Maxine G. Maland

January 3, 2006

Maxine Maland, 90, of Charles City, died on Tuesday, January 3, 2006, at the Floyd County Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 7, at the St. John Lutheran Church in Charles City, with Revs. Dennis Niezwaag and David Werges officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Maxine Gladys, the daughter of Cryder and Nettie Wicks, was born on September 26, 1915. She graduated from the Kanawha High School in 1933, where she played basketball, acted in school plays, sang in musicals, co-directed the local 4-H club, taught Sunday School, and was pianist at the St. John's Lutheran Church. She received her teaching certificate at the University of Northern Iowa and taught in the country school house near her home.

On June 23, 1940, Maxine married Kanawha resident and recent graduate of the ISU Veterinary College, Dr. Paul Maland. They settled in Charles City.

Maxine was very active in the community, committees at the St. John Lutheran Church, a Sunday School and Bible School Teacher, WELCA, PTA, Boy and Girl Scouts, hospital auxiliary, reading assistant at Jefferson School, P.E.O., and Women's Club.

Her work as a hospice volunteer was very important to Maxine, and she and her husband were recognized as Hospice Volunteers of the Year in 1993. She was nominated for State of Iowa Mother in 1974 for her role as mentor to a young mothers group.

She was known for her kringla, raspa kumla, apple pie and potato salad. She attended many concerts and sporting events involving her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Maxine was preceded in death by her brothers, Orville, Everett and Raymond Wicks; and nephew, Randy Wicks.

Survivors include her husband; daughters, Judy and Kip Hauser, Laurie, Rebecca and Stephen; Janet and Roger Hanson of Fenton, Missouri, Kristen and Kurt; Jeanine Maland of Asheville, North Carolina and Molly; sons, Jim and K. D. Maland of Brattleboro, Vermont, Emily and Tyler; Jerry and Jane Maland of Harrison, Arkansas, Justin, Jenny, Jeff and Jessica; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lavonne Nosbusch of Los Angeles and Carole Basler of Thousand Oaks, California; and sister-in-law, Imogene Wicks of Belmond.

Fannie Lindaman

January 12, 2006

Fannie Lindaman, 94, formerly of Waterloo, and most recently a resident of the Belmond Care Center, died on Tuesday, January 3, 2006.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 7, at the Grace Reformed Church in Waterloo, with burial in the Garden of Memories.

Fannie Flesner, was born on January 2, 1912 in rural Grundy County, the daughter of Henry and Rixtelena Emkes Flesner. She was baptized at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wellsburg.

On April 29, 1936, she married Fred J. Lindaman at the family home in Aplington. They made their home in Waterloo, where they were charter members of the Grace Reformed Church. Fannie, a homemaker, was active in Reformed Church Women and was Treasurer of the Sunday School for many years.

Fannie took great joy in entertaining friends and family in her home, and there was always room for those who had no family. There were many special people in Fannie's life whom she loved and cared for. She made certain she had each one's favorite food when they came to visit.

In 1997 Fannie moved to the Belmond Health Care Center.

Fannie was preceded in death by her husband in 2000; sister, Gesina Tjaden; and brother, Harm Flesner.

Survivors include her son, Richard (Joan) Lindaman of Humboldt; daughter, Fonda (Doug) Thompsen of Belmond; sisters, Rena DeBoer and Henrietta Nevenhoven, both of Aplington; grandchildren, Matt (Kara) Lindaman of Holmen, Wisconsin, Ben (Erica) Lindaman of Clarion, Jon Lindaman of Urbandale, Ashley (Michael) Jorgensen of Ames and Lindsay Thompsen of Johnston; and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Marissa and Cole Lindaman.

Helen M. Smith

January 12, 2006

Helen M. Smith, 99, of Belmond, died on Thursday, January 5, 2006, at the Belmond Health Care Center.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 10, at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home in Belmond, with Pastor Mike Druhl officiating. Interment was in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Janet Pals was organist and Maxine Whitty was soloist. Honorary casket bearers were Danny Lowenberg, Greg Smith, Tami Paysinger, Zackery Smith, Joshua Smith, Jim Brand, Kyle Smith and Patrick Johnson. Casket bearers were Cathy Korthas, Pamela Cisco, Justin Helgeland, John Smith, Judy Daily, Junior Peck, Douglas Lowenberg and Dennis Lowenberg.

Helen was born on October 31, 1906, on a farm near Beacon, Iowa, the daughter of Harvey and Nellie Bowen Malone. Her early life was spent on a farm near Eddyville, where she attended country school and graduated from the Eddyville High School in 1925. While in her teens she joined the Congregational Church and the Y.W.C.A. Following high school she attended nursing school in Oskaloosa.

Helen married Harold L. Smith of Britt on May 1, 1930. The family lived in Britt, Clear Lake, Lacona, Pleasantville, Wesley, and Belmond, as well as Stewartville, Minnesota and Kahoka, Missouri. Most of their life was spent on the farm, where Helen enjoyed working with the soil. She loved the outdoors and all of its wonders. Helen's life was devoted to caring for her large family.

In 1972 the couple retired in Belmond. She had been a resident at the care center since October 1996.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1979; brothers, Homer and William Malone; sister, Ada Hafferman; and great-grandson, Anthony Lowenberg.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Charlotte Smith of Belmond, Mildred (Ray) Lowenberg of Belmond, Dorothy Brand of Clear Lake, Joan (Bob) Dankbar of Clear Lake, Linda Smith of Mason City and Kathleen (Tom) Godden of Mason City; sons, Robert (Mary) Smith of Youkon, Oklahoma, Harvey (Susan) Smith of Prescott, Arizona and Stanley (Nancy) Smith of Stanwood, Washington; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Linda Boelman

January 17, 2006

Linda Boelman, 56, of Mason City, died on Thursday, January 5, 2006, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, following a battle with cancer.

Funeral services were held on Monday, January 9, at the First United Methodist Church in Mason City, with Rev. Jim Stiles officiating. Interment was in the Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City.

Linda Ann, was born on July 15, 1949 in Mason City, daughter of Peter James and Eunice Maxine (Weber) McCauley. She attended school in Postville and McGregor, graduating from the McGregor High School in 1967.

Linda attended the Winona Secretarial School, passed the Certified Professional Secretary national exam, received her Associate Degree from North Iowa Area Community College, and completed one semester of classes at Iowa State University.

Linda and Stanley Boelman were married on April 19, 1980.

Linda was employed at the Mercy Medical Center North Iowa for 16 years in the human resources department. After the birth of her children, she chose to become a "stay at home mom". Sixteen years later she reentered the work force and was employed at Mason City Hall as a human resources clerk the past six years.

Linda was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Mason City High School Band Advisory Board, the benevolent board at her church, and the PTO. Linda was an avid reader, enjoyed quilting, treasured holidays and family gatherings, and liked traveling with her family, especially their trip to Hawaii.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband; daughter, Michelle (Bryce) Rosel of Johnston; son, Steve Boelman of Clear Lake; sister, Carol (Tom) Flaherty of Mason City; nieces, Jessica and Jennifer Flaherty of Mason City; and parents-in-law, Bud and Marie Boelman of Belmond.

Ann Wilson

January 12, 2006

Ann Wilson, 77, died of cancer on Friday, January 6, 2006, at her home.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday morning, January 11, at the Altoona United Methodist Church. Another service will be held on Friday, January 13, at 10:30 a.m., at the Belmond United Methodist Church. Interment in the Belmond Cemetery is planned for Memorial Day weekend.

Ann was born on August 18, 1928 in Newell. She graduated from the Belmond High School in 1946 and attended Shimer College. She married Cleo Wilson on June 25, 1950. Ann was employed for 16 years as a columnist and news editor by the Belmond Independent. She was a community activist with many causes, including the United Methodist Church, Democratic Party, Eastern Star, American Cancer Society, Boy Scouts of America, Belmond Arts Council, and various literacy programs. She embraced the philosophy of "Think globally, act locally" and strongly believed in serving one's community.

Her artistic talents took many forms, early in life with drawing and painting, and later with wood carving, story telling and photography. She was an avid quilter and was instrumental in starting several quilting groups, including one at the Altoona church that has now been named the Ann Wilson Quilters. Having sewn all her life, quilting was something she could still do even when she lost her vision

Ann loved to travel and saw much of the world. She toured five cities in the Soviet Union and attended the 1980 Moscow Olympics. In 1986 she and Cleo visited son, Tom in Belize, while he was in the Peace Corp. They also went to Guatemala. Over the years she visited some of Belmond's exchange students in their home countries, including England, Sweden, and Brazil. She first went to Mexico on mission trips with the United Methodist Church. In 1995 she returned to Mexico to see her eldest son married. She also loved domestic travel, and last May flew to San Francisco for her grandson's wedding.

Ann (and Cleo) also helped bring the world to Belmond by hosting exchange student "sons" Johan Fremling of Sweden, Marcio Olivera of Brazil and Kenny Maxwell of Chicago.

The Wilsons moved to Altoona in 1995 to be nearer to their grandsons.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Marjorie Hemmingsen; husband; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Ramirez Wilson; and granddaughters, Mollie and Vickie Wilson.

She is survived by her sons, Tom of Chicago, John of Baltimore and Richard (Melissa) of Pleasant Hill; grandchildren, Grant and Nyal Wilson of Pleasant Hill and Jennifer and Mark Lanett of San Francisco; and sisters, Jean Rosheim of St. Paul and Carol Hildebrand of Sun City, Arizona.

Fonda M. Pals

January 12, 2006

Fonda Mae Pals, 75, died on Friday, January 6, 2006, at the Belmond Medical Center.

Funeral services were held on Monday, January 9, at the First Reformed Church in Meservey, with Pastor Rodney Meester officiating. Interment was in the Meservey Cemetery.

Janet Pals was organist and Marilyn Janssen was soloist. Honorary casket bearers were Dennis, Kenneth and Rodney Hill. Casket bearers were Derald Pals, Doug Barkema, Rick Martin, Bart Pals, DuWayne Barkema and Delwin Barkema.

Fonda, the daughter of Edward and Minnie Ammerman Martin, was born on July 26, 1930 in the Rowan area. She graduated from the Rowan High School and worked at the Ben Franklin Store in Clarion for many years, until she married Harvey Pals in 1967.

Fonda had numerous hobbies, including quilting, crafts, going to garage sales and auctions, and visiting antique shops. She was a long time member of the First Reformed Church.

Fonda was a very caring person as demonstrated by her care for Harvey during his long illness. She was optimistic during the past 14 months as she endured various medical problems. Her sense of humor will be remembered. Thanks to the creativity of the Belmond hospital staff, she played the part of the Statue of Liberty in the July 4th parade when the nurses incorporated her "neck brace and halo" into a costume.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2003; and brother, Gerold Martin.

Fonda is survived by her stepdaughter, Iva Jeanne (Erwin) Hill of Albert Lea, Minnesota; sisters, Shirley Olson, Barbara Range and Joyce Entgelmeier; grandchildren, Dennis, Kenneth and Rodney Hill; and great-grandchildren, Elliott, Cameren, Sydnee and Brady Hill.

Elmer F. Larsen

January 17, 2006

Elmer F. Larsen, 94, of Alexander, died on Monday, January 9, 2006, at the Belmond Health Care Center.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 12, at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home, with burial in the Alexander Cemetery.

Elmer Fred, the son of Fred and Lotti Bell Larsen, was born on March 16, 1911, on the family farm north of Alexander. He graduated from the Alexander High School in 1930 and started farming and driving a school bus.

Elmer married Eva Barkema on March 13, 1946. They made their home on the farm north of Alexander. Some of Elmer's hobbies included collecting antiques and attending summer time fairs and parades.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife in 2001; and two brothers.

Elmer is survived by his sons, Rick (Linda) of Osage, Harold (Angela) of Rochester, Minnesota and Paul of Cambridge; four grandchildren; one step-grandchild; two great-grandchildren; brother, Raymond Larsen of Alexander; and special friend, Audrey Arends of Belmond.

Maxine Thompson

January 17, 2006

Maxine Thompson, 90, of Belmond, died on Thursday, January 12, 2006, at the Belmond Medical Center.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 14, at the United Church of Christ Congregational in Belmond, with Pastor Lynne Spencer-Smith officiating. Interment will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion at a later date.

Maxine, the daughter of Lewis and Mabel Thompson Bell, was born on January 17, 1915 in Clarion. She graduated from the Clarion Schools and attended the American Institute of Business in Des Moines.

On May 9, 1936, she married Eugene I. Nagle at the Plymouth Congregational Church in Des Moines. They had two sons, Larry born in 1939 and Mark born in 1948. Maxine joined the Women's Army Corps in 1943 and served for almost three years. She lived in Clarion and worked for the First National Bank. In 1951 she moved to a farm southwest of Mason City. She continued farming until retiring in 1978 when she moved into town and traveled most of the time.

Maxine moved to Clear Lake in 1980. Gene died on June 5, 1985. On June 12, 1987, she married R. B. Thompson of Belmond.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; and infant son, Larry.

Maxine is survived by her husband, Richard; son, Mark (Beth) Nagle; step-son, Dudley (Concha Delgado) Thompson; and granddaughters, Adrienne Nagle of Omaha and Erin Nagle of Las Vegas.

Pauline C. Williams

January 17, 2006

Pauline Catherine Williams, 81, of Dows, died of cancer on Friday, January 13, 2006, at the Hampton Health Care Center.

A memorial service was held on Monday, January 16, at the First Lutheran Church in Dows, with Rev. William Straka officiating. Interment was in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Dows.

Pauline was born on October 30, 1924 in Martinsburg, the daughter of Paul and Katie (Shafer) Johnson. She grew up in Hedrick and graduated from the Hedrick High School. She married Clark E. Williams on July 4, 1945 in Oskaloosa. Pauline was in the ice cream retail business for 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and son, Mark.

Survivors include her husband; daughters, Rella (Duane) Fanselow and Zella Charlson, both of Dows; brothers, Earl Johnson of Montezuma and William Johnson of Preston, Missouri; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Marjorie Malek

January 26, 2006

Marjorie Malek, 87, died on Friday, January 13, 2006, at her home in Lamont, Illinois. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 18, 2006.

Marjorie was born on August 6, 1918, the daughter of Harvey and Elizabeth Christenson. She graduated from the Goodell High School in 1935 and married Rudy Malek in 1940.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Phyllis and Iris; and brother, Stanley.

Survivors include her son, Craig Malek; daughter, Nancy Rotts; and sister, Beverly Brown of Aurora, Colorado.

Minnie Mennenga

January 17, 2006

Minnie Mennenga, 94, of Belmond, died on Saturday, January 14, 2006, at the Belmond Medical Center Hospice unit.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday morning, January 18, at the Immanuel Reformed Church, rural Belmond, with Rev. Rob Ford officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Minnie was born on July 30, 1911, to Dick and Elizabeth (Kuper) Pals on a farm east of Belmond. She attended country school through the eighth grade. She worked as a housekeeper for other area families for a number of years.

On March 5, 1936, she married Carl Mennenga at the Immanuel Reformed Parsonage. They farmed east of town for 37 years and retired to Belmond in 1973.

Minnie was an active member at the Immanuel Reformed where she taught catechism and was a member of the Ladies' Guild. She was a member of the Senior Citizens and the Over 60's Club. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, embroidery and playing cards with family and friends. She and Carl enjoyed fishing in Minnesota several times a year. Her grandchildren remember her babysitting and playing games with them, and the family will always cherish the memories of her pies and cakes.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1998; daughter, Betty Wenzel; an infant daughter; great-granddaughter, Morgan; six sisters; and five brothers.

Survivors include her daughters, Carol (William) Lockett of Belmond and Velda (Gary) Steenblock of Kanawha; son, Douglas (Diana) Mennenga of Clemmons, North Carolina; grandchildren, Kim (Jon) Gifford, Karleen (Mike) Fournier, Karmen (Josh Maros) Dahl, Kristen (Ken) Paxton, Annette (Mark) Greenwood, Dawn (Jon) Eckhoff, Lisa (Mike) Ver Helst, Kevin (Shery) Steenblock, Tammy (Bill) Freerks and Todd (Dawn) Mennenga; great-grandchildren, Katie Gifford, Alex Gifford, Merissa Meints, Austin Meints, Drew Dahl, Luke Paxton, Halie Greenwood, Brooke Greenwood, Grant Eckhoff, Emily Eckhoff, Jacob Ver Helst, Dalton Mennenga and Danielle Mennenga; step-grandchildren, Tony Bonjour, Racheal (Chad) Olson, Brandon Bonjour and Whitney Bonjour; and step-great-grandchildren, Justin Fournier, Whitney Fournier, Garrin Bonjour, Ethan Olson, Jose Olson, Lukas Maros and Liam Maros.

Minnie E. Johnson

January 26, 2006

Minnie E. Blundon Myers Johnson, 88, of Colorado City, Colorado, died on Wednesday, January 18, 2006.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 27, at the Home United Methodist Church in Rye, Colorado. Interment will be in the Colorado City Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene R. Johnson; son, Donald Myers; and brother-in-law, Roger (Connie) Johnson of Belmond.

Stork Family

February 2, 2006

A funeral Mass for Stephen Stork, 55, and daughters, Tiffaney, 26, Sondra, 24, and Marcie, 17, all of Pequot Lakes, Minnesota, was held on Saturday, January 28, 2006, at the St. John's Catholic Church in Bancroft. Burial was in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery.

STEPHEN FREDERICK STORK was born on November 12, 1950 at Boone, the son of Frank and Margaret (Ringsdorf) Stork. He grew up on his family's farm near Bancroft. He graduated from the St. John's High School and attended Iowa State University. Steve served as an Army tank commander during the Vietnam War and returned to Bancroft to farm. He married Leslie Frohling on July 22, 1978 in Belmond. Steve loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, farming, car racing and mechanics. He will be remembered for his work with the VFW, American Legion, and pork producers.

On Monday, January 23, 2006, Steve died in a fire at his home near Pequot Lakes, where his family had moved in 2000. Three of his children, Tiffaney, Sondra and Marcie, also perished in this fire. Steve is survived by his wife; son, Jonathan; daughter, Kathleen; parents; brothers, John (Jennifer), Francis (Susan), Thomas (Julie), Anthony (Sandra), Patrick, and Matthew (Jody); sister, Rosemary (Terry) Donahoe; parents-in-law, Eugene and Ardith Frohling of Clarion; and brother-in-law, Gene (Kristi) Frohling of Rowan.

TIFFANEY MARIE STORK was born on August 24, 1979 at Algona. She grew up on her parents farm near Bancroft and graduated from the Buffalo Center High School. Tiffaney attended Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, graduating in 2003. She was a very social, energetic and creative young woman who loved all children and people. She was employed at the Bethany Good Samaritan Nursing Home as a registered nurses assistant.

SONDRA KAY STORK was born on February 23, 1981 at Algona. She grew up on her parents farm near Bancroft and graduated from the Woden-Crystal Lake High School. Sondra attended Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, graduating in 2003. She was a quiet, kind, caring individual and was very artistic. She loved to bake and read, and loved her pet cats. Sondra had dreams of going back to college for her teaching degree in history.

MARCIE ELIZABETH STORK was born on December 18, 1988 at Algona. She grew up on her parents farm near Bancroft, until the family moved to Pequot Lakes where she was a junior at the Pequot Lakes High School. Marcie had a great sense of humor. She was very energetic and loved to run and bake, she was the cookie provider of her class. Marcie was an A+ student and her dreams were to be a math professor or an architect.

Tiffany, Sondra, and Marcie are survived by their mother; brother, Jonathan; sister, Kathleen; paternal grandparents, Frank and Margaret Stork; maternal grandparents, Eugene and Ardith Frohling; and maternal great-grandmother, Gertie Frohling.

Harold W. Hiams

January 31, 2006

Harold W. Hiams, 90, of Rowan, died on Wednesday, January 25, 2006, at the Wright Medical Center.

Funeral services were held on Monday, January 30, at the United Church of Rowan, with JoAn Skyrme officiating. Interment was in the Graceland Cemetery near Rowan.

Casket bearers were Greg Polzin, Dave Howieson, Steve Severson, Jeff Watne, Kevin Hadley, Aaron Fanselow and Tony Holmes. Honorary casket bearers were Tom Groom, Verle Crafton, Dwight Groom, Roger Wenzel and Ernie Nelson.

Harold Wayne, son of Bert A. and Alice (Yoeman) Hiams, was born on March 10, 1915, on the family farm near Rowan. He graduated from the Rowan High School in 1934.

He lived and worked on the family farm his entire life, except for the time he served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He enjoyed cars and bought a new one regularly. In his later years he enjoyed riding his bike into town and visiting at the post office. He was a member of the Farm Bureau.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Dale; and sisters, Pearl Howieson and Doris Hardy.

Survivors include his brother, Ray of Rowan; twin-sister, Hazel Lilleskau of Mason City; nephews, Paul Hardy and family of Clarion and Richard Howieson and family of Clarion; and niece, Connie Severson and family of Johnston.

Norma R. Sprau

February 7, 2006

Norma R. Sprau, 75, of Meservey, died on Monday, January 30, 2006, at the Good Shepherd Health Center, where she had lived for many years.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 2, at the Salem United Methodist Church in Meservey, with Rev. Rodney Meester of the First Reformed Church presiding. Interment was in the Meservey Cemetery.

Norma Ruth, was born on June 26, 1930 in Huxley, the daughter of Nels and Ruth (Johnson) Oakland. She graduated from the Fertile High School and Waldorf College and began teaching at Meservey.

Norma married Sterling Sprau on September 23, 1952 in Fertile. They farmed and she continued to teach. Following a stroke, Norma entered the Good Shepherd in Mason City in 1992.

Norma is remembered by her family as a wonderful cook and baker. Her kitchen was a hub where she welcomed many to visit. She was very patient and decorated cookies with a toothpick to make sure the details were right. While in college, she was part of a singing group and throughout her life she sang and played piano for church services, weddings and funerals. During Meservey celebrations she took part in the Kitchen Lassie's Band. She was an avid Vikings and Twins fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1990; son, Kurt in 2005; and sister, Emelia Pederson.

Norma is survived by her daughter, Pam (Bob) Carlson of Meservey; son, Scott (Jenee) Sprau of Meservey; grandchildren, Becky, Zach and Toby Carlson, Anna (Joe) Dunnwald, Abby Sprau, and Amanda, Casey and Sterling Sprau; special niece, Zoe (Amaris) Myers of Meservey; and sisters, Dell (Bill) Wright of Jewell and Marcie Osmundson of Story City.

Lida A. Eenhuis

Lida Eenhuis, 89, of Klemme and most recently a resident of the Concord Care Center, Garner, died on Tuesday, January 31, 2006.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 4, at the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Klemme, with Rev. Donna Buckman officiating. Burial was in the Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme.

Lida Augusta, was born on February 25, 1916 at Klemme, the daughter of Louis and Emma (Schlawin) Griffen. She graduated from the Klemme High School. Lida worked for a time at the Klemme Co-op. In addition, she did babysitting for various families.

Lida married John W. Eenhuis on November 9, 1939, at the Immanuel Reformed Parsonage. They farmed west of Klemme for many years. John died in 1994.

Lida was very much a family person. She received great joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren and extended family. She loved to sew and had taught many in her family how to sew. Lida was an excellent quilter. Family members will remember her wonderful baking. She enjoyed gardening and was very active in her church, where she was a long time member of the Quilter's Guild and the Ladies Circle.

Lida was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Elaine Stroud; infant grandson, Johnathan Prescott; and sisters, Gladys Olthoff and Mabel Griffen.

Survivors include her son, James (Cindy) Eenhuis of Covington, Georgia and their children and grandchildren, Brain and Cindy Eenhuis and Taylor and Alexa, Bruce Eenhuis of Satellite Beach, Florida and Brad and Stephanie Eenhuis; daughter, Rosalie (James) Prescott of Klemme and their children and grandchildren, Robert Prescott and Cody and Dylan, Jeffrey Prescott and Stephanie and Courtney, and David and Kristy Prescott and Sheila, Skylar and Dalton; daughter, Marilyn (Robert) Roisum of O'Fallon, Missouri and their children and grandchildren, Ronda and Jonathan Hicks and Olivia, and Heather and DJ Adams and Nathan and Savannah.
