Verna A. Drake

CLEAR LAKE 



Verna A. Drake, 76, formerly of 804 First Ave. N.,  died Thursday

(Oct. 24, 1996) at the Good Shepherd Health Care Center, Mason

City.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran

Church, 112 N. Fourth St., with the Rev. Kermit  Roisen officiating.

Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.



Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial

Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., and one hour prior to services at

the church on Monday.



Verna A. Drake was born Oct. 9, 1920, at rural Forest City,

the daughter of Valentine and Hazel (Heard) Kiefer. Verna lived

in Clear Lake for 37 years. She moved to Good Shepherd in 1993.



When Verna first came to Clear Lake, she made custom woven rugs

as a home business. After a few years, she began working at Hansen's

Clothing Store in Clear Lake.



She was next an employee of Singer Sewing Center in Mason City

for many years. After her retirement from Singer, she did alterations

for several Clear Lake clothing stores.



Verna enjoyed going to garage sales, and liked to do handy-work

such as needlepoint and quilting.



She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.



She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, and

belonged to a women's circle.



Survivors include three children, Judith Whitesides, of Shelby,

N.C.; Patricia Werstein and her husband, Glenn, of Swaledale;

and Randel Drake and his wife, Marty, Annapolis, Md.; five grand-

children, Wayne Whitesides, Daryl Whitesides and Roy Whitesides,

of North Carolina; Dan Werstein of Clear Lake; and Angela Mireki

and her husband, Louis, of Coos Bay, Ore.; two great-grandchildren;

two brothers, Clifford Kiefer and his wife, Jewel, of Lime Springs,

and Robert Kiefer and his wife, Marge, of Clear Lake; and three

sisters, Ruth Erven of Britt; Wanda Johnson, Forest City; and

Francis Adams and her husband, Robert, of Forest City.



She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Drake, in

1975; and three brothers, Charles, Donald and Shirley Kiefer.

Mark `Monty' Miller

BRITT



Mark ``Monty'' Miller Jr., 68, of Britt, died Thursday (Oct.

24, 1996) at the Hancock Memorial Hospital.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the United

Church of Christ, with the Rev. Harlan Stenberg officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Ewing

Funeral Chapel, and one hour prior to services at the church.



Mark Miller Jr. was born Nov. 16, 1927, in Des Moines.



Survivors include his wife, Mildred, of Britt; one daughter,

Sue Nelson of Britt; three sons, Jim Miller, John Miller and

Skip Miller, all of Britt; 11 grandchildren; and one brother,

Larry Miller of Okoboji.



He was preceded in death by his parents.

Shawna Heginger

FOREST  CITY



Mrs. Allan (Shawna) Heginger, 31, of Forest City, died Friday

(Oct. 25, 1996) at the Willow Creek Health Care Center, Mason

City.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary

Baptist Church, with the Rev. Doug Farrell officiating.



Burial will be in the Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme.



Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Petersen

Lund Funeral Home.



Shawna Heginger was born July 21, 1965, in Toledo, Ohio.



Survivors include her husband, Allan Heginger of Forest City;

one daughter, Coleen, of Forest  City; two sons, Dustin and Robert,

both of Forest City; her mother, Peggy Lowery of Clear Lake;

her father, Robert Collins of Toledo, Ohio; one sister, Maria

Harrell of Clear Lake; and one brother, Robert Collins of  Toldeo,

Ohio.



She was preceded in death by three grandmothers and four grandfathers.

Esther Faye Spratt

GREENE



Funeral services for Esther Faye Spratt, 90, of Greene, will

be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church,

with the Rev. Galen E. Smith and the Rev. David Stockeland officiating.



Burial will at 1 p.m. in Sunnyside Memorial Gardens, Charles

City.



Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Reid's Funeral

Chapel, with a 7 p.m. public prayer service.



Esther Faye Dicus was born Dec. 29, 1905, in Anthon, a daughter

of Thomas and Carrie (Clark) Discus, and died Friday (Oct. 25,

1996) at the Allison Care Center.



She received her education in the Anthon School System. Following

graduation, she worked as a waitress in a restaurant in Anthon.



On Oct. 13, 1939, she was united in marriage to Richard T. ``Jack''

Spratt in Anthon. They made their home in the North Iowa area

until they settled in Greene in 1946.



Esther worked as receptionist for Greene Rendering Co. for many

years.



Following her husband's death, she volunteered at the Nutrition

Center of Greene for approximately 16 years.



Esther was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church

in Greene, and its many circles. She was also a member of the

Rebekah Lodge.



As a pastime, she enjoyed gardening and taking part in church

activities.



Living family members include three daughters and their spouses,

Marylyn Earnest and her husband, George, of Cedar Rapids; Judith

Schlitter and her husband, Duane, of Pittsburg, Pa., and Melita

Selph and her husband, Willard, of Warner Robins, Ga.; five sons,

James Spratt and his wife, Donna, of Greene; Draper Spratt and

his wife, Leola, of Harpers Ferry; Roger Spratt and his wife,

Karen, of Mesa, Ariz.; John ``Jack'' Spratt and his wife, Rosemary,

of Webster City; and Howard Spratt and his wife, Myrna, of Lexington,

Ky.; 25 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Jerry; parents;

seven sisters; and three brothers.



Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials

to the family.

GOLDFIELD



George R. Anderson, 86, of Goldfield, died Wednesday (Oct.

23, 1996) at Mercy Hospital Medical Center, Des Moines.



Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Holmes

Evangelical Lutheran Church, Holmes, with the Rev. Carlton Shaw

officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion.



Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday

at  Willim Funeral Home, Clarion.



George R. Anderson was born Aug. 22, 1910, at Leland, Ill.



Survivors include two sons, Richard Anderson, Fort Dodge, and

Vernon Anderson of Apple Valley, Minn.; nine grandchildren; 20

great-grandchildren; two brothers, Norvel Anderson of Clarion,

and Roger Anderson of Independence; and seven sisters, Julia

Swenson of Belmond; Gladys Spainhower of Clarion; Betty Delger

of Clarion, Mildred Smith,  Belmond; Helen Busick of Clarion;

Ruth Lamfers of Salena, Kan., and Arlene Smith of St. Cloud,

Minn.



He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two brothers

and one infant brother.

Bertha M. Tollefson

ST. ANSGAR



Bertha M. Tollefson, 78, of St. Ansgar, died Wednesday (Oct.

23, 1996) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center, Mason City.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First

Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Robert Porisch officiating. Burial

will be in  First Lutheran Cemetery.



Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Schroeder

& Sites Funeral Home.



Bertha M. Tollefson was born April 27, 1918, in Bergen, N.D.



Survivors include two sons, David, of Lamberton, Minn., and

Ray of Macon, Ga.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren;

several stepgrandchildren; several stepgreat-grandchildren; and

one sister, Gladys DePin of Marengo, Ill.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son,

twin grandchildren, four brothers and three sisters.

Robert E. Draeger, 67, 1808 S. Wilson Ave., died Thursday (Oct.

24, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.



Funeral services are tentatively set for 1 p.m. Monday at Fullerton

Patterson James Funeral Chapel, 123 Second St. S.E.



Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Monday at the chapel, where

other arrangements are incomplete.

Dean Lashbrook

OSAGE



Dean Lashbrook, 76, of Osage, died Thursday (Oct. 24, 1996)

at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.



Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Champion Funeral

Home,  with the Rev. Dennis Hanson officiating. Burial will be

in the Osage Cemetery, with military rites at the grave by the

American Legion Post #278 of Osage.



Visitation will begin after 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.



Dean Lashbrook was born May 14, 1920, in Osage.



Survivors include one brother, Kenneth Lashbrook and his wife,

Mildred, of Osage; one sister, Bethel Durby and her husband,

Marlo, of Lake Mills; and many nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sammie.



Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.

Merle R. Waters

CHARLES CITY 



Merle R. Waters, 77, died Saturday (Oct. 26, 1996) at his home.



Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Trinity

United Methodist Church with the Rev. J. Larry Vallery officiating.

Burial will be in the Sunnyside Memory Gardens. Military honors

will be conducted at the graveside by the Charles City Ceremonial

Unit.



Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hauser Funeral

Home, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation

will continue from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home,

and one hour prior to services at the church.



Merle Robert Waters was born Oct. 31, 1918, in Alta Vista.



Survivors include his wife, Alice, of Charles City; three sons,

David Waters of Northwood, Kevin Waters of Charles City, and

James Waters of Des Moines; one daughter, Barbara Crawford of

Cedar Falls; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four sisters,

Juanita Burns of Clear Lake, Elsie Ray of Lakeside, Calif., Velva

Brown and Edythe Nauman, both of Mason City; and two brothers,

Tom Waters of Lees Summit, Mo., and Herbert Waters of Alta Vista.



He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one

sister.

Mary Ann Krause, 67, formerly of Clear Lake, died Friday (Oct.

25, 1996) in Orlando.



Funeral services will be held at a later date. There will be

no visitation as the body has been cremated. Baldwin-Fairchild

Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.



Mary Ann Krause was born Oct. 29, 1928, in Des Plaines, Ill.



She was a member of Midwest Club, Womans Club, Single Club,

P.E.O., Tri Delta, Womans Golf Association, and a member of the

Alter Guild at St. Mathews Episcopal Church.



Survivors include her mother, Mary Alexander of Wagoner, Okla.;

two sons, Mark Krause and Scott Krause, both of Orlando; and

two daughters, Kim Haddow of Gainesville, Fla., and Karen Gates

of Orlando; one sister, Jane Krause of Tuscon, Ariz.; one brother,

James Morse of Long Beach, Calif.; and five grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin.

Betty Tibbitts, 57, died Saturday (Oct. 26, 1996) at her home.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the St.

John Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dennis Niezwaag

and the Rev. Karen Rask Behling officiating. Burial will be in

Sunnyside Memory Gardens.



Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hauser Funeral

The family suggests memorials be given to Heart to Home Hospice

of Charles City.



Betty Lou Wilson Prochaska Tibbitts was born March 3, 1939,

in New Hampton.



Survivors include her husband, Arvin, of Charles City; two daughters,

Kim Koebrick of Charles City, and Corinne Stacy of Ionia; two

step-sons, Richard Tibbitts of Charles City, and David Tibbitts

of Nashua; two step-daughters, Karen Hagarty of Ames, and Joyce

Boehmer of Charles City; her mother, Arlene Wilson of Charles

City; and two brothers, Robert Wilson of Charles City, and Jerry

Wilson of Apple Valley, Minn.; four grandchildren; eight step-

grandchildren;

and two step-great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her father.

Robert E. Draeger was born Oct. 14, 1929, in Mason City.

Harold W. Draeger of Mason City; and three grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one brother.

Helen Blake, 88, died Friday (Oct. 25, 1996) at the Stacyville

Community Nursing Home.



Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Visitation

Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Schneider officiating. Burial

will be in Visitation Cemetery.



There will be a 3 p.m. rosary at the Visitation Church hall,

with a scripture service at 8 p.m. Hatten and Son Funeral Home

is in charge of arrangements.



Helen Blake was born Aug. 4, 1908, in Meyer.



Survivors include six sons, Willard and Roger, both of Stacyville,

Donald of Essex, England, Charles of Kenosha, Wis., Walter of

St. Ansgar, and Pat of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; 20 grandchildren;

and five great-grandchildren.

Florence Mennen

CEDAR FALLS 



Florence Mennen, 101, died Friday (Oct. 25, 1996) at Covenant

Medical Center, Waterloo.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at  Bethel

Presbyterian Church, Waterloo.  Burial will be in Garden of Memories

Cemetery, Waterloo.



Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.



One hundred and one years ago, on March 16, 1895, on a farm

south of Aplington, in Grundy County, Florence Deters was born

to Hinderikus and Gertje (Zimmerman) Deters.  Florence was the

youngest of eight children, having three brothers and four sisters,

and was the only survivor in her immediate family.



The Deters family lived on a farm south of Aplington where Florence

attended rural school.  Her father died in 1912.  When Florence

was 17 years of age, the family moved to Aplington, where she

continued living at home until the time of her marriage.



Florence attended and was baptized at the West Friesland Presbyterian

Church, southeast of Ackley, where she started to attend Sunday

school at the age of 4.



On Oct. 22, 1915, at the age of 20, Florence married Ecko Mennen.

To that union were born 11 children: Florence, Ecko, Gertrude,

Elva, Richard, Gordon, Eunice, Cecil, Delores, Imogene and Rosalind.

The family farmed in the Butler, Grundy  and Franklin county

areas until they moved to Waterloo in 1945, when her husband,

Ecko, began working for John Deere.



Ecko Mennen died on July 9, 1976, and Florence remained in her

home in Waterloo, until she was 97 years of age.  At that time

she became a resident of the Western Home in Cedar Falls, where

she was a resident until her death.



Survivors include 11 children, Florence Janssen, widow of Isebrandt,

of Ackley, Ecko and his wife, Helen Mason, of Waterloo, Gertrude

Neymeyer and her husband, Benjamin, of Waterloo, Elva Drier,

widow of Virgil, of Waterloo, Richard and his wife, Dixie Geiler,

of Mason City, Gordon and his wife, Patricia Cornelius, of Mason

City, Eunice Kuhn, widow of Harold, of Charles City, Cecil and

his wife, Evelyn Fischer, of Conesville, Delores Weston Herington

and her husband, Robert, of Hopkinton, Imogene Moyle and her

husband, Harford, of Springfield, Mo., and Rosalind Andreassen

of Waterloo, 35 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren, and 12

great-great-grandchildren.

Dale D. Brown, 70, died Saturday (Oct. 26, 1996) at North Iowa

Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Sietsema-Vogel

Funeral Home.  Burial will be in the Allison Cemetery.



Dale D. Brown was born June 28, 1926, in Taylorville, Ill.



Survivors include his wife, Elaine Brown of Allison; two sons,

Michael D. Brown of Chariton and W. David Brown of Marshalltown;

three daughters, Bernita D. Norine of Fort Dodge, Jaime D. Helmus

of Rock Valley and Charlene D. Fink of Lee's Summit, Mo.; 11

grandchildren; and one brother, C. Gordon Brown of Pana, Ill.



He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.

Frances Cleveland

EAGLE GROVE 



Frances E. Cleveland, 80, died Saturday (Oct. 26, 1996) at Trinity

Regional Hospital, Fort Dodge.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Evangelical

Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove, with the Rev. Alice Horton officiating.

Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.



Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Willim Funeral

Home in Eagle Grove.



Frances E. Cleveland was born on May 15, 1916, at Elmore, Minn.



She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Fischer of Kanawha

and Edwina Claude of Clear Lake; one son, Gary Cleveland of Hazen,

N.D.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother,

one sister and one granddaughter.

Yvonne (Bonnie) Ellefson

CLEAR LAKE 



Mrs. Yvonne (Bonnie) Ellefson, 60, of 7496 315th St.,  Clear

Lake, died Saturday (Oct. 26, 1996) at the Oakwood Care Center.

Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake. The family suggest memorials

to the Yvonne (Bonnie) Ellefson memorial fund.



Bonnie was born June 30, 1936, in Bolan, the daughter of Ernie

and Laura (Braun) Prohaska.  She graduated from West High School,

Waterloo, in 1954.  Bonnie married Earl Prestholt in 1955 and

they lived in Clear Lake.  She worked for several years in Easters

and for Schneiders Metal in Mason City.  Bonnie married Vern

Ellefson Jr. May 8, 1982, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua.



Bonnie enjoyed sewing, playing bingo, her animals, most of all

her grand kids, and was great supporter of Clear Lake Little

League.  Bonnie has been battling with MS since 1968.



Bonnie is survived by her husband, Vern Ellefson Jr. of Clear

Lake; one daughter, Joyce Hill of Clear Lake; two sons, Vernon

Ellefson II of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Robert Ellefson of Mason City;

one sister, Fern Miller of Clear Lake; two brothers, Glenn Prohaska

and his wife, Peggy, of Cedar Rapids and Jerry Prohaska; her

Annie Borger was born Sept. 1, 1917, in Mason City, the daughter

of Lawrence and Jadwiga (Kosinska) Szymeczek.



Annie and her husband, Fred, operated the Borger Grocery for

15 years.



Annie also worked at Mode O'Day, Mason City Tent & Awning and

S.S. Kresge Co.



She was nominated for the North Iowa Mercy Silver Advantage

Award in 1994.



Annie was an avid member of R.S.V.P., volunteered at Good Shepherd

and was a member of the Senior Citizens Center where she was

chairperson of the Quilting Club.



Annie also was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and loved

sewing quilts.



Survivors include four children, Joe Borger and his wife, Thelma,

of Mason City; John Borger and his wife, Judy, of Mason City;

Joan Pierce and her husband, Donavon Jr., of Oskaloosa, and Jimmy

Borger and his wife, Judy, of Mason City; 11 grandchildren; three

stepgrandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild;

two brothers, George Szymeczek and his wife, Edna, of Rosenberg,

Texas, and Frank Szymeczek and his wife, Suzy, of Washington,

Evelyn Rosamond Schaper was born on Dec. 16, 1914, the daughter

of Joseph M. and Grace (Worth) Trayer in Mednon Township, Clayton

County.



She attended and received her education in the St. Joseph Catholic

Schools in Mason City, graduating from St. Joseph Catholic High

School in 1932.



She was united in marriage to Gordon A. Schaper on Feb. 20,

1935, in Mason City and had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary

in 1985. He preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 1991.



She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed sewing.



She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran  Church, Lutheran

Women's Missonary League, Tabitha Circle, Bible leader and was

active in making quilts for the Lutheran World Relief, all in

Mason City.



Survivors include one daughter, Deanna Hinz and her husband,

Richard, of Fairfax, Va.; three sons, Dr. Gary Schaper and his

wife, Shirley, of St. Louis, Mo.; Donald Schaper and his wife,

Carla, of Boulder, Colo., and Ronald Schaper and his wife, Jane,

of Kirksville, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren;

one sister, Helene Wisner and her husband, Edwin, of Mason City;

and one brother, Joseph Trayer and his wife, Fannie, of Garnavillo;

as well as other relatives and friends.



Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents;

one brother, John Trayer; and one sister, Fern Rethwisch.

Edna C. Dougherty was born June 19, 1900, in Dougherty, daughter

of Barney and Ella Dougherty. She grew up in Dougherty and graduted

from St. Patrick's Catholic School.



Edna owned and operated  Hollywood Beauty Shop in Mason City

for 65 years until retiring at the age of 93. Her 1929 hairdresser's

license was one of the earliest issued in the state of Iowa.



She loved the outdoors and was an avid sports fan.



Survivors include one sister, Gladys Dougherty, of Dougherty;

and four cousins, Liz Dougherty of San Diego, Calif.; Molly Critton

of Madison, Wis., and Dan and Barney Dougherty, both of Dougherty.



She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Marie

Gert married Ralph K. Peterson on June 6, 1937, in Mason City.



She was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for

25 years, retiring in 1968.



Gert was an active member of DAR (Daughters of American Revolution),

the North Central Iowa Genealogical Society, the 29er's and Telephone

Pioneers. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.



She enjoyed gardening, reading, playing cards and Scrabble and

visiting with family and friends.



Survivors include two sons, Jon Russell Peterson and his wife,

JoAnne, of Mason City, and Robert Kuehn Peterson and his wife,

Jeannine, of St. Ansgar; one daughter, Patricia Anne Lavold and

Esther Jane Beal was born March 7, 1922, in Clear Lake, the

daughter of Charles Leroy and Goldie (Howard) Mitchell. She married

Raymond Voss in 1943. He was killed in action in World War II.

She then married John D. Beal on April 27, 1946, at the Little

Brown Church in Nashua.



Esther grew up in Clear Lake and attended Clear Lake Schools.

She worked 11 years at the Mason City Country Club. She then

worked nine years at Wal-Mart in the lawn and garden department

which carried over to her love of flowers. She enjoyed sitting

on her patio and sharing the view with family and friends.



She was a member of the Women of the Moose for many years. She

was a member of First United Methodist Church.



Survivors include two daughters, Jerrilea Voss and Sharon Madsen,

both of Mason City; two grandchildren, Aaron Madsen, and Aimee

Bjerke and her husband, Jason, all of Mason City; two great-grand-

children, Jordan and Andrew Bjerke, both of Mason City; two sisters,

Ruth Farrow of Perham, Minn., and Kathryn Ekborg of North Bend, Ore.;

several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

Gilbert Ambrose Osier was born June 1, 1918, on the Osier family

farm in Union Township, Floyd County, a son of George Edward

and Mary Magdalene (Katcher) Osier, and died Tuesday (Oct. 29,

1996) at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.



He received his education at the St. Mary's School at Roseville

and as a young man worked for his father on the farm. On April

26, 1941, he was united in marriage to Bethel Irene Lines at

Roseville. To this union were born four children. He continued

to farm and work part time at the Floyd Crossing Elevator until

1959 when he became employed by the Oliver Tractor Works, later

White Farm Equipment. That following year they moved to Charles

City. He worked in the Heat Treat Department until his retirement

in 1980. Shortly thereafter they moved to Aredale where he worked

with his son-in-law for two years, and then moved into Marble

Rock. In 1993 he moved to Waukon to live near his daughter.



Gip was a life-long faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church

of Roseville, Farm Bureau, and a member of the U.A.W. His favorite

past time was fishing and watching baseball. He was an avid Cubs

fan. In the winter months he enjoyed trapping and fox hunting.



Living family members include two daughters and their spouses,

Nancy and Beryl Richard of Aredale, and Jeanette and Roger Ruegnitz

of Waukon; two sons, Tom and Linda Osier of Charles City, and

Martin and Donna Osier of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren,

Michelle and Russ Osier, Chris, Carmen and Susie Osier, Alisa

Guthrie, and Alex and Dana Ruegnitz; one great-grandson, Drew

Osier; and four sisters, Laura Frascht of Greene, Magdalene Popes

and Mildred Koenigsfeld, both of Charles City, and Catherine

Fox of Clovis, Calif.



He was preceded in death by his wife, Bethel, on Dec. 26, 1989;
