** Mureen Roath

MASON CITY — Mureen Roath, 73, of 1215 Sixth St. S.E., died Tuesday (Dec. 22, 1998) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Covenant Church, Highway 18 East at Ohio Avenue, with the Rev. Rich Murray officiating. Interment will be in the Bethel Lutheran Brethren Cemetery, Joice.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

Memorials may be given to the Mureen Roath Memorial Fund.

Mureen was born April 20, 1920 in rural Emmons, Minn., the daughter of Henry and Luella (Brua) Rogness.

Mureen married Dewane Roath on Nov. 19, 1944 at the Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church, in Joice.

Mureen was a cook in the Mason City Public School system for 21 years.

She attended First Covenant Church. She enjoyed crocheting and music.

Mureen is survived by two daughters, Marlys Aus and her husband, Duane, of Detroit Lakes, Minn., and Connie Wilcox and her husband, Robert, of Mason City; son, Verlyn Roath, of Mason City; five grandchildren, Donald Aus, of Moorhead, Minn., Lonnie Hansen and his wife, Vonnie, of Detroit Lakes, Lori Mueller and her husband, Rolie, of Detroit Lakes, Robbie Wilcox, of Mason City, Christine Posekany and her husband, Greg, of Mason City; five great-grandchildren, Sara and Jessica Hansen, Ariel, Bethani and Taylor Mueller; six brothers, LaVern Rogness and his wife, Eileen, of Fergus Falls, Minn.; Richard Rogness and his wife, Agnes, of Fergus Falls; Rollin Rogness and his wife, Mary Lou, of Minot, N.D.; Glenn Rogness and his wife, Vonnie, of Fergus Falls; Burdean Rogness and his wife, Kay, of Edina, Minn.; and Kennis Rogness and his wife, Dixie, of Des Moines; two brothers-in-law, Gary Roath and his wife, Alice, of Mason City; and Boyd Roath and his wife, Grace, of Mason City; one sister-in-law, Iris DeWall, of Mason City; and many nieces and nephews.

Mureen is preceded in death by her parents, husband and one infant brother.

** Ralph Cox

MASON CITY — Ralph Cox, 84, formerly of 300 Parkridge Dr., died Friday (Dec. 25, 1998) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City.

** Josephine Allen

CHARLES CITY — Josephine (Mrs. Bill) Allen, 87, of 303 Blunt St., died Thursday (Dec. 24, 1998) at the Riverside Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., Charles City, is in charge of arrangements.

Josephine Eugenie Cutler Allen was born March 12, 1911, at Osage.

Survivors include her husband, Bill, of Charles City; two daughters, Jill Cunion, of Indianapolis, and Merideth Clelberg, of White Bear Lake, Minn.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beth Walker, of Emily, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa, Charles City.

** Komer A. Johnson

JOICE — Komer A. Johnson Sr., 81, of Nevada, died of cancer Thursday (Dec. 24, 1998) at Story County Long Term Care where he had been a resident for the past 12 days.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 1998 at the Bethany Lutheran Church, Joice, with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Concordia Cemetery in rural Joice.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, at the Chet Ryan Mortuary, in Nevada, with the family present and a 4 p.m. prayer service officiated by Pastor Tom Poppe.

A memorial fund has been established.

Komer was born on Jan. 6, 1917, in Outlook, Saskatchewan, Canada to Oscar and Mae (Dahlby) Johnson. He attended Waldorf College.

Komer married Marian Edgington on April 23, 1939, in Mason City. He was a farmer and operated a small-engine repair service.

Komer was a member of the Moose Lodge in Marshalltown and Bethany Lutheran Church in Joice.

He had been a resident of Nevada for the past 16 years, living in LeGrand and the Joice area prior.

Komer was interested in antique tractors, cars and half scale John Deere tractors.

Komer is survived by a son, Komer Johnson Jr., of Nevada; three daughters, Kay Whitman, of Cedar Rapids; Sharyl Jorth, of Webster City and Terry Seedorf, of Lake Mills; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five brothers, Alvin Tweeten, of Forest City, James Tweeten, of Lake Mills, Stanley Tweeten, of Manly, Luther Tweeten, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Maynard Tweeten, of Lake Mills; two sisters, Olive Gilbertson, of Forest City and Ruth Holtan, of Forest City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marian on Feb. 7, 1973; and his stepfather, Gilbert Tweeten.

** Joyce White

AREDALE — Joyce White, 77, of Aredale, died Wednesday (Dec. 23, 1998) at the Iowa Methodist Hospital, Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Aredale United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Connor officiating. Burial will be in the Harlan Cemetery, rural Dumont.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Dumont.

Joyce White was born Feb. 15, 1921, in Buckeye.

Survivors include her husband, Dalton White, of Aredale; two sons, Larry White, of Council Bluffs, and David White, of Des Moines; three daughters, Cheryl Peters, of Madera, Calif., Georgia Hasan, of Des Moines, and Debra Wilschutz, of Stow, Ohio; two sisters, Lela Hoffman, of Cambridge, Minn., and Eunice Simons, of Nixa, Mo.; one brother, Everett Underwood, of Calander; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, and one brother.

** William R. Sieling

RUDD — William R. Sieling, 73, of 502 Swartwood St., died Thursday (Dec. 24, 1998) at his home.

At his wish, there will be no funeral services. The Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., Charles City, is in charge of arrangements.

William Richard Sieling was born March 21, 1925, at Avon, S.D.

Survivors include his wife, Ardamae, of Rudd; a stepson, Dennis Kleen, of California; a stepdaughter, Darla Billings, of California; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

** Orel Grace Caster

CLARION — Orel Grace Mechem Caster, 96, of Clarion, died Wednesday (Dec. 23, 1998) at the Clarion Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Willim Funeral Home, Clarion, with Mark Young officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Willim Funeral Home, Clarion.

Orel Mechem Caster was born Sept. 19, 1902, at Clarion.

Survivors include her children, Patricia Lee Phillips, of Phoenix; and James E. Caster, of Tinley Park, Ill.; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Lynn Mechem, of Clarion.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother.

** Esther Hein

FOREST CITY — Esther Hein, 97, of Forest City, died Wednesday (Dec. 23, 1998) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Faith Lutheran Church, in Miller, with the Rev. Owen Gaasedelen officiating. Burial will be in Madison Township Cemetery, Forest City.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Cataldo Funeral Home, Garner, is in charge of arrangements.

Esther Sophia Hein was born Jan. 31, 1901, on a farm near Forest City.

Survivors include her daughter, Ruby Jante, of Garner; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Strachan and Lilian Persons, both of Collinsville, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandson, her parents, three sisters, and three brothers.

** Oafae Lamfers

CLARION — Oafae Lamfers, 82, of Clarion died Thursday (Dec. 24, 1998) at the Community Memorial Hospital, Clarion.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at the Chapel of Willim Funeral Home, Clarion, with Mark Young, of the Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Willim Funeral Home, Clarion.

Oafae Lamfers was born July 28, 1916, on a farm south of Kanawha, in Wright County.

Survivors include four sisters, Carrie Buseman, of Rockford, Frieda Mehus, of Austin, Minn., Gertie Paulson, of Garner, and Alice Lamfers, of Clarion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and four sisters.

** Winifred Tjaden

CHARLES CITY — Winifred (Mrs. "Jake") Tjaden, 83, of 1002 Cedar St., died Wednesday (Dec. 23, 1998) at the Salsbury Baptist Home, Charles City.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Charles City, with the Rev. Dennis D. Niezwaag officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., with the family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services at the church.

Winifred Margaret Guderian Tjaden was born Aug. 1, 1915, in Floyd County.

Survivors include one son, Craig Tjaden, of Charles City; one daughter, Janeane Christy, of Ottumwa; five grandchildren; four great-grandsons; and three step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and one brother.

Memorials may be directed to the Hospice of North Iowa, Charles City Center, or the St. John Lutheran Church, of Charles City.

** Wayne L. Bigelow

MASON CITY — Wayne L. Bigelow, 90, formerly of 9 Quincy Terrace, died Wednesday (Dec. 23, 1998) at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Des Moines.

Funeral services are tentatively set for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City, where other arrangements are incomplete.

** Glenn M. Hall

ROCKFORD — Glenn M. Hall, 86, of 111 First Ave. S.E., Rockford, died Wednesday (Dec. 23, 1998) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Fullerton Schumburg Funeral Home, 302 W. Main, Rockford.

The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where other arrangements are incomplete.

** Pauline Hamm

FOREST CITY — Pauline Hamm, 85, of Forest City, died Friday (Dec. 25, 1998) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center, Mason City.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Petersen Lund Funeral Home, Forest City.

** Betty J. Shane

GARNER — Betty J. Shane, 63, of Garner, died Friday (Dec. 25, 1998) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, after a four year struggle with cancer.

There will be no visitation. Her body will be cremated.

Memorial services are pending at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. Mason City.

** Vincent 'V.A.' Welsh

CLEAR LAKE — Vincent "V.A." Welsh, 95, of 15310 Pascal St., Clear Lake, died Wednesday (Dec. 23, 1998) at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Kenneth Hatland, of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. There will be an Odd Fellows Service prior to going to the cemetery. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Major Erickson Funeral Home and until time of services on Monday.

Other arrangements are incomplete at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

** Albert Sleper Jr.

BUFFALO CENTER — Albert Sleper Jr., 96, of Buffalo Center, died Wednesday (Dec. 23, 1998) at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the First Reformed Church, Buffalo Center, with the Rev. Bill Peake officiating. Burial will be in Olena Mound Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Winter Funeral Home, Buffalo Center, and one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.

Albert Sleper Jr. was born March 19, 1902, in Buffalo Center.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby, of Buffalo Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers and six sisters.

** Clifford R. Mott

MASON CITY — Clifford R. Mott, 89, of Mason City, died Thursday (Dec. 24, 1998) at the Heritage Care Center.

BELMOND — Mr. Carol V. Brager, 77, of Belmond, died Friday (Dec. 25, 1998) at his home.
