Mae Hillerts

CHARLES CITY 



Mae Hillerts, 95, of the Eleventh Street Chautauqua Guest Home,

and formerly of 804 Cedar St., died Friday (March 21, 1997) at

the nursing home.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Fullerton

Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., with the Rev. Jim McDonald

of Bethany Alliance Church officiating. Burial will be in the

Oakwood Cemetery.



Visitation was held from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday and further visitation

will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services today at the

funeral home.



Mae Hillerts was born Aug. 16, 1901, in rural Mitchell County.



She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, four

sisters and one brother.

Fran Fritsch

GARNER 



Fran Fritsch, 96, of Garner, died Monday (March 24, 1997) at

Concord Care Center.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St.

Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. John W. Hemann officiating.

Burial will be in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 5 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Cataldo

Funeral Chapel, 160 E. Fourth St., with a combined Catholic Daughters

of the Americas and Rosary Society rosary at 7 p.m. and a Scriptural

wake service at 8 p.m.



Alice Frances Fritsch, the daughter of Thomas and Alice (Coyne)

Theobald, was born June 21, 1900, at West Union.



After graduating from West Union High School in 1916, she attended

Upper Iowa University at Fayette, where she received her teacher's

certificate.



For five years, she taught in the rural schools near West Union

(the days when you built your own fire and carried water) after

which she pursued her education at Iowa State Teachers College

in Cedar Falls.



In January of 1925, Fran came to Garner to teach in the Junior

High. After five and a half years, she returned to West Union

to care for her parents and help establish a city library. 



On Oct. 23, 1933, she was married to Rudolph Joseph Fritsch

at West Union. They lived in Garner the rest of their lives.



In July of 1935, she became the librarian of the Garner Public

Library, a position she held for 46 years, until she retired

in 1981.



During that time, her name appeared on many programs in district

and regional libraries and organizations.



During 1979-80, she was involved and cooperated in the planning

and realization of Garner's modern library. In recognition and

appreciation of distinguished service to her community, Fran

was named ``First Lady of the Year'' by the Beta Sigma Phi international

for 1984-85.



She was also recognized in 1985 for having attended every minstrel

show, 51 in number, by the Garner Lions Club.



She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, where she

sang in the choir for many years, Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters

of the Americas since 1918, and several professional organizations.



She is survived by two nieces, Pauline McCart and Mary Ann Walton;

seven nephews, Thomas Philips, Thomas Theobald, Jack Theobald,

Richard Theobald, Jerry Theobald, James Theobald and Carroll

Theobald; and a special friend, Rose Klemm.



She was preceded in death by her husband, R.J. Fritsch, Sept.

2, 1983; her parents; two brothers, Charles Theobald and Thomas

Theobald; and two sisters, Blanche Philips and Pearl Shields.

Norris T. Michelson

KANAWHA 



Norris T. Michelson, 92, of Kanawha, died Sunday (March 23,

1997) at the Kanawha Community Home.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the

Kanawha Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David Lee officiating.

Burial will be in Amsterdam Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Ewing-Dugger

Funeral Chapel.



Norris T. Michelson was born Oct. 15, 1904, in Kanawha.



Survivors include two brothers, Ernest and Harold Michelson,

both of Kanawha.



He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and

one sister.

Edythe M. Thomas

MASON CITY 



Edythe M. Thomas, 91, of 222 S. Pierce Ave., died Monday (March

24, 1997) at Willowcreek Healthcare Center.



Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Major

Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev.

David Shogren of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.



There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.



Memorials may be given to the Edythe M. Thomas Memorial Fund.



Edythe M. Thomas was born July 14, 1905, in Charter Oak, the

daughter of Oscar and Maude (Avery) Nelson.



Edythe attended school near Charter Oak.



Edythe married G. ``Manley'' Thomas in Mason City.



Edythe worked for St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and with her husband's

family, the A.J. Thomas & Son Christmas Tree Business.



She lived a short time in Burchinal and had resided in Mason

City most of her life.



She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and a former

member of the White Shrine and the Eastern Star.



She is survived by one daughter, Shirley  Yount, Oconomowoc,

Wis.; five grandchildren, Christine Grunewald and her husband,

C.R., of Lake Mills; Polly James and her husband, Scott, Oconomowoc,

Wis.; Stephanie Sims and her husband, Chris, Ellettsville, Ind.;

Beth Last and her husband, Charles, Brookfield, Wis.; and Greg

Meier and his wife, Kathy, White Hall, Wis.; six great-grandchildren,

Tyler and Alise James, Jessica and James Sims and Corey and Connor

Last.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1959 and

one daughter, Virginia Thomas.

BELMOND 



Mary M. Faulhaber, 92, of Belmond, died Monday (March 24, 1997)

at the Belmond Community Hospital.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the

United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ken Fineran officiating.

Burial will be in the Immanuel Church Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Tenold

Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at the church.



Mary Martha (Riekens) Faulhaber, the daughter of Aielt and Martha

(DeBerg) Riekens, was born on a farm east of Belmond on Thursday,

June 23, 1904.



She attended country school through the eighth grade and was

united in marriage to Porter Faulhaber on Jan. 26, 1927, at the

Immanuel Reformed Church in Belmond.



They farmed their entire life, and Mary enjoyed crocheting,

playing cards and spending time with her family and friends.



She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Belmond,

the United Methodist Women and was active in the Goodwill program.



Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy may direct memorials

to the Mary Faulhaber Memorial Fund.



She is survived by nieces and nephews.



Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Porter; brothers,

Herman and Henry; sisters, Ella, Lottie, Nellie, Jennie and Minnie.

Donovan G. Wagner

KELSEY  



Donovan G. Wagner, 53, of 1555 265th St., Kesley, formerly of

205 Sycamore St., La Porte City, died Saturday morning (March

22, 1997) at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.



A memorial service was held 7 p.m. Monday, March 24, at the

La Porte City American Legion San Diego Post #207 in La Porte

City.



Cremation with inurnment will be held at a later date.



There was no visitation. Huisman Funeral Home, 606 Main St.,

La Porte City, Iowa 50651 was in charge of arrangements.



Memorials may be directed to Mayo Clinic Organ Donor Program.



Donovan G. Wagner was born March 29, 1943, in Fort Dodge, to

Gladney and Louella Hanson Wagner.



Donovan graduated from UNI with a degree in math and physics

and began a career in electronics by teaching at Hawkeye Tech

in Waterloo.



He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964 during the Cuban

crisis.



He was a project manager at John Deere PEC for 20 years, retiring

in 1996.



He was united in marriage to Judith Graham on June 3, 1962,

in Osage.



Donovan is survived by his wife, Judith; two sons, Christopher

D. of La Porte City, and Patrick D. of Bad Hersfeld, Germany;

two grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; his father, Gladney

Wagner of Hampton; and one sister, Delores Francis of Sioux Falls,

S.D.



He was preceded in death by his mother, Louella Wagner, and

one brother, Duane Knuteson.

Ray M. Holub, 80, of 115 S. Rhode Island Ave., died Sunday (March

23, 1997) at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis, Minn.



The body was cremated. There will be no visitation.

Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E.

Betty Lou ``Dixie'' Abel, 70, of Overland Park, Kan., passed

away Monday (March 24, 1997) at her home.

Kan. Burial will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens.

``Dixie'' was born on Jan. 3, 1927, in Belmond, Iowa, the daughter

of George and Catherine Johnson Hunst.



She graduated from Ventura, Iowa, High School in 1945 and married

Ronald Abel on March 31, 1946.



They lived in Mason City, Iowa, for 12 years, moving to Des

Moines, Iowa, for four years, moving to Mission, Kan., and then

to their present home in Overland Park.



She was a member of the Heartbeats, an auxiliary of SPEBSQSA.



Survivors include her loving husband, Ronald; and special family,

two sons, Steven and his wife, Colleen Abel of League City, Texas,

and Edward and his wife, Nancy Abel of Wellsville, Kan.; two

daughters, Jeanne and her husband, Kirk FitzGerald of Merriam,

Kan., and Joan and her husband, Mike Moore of Roeland Park, Kan.;

a brother, Raymond Hunst of Des Moines, Iowa; a sister, Marie

Schlagel of Belmond, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren;

and a host of other friends and relatives.



She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Glenn

Hunst.

Renelda A. Grady was born April 23, 1919, in rural Mason City,

the daughter of John and Ella (Hull) George.



Renelda attended Mason City Schools and was married to Dale

W. Grady on July 3, 1936, in Mason City.



Renelda was a homemaker and lived in Mason City all of her life.



She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.



She is survived by two sons, Martin Grady and his wife, Faye,

Mason City, and Ted Grady and his wife, Marie, Mason City; six

grandchildren, Kathy Arnold of Mason City; Debbie Pumphrey of

Dysart; Becky Baack of Clear Lake; Martin Dean Grady of Dinuba,

Calif.; Scott Grady of Cedar Rapids and Sara Curtis of Mason

City; seven great-grandchildren, Andrew, Candice, Benjamin, Derek,

Christian, Samuel and Sonya; one brother, Eugene George and his

wife, Elaine, Beloit, Wis.; one sister, Rose Wessels, Janesville,

Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale,

in 1996; two brothers, Carroll George and Leo Vinton; and one

brother in infancy, Carl George.

Mrs. Neva Ruby Armsbury, 84, 1001 N. Shore Drive, died Monday

(March 24, 1997) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason

City.



Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ward-Van

Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., with the Rev. Thomas

Healey of First Congregational Church officiating. Interment

will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.



Visitation will be one hour before services on Saturday.



The family suggests memorials to the Neva Ruby Armsbury Memorial

Fund.



Neva was born Nov. 16, 1912, in Clear Lake, the daughter of

Charles and Delya (Heltman) McGowan.



She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1931 and then attended

Mason City Junior College.



Neva married Arthur D. Armsbury on Nov. 3, 1934, in Indiana,

Pa.



They owned and operated Armsbury Cottages on North Shore Drive,

Clear Lake, for over 30 years. During this time, she helped her

husband operate Art's Vending Services.



Neva is survived by her husband, Arthur D. Armsbury, Clear Lake;

one daughter, Anna Dale McClaskey and her husband, Norman, Rochester,

N.Y.; three grandchildren, Kimberly A. Miller, Melinda S. Farina

and Brendan D. McClaskey; two great-grandchildren, Amanda Miller

and Mary-Margaret Miller; and her sister-in-law, Pat McGowan,

Clear Lake.



She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ray

McGowan.

Melvin Gerhard Sanden was born May 20, 1912.



Survivors include his wife, Orene, of Lake Mills; two daughters,

Marilyn Pederson of Lake Mills, and Carol Ann Gurwell of Clive;

one son, Gary Sanden of Marietta, Ga.; six grandchildren; and

four great-grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters

and two grandchildren.

Lloyal Melvin Green, 72, of 210 Chickasaw Ave., died Monday

(March 24, 1997) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason

City.

Rudd United Methodist Church, 611 Sixth St., with the Rev. Deborah

Stowers officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Sheckler Colonial

Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, and one hour prior to services

on Thursday at the church.



Lloyal M. Green was born March 19, 1925, in Charles City, son

of Clifford and Belva (Monroe) Green.



He married Mabel E. Rolfes on Nov. 21, 1942, in Rudd.



Lloyal grew up in Charles City and attended Charles City High

School.



He owned and operated the Green Service Station in Rudd for

45 years.



Lloyal was an avid fisherman.



He loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed watching

them participate in sports.



In 1988, he received the ``Keeper of the Town'' Award.



Survivors include his wife, Mabel Green of Rudd; two sons, Terry

Green and his wife, Jerry, Mason City, and Gary Green, Rudd;

two daughters, Connie Achenbach and her husband, Andy, Montezuma,

Ohio, and Debra Engels and her husband, Robert, Rockford; 13

grandchildren, Teri Chapman and her husband, Charles, San Bernadino,

Calif.; Mark Achenbach and his wife, Karen, Rockford; Tracy Green,

Mason City; Trevor Green, Kennar, La.; Tricia Green, Mason City;

Robert Green and his wife, Laurie, Rudd; Jennifer Green, Charles

City; Julie Green, Marble Rock; Jacqueline Bushbaum and her husband,

Jamie, Marble Rock; and Angie, Erin, Andrea and Daniel Engels,

all of Rockford; 10 great-grandchildren; his mother, Belva Green,

Charles City; one brother, Gayle Green, Charles City; three sisters,

Bonnie Henry, Wichita, Kan.; Dawn Volbrecht, and her husband,

Chuck, of Wichita, Kan., and Dixie Meek of Gilbert; and many

nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Green.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mason City

Senior Citizens Center, in memory of Ray M. Holub.



Ray M. Holub was born June 2, 1916, in Preston, Minn., son of

Louis and Regina E. (Tupy) Holub.



He married Catherine C. Kohl on Sept. 12, 1939, in Clarion.

She preceded him in death on Feb. 2, 1997.



Ray grew up in Cresco and graduated from Cresco High School

in 1934.



He graduated from Hamilton's School of Commerce in 1936, and

also served in the Army during World War II.



Ray moved to Mason City in 1935. He managed United Fruit Store

for 12 years and was a salesman for Gamble-Robinson for 21 years

until retiring in 1980.



He enjoyed square dancing, camping and fishing and he loved

wintering in Texas.



He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Knights of

Columbus and an active member of Mason City Senior Citizens Center.



Survivors include one son, Donald Holub and his wife, Judy,

of Copley, Ohio; one daughter, Julie Hickle and her husband,

Greg, Maple Grove, Minn.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren;

and one sister-in-law, Helen Kohl, Mason City.



He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Catherine.

at the church.



Mavis L. Hiscock was born Sept. 14, 1908, at Britt.



Survivors include three daughters, Bonnie Doughan, Dexter, Minn.;

Judy Becker, Forest City, and Jane Nielsen, Britt; five sons,

William Hiscocks, Garner; Donald Hiscocks, Britt; Dean Hiscocks,

Grand Meadow, Minn.; Monte Hiscocks, Britt, and Jon Hiscocks,

Britt; 44 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; one sister,

Mildred Hernon, Clear Lake; four half sisters, Alice Rayhons,

Bernard Fox, 85, of Spooner, Wis., formerly of the Osage and

New Haven area, died Sunday (March 23, 1997) at Fairview Riverside

Hospital in Minneapolis.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's

Catholic Church, New Haven, with the Rev. John Moser officiating.

Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.



Visitation will begin with a rosary at 3 p.m. Sunday at Champion

Funeral Home, Osage, with a 7:30 p.m. wake service. There will

also be visitation one hour prior to services at the church on

Monday.



Bernard was born Nov. 27, 1911, at New Haven, the son of Mathias

and Martha (Gilles) Fox.



He attended school at New Haven. He moved to Evergreen Township

near Spooner, Wis.



Bernard married Sarah Beatrice Spratford in June of 1932 at

Spooner, Wis.



They farmed in the Spooner, Wis., area until retirement in 1975.



For the last three years, he was a resident of Trevilla Nursing

Home at New Brighton, Minn.



Bernard was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church

in Spooner, Wis.



Bernard is survived by three sisters, Leone Fox of Colorado,

Lorraine Van Buskirk and her husband, Frances, of Washington

state, and Mary Leazer of Illinois; and two brothers, Norman

Fox and his wife, Yvonne, of Eau Claire, Wis., and Garland Fox

and his wife, Eileen, of Salida, Colo.



He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sarah; one

brother, C.W. Fox; and an infant brother.

Arthur H. Krebs was born Sept. 4, 1920 in Java, S.D., the son

of Henry Krebs and Caroline (Meier) Krebs.



Arthur H. Krebs married Marian Pesicka on June 6, 1945, in Yankton,

S.D.



Mr. Krebs served churches in Iowa and Nebraska for 37 years

retiring in 1982. He was the former pastor of First Congregational

Church, Clear Lake.



He was a member of Edwards Congregational Church, Davenport,

and the Davenport Host Lions Club.

Lloyal Marvin Green, 72, of 210 Chickasaw Ave., died Monday

(March 24, 1997) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason

Lloyal M. Green was born March 19, 1925, in Charles City, son

of Clifford and Belva (Monroe) Green.



He married Mabel E. Rolfes on Nov. 21, 1942, in Rudd.



Lloyal grew up in Charles City and attended Charles City High

School.



He owned and operated the Green Service Station in Rudd for

45 years.



Lloyal was an avid fisherman.



He loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed watching

them participate in sports.



In 1988, he received the ``Keeper of the Town'' Award.



Survivors include his wife, Mabel Green of Rudd; two sons, Terry

Green and his wife, Jerry, Mason City, and Gary Green, Rudd;

Harold C. Grier, 82, formerly of Mason City, now of Clarkston, Ga.,

died Friday (Dec. 20, 1997) in Clarkston, Ga.



Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at

Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev.

Sharon Betsworth of First United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.



There will be no visitation. The body was cremated and a previous

memorial service was held in Stone Mountain, Ga.

Harold C. Grier was born April 9, 1914, the son of James and

Gertrude (Morris) Grier in Deep River.



He moved to Mason City at an early age, graduating from Mason City High

School in 1933.



Mr. Grier served in the United States Navy during World War II.



Harold worked for Prudential Insurance Company for 25 years before

moving to Germany where he worked for several more years.



His job relocated him back to the United States to live in Georgia.



He was a member of the Atlanta Masonic Club, Knights Templar in

Minnesota, Scottish Rites in Atlanta and the Stone Mountain First

United Methodist Church in Stone Mountain, Ga.



Survivors include his wife, Gerda I. Grier, Clarkston, Ga; sons,

Norman Grier and his wife, Dayrel, Milwaukee, Wis., and John Grier

and his wife, Julie, Minneapolis, Minn.; daughters, Eleanor (Grier)

Morisette and Elizabeth Grier, both of Northfield, Minn.; stepdaughter,

Dagmar Shulte, Zurich, Switzerland; sisters, Alice Walker, Des Moines,

Mildred Creekmur, Mason City, and Phyllis Easley, Mason City; and nine

John H. Koster

LAS VEGAS, Nev.



John H. Koster, 51, of Las Vegas, formerly of the Rockwell, Swaledale

and Mason City areas, passed away unexpectedly on Friday (March 21,

1997) in Las Vegas.



John was born on Sept. 19, 1945, to William Joseph and Leona Koster in

Pomeroy, Iowa.



He graduated from Rockwell-Swaledale High School in Rockwell, Iowa.



He served in the United States Air Force for several years and then

returned to Swaledale where he had two children, Scott and Millie from

his first marriage.



He drove semi truck for UPS and then drove for  Hardee's for many years

and left that employment only after several major back surgeries.



He continued to live in the Rockwell, Swaledale and Mason City areas for

many years where he had many friends and family.



He moved to Califonria several years ago for his heatlh, then to Las Vegas

recently.



He is to be cremated according to his wishes.



His son, Scott Koster and daughter, Millie Koster, have requested

any cards and memorials be sent to them c/o Scott Koster, 230 Grove Acre,

Apt. 329, Pacific Grove, Calif 93950.



John was of the Catholic faith, therefore Masses may be given at

any Catholic Chruch, or at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rockwell,

Iowa, where he last was a member.



John is survived by his son, Scott Koster and his wife, Sasha; a

daughter, Millie Koster, and a granddaughter, Haley, of Las Vegas,

Nev.  Also surviving are sisters and a brother, Mary Bocock of Marion,

Iowa; Jeanne Fluhrer or Ventura, Iowa; Helen Biretz of Fertile,

Iowa; Karen Hennigar of Northwood, Iowa; Doris Nanney of

Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Dean Koster of Mount Vernon,

Iowa; along with many nieces and nephews, who will all sadly miss him.



He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Leona Koster; and

great uncle and aunt, John A. and Marie Miller who were as grandparents

to him.

David Alan Weltha, 68, of Ames, died Tuesday (March 11, 1997) at

the Colonial Manor Nursing Home, Zearing.



Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 14, 1997, at

the Bergen Lutheran Church, Roland, with the Rev. Conrad Rolland

officiating.



Visitation was held on Thursday, March 13, at the Adams Funeral Home,

Ames.



David A. Weltha, 68, was born April 25, 1928, in Randall. He was the

fifth of 12 children born to the late Julia and Clarion Weltha.

Five brothers and five sisters survive.



He graduated from Roland High School and went on to get a BA in music

from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., an MA in school

administration from the University of Northern Iowa, and a Ph.D.

in child development from Iowa State University in 1965.



He taught in the Department of Child Development until 1968, when he

transferred to the Department of Family Environment where he

taught family living, communication, human sexuality, and death and

dying courses until his retirement in June of 1990.



His interests were varied and non-traditional.  He gave many talks

on hypnosis, astrology, life after death, reincarnation and the

unexplained phenomena associated with healing, the occult and

parapsychology.



He was a member of the Association for Humanistic Psychology, the

Association for Transpersonal Psychology, the American Society for

Clinical Hypnosis and the American Federation of Astrologers.



He was a life member of the American Theosphical Society and the National

Education Association.



He was a past member of Arcadia Masonic Lodge adn a District Lecturer for

the Grand Lodge of Iowa.  He recently completed the AIDS Care Team training

for the Story County AIDS Coalition.



He married Margretjean Butterworth on Nov. 20, 1955 in Humbboldt.



They had three sons, Alan of Ames; Brian of Cedar Rapids; and Craig, New

York City.



Margaretjean and David separated in 1995 but maintained a strong friendship.

She and their three sons were with him in his closing hours.

Clarence,  Dougherty; one son, Bryan Way and his wife, Karen,

Overland Park, Kan.; four grandchildren, Scott and Paul Ermer, Chris

Way and Elizabeth Pettit; five great-grandchildren; and one brother,

John Krause, St. Paul, Minn.



She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, George, on

March 10, 1986; three brothers; and one sister.

David Alan Weltha, 68, of Ames, died Tuesday (March 11, 1997)

The family of Mae Hattie Reindl has requested that memorial

Mae Hattie Reindl was born on Jan. 30, 1912, in Rock Falls,

the daughter of Jess and Jessie (Boone) Coonrod. She attended

and received her education in the Rock Falls school system graduating

from Rock Falls High School.



After completing her education she began to work as a housekeeper

for various families in the North Iowa area.



She was united in marriage to Harley Reindl in May of 1939,

in Manly. He preceded her in death in May of 1981.



After their marriage, they moved to Plymouth and then moved

to Manly where she loved and cared for her family.



She enjoyed gardening, flowers, visiting with her many friends

and making trips to Colorado.



She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Sacred

Heart Rosary Society in Manly.



Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Terry Reindl of Conifer,

Colo,. and Dennis Reindl of California; one grandson, Ted Evans

of California; numerous nieces and nephews and a special great

niece, Cherrie Soderlund and her husband, Walter, of Cotton,

Minn., as well as other relatives and friends.



Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents;

two brothers, Carl and George; and seven sisters, Hazel, Blanche,

Bertha, Jeanette, Pearl, Ruth and Della.

Hilda was born May 13, 1901, in rural Aredale, a daughter of

Henry and Gertrude (Benning) Ubben.



Hilda married Steve Molencamp on June 12, 1919, in Hampton.

They farmed in the Aredale and Dougherty areas until 1939 when

they moved to Ventura, where she has lived ever since.



Hilda was a cook at Billy's Casino in Clear Lake and was known

by all for her cooking. She enjoyed doing braided rugs, tatting

and fishing.



Hilda is survived by seven children, Thelma Ziesmen and her

husband, Russell, of Sheffield; Carol Buck and her husband, Jim,

of Clear Lake; Russel Molencamp and his wife, Lou, of Friedley,

Minn.; LeRoy Molencamp and his wife, Billi, of Rogers, Minn.;

Ronald Molencamp and his wife, Carole, of Des Moines; Larry Molencamp

and his wife, Sonja, of Clear Lake; and Sharon Quintus and her

husband, Gordon, of Ventura; 36 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren;

3 great-great-grandchildren; and a special sister-in-law, Mae

Reed, of Dumont.



She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, who died

in September of 1969; five brothers; four sisters; one daughter,

Maxine; two sons, Robert, and infant son, Kenneth; and one granddaughter,

Marcie.

Jim J. Jung was born Feb. 19, 1030, in Charles City, Iowa, a

son of Leonard and Genevieve Jung.



Jim served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.



He retired after 29 years with White Farm Equipment Co. in Charles

City and then continued to work part time for Cyclone Courier

Co.



He was a member of Advent Lutheran Church and a member of the

American Legion.



Survivors include his spouse, Donna Jung of Arlington; a son,

Steven L. Jung of Mason City, Iowa; a daughter, Julie Ward of

Duncanville, Texas, a brother, Gary Jung of Weaverville, N.C.;

four grandchildren, Jason Jung, Jenna Jung, Justin Ward and Lindsey

Ward; and a beloved dog, Maggie.



He was preceded in death by his parents.

David J. Nelson

MANKATO, Minn.  



David J. Nelson, 74, of 113 Dillon, Mankato, Minn., formerly

of Clear Lake, died Monday (February 10, 1997) at New Braunfels,

Texas.



Interment will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 3, at Woodland

Hills Cemetery in Mankato with a memorial service to follow at

11:30 a.m. at Christ The King Lutheran Church, 207 McConnell

St., Mankato, Minn.



David J. Nelson was born, March 25, 1922, in Clear Lake, son

of Elmer E. and Lucy Nelson.  He graduated from Clear Lake High

School in 1940.  David graduated from Welding Trade School, Shakopee,

Minn. in 1941 and for the summer of 1942 he was employed with

Duesenberg Construction Co. in Alaska during the construction

of the Alcon Highway.  He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in December,

1942, and completed officer's training in February 1943.  During

World War II, David proudly served as an Army Air Force Pilot

over England, France, and Belgium with the 554th Bomber Group.

He received an honorable discharge on Jan. 20, 1946.



On Oct. 8, 1945, David was married to Wanda Carr at Zion Lutheran

Church in Clear Lake.



He was a salesman for P.A.X. Steel Co., Coldwater, Ohio, until

his retirement.  He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran

Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and the Elks

Club.



Survivors include his wife, Wanda of Mankato, Minn.; two daughters,

Linda Kiesling and her husband Roger of Helena, Mont. and Sherry

Preusse and her husband Scott of Redwood Falls, Minn.; two sons,

Bruce of Everett, Wash. and Brent and his wife Elizabeth of Houston,

Texas; 10 grandchildren, three sisters, Iris Anderson and her

husband Wesley of Joice, Rosemary Fjelstul and her husband Leslie

of Charles City, and Donna Smith and her husband Merle of Rochester,

Minn.



He was preceded in death by his father in 1970, his mother in

1984, and his brother Ronald in 1983.

William F. ``Mac'' McCloskey was born March 8, 1917 at Prairie

du Chien, Wisc. He grew up and attended schools in Mason City.



He joined the National Guard and at the start of World War II,

entered the U.S. Army, in which he served for eight years, receiving

the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for his service.  He served

in the 133rd Red Bull Division, Fifth Infantry.



William F. ``Mac'' McCloskey was married to Margaret A. O'Donnell

on Feb. 11, 1941 at Mason City.



He was employed by Higley Cold Storage in Mason City for 25

years.



``Mac'' loved to go on camping and fishing trips with his sons.

 He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.



He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #733, Mason

City. He was also a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.



Survivors include six daughters, Big Dee Dee Wood of Nora Springs;

Patty Faught and her husband, Pat, of Des Moines; Peggy Luna

of Mason City; Mary Heaberlin and her husband Tom of Mason City;

Little Dee Dee Bailey and her husband Marv of Klemme; Debbie

Ytzen and her husband Bob of Clear Lake; three sons, Tom McCloskey

and his wife, Lisa, of Des Moines; John McCloskey and his wife

Vicky of Rockford, and Pat McCloskey and his wife Francie of

Rockwell; twenty-seven grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren;

Jena Danielle Mills was born Oct. 6, 1986 in Mason City, the

daughter of Paul and Brenda (Olson) Mills.  Jena was in the 4th

grade at Madison Elementary School.  Jena was very strong spirited,

lending her strength to others throughout her illness. She touched

many hearts and made friends wherever she went.  She was a very

special child who had a deep love for family and friends. She

was a fun child who loved to tease and play pranks.  Jena shared

many special times with her parents, brother; Brent, family,

and playing with her friends.  She spent many hours doing crafts

to give as special gifts.  She loved playing with her babies

and collected Precious Moments.  She enjoyed family gatherings,

attending school and going to Bingo. Jena had two pets; a dog

named Buttons and her cat, Bows.



Survivors include her parents, Paul and Brenda Mills of Mason

City; one brother, Brent at home; maternal grandmother, Gen Olson

of Mason City; maternal grandfather, Maynard Olson of Mason City;

paternal grandparents, James and Agnes Mills of Cedar Rapids;

maternal great-grandparents, Erna Harder of St. James, Minn.

and Hazel Olson of Madelia, Minn.; and several aunts, uncles

and cousins.
