** Dr. Monroe 'M.P.' Allison

NORTHWOOD — Dr. Monroe "M.P." Allison, 89, of Northwood, died Thursday (Feb. 4, 1999) at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

According to his wishes, his body was cremated with memorial services at a later date. Inurnment will also be at a later date in the Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery, in Des Moines.

The family of Dr. Monroe "M.P." Allison has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Northwood Swimming Pool Fund, Maple Court Apartments in Northwood, or to the First Lutheran Church in Northwood, in his memory.

Conner Colonial Chapel, 99-11th Street S., Northwood, is in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Monroe "M.P." Allison was born on Feb. 9, 1909, in State Center, the son of James and Mae (Sherman) Allison. He attended and received his education in the State Center School System, graduating from State Center High School. He also graduated from Grinnell College and the University of Iowa Medical School in Iowa City. He interned and had a year of residency at Broadlawns General Hospital, in Des Moines.

He was united in marriage to Sue Rockafellow on June 3, 1933, in Cambridge, Ill. In May of 1937, he started practicing medicine in Northwood and continued to practice in Northwood until limiting his practice in the early 1980s, and retired from his practice in 1987, when they moved to Wabasha, Minn. Dr. Allison and his wife, Sue, had been living at the Maple Court Apartments in Northwood since 1997.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church, in Northwood, American Medical Association, State Medical Society, Worth County Medical Society, former City Health Officer in Northwood, Worth County Coroner, and the Northwood County Club.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 65 years, Sue Allison, of Northwood; one daughter, Mary Foss and her husband, Larry, of West Des Moines; one son, James Allison, of Lincoln, Neb.; two granddaughters, Nikki Kier, of Denver, Colo., and Elizabeth Foss, of Belmond; several nieces and nephews in the Marshalltown area; as well as other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James Sherman Allison and Archibald Fredric Allison.

** Louis H. Vogel

RICEVILLE — Louis H. Vogel, 87, of Riceville, died Thursday (Feb. 4, 1999) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Riceville. Burial will be in the spring at Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Conway Funeral Home, Riceville, with a Scripture service at 3 p.m. and a rosary immediately following.

Louis H. Vogel was born April 10, 1911, in Malcom.

Survivors include his wife, Doris; two daughters, Catherine Vogel, of Osage and Mary Brown, of Ankeny; two sons, David, of Riceville and Thomas, of Woodway, Texas; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.

** Selmer Nerem

RENWICK — Selmer "Sam" Nerem, 83, of Renwick, died Friday (Feb. 5, 1999) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Sandy Krynik officiating. Burial will be in Lake Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural route Goldfield, with military graveside services by Harvey-McPeak Post No. 289 American Legion.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Renwick.

Selmer was born Feb. 13, 1915 in Renwick

Survivors include three sons, Dennis Nerem and Scott Nerem, both of Renwick, and Keith Nerem, of Webster City; two daughters, Kathy Kamp, of Renwick and Wendie Nerem, of Grimes; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Aldean Shipman, of Corwith and Lucille Hoveland, of Clarion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one granddaughter and four brothers.

** Raymond Arvil Wessels

BUFFALO CENTER — Raymond Arvil "Pete" Wessels, 80, of Buffalo Center, died Thursday (Feb. 4, 1999) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the First Reformed Church, Buffalo Center, with the Rev. Bill Peake officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, with military rites by the Buffalo Center American Legion/VFW Color Guard.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Winter Funeral Home, Buffalo Center, and one hour prior to services at the church.

Raymond Wessels was born Oct. 10, 1918, in Buffalo Center.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia "Gin" Wessels, of Buffalo Center; three children, Don Wessels, of Atlanta, Ga., Pete Wessels, of Bettendorf, and Laurie Fosburgh, of Apple Valley, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; and one sister, Val Erickson, of Prescott, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

** Stewart Eppley

CHARLES CITY — Stewart Eppley, 80, of 1104 Clark St., Charles City, died Friday (Feb. 5, 1999) at Riverside Chautauqua Guest Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., Charles City, with Monsignor Stanley J. Hayek officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Hauser Funeral Home, with a 7 p.m. Vigil Scriptural Wake service at 7 p.m. Further visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services.

Other arrangements are incomplete at Hauser Funeral Home.

** Mildred Susan Kaiser

GREENE — Funeral mass for Mildred Susan Kaiser, 88, of 14092 Highway 14, Greene, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greene, with Monsignor Walter Brunkan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, in Greene.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Reid's Funeral Chapel, in Greene, with a Scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary service.

Mildred Susan Kaiser was born Aug. 24, 1910, in Lexington, Ill., a daughter of Alvyn and Della (Davis) Henline and died Wednesday (Feb. 3, 1999) at the Liebe Care Center, in Greene.

At an early age, she and her family moved near Independence, where she attended rural Buchanan Schools and graduated from the Independence High School in 1929. She was united in marriage to C.S. Kaiser at the United Brethren Church in Waterloo.

Following their marriage, they farmed near Aurora until 1941, when they moved to Grand Junction, Colo. In 1951, they moved to Greene where they have lived since. She was employed by the Greene Community School District as a bus driver for 15 years.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greene, a former member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Lucy Circle, Royal Neighbors and was a 4-H leader for many years. Her interests included flower gardening, knitting and crocheting.

Living family members include her loving husband of 64 years, C.S. "Mac" Kaiser, of Greene; two daughters and their spouses, Nancy Joan and Mike Bellomy, of Deer River, Minn., and Vikki and Sidney Sterling, of Bremerton, Wash.; two sons and their spouses, Dale and Robie, of Champaign, Ill., and Terry and Phyllis, of Black Diamond, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Roy and his wife, Ollie Henline, of Greene; two sisters, Jessie Crabb, of Lakewood, Calif., and Dorothy Richardson, of Cincinnati, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Kenneth Henline; and four half brothers, Russell, Wendell, Nelson, and Fred Henline.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Mildred Susan Kaiser Memorial Fund in care of the family.

KENSETT — Sandra Sue Thompson, 58, of Kensett, died Friday (Feb. 5, 1999) at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

** Stewart Eppley

CHARLES CITY - Stewart Eppley, 80, of 1104 Clark Street, died Friday (Feb. 5, 1999) at the Riverside Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Hauser Funeral Home, Charles City, with Monsignor Stanley J. Hayek, pastor of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Charles City.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the Hauser Funeral Home. A vigil scriptural wake service will begin at 7 p.m. and the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9 until the time of the service Monday.

Stewart Harry Eppley was born Feb. 2, 1919, at Charles City.

Living family members include his wife, Elaine, Charles City; two sons, Timothy and Rodney Eppley, both of Charles City; a daughter, Susan Klug. Des Moines; four grandchildren; and a brother, Edwin "Bud" Eppley, Clarksville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a stepbrother, and a stepsister.

MASON CITY - Debra Sue Smith, 45, of 206 First St. S. W., die Wednesday (Feb. 3, 1999) at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Fullerton Patterson-James Funeral Chapel, 123 Second St. N. E., Mason City, with the Rev. Alan Sheldon of the Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation for the public will be from 10 a.m. to the time of the service Monday at the Chapel.

Debra was born on July 19, 1953, in Mason City.

She is survived by her two sons, Michael Steinlicht, Ames, and Shane Steinlicht, Stanhope; four sisters, Mary Ann Lindsey, Wichita, Kan., Nancy Hoveland, Mason City, Norma King, Rogers, Ark., and Donna Novak, Grundy Center; and two brothers, Robert Tims, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Thomas Tims, Mason City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister.

** Sandra Sue Thompson

KENSETT - Sandra Sue Thompson, 58, died Friday (Feb. 5, 1999) at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Bethany Lutheran Church, Kensett, with the Rev. Selmer G. (Sam) Hernes officiating. Burial will be in the Kensett Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Conner Colonial Chapel, 99 Eleventh St. S., Northwood, and one hour prior to service time on Monday at the church.

Sandra Sue Thompson was born on Nov. 17, 1940, in Mason City, the daughter of Thomas and Bertha (Enter) Cookman. She received her education in the Mason City school system, graduating from Mason City High School in 1959.

She was united in marriage to Allan Thompson on June 2, 1962, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City. Sandra continued to live in Mason City while her husband was in the Air Force. When he was discharged, they moved to Kensett in 1967.

After moving to Kensett she began working for E. F. Johnson Manufacturing and also worked for Unisys Manufacturing, and until the time of her death, she worked as a machine operator for the Cole Sewell Manufacturing in Clear Lake.

She enjoyed crocheting and making afghans, but her great love and enjoyment was her family and grandchildren.

She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Kensett and was a former Sunday School and Bible School teacher and was a member of the United Teamsters Union auxiliary.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Allan Thompson of Kensett; one son, Jeff Thompson of Northwood; one daughter, Sheila Walker and her husband, Bob, of Manly; two grandchildren, Paige and Jason Walker, both of Manly; one brother, Leonard Cookman and his wife, Charlotte, of Milwaukee; three sisters, JoAnn Neely and her husband, Eugene, of California, Beverly Easley and her husband, Thomas, of Northwood, and Nancy Hendrickson and her husband, Gary, of Mason City; mother-in-law, Audrey Thompson of Kensett, and several nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and friends.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; a stepfather, Frank Angel; and a father-in-law, Arley Thompson.

** Catherine Anne Woodruff

MARBLE ROCK - Funeral services for Catherine Anne Woodruff, 73, formerly of Marble Rock, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Reid's Funeral Chapel, Greene, with the Rev. Miles Grismore of Faith Baptist Church of Mason City officiating. Burial will be in Westside Cemetery in Marble Rock.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to the time of the service Wednesday at the Chapel.

Catherine Anne Reed was born April 27, 1925, in Marble Rock, a daughter of Clifford Lynn and Wilma Maude (Wilson) Reed and died Thursday (Feb. 4, 1999) at the O'Hare Regional Rehabilitation Center in Denver, Colo.

She received her education in the country schools west of Marble Rock until the seventh grade when she began attending school in Marble Rock. Following her graduation in 1943, she attended the Gates Business College in Waterloo. For several years she worked at Rath Packing Company, Waterloo.

On Sept. 29, 1948, she was united in marriage to Wilbur Woodruff in Waterloo. They lived in Chicago for several years where their daughter Connie Kay was born. Wilbur did plumbing and construction work which moved them to several places including Charles City and Hampton. During this time Catherine was employed at the Hampton Nursing Home. They also lived in Fort Stockton, Texas, and New Orleans.

Following Wilbur's death on July 3, 1985, Catherine lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Richard.

Catherine's special hobbies were knitting, gardening and especially raising flowers.

Living family members include her daughter, Connie Kay and her husband, Richard Wilson, of Aurora, Colo.; her brother, Lloyd and his wife, Mary Reed, of Marble Rock; and several nieces, cousins, great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

CHARLES CITY - Leland Smith, 68, of 1825 Shadow Ave., died Saturday (Feb. 6, 1999) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles City.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Charles City, with Monsignor Stanley J. Hayek officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Charles City.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauser Funeral Home, Charles City. A rosary lead by St. Mary's Circle will be recited at 3 p.m. and a vigil scriptural wake service will begin at 7 p.m. followed by a rosary recited by the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the Mass on Wednesday at the church.

Leland Edward Smith was born May 13, 1930, at Lawler.

Living family members include his wife, Rose A. of Charles City; two sons, Jim Smith and Andrew Smith, both of Cedar Rapids; five daughters, Mary Smith of Cedar Falls, Kathy Kalsow of Shoreview, Minn., Teresa Bruns of Holland, Mich., Donna Lester of Slater, and Tricia Hartman of Decorah; 12 grandchildren; his mother, Mary Smith of Elma; and a sister, Mildred Rucker of Rock Falls, Ill.

Leland was preceded in death by his father and a daughter.

** Edna Meyer

GARNER - Edna Meyer, 82, of Clarion, formerly of Garner, died Saturday (Feb. 6, 1999) at the Clarion Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, Garner, with the Rev. Kay Hooper officiating. Burial will be Concord Township Cemetery, Garner.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Chapel Tuesday. Cataldo Funeral Chapel is in charge of all arrangements.

Edna Frances Meyer was born Oct. 30, 1916, in Des Moines.

She is survived by three children, Cheryl Rodriguez of Clarion, Wayne Meyer and Marvin Meyer, both of Osseo, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, a grandson, and her mother.

** Claribel Elvina Bingham

CLEAR LAKE - Claribel Elvina Bingham, 100, died Saturday (Feb. 6, 1999) at the Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, Clear Lake. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of the service Tuesday at the church. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, is in charge of the arrangements.

The family of Claribel E. Bingham has requested that memorial contributions be made to the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake in her memory.

Claribel Elvina Bingham was born on Sept. 27, 1898, in Eagle Grove, the daughter of Howard and Iona (Shepherd) Griffith. She received her elementary education in the Eagle Grove and Hampton schools, graduating from Mason City High School. She also attended and graduated with a two-year teaching certificate from Iowa State. After completing her schooling, she taught rural country schools in North Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Jay Bingham on Nov. 30, 1922, in Mason City. He preceded her in death in September 1980. After their marriage they lived in Manning until 1975 and then moved to Clear Lake.

She enjoyed singing and was the choir director in the United Methodist Church in Manning. She also enjoyed sewing and flowers, but she was best known at Christmas time for her home-made candy and cinnamon rolls.

Claribel was a member of the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Eastern Star, P.E.O. Chapter LE in Clear Lake, and was a former member of the United Methodist Church, Manning.

Left to cherish her memory are one son, Dale S. Bingham and his wife, Celia, of North Liberty; one daughter, Joyce E. Hudgens and her husband, John, of Des Moines; five grandchildren, Sherry Narusiewiez and her husband, Steven, of Oakdale, Minn., Sue Wetsch and her husband, David, of Urbandale, Jim Hudgens and his wife, Suzi, of Plano, Texas, Stephanie Bernhagen and her husband, Paul, of Kissimie, Fla., and Dirk Bingham of North Liberty; seven great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Claribel was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Bingham; her parents; four sisters; and one brother.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manly.

CHARLES CITY - John L. Howe, 100, of 1000 S. Main St., died Saturday (Feb. 6, 1999) at his home.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Charles City, with Monsignor Stanley J. Hayek officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at Roseville.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., Charles City. A vigil scriptural wake service will begin at 7 p.m., followed by a rosary recited by the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the Mass Thursday at the church.

John Leonard Howe was born March 29, 1898, in Butler County.

Living family members include two daughters, Virginia Brinkman and Evelyn Jensen, both of Charles City; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter; and a sister, Josephine Howe of Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, an infant grandson and four brothers.

** Keith Poshusta

MASON CITY - Keith Poshusta, 80, of 681 Third St. S.E., Mason City, died Sunday (Feb. 7, 1999) at his home.

A funeral Mass will be held at Noon on Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., with the Rev. Carl A. Ries and the Rev. Michael Schueller officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City, with full military honors conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, with a Scriptural prayer service at 7 p.m.

Keith Poshusta was born Aug. 10, 1918, in Mason City, son of Charles U. and Florence (Kelly) Poshusta. He married Irene Carr on June 23, 1951, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Armstrong.

Keith served in the Armed Forces during World War II and was stationed in Alaska. He worked as a journeyman electrician at Wayne Feeds for 35 years until retiring in 1983. After retirement, he was a driver for Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapels.

Keith was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of the IBEW, and a former member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Poshusta, of Mason City; two daughters, Donna Poshusta, of Richfield, Minn.; and Ann Morse and her husband, Doug, of Mason City; two grandchildren, Aaron and Abby Morse, both of Mason City; one brother, Howard Poshusta, of Chatfield, Minn.; one sister, Mary Jane Sall and her husband, Roy, of Iowa Falls; a special friend, Bill Rynda, of Montgomery, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, John; and two brothers, Jack and Don Poshusta.

** Zelma Mary Palmer

MANLY - Zelma Mary Palmer, 84, of Manly, died Sunday (Feb. 7, 1999) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Manly, with the Rev. Thomas McAndrew officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. Peter's Cemetery in New Haven.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 E. Spring St., Manly, with a public Scriptural rosary service at 7 p.m.

The family of Zelma Mary Palmer has requested that memorial contributions be made to Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City in her memory.

Zelma Mary Palmer was born on July 15, 1914, in New Haven, Iowa, the daughter of Jon and Perle (Toelle) Green. She attended and received her education in the New Haven School System, graduating from St. Mary's High School.

She was united in marriage to James William Palmer on Oct. 9, 1935, in New Haven. He preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 1993.

After their marriage they lived in New Haven, where she helped her husband in his business, the Palmer Livestock and Trucking business which they operated for 40 years before moving to Manly in the 1970s.

She enjoyed cards, loved music, cats, cooking and baking, but her great love and enjoyment was her family and grandchildren and going to their activities.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manly.

** Keith Poshusta

MASON CITY - Keith Poshusta, 80, of 681 Third St. S.E., Mason City, died Sunday (Feb. 7, 1999) at his home.

A funeral Mass will be held at noon today at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., with the Rev. Carl A. Ries and the Rev. Michael Schueller officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City, with full military honors conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association.

Visitation and scriptural prayer service was held on Tuesday at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, Mason City.

Keith Poshusta was born Aug. 10, 1918, in Mason City, son of Charles U. and Florence (Kelly) Poshusta. He married Irene Carr on June 23, 1951, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Armstrong.

Keith served in the Armed Forces during World War II and was stationed in Alaska. He worked as a journeyman electrician at Wayne Feeds for 35 years until retiring in 1983. After retirement, he was a driver for Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapels.

Keith was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of the IBEW and a former member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Poshusta, of Mason City; two daughters, Donna Poshusta, of Richfield, Minn., and Ann Morse and her husband, Doug, of Mason City; two grandchildren, Aaron and Abby Morse, both of Mason City; one brother, Howard Poshusta, of Chatfield, Minn.; one sister, Mary Jane Sall and her husband, Roy, of Iowa Falls; a special friend, Bill Rynda, of Montgomery, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, John; and two brothers, Jack and Don Poshusta.

Devin James Craig was born Jan. 26, 1989 in Mason City, the son of Duane and Sheila (Jacobsen) Craig. He was a third grader at Nora Springs-Rock Falls Elementary School.

Devin enjoyed wrestling, playing little league baseball, swimming and snowboarding. He liked playing computer games and his Playstation. Devin had a bubbly, energetic personality and was always on the go. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Devin was baptized and a member of the Sunday School at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Nora Springs.

** Adelle Lillian Harmon

LAKE MILLS - Adelle L. Harmon, of Lake Mills, passed away Monday (Feb. 8, 1999) at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Salem Lutheran Church, Lake Mills, with the Rev. Roger Dykstra and the Rev. Sara Beth Akre officiating. Interment will be in Salem Memorial Cemetery, Lake Mills.

Adelle Lillian Harmon was born at Balfour, N.D., Dec. 30, 1921, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Hove) Ferley. She was baptized on Jan. 22, 1922, and was confirmed on Pentecost Sunday, June 9, 1935, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Devils Lake, N.D., by Pastor Loftness.

The Ferley family moved to Northwood, March 1, 1935, to the homeplace of John Ferley. Adelle attended grade school in North Dakota and Iowa. She graduated from Northwood High School on May 23, 1940.

Adelle was married to Elmer D. Harmon on July 28, 1940, at Silver Lake Parsonage by the Rev. C.T. Fjelstul. They were blessed with two boys, Robert Donald and Thomas James.

Adelle was a mother and very helpful to her husband all the years they operated grocery stores, starting first Nov. 1, 1944, at the Silver Lake Store until July 5, 1955, when lightening struck their home, losing all materials.

They moved to Lake Mills March 1, 1958, and bought the store from Bowen Food Center on July of 1960. They named the store Harmon Food Center and served the Lake Mills area from 1960 to 1974. In 1968, they built the new building on North Washington and First Ave. North, having the grand opening November of 1968.

Adelle enjoyed her family and liked to bowl, square dance, and play bridge. She attended church regularly and was active in church circles.

She is survived by her husband, Elmer, of Lake Mills; two sons, Robert Donald Harmon and Thomas James and wife, Sheila Harmon, both of Bemidji, Minn.; two grandchildren, Lucimara and Edson Harmon; one great-granddaughter, Abigail Harmon; special nephew, Don and wife, Durene Harmon, of Phoenix, Ariz.; and his two children and their families, Deborah and husband, Eric Williams and their son, Michael, of Albuquerque, N.M.; Darin and wife, Teri Harmon and their children, Emily, Allison and Olivia Harmon, of Dubuque, Iowa; one sister, Lila Kindervag, of Devils Lake, N.D.; two brothers, Lester Ferley, of Pierre, S.D.; Glenn and wife, Esther Ferley, of Phillip, N.D.; two sisters-in-law, Alice Fjeld, and Avanel and husband, Sven Hanson, both of Lake Mills; one brother-in-law, Marvin and wife, Hazel Harmon, of Phoenix, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Arlene Nelson.
