Julie Mau
January 27, 2009
Julie A. Mau, 57, of Klemme, died on Sunday, January 18,
2009, at the Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, following a
courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services were held
on Saturday, January 24, at the Klemme United Methodist
Church, with Rev. Donna Buckman officiating. Burial was in
the Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.
Julie Ann, the daughter of Roland and Luella Theimann Yakel,
was born on March 11, 1951 at Klemme. She was baptized on
April 1, 1951 by Rev. Vernon Jaberg and confirmed in 1966 by
Rev. Geo. Behrens. Julie attended Klemme Schools where she
participated in music and art, graduating in 1969. Shortly
after graduating she moved to St. Paul where she lived for a
time with her aunt. While in the Twin Cities she was
employed at the Deluxe Check Corporation for 20 years. She
married Eugene Pasch and they had son, Trevor and daughter,
Mandie. Four years later Kathryn was born. Julie and Eugene
were eventually divorced. She later moved back to Klemme,
where she made her home for the remainder of her life.
Julie married Danny Mau and they spent many wonderful years
together and took many business trips. Julie and Danny were
divorced in 2003, but their bond for one another remained
strong. Julie was employed with A & I in Klemme from 1995
until 2005, when she retired from the company due to poor
health.
Though she had been employed for much of her life, the
vocation she relished the most was being a mom, grandma and
homemaker. Her children, grandchildren, siblings and other
family were foremost in her life. She strived to provide for
their needs and was proud to recognize them in any
accomplishments, no matter how large or small. Julie looked
forward to family celebrations and loved to celebrate
birthdays with her sister. She looked forward to visits with
her family in South Dakota and recently had made this trek
even as her health declined rapidly. Her family and friends
will miss her upbeat personality, heartwarming smile, the
twinkle in her eyes, and her gift of making others
feel good, even when she was not in the best of health.
Julie's gift and love for art. She shared this in creation
of many things, including a drawing of the Klemme United
Methodist Church for it's Centennial. Her skill, eye and
attention to detail led her to handcraft, cross-stitch, and
design pillow cases, wall hangings and other items. She
would often design her own decor or go shopping and return
to create her own innovations for the items she
had purchased. Her family remembers Julie's fondness for the
color red.
Julie was a long time member of the Klemme United Methodist
Church, where she served as church treasurer and Sunday
School Teacher. As she faced cancer, she dove deeply into
her Bible studies and became very passionate in her faith.
Those who had the privilege of having Julie in their life
will remember her caring ways, uplifting attitude,
humbleness and unselfish compassion. She gave to many
organizations and causes but was not one who needed the
spotlight or recognition of her deeds and giving. One of her
most priceless gifts was how to face terminal illness and
bumps in the road with dignity and determination.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include son, Trevor Roland (Darla) Pasch of
Yankton, South Dakota; daughters, Mandie Sue (Noah) Reed of
Kanawha and Kathryn Marie Turnbull of Klemme; grandchildren,

II of Urbandale and Danielle (Connor) Mau-Sear and their
