Raymond L. Bohnsack

MASON CITY  



Raymond L. Bohnsack, 88, of 511 15th St. N.W., died Thursday 

(June 1, 1995) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday  at Hogan-Bremer 

Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with the Rev. Merlin J. Ackerson 

of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in 

Clear Lake Cemetery.



Visitation will be held after 3 p.m. Sunday and until time of 

services Monday at the funeral chapel.  Memorials may be given 

to the Raymond L. Bohnsack Memorial Fund.



Ray was born May 25, 1907, at Botna, a son of Herman Bohnsack and 

Matilda (nee) Stuhr Bohnsack.  



He married Zola Hommerding on Dec. 14, 1933, at Mason City.  

Ray worked at the former Jacob E. Decker & Sons 

Meat Packing Plant part time for several years.  Later he worked 

at Northwestern States Cement Company for 33 years before retiring.



He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mason City.  Ray 

will be greatly missed by his family and friends. 



He is survived by his wife, Zola Bohnsack of Mason City; one 

daughter, Linda Karsjens and her husband, Marvin, of Mason City; 

two grandchildren, Ryan Karsjens and Kari Karsjens, both of 

Mason City; one sister, Doris Arndt of Mason City; a special 

brother-in-law, Nick Homerding and his wife, Mary, of El Reno, 

Okla.; and many nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and 

two sisters.

Harley Glen Bublitz

GRAFTON 



Harley Glen Bublitz, 55, of rural Grafton, died Thursday 

(June 1, 1995) at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn,. as a 

result of injuries he received in a one-vehicle accident.



Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Emmanuel Lutheran 

Church in Grafton, with the Rev. Gregory Bjornstad officiating.  Burial 

will be in St. John's Cemetery, rural Grafton, with military graveside 

honors by the Grafton American Legion Post.  Friends may call from 

3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at  Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 E. Spring St., 

Manly, and one hour prior to service time on Monday at the church.



Harley Glen Bublitz, was born on Aug. 5, 1939, in Osage, the son of 

Harvey A. Bublitz and Irene (nee) Ingersoll Bublitz.  He was 

baptized on Sept. 17, 1939, and confirmed on May 24, 1953, at the 

Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton.



He attended and received his education in the rural Union Township 

school system graduating from Grafton High School in 1956.  After 

completing his formal education, he worked with his father on the 

family farm one mile north and two miles east of Grafton and 

continued to farm on the family farm  until the time of his death.  



He was inducted into the United States Army during the Vietnam 

Conflict serving six months on active duty and six years, six months 

with the Army National Guard in Charles City.



He was united in marriage to Carolyn Swenson on June 15, 1974, in 

Albert Lea, Minn.  He had a great sense of humor and was always 

willing to help out friends and neighbors.  He enjoyed fishing, 

hunting, loved the outdoors, and farming, but his great love and 

enjoyment was his family as he was a loving son and father.  He was 

a lifelong member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton, 

former property committee member and church council member, trustee 

of Union Township in Worth County, Grafton volunteer fire department 

and a member of the American Legion in Grafton.



He is survived by a daughter, Lisa Bublitz of Albert Lea, Minn.; 

a son, Eric Bublitz and his wife, Elinore of Austin, Minn.; 

his mother, Irene Bublitz of Grafton; a sister, Gloria Stevenson 

of Charles City; five nieces, Dawn Ganson of Elma; Joleen Dugan 

and Connie Vreize, both of Floyd; Janice Schmidtke of Mason City 

and Valerie Stevenson of Charles City; two grandnephews and 

two grandnieces as well as a host of other relatives and friends.



He was preceded in death by his father, Harley Bublitz, who died on 

Nov. 12, 1986; and his grandparents.

Helene Gabelmann

RICEVILLE 



Helene Gabelmann, 72, of Riceville, died Friday (June 2, 1995) at 

Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.  Funeral services 

will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Congregational United 

Church of Christ in Riceville, with the Rev. Robert Fegan 

officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.  Friends may call 

from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lindstrom Funeral Home.



Mrs. Gabelmann was born March 8, 1923, in Charles City, the daughter 

of Frank Meinzer and Violet (nee) Wilson Meinzer.  She was baptized 

and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charles City.  She was 

a graduate of Charles City High School.



She married Walter Gabelmann on Feb. 20, 1946, at St. John's Lutheran 

Church in Charles City.  From 1947 to 1959, Helene and Walt made their 

home in Powersville.  In 1959 they moved to Riceville.   Helen was a 

bookkeeper and business partner with her husband, Walt.



Survivors include her husband, Walt, of Riceville; a daughter, 

Ruthann Irvin and her husband, James Irvin, of Riceville; 

three grandsons, Jason, Jeremy, and Jeff Gansen of Riceville; 

and one sister, Mildred Cummings of Keokuk.



She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mildred Nitz, 76, of Lakota, died Thursday (June 1, 1995)  at 

North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.  Funeral services 

will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral 

Home, Bancroft, with the Rev. Herold Heupel officiating.  Burial will 

be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Lakota.  Visitation will be from 

9 a.m. until time of services Monday at the funeral home.



Mildred Nitz was born Aug. 8, 1918, in Carroll.



Survivors include one daughter, Linda Larson of Cresent; 

a stepdaughter, Deloris Winter of Blue Earth, Minn.; three sons, 

Roger of Austin, Texas; Virgil of LeMars and Frank of Olathe, Kan.; 

11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and 

two brothers.

Todd Allan Berger

Todd Allan Berger, 32, of Rock Falls, formerly of Clarksville, 

died Thursday (June 1, 1995) at home.  Funeral services will be 

held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, Clarksville. 

Burial will be in Lynwood Cemetery, Clarksville.  Visitation will 

be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Schwartz Funeral Home, Clarksville, 

and 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday.



Memorials should be directed to the family.



Todd Allan Berger was born May 18, 1963, in Waterloo.



Survivors include one son, Seth Alan Berger of Rock Falls; his 

parents, Keith and Janice Berger of Clarksville; one  brother, 

Tony Berger of Clear Lake; one sister, Amy Rottink of Clarksville; 

and his maternal grandmother, Verbena Brown of Waverly.



He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather and paternal 

grandparents.

Mabel S. Madson, 91, of Northwood, died Thursday (June 2, 1995) 

at North Memorial Hospital, Robbinsdale, Minn.  Funeral services 

will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Silver Lake Lutheran Church, 

rural Northwood, with the Rev. Randy Nielsen officiating.  Burial 

will be in Silver Lake Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. 

Sunday at Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home, Highway 65 South, 

Northwood.



Mabel S. Madson was born Sept. 26, 1903, in rural Freeborn County, Minn.



Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn Johnson of Stewartville, Minn.; 

one son, Lorren Madson of Isle, Minn.; eight grandchildren; and six 

great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and 

two brothers.

Margaret B. Tower

CHARLES CITY  



Margaret B. Tower, 89, of El Cajon, Calif. and formerly of 

Charles City, died Friday (May 26, 1995) at the Sharp Grossmont 

Hospital, La Mesa, Calif., of a heart attack.  Graveside commital 

services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Sunnyside Memory Gardens, 

rural Charles City, with the Rev. John G. Bissett, senior pastor, 

Trinity United Methodist Church, Charles City, officiating.



Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City, is in 

charge of funeral arrangements.



Mrs. Tower, the former Margaret Bernice (nee) Wickham, was born 

April 7, 1906 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur Wickham

and Ami Zet (nee) Moore Wickham.  She moved to Frederick, S.D., as 

a young child.



On January 26, 1928, in Aberdeen, S.D., she married 

Dale R. ``Curley'' Tower. The couple made their home in Charles City 

in 1929, when Mr. Tower came to work for the former Hart Parr 

Tractor Factory. Mr. Tower died Sept. 13, 1977, in Rochester, Minn. 



Mrs. Tower moved to New Hampton shortly thereafter, and a year 

later, moved to El Cajon to live with her daughter.  Mrs. Tower was 

a member of the former Rebekkah Lodge in Charles City.



Living family members include a daughter and her husband, 

Dalene and George Thompson of El Cajon, Calif.; two brothers, 

Charles Wickham of Seattle, Wash., and Robert Wickham of 

Searcy, Ariz.; a sister, Bertha Dotay of Ellendale, N.D.; 

a grandson, Dale Thompson of Oceanside, Calif.; 

seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, 

Leonard Wickham and Raymond Wickham; and a granddaughter, 

Denise Thompson Bird.

Donald R. Dorenkamp

MASON CITY 



Donald R. Dorenkamp, 63, of 319 1/2 S. Delaware Ave., died Monday 

(June 5, 1995) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the 

First United Methodist Church, Thornton, with the Rev. Jim Gochenouer 

and the Rev. Vic Groh officiating.  Burial will be in the 

Pleasant View Cemetery, Thornton.  There will be no visitation. 

Grarup Funeral Home, Sheffield, is in charge of funeral arrangements.



Donald R. Dorenkamp was born on Jan. 30, 1932 in Thornton, Iowa, the 

son of Jacob Dorenkamp and Elsie (nee) Knoll Dorenkamp.   

He attended school in Thornton and graduated with the class of 1949.  

Following graduation he worked at the Thornton Locker until attending 

the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls for two years.  He 

worked for Deckers Packing House in Mason City for 10 years until 

moving to Torrence, Calif. where he worked for the United States 

Postal Service for 13 years. 



In 1979 he moved to Clear Lake, where he held various jobs until 

1985 when he started Donald's Coins in Mason City, which he operated 

until retiring. In his spare time he enjoyed playing golf.



He is survived by four sisters, Marian ``Sally'' Peck of Bountiful, 

Utah, Beverly Harmon of Nampa, Idaho, Shirley Cockram of Sheffield, 

and Janice Vert of Austin, Texas; two brothers, Richard Dorenkamp

of Thornton, and Daryl ``Butch'' Dorenkamp of St. Louis, Mo.



He was preceded in death by his parents.

Evan L. Breeding

ROCKWELL  



Evan L. Breeding, 94, of 213 Main St., Rockwell, died Saturday 

(June 3, 1995) at the Rockwell Care Center.  Funeral services will 

be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Rockwell Congregational Church. 

Officiating will be the Rev. Kathleen King.  Interment will be in 

the Rockwell Cemetery.  Visitation for the public will begin at 

5 p.m. today at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 120 S. Third St., Rockwell. 

Those planning an expression of sympathy may choose to direct their 

memorials to the Rockwell Library.



Evan was born on Sept. 1, 1900, the son of Paul Breeding and 

Maude (nee) Campbell Breeding. 



He was born in Dekalb County, Ill.   He is a graduate of 

Rockwell High School receiving his diploma in 1919.  He graduated 

from Iowa State Teachers College with a B.A. and a Master's degree 

in teaching.  Evan also attended Creighton College, and received a 

diploma in Bible study from Texas Bible College.  He was a history 

and economics instructor in Baxter and Percival and was a football 

and basketball coach in Jesup. He taught for over 40 years and 

retired from the Jesup School System about 1965.



At that time he returned to Rockwell and has spent the rest of his 

life there.  He was very proud to train and raise German Shorthair 

retrievers.  As a boy scout commissioner for over 18 years, he 

organized various scout troops.  He was an avid outdoorsman and 

enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending many happy times at his 

cabin in Minnesota.



Evan is survived by his sister, Edris M. Hobson, Rockwell; and 

two nieces.



He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Stanley Breeding, 

his sister, Cleo Woodward and her husband Ken, and his sister's 

husband, J.H. Hobson.

J. Byron `Red' Behrends

ROCKFORD 



Services for J. Byron ``Red'' Behrends, 82, of Buffalo Center, will 

be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the North Prairie Lutheran Church, 

Leland, with the Rev. Ervin Hesterberg officiating.  Interment will 

be in East Lawn Cemetery, Algona.  Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. 

today at Schumburg Funeral Home, Rockford, with a 7 p.m. prayer 

service.  There will be further visitation from 9 a.m. until service 

time on Wednesday at the church.



Mr. Behrends was born Oct. 15, 1912 at Seneca, Iowa, and passed 

away Monday (June 5, 1995) at the Salsbury Baptist Home, Charles City.

Byron was the son of Ornie Behrends and Lizzie (nee) DeMarese 

Behrends.  He served in the United States Army during World War II.  

Byron farmed in the Thompson-Buffalo Center area from 1947 until 1968.

He was united in marriage to Emma E. Schueler on Aug. 30, 1950 

in Albert Lea, Minn.



Byron is survived by one daughter, Elaine Batton of Lakefield, Minn.; 

two sons, Richard Casler of Leland, Iowa, and Donald Casler of 

Rockford; one brother, LaVern and his wife, Margaret of Kansas City, 

Mo.; four sisters-in-law, Nila Behrends of Owatonna, Minn., 

Leona Behrends of Kandiyohi, Minn., Lita Behrends of Topeka, Kan., 

and Florence Behrends of Lone Rock, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; and 

12 great-grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Emma; 

two sisters, Leona Behrends, and Lucy Neilsen; six brothers, 

Ornie Behrends, Seibelt Behrends, Joe Behrends, Vincent Behrends, 

Roy Behrends, and Gary Behrends; and one grandchild.

Walden C. Tweeten

Walden C. Tweeten, 65, of Forest City, died Sunday (June 4, 1995) 

at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.  Funeral 

services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Immanuel Lutheran 

Church, Forest City, with the Rev. Lee Laaveg officiating.  Burial 

will be in Oakland Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. 

today at Petersen Lund Funeral Home.



Walden C. Tweeten was born Oct. 23, 1929 on a farm near Forest City.



Survivors include his wife, Darlene Tweeten of Forest City; 

three sons, Bennie Tweeten of Forest City, Dennis Tweeten, and 

Terry Tweeten of Forest City; three grandchildren; two sisters, 

Arlene Grimm of Davenport, and Katherine Larson of Arizona; and 

two brothers, Lehman Tweeten and Orval Tweeten, both of 

Forest City.



He was preceded in death by his parents.

Elvene C. Streit, 93, of Algona, died Saturday (June 3, 1995) at 

Cedar Rapids.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday  

at St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Algona, with the Rev. Steve Brodersen 

officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.  Visitation will 

begin at 3 p.m. today at Geilenfeld-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, 

Algona, with a 3 p.m. parish rosary and a 7:30 p.m. parish prayer 

service and at 10 a.m. Wednesday there will be a family prayer service.



Elvene Streit was born Oct. 1, 1901 at Emmetsburg.



Survivors include two sons, Michael Streit of Cedar Rapids, and 

Dr. Charles Streit of Yorba Linda, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 

seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lorraine Morling of Emmetsburg.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters, 

one great-grandson, two brothers, and one half-sister.

Robert Pals, 72, of Crystal Lake, died Monday (June 5, 1995) at 

North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.  Funeral services 

will be held at 10:30 a.m.  Thursday at First Reformed Church, 

Alexander, with the Rev. Gerald Norman officiating.  Burial will be 

in Alexander Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. 

Wednesday at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Hampton.



Robert Pals was born Sept. 24, 1922 in rural Alexander, Franklin County.



Survivors include two sons, Robert H. Pals of Meservey and 

Richard A. Pals of Alexander; one daughter, Deborah Vestweber of 

Alexander; six grandchildren; and two brothers, Else Pals of 

Alexander, and Joe Pals, of Orient.



He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jean W. Turvold

AUSTIN, Minn.



Jean W. Turvold, 73, of Austin, Minn. died Monday (June 5, 1995) 

at the Austin Medical Center, Austin.  Funeral services will be 

held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, 301 First St. N.W., 

Austin. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 

3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Worlein Funeral Home, 1801 Fourth St. N.W., 

Austin, Minn. and one hour before services at the church.



Jean was born April 1, 1922 in Lake Mills, Iowa to 

James Neste and Hannah (nee) Ringestad Neste.  

She was raised in Albert Lea, and lived in Austin.



She married Leighton Turvold on April 27, 1939 in Northwood.  She was 

a member of the St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Austin. She taught Sunday school.



Survivors include her husband, Leighton Turvold of Austin, Minn.; 

two daughters and their husbands, Cynthia and Wayne Moretz of 

Bozeman, Mont., and Lana and Roger Epley of Austin, Minn.; 

five grandchildren, Belinda Leister and her husband, John of 

Bozeman, Mont., Rodd Moretz and his wife, Christy, of Fairbanks, 

Alaska, Sarah Epley, Todd Epley, and Anne Epley, all of Austin, 

Minn.; three great-grandchildren, Amy Leister, Ben Leister, and 

Nicholas Leister, all of Bozeman, Mont.;  one sister, Lillian Kaasa 

and her husband, Alerd, of Austin, Minn.; two brothers, Palmer Neste 

and his wife, Leota of Waseca, and Kenneth Neste and his wife, Dolly, 

of Waseca; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.



She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and three 

brothers.

Leslie John Snyder

MASON CITY 



Leslie John Snyder, 84, of 1808 Main St., Gowrie, Iowa, formerly of 

Mason City, died Monday (June 5, 1995)  at Gowrie Care Center.  Funeral 

services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran 

Church, 329 E. State Street, with the Rev. James B. Norem officiating. 



Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 

4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. 

with a White Shrine service at 7 p.m. followed by Masonic Services 

conducted by Benevolence Lodge #145 A.F. & A.M. There will be further 

visitation one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.



Leslie John Snyder was born Feb. 22, 1911 in Wright County, Iowa, 

the son of George W. Snyder and Lillian (nee) Jacobs Snyder.

 

The Snyder family moved to Mason City in 1917 and Les 

attended schools there.



He married Lillian May Brunsvold on Dec. 7, 1930 in Mason City.



Les was employed by Armour's for 43 years working as a ham boner.  He 

retired in 1973 and then performed custodial work at First Presbyterian 

Church and St. Paul Lutheran Church here in Mason City.  Les was a 

member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for over 62 years, a member of  

Benevolence Lodge #145 A.F. & A.M., Eastern Star, and White Shrine. 

He was very active in Boy Scouts having received his Silver Beaver and 

Lamb Awards.



Survivors include his wife, Lillian May Snyder of Gowrie, Iowa; sons, 

Duane L. Snyder of Saudi Arabia, and the Rev. Marlin E. Snyder and 

wife, Gretchen, of Moorland, Iowa; four grandchildren, Lisa Schultz, 

Leslie D. Snyder, Cindy Snyder, Shelly Fender; and five great-

grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; two brothers, 

and two grandchildren, Philip and Steven.

Helen E. Wistey

CLEAR LAKE 



Helen E. Wistey, 91, of Livingston, Mont., died early Monday morning 

(June 5, 1995) at the Livingston Health and Rehab Center of natural 

causes.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the 

Franzen-Davis-Bebee Chapel, with the Rev. Harlan Durgan, minister of 

the Livingston Congregational Church officiating.  Cremation will follow 

the services and burial of her remains will be in Clear Lake, Iowa.



She was born Sept. 22, 1903 at Clear Lake, Iowa, the daughter of 

Chris Hansen and Christine (nee) Johannessen Hansen.  



She graduated from high school in Clear Lake and from Hamilton 

Business College in Mason City, Iowa.  After working for a brief 

time at the state legislature in Des Moines, she returned to Clear 

Lake and worked as a secretary for attorney, E. B. Stillman, 

the Imperial Seed Company, Stuart Realty and the United Home 

Bank in Mason City.  Her secretarial skills were superlative and 

she could type 120 words per minute without errors. 



She was also a skilled baker, which she learned from her mother, who 

had been chef to one of Denmark's kings.



She married Almer Lloyd Wistey in 1939. She had made her home in 

Clear Lake until moving to Livingston in 1983 to be closer to her 

son and his family.  She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church 

in Clear Lake and a friend of the Congregational Church of Livingston 

and its pastor.



Survivors are one son, David Wistey and his wife, Chris Wistey and 

three grandsons, Mark, Chad and Eric Wistey all of Livingston. 



She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Axel.

Raymond R. Poppen

ALLISON  



Raymond R. Poppen, 81, of Allison, died Monday (June 5, 1995) at 

Waverly Muncipal Hospital, Waverly.  Funeral services will be held 

at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Allison United Church  of Christ, 

with the Rev. Paul Schultz officiating.  Burial will be in Allison 

Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the 

Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Allison.



Raymond R. Poppen was born Feb. 17, 1914 in rural Butler County.



Survivors include his wife, Lillian Poppen; one brother, 

Leland Poppen of Mapleton, Minn.; three sisters, Clara Aissen 

of Allison, Phylis Shock of Waterloo, and  Gladys Ray of 

Granite City, Ill.



He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and five sisters.

Glenn C. Dickirson

LAKESIDE, Calif. 



Glenn C. Dickirson, 91, of Lakeside, Calif., died Tuesday 

(May 30, 1995) at El Cajon, Calif.  The body was cremated.  Neptune 

Society, Lakeside, Calif. was in charge of arrangements.



Glenn C. Dickirson was the grandson of James Dickirson who founded 

Clear Lake, Iowa.  At one time the Dickirson family owned many 

lakeshore properties along Clear Lake.



He was the son of W.H. and Mary Dickirson of Clear Lake.  He was 

born on March 5, 1904 in Thompson, Iowa.  Clear Lake City Park was 

donated to the City of Clear Lake by the Dickirson family.  Glenn 

Dickirson was a graduate of the University of Iowa and worked for 

J.C. Penney Company for 21 years.  After leaving Penney's he opened 

a clothing (women's sportswear) shop in Waseca, Minn., and had that 

business until moving to California in 1958. He continued in the 

retail business until retiring at the age of 79.



He is survived by his wife, Terry; one daughter, Patricia Lyon 

of Minneapolis, Minn.; two sons, Richard J. Dickirson of 

Grand Prairie, Texas, and David Dickirson of El Cajon, Calif.; 

six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his oldest son, James Dickirson.

Margie M. Lesch

OSAGE 



Margie M. Lesch, 82, of Osage, died Tuesday (June 6, 1995) at the 

Faith Home in Osage of natural causes.  Funeral services will be 

held at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church of Osage, with 

the Rev. Clark Christian officiating.  Burial will be in the 

Osage Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today at 

the Champion Funeral Home, Osage, and one hour before services 

at the church.



Margie was born March 4, 1913 near Osage in Mitchell County, the 

daughter of John Pickering and Emma (nee) Wright Pickering.  

Margie graduated from Osage High School and secured her teacher's 

certificate at Iowa State Teacher's College, now U.N.I.  



On Aug. 1, 1935, she married Ralph Lesch.  The couple made their home 

in Osage where they lived until Margie's death.  Margie taught school 

and formed her own private kindergarten and later nursery school.  

The school provided early childhood education for many Osage children 

for over 40 years.  Now some of her same equipment is being used by 

the Growing Tree School at Our Savior's Lutheran Church.



Margie was also involved in farming operations in Mitchell County.  She 

was a member of United Methodist Church where she was active many years 

in the church school and the United Methodist Women on the local and 

district level.  She was an active member of the Osage Women's Club 

for many years.  In 1966, the ``Press-News'' honored her as an 

outstanding citizen.



In 1977 she was honored for outstanding contributions to the 

Hereford Auxiliary substantiating her devotion to the family 

cattle operation.



She is survived by her husband, Ralph of Osage; and one daughter, 

Kay Williams of Charles City.



She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother in infancy.

Delbert L. Kinnan

TALENT, Ore.  



Delbert L. Kinnan, 75, of Talent, Ore., died Wednesday (June 7, 1995) 

in Talent.  Hillcrest Funeral Home, Medford, Ore., is in charge of 

arrangements.



Delbert L. Kinnan was born March 11, 1920, to Raymond and Gertrude Kinnan 

in Jackson, Minn.  He moved to Mason City in 1929 and lived in this area 

until 1967 when he moved to California and later to Oregon.



He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, of Talent; a son, Larry Kinnan 

of Mason City; six grandchildren;  four great-grandchildren; a special 

nephew, Dale Kinnan of Talent; and many other nephews and nieces.



He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers;  four sisters; 

a daughter, Marlene (Kinnan) Winters; and a grandson, Randy J. Winters.

Martha L. Stanton

GREENE 



Martha L. Stanton, 92, of 204 S. Main St., died Tuesday (June 6, 1995) 

at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.  Funeral services 

will be held at noon on Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greene, 

with Monsignor Walter Brunkan officiating. Burial will be in 

St. Mary's Catholic Church.  Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. 

today at Reid's Funeral Chapel, Greene, with a 7:30 p.m. scripture 

service.



Martha Stanton was born Aug. 9, 1902 outside of Greene, Iowa, the 

daughter of Charles Maxwell and Augusta ``Abendroth'' Maxwell.  

She graduated from the Greene High School in 1920 and taught 

country school for several years.



She was united in marriage to Ambrose Stanton on April 18, 1928 

at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greene.  They farmed southwest of 

Greene for many years.  Martha enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing 

cards and church activities.  She was a member of the Catholic 

Daughters, St. Jude's Circle and west Side Club.



She is survived by five sons, Charles Stanton and his wife, Elsa 

of Greene, Thomas Stanton and his wife, Susan of Huntington Beach, 

Calif., Harry Stanton and his wife, Mary Irene of Mason City, 

Roger Stanton and his wife, Janice, of Greene, and James Stanton 

and his wife, Janice of Bellevue, Neb.; two daughters, 

Bernita Stanton of Greene and Harriet Clabough and her husband, 

Loren of Cedar Falls; 19 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son, 

Billy Joe Stanton; one grandson, Gregg Clabough; two brothers; and 

three sisters.
