for the duration of his service. He was discharged on April 6, 1946, at Jefferson Barracks, Mo. He had served two years.

He attended N.I.A.C.C. for 11/2 years upon returning to Mason City following his discharge. Sherman was then employed by PG & E and Interstate Power for 40 years, retiring at the age of 62.

Sherman and wife, Ruth (Theilen), were united in marriage on Dec. 31, 1948, at the Christian Lutheran Church in Mason City. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past December.

Sherman was an avid golfer at Highland Park Golf Course, loved swing music, traveling with his wife, Ruth, and taking the grandchildren for bike rides.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ruth, of Mason City; three children, Sherrine Lee and her husband, Morley, of Mason City, Scott Ward and his wife, Lori, of Mason City, and Sharm Ward and his wife, Tracy, of Rock Falls; eight grandchildren, Davi Shafer-Haag, Destrina Shafer, Chris, Josh, Jesse, Brandy, Justin and Courtney Ward; and two stepgrandchildren, Katie and Jon Whalen; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack Ward of Decatur, Ill.; three sisters, Gladys Lewis and her husband, Robert, of Charles City, Dorothy Rugger of Mason City, and Lola Ward of Rockport, Texas.

Sherman was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marjorie Stearns of Willits, Calif.; and one brother, William, at birth.

MASON CITY - Frankie L. Sjolinder, 44, of 932 S. Tennessee Place, died April 27, 1999, at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Frankie Smith was born Aug. 14, 1954, at St. John District Hospital, St. John, Kan., the daughter of Charles and Gladys (Hoffman) Smith. Frankie graduated from St. John High School in 1972 and received her teaching degree in music education from Fort Hays State University in 1976. She earned her master's degree in vocal performance from the University of Northern Iowa in 1983.

Frankie was united in marriage with John Sjolinder on July 20, 1985, in Mason City. To this union, one daughter, Erin Renee, was born.

Frankie was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Mason City. She was also an active member of Jazzercise of Mason City for seven years. Frankie also liked spending time outdoors. She enjoyed camping, biking and gardening.

Frankie will be greatly missed by her husband and daughter. Also surviving are her father and stepmother, Charles Jr. and Marie Smith, of St. John, Kan.; one sister, Sandy Hudson, of St. John, Kan.; and numerous family and friends.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City, the Sacred Heart Circle, the Lay Carmelite, the Women's Relief Corps, the Charles City Women's Club, the Friday Bridge Club and the Royal Neighbors.

Living family members include two daughters and their spouses, Eileen and Emil Zimmerman of Lansing, and Dorothy and Maurice Lines of Marble Rock; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Paulus, of Lone Grove, Okla.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth Rausch was born Jan. 17, 1909, the daughter of Karl and Marie (Schmidt) Rausch in Neulussheim, Germany, State of Baden. Elizabeth came with her parents and brother, Carl, to America and Mason City in 1910. They were sponsored by her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Buehler.

Elizabeth grew up in Mason City and attended Mason City schools. She worked for Purity Bakery in Mason City and then for Jacob E. Decker & Sons and retired after 42 years.

Elizabeth was confirmed in the Zion German Methodist Church, which is now Wesley United Methodist Church, where she was a charter member and choir member for 50 years. Elizabeth enjoyed sewing and working with ceramics. She also loved and enjoyed her family and listening to music.

Her family includes a sister, Helen M. Thornblade, of Bettendorf, formerly of Manly; nieces, Carolyn Keeney and her husband, Don, of Bettendorf, and Marilyn Miller and her husband, John, of Cedar Falls; great-nephews, Brad and Kreg Miller and David Keeney and his wife, Angela; great-nieces, Barbara Keeney, Ann Keeney-Grafft and her husband, Jonathan; and great-great-niece, Meghan Keeney.

Stella was born Dec. 9, 1953, in Mason City, from immigrant parents, Antonios and Maria (Triantafyllou) Pattas. Stella attended and graduated from Mason City High School in 1972, then attended and graduated from North Iowa Area Community College. She moved to Minneapolis and attended Minneapolis School for Lab Technicians.

Following graduation, she returned to Mason City and worked for Mercy Hospital for a few years. Stella moved back to Minneapolis to work for the University of Minnesota Hospital Lab for eight years. While working at the lab, she attended the University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in marketing as well as a degree in interior decorating.

She worked at the General Mills Lab and mostly recently in the lab at Northwestern College of Chiropractics. She loved her work and the people there. They were very supportive during her difficult period of battling cancer.

Stella enjoyed music, traveling, decorating, animals and spending time with her family and friends.

Stella is survived by her parents, Antonios and Maria Pattas, of Mason City; a brother, James Pattas, of Minneapolis; uncle, Vasilios Triantafyllou, a retired General in the Greek Army, who came from Greece to see Stella; godparents, Dr. and Mrs. Chris Bakris, of Flint, Mich.; many uncles, aunts and cousins here in the United States and Greece.

Roberta Rose Buhr was born Aug. 11, 1927, in Thornburg, daughter of Franklin and Zella (Piersel) Axmear. She married John H. Buhr on Nov. 24, 1978, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake.

Roberta was raised in Thornburg and graduated from Thornburg High School. She received her bachelor's degree from Iowa State. She taught elementary education for 31 years, the past 23 years in Clear Lake until retiring in 1988.

She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and traveling. Roberta loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and she was very devoted to her family.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and a 50-year member of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Iowa Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include her husband, John Buhr, of Clear Lake; three sons, Robert Franklin Edmundson and his wife, Shelly, of Arapaho, Neb., Roy William Edmundson and his wife, Ellen, of Culbertson, Neb., and Edgar Axmear Edmundson and his wife, Beth, of Charles City; two stepdaughters, Patricia Oorlog, of Burnsville, Minn., and Linda Jacobs and her husband, John, of Clinton; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

BRITT - Alice Schaefer, 85, of Britt, passed away Friday (May 14, 1999) at the Westview Care Center in Britt.

Alice Amelia Henrietta Schaefer, the daughter of Wilhelm and Clara (Schoening) Tegtmeyer, was born March 24, 1914, on a farm in Orthel Township. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

After attending the rural schools of Orthel Township, she worked at home and for various families in the area.

On Feb. 14, 1939, she was married to Herman E. Schaefer at the First Lutheran Church in Britt. They lived with his parents for a year and then moved northeast of Wesley, where they farmed until 1948, when they moved northwest of Britt. In 1966, they moved north of Britt across from the golf course. In 1982, they retired from active farming and in 1991, moved into Britt.

Alice and Herman had spent their winters in Weslaco, Texas. She enjoyed her family, friends, flower gardening, baking and traveling in their motor home.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and First Lutheran Church Women, of which she had served as president and treasurer. She was a member of the Neighborhood Club.

She is survived by her three daughters, Maxine Boekelman and her husband, Harold, of Britt, Beverly Cataldo and her husband, Dean, of Garner, and Doris Boekelman and her husband, George, of Britt; eight grandchildren, Ramona Jacobson and her husband, Michael, and their children, Jennifer, Marcus, Megan and Benjamin, of Bode, Sandy Boekelman of Mason City, Brian Cataldo and his wife, Bonnie, and their son, Sam of Garner, Dr. Brent Cataldo of Clear Lake and his fiancee, Rosie Sipple, Michael Boekelman and his wife, Kim, and their daughter, Tana, of Gowrie, Paul Boekelman and his wife, Amy, of Britt, Kristine Harding and her husband, Jeff, of Miles City, Mont., and Susie Boekelman of Minneapolis; a brother, William Tegtmeyer of Britt; two sisters-in-law, Carrie Schaefer, of Britt, and Alene Schaefer, of Rockwell; and many nieces, nephews; and friends.

Pauline G. Tarr was born Feb. 16, 1916, in Joice, daughter of Axel and Emma (Jacobson) Aasland.

Pauline grew up in Joice and attended school in Joice and Mason City. She married Emmlet Harmon and lived in the rural Joice and Lake Mills area. She then married Clarence Cline and lived in the Clear Lake area. In 1959, she married Robert Tarr and they lived in Clear Lake.

Pauline enjoyed bowling, reading, playing cards and visiting with her family and friends. She enjoyed attending her sons' sporting events.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake.

Survivors include nine children, Greg Tarr and his wife, LuAnn, of Gladstone, Mo., Pat Cline of Des Moines, Donald Harmon and his wife, Durene, of Surprise, Ariz., Richard Harmon and his wife, LaVonne, of Forest City, David Harmon Iverson and his wife, Rowena, of Woodstock, Ga., Dean Harmon and his wife, Trudy, of Blue Earth, Minn., Duaine Harmon and his wife, Ellen, of Lake Mills, Darrell Harmon of Phoenix, Ariz., and Dorene Helin and her husband, Jerry, of Austin, Minn.; one brother, Robert Ellingson and his wife, Deanna, of Los Angeles; 20 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands; two brothers, Burton Aasland and Ancel Aasland; and one sister, Myrtle Snyder.

CRYSTAL LAKE - Curtis Jumpp, 81, of Crystal Lake, died Friday (May 14, 1999) at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Crystal Lake, with the Rev. Ken Suetterlin officiating. Burial will be at Crystal Lake Cemetery, with full military graveside services conducted by the Crystal Lake American Legion.

OMAHA, Neb. - Cody James Bull, 7 year-old son of Kris Bull, 2026 1/2 Castelar Street, Omaha, Neb., formerly of Mason City, and Shane Merriman, of Omaha, died Thursday (May 13, 1999) at the University of Nebraska Hospital, Omaha.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Brewer-Korisko Funeral Home, 5108 "F" Street, Omaha, Neb.

Cody James Bull was born April 14, 1992, in Omaha, Neb., to Kris Bull and Shane Merriman.

Cody was an avid Dallas Cowboys football fan. His favorite color was blue. Cody enjoyed riding his bike and collecting football cards. He was a second grader in Omaha.

Cody is survived by his mother, Kris Bull, of Omaha, and his father, Shane Merriman, of Omaha; his grandparents, Ron and Karen Bull, of Mason City, and Mary McCall of Omaha; aunts and uncles, Jeff and Karen Bull, of Mason City, Troy and Sandy Bull, of Mason City, and Jennifer Bull of Mason City; cousins, Holly Gordon, of Mason City, Dillon Bull of Mason City, Brandon Pals, Teagon Pals and Kaley Pals, all of Mason City; his great-grandparents, Forrest and Ethel Bull, of Mason City; and a special friend, Buster.
