HAROLD EUGENE GOETSCH

HEMET, Calif. - Harold Eugene Goetsch, 65, of Hemet, Calif., died Feb. 17, 2000, at the Havasu Regional Medical Center at Lake Havasu, Ariz.

Harold worked as a salesman for Vacation Time in Beaumont, Calif., for two years. He had previously worked with handicapped people in Clear Lake. He also had Gene's Mobile Service and Lake Cab Company, both in Clear Lake.

He was a previous resident of Lake Havasu City for 16 years and worked at Sunshine Auto Sales.

Harold was born Jan. 21, 1935, in Fenton.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Louise, of Hemet, Calif.; sons, Michael Buns, of Ames, Craig Goetsch, of Cedar Falls, Kurt Goetsch, of Fort Collins, Colo., James Goetsch, of Denver, Colo. and Steven Goetsch, of Mason City; two daughters, Patricia Hardie, of Lakewood, Colo., and Lori Scalis, of Anchorage, Alaska; a brother, Dale Goetsch, of Stanton, Calif.; sisters, Sharlene Engholm, of Hemet, Calif. and Cleo Barboni, of South Gate, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren.

Harold was preceded in death by his son, Jeff, in 1982.

Harold was a member of Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, Calif. Contributions in his name can be sent to his home at 235 S. Lyon, Space 34, Hemet, CA 92543, so that many organizations may benefit on his behalf.

CLARION - Janice Simmons, 76, of Clarion, died Friday (Feb. 25, 2000) at the USA Healthcare in Dows.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Christ in Clarion, with Mark Young officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Willim Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St. in Clarion.

DOLLIE FLEENER MEYERS

BELMOND - Funeral services for Dollie Meyers, 82, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Tenold Funeral Chapel in Belmond, with Pastor Lowell Halvorson officiating. Interment will be in the Belmond Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Tenold Funeral Home and one hour before services on Monday.

Dollie (Kelley) Fleener Meyers, the daughter of Mary Ann (Fuller) and George Franklin Kelley, was born on March 17, 1917, at Wellman. She attended school in Belmond.

On August 15, 1934, Dollie was united in marriage to Clarence Fleener at Garner. The couple made their home in Belmond and raised five children. Clarence passed away in 1971.

Dollie was united in marriage to Paul Meyers on March 9, 1972. They lived in Belmond for a short time and moved to Florida, where they resided for 17 years. In 1991, Dollie and Paul returned to live in Belmond and Paul died in 1994.

Dollie loved to sew, both for herself and for many people in Belmond. She also was a quilter, she liked collecting mementos and she was an avid refunder. Dollie had a great love for her children, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

She died on Thursday (Feb. 24, 2000) at the Belmond Health Care Center in Belmond.

Those left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Victor Fleener and his wife, Phyllis, Thomas Fleener and Larry Fleener and his wife, Denise, all of Belmond; two daughters, Bonnie Dirks and her husband, Bill, of Belmond and the Rev. Donna VanLangen and her husband, Gerald, of Webster City; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a brother, George Kelley, of Denver; a sister, Joan Jenkins, of St. Paul, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.

Dollie was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Clarence Fleener; second husband, Paul Meyers; four sisters and three brothers.

OLGA ROSE ROGALLA

BELMOND - Funeral services for Olga Rose Rogalla, 79, of Belmond, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church in Belmond, with Pastor Lowell Halvorson officiating. Interment will be in the Belmond Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Tenold Funeral Home and one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.

Olga Rose (Loeffler) Rogalla was born to German immigrant parents, Margaret (Groh) and Fred Loeffler on Nov. 3, 1920, in Kanawha. Olga was the third child in a family of six brothers and sisters. Olga attended rural school through junior high before the family moved to Chicago, Ill. During her family's early years in Chicago, prior to her marriage, she worked in a bakery and in a hosiery factory.

Olga was united in marriage to Paul Rogalla on July 8, 1939, in Chicago. The couple moved to Belmond in 1946. During her many years in the community of Belmond, Olga worked as a cook in several local restaurants. Olga also worked with Paul in the family painting and wallpapering business. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last July.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, where she was active in the ELCW ladies circles. She always looked forward to preparing chicken and biscuits at the annual church bazaar.

Olga's greatest love, next to her family, was gardening, with which she would spend time canning and trying new recipes. She reached out to many families in the community in their own times of grief. For this, Olga will always be remembered.

Those left to cherish memories of her include her husband, Paul, of Belmond; her children, Gloria Corbin and her husband, Charles Corbin, of Ames, Bonnie Jenison, of Ames, and Paul Rogalla and his wife, Kris, of Indianola; a daughter-in-law, Carmen Johnson and her husband, Dan Johnson, of Belmond; 10 grandchildren, Gina Evans, Allison Corbin, Tami Trotter, Charles Chad Corbin, Judson Jenison, Charles Rogalla, Chanda Rogalla, Ryan Rogalla, Donald Johnson, and Brandon Rogalla; three great-grandchildren, Naomi Hillsman, Maya Evans and Jack Evans; a brother, Karl Loeffler and his wife, Phyllis, of Inverness, Fla.; a sister, Eleanor Zeiger, of Belmond; and a sister-in-law, Iliah Loeffler, of Kanawha.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Charles Rogalla; a brother, Fred Loeffler; and two sisters, Helen Thompson and Mary Schnack.

RONALD L. 'IKE' AMUNDSON

CLEAR LAKE - Ronald L. (Ike) Amundson, 69, of 6032 S. Shore Ct., died Friday (Feb. 25, 2000) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., with

Rev. Dean Hess of Zion Lutheran Church of Clear Lake officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City, with military honors by the Clear Lake VFW.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel.

Ronald was born Dec. 31, 1930, in Clear Lake, the son of Burdette Irvin and Gladys (Hanna) Amundson. He attended Clear Lake High School.

Following high school, he entered the United States Navy and served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. While in the service he was stationed in Japan, Spain, Taiwan and several states in the United States. He married Yasuko Kogima July 24, 1956, in Tokyo, Japan.

After his retirement from the United States Navy in 1970, they moved to Clear Lake to live. He worked at Unisys in the maintenance department until retiring in 1991. Ronald was known as a jack of all trades and enjoyed helping everyone. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a member of the Clear Lake VFW and the National Rifle Association.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Yasuko Amundson, of Clear Lake; son, Rick Amundson, of Clear Lake; his mother, Gladys Amundson, of Clear Lake; two grandchildren, Jacob and Taya Amundson, of Clear Lake; one brother, Jerry Amundson and his wife, Beverly, of Kansas City, Kan.; and one sister, JoAnn Montilla and her husband Jose, of Orlando, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his father.

REV. DONOVAN MULERT

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -Rev. Donovan Mulert, MSC, 77, of Youngstown, Ohio, formerly of Mason City, died Thursday (Feb. 24, 2000) at the Humility House in Youngstown.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, until time of graveside service.

Rev. Donovan Mulert, MSC, was born in Lake Mills on July 8, 1922, to William F. and Alvida (Blomster) Mulert, now both deceased. He attended St. Joseph Parochial School and St. Joseph High School, both in Mason City, graduating from high school in 1941. The following year, he entered the United States Army, serving in Australia and the South Pacific until his honorable discharge in 1946. He began a pre-novitiate year of studies at Sacred Heart Seminary, Shelby, Ohio, and completed a year of novitiate in Reading, Pa., and Shelby, Ohio, making first profession of vows in 1948. He continued his studies for the priesthood at Sacred Heart Seminary, professing perpetual vows in 1951.

Father Don was ordained a priest by Bp. George Rehring, D.D., in Toledo, Ohio, on May 29, 1954. After additional postgraduate study at the Catholic University, Washington, D.C., he was appointed assistant novice master in Youngstown, where he also carried on parish and hospital ministry. In 1956, he was transferred to the MSC community in Sparta, Wis., where he continued parish substitute and hospital work in Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Iowa, Illinois and Pennsylvania. In 1961, he was assigned as parochial vicar at St. John the Baptist Parish, Revere, Pa. In 1969, he was appointed parochial vicar at St. Christine's Parish, Youngstown. In 1970, Father Don began a ministry as hospital chaplain at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center in Youngstown, which he continued full-time until 1989. To prepare for this work, he completed two units of Clinical Pastoral Education at Minnesota State Hospital, Willmar, Minn., and Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, from 1977 to 1979. Since 1989, he has worked at the hospital on a part-time basis. When not engaged in his work at the hospital, Father Don enjoyed gardening and horticulture.

Father Mulert is survived by two brothers, Vincent Mulert and his wife, Doris, and Marwood Mulert; one sister, Lavonne Peterson and her husband, Royden, all of Mason City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

RICHARD J. "DICK" HEIDENREICH

MASON CITY - Richard J. "Dick" Heidenreich, 65, of Mason City, died Friday (Feb. 25, 2000) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with the Rev. Dennis Cahill officiating. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the Richard Heidenreich Memorial Fund.

Dick was born Feb. 18, 1935, in Manly, the son of Clarence Philip and Alma Henrietta (Mostrom) Heidenreich. He graduated from Manly High School and attended Iowa State University until he enlisted in the United States Army in January 1956. He served for two years in Korea and returned to Mason City after his honorable discharge.

Dick was united in marriage to Donna Mae Lewis on June 7, 1958, at Sacred Heart Church in Manly. He graduated from Hamilton Business College and worked for a few years at Oliver Company in Charles City. He then went to work as a supervisor for A.C. Nielson Company in Mason City. In 1986, the company transferred him to Fond du Lac, Wisc., where he worked until his retirement in 1994. In 1997, Dick and Donna returned to Mason City, where he spent his free time golfing, bowling and spending time with family.

Dick is survived by his wife, Donna, of Mason City; two sons, John Heidenreich of Iowa City and Michael Heidenreich and his wife, Jennifer, of Arlington Heights, Ill.; two sisters, Dolores Nelson of Forest City and Joan Graham and her husband, Gene, of Dayton, Ohio; one aunt, Camillus Baker of Mason City; one brother-in-law, Tom Lewis and his wife, Jan, of Mason City; one sister-in-law, Bea Lewis and her husband, Terry, of Harpers Ferry; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Don Nelson.

HARVEY HERMAN OLTMAN

SHEFFIELD - Harvey Herman Oltman, 79, of Sheffield, died Friday (Feb. 25, 2000) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City, following a short illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Sheffield, with the Rev. Remigio P. Panlaqui officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Sheffield.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf-Grarup Funeral Home in Sheffield.

Harvey Herman Oltman was born July 1, 1920, to Henry and Louise Koenen Oltmanns, near Latimer. He attended rural schools near Latimer.

He married Ione Helen Kuhlers on Feb. 7, 1945, at First Reformed Church in Meservey. He served his country during World War II in Italy and Africa. Following his discharge, he returned to the Sheffield area, where he farmed until 1969. He then worked for Sheffield Brick and Tile Company until its closing. Harvey and Ione moved into Sheffield in the early 1970s. Harvey enjoyed woodworking, was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes basketball fan and was a general handyman. He enjoyed the out-of-doors and still helped on the farm. He also volunteered to deliver Meals On Wheels. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0658 in Latimer.

Survivors include his two sons, Richard Oltman and wife, Nancy, of Lake Mills, and Gary Oltman and wife, Deb, of Sheffield; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Irene Matthews and husband, Bob, of Sheffield, Viola Kappen and husband, Kenneth, of Sheffield, and Donna Kreitlow and husband, Duane, of Kirbyville, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Ione, on Jan. 2, 1984.

GARNER - Norman I. Hayworth, 71, of Garner, died Thursday (Feb. 24, 2000) at his home after battling cancer.

Norman Ivel Hayworth, the son of Ivel and Iva (Coon) Hayworth, was born Nov. 28, 1928, in Oto. He attended school in Climbing Hill and Hornick and served his country in the United States Air Force.

On July 10, 1954, he married Dolores Schaefer at the Kanawha United Methodist Church. To this union four children were born: Kevin, Kimberly, Kyra and Kerry. Norm worked as a police officer and town maintenance superintendent for the Kanawha and Klemme communities. Upon his retirement from police work, he was employed at Iowa Mold Tooling in Garner until his retirement in 1991. After retiring, he enjoyed working part-time at G&G Ag and Stellar Industries. He enjoyed tinkering on cars and mowing lawns, but his main love was gardening. He loved sharing his harvest with other people and preserved his garden produce for the winter months. He loved his children and grandchildren and looked forward to holiday get-togethers and summer cookouts. Norm also enjoyed playing cards with his buddies and having coffee with friends. When cancer struck him for a second time, he gave it his best fight with his family and friends by his side. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Garner.

RONALD VERN ADELMUND

ALLISON - Funeral services for Ronald Vern Adelmund, 63, of 302 Ninth Street, Allison, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Reformed Church, Allison, with the Rev. Steven Petroelje officiating. Burial will be in the Allison Cemetery.

Ronald Vern Adelmund was born Dec. 27, 1936, in Parkersburg, a son of Henry and Sophie (Thorne) Adelmund, and died Friday (Feb. 25, 2000) at his home in Allison from complications of a heart attack.

He received his education in the rural Butler County schools and later attended the Parkersburg High School until his sophomore year. He graduated from Allison High School in 1954. As a young man, he was employed as a construction worker in Ames and later worked as a house mover for Don Rieher.

On Sept. 24, 1960, he was united in marriage to Gertie Hinders at Preston, Minn. He was employed for Schroeder Construction in Greene for 16 years and for the City of Allison for 24 years until his retirement on Jan. 1, 1999. Ron will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His interests included camping, fishing and attending the car races.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Gertie, of Allison; three daughters, Judy Yokom of Janesville, Jenise and her husband, Larry Westendorf, of Allison and Kitty Adelmund of Allison; one son, Bud and his wife, Hedo Adelmund, of Clarksville; ten grandchildren, Michael "Todd" Kono, Trevis Yokom, Billie and her husband, Scott Buss, Leslie and her husband, John Groen, Stacy Hoodjer, Scott Hoodjer, Michi Adelmund, Jett Adelmund, Kevin Adelmund and Kody Adelmund; three great-grandchildren, Ashlynn Yokom, Sidney Groen and Madison Stirling; three sisters and their spouses, Wanda and Vern Buchholz, of Tripoli, Carol and Duane Stotler and Kathy and Allan Siemons, all of Greene; five brothers and their spouses, Larry and Lynn Adelmund, of Nashua, Lester and Ruth Adelmund, Richard and Rose Adelmund, Delos and Delores Adelmund, all of Greene, and Alvin and Judy Adelmund, of Clarksville.

MARBLE ROCK - A funeral Mass for Frances M. Dolan, 74, of 2404 Jersey Avenue, Marble Rock, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Roseville, rural Marble Rock, with the Rev. Walter Brunkan officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery.

There will be a rosary conducted by the Knights of Columbus at 4 p.m., a scriptural wake service at 7 p.m., followed by another rosary service. Frances Marie Staudt was born April 23, 1925, in rural Union Township, Floyd County, a daughter of Leo J. and Anna M. (Hermann) Staudt, and died Friday, (Feb. 25, 2000) at her home in Marble Rock surrounded by her family. She received her education at the St. Mary's School at Roseville and graduated from the Marble Rock High School in 1942.

She was united in marriage to Adrian Bernard Dolan on June 7, 1944, at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Roseville. They began farming in the Dougherty area for one year and returned to the Marble Rock area, where they farmed throughout their marriage. To this union was blessed nine children. Frances will be remembered for her devotion to God, love for her husband, family, friends and neighbors. She was an active member of the St. Mary's Rosary Society, ACCW (Layettes), Hi Neighbor Club, Marble Rock Study Club and 4-H. Her hobbies included providing for her family through gardening, canning, sewing and cooking. Her family and friends will cherish the homemade creations from her sewing machine, and the memories of the flavors, smells, and warmth from her kitchen.

She will be sadly missed by five daughters and their spouses, Annette and Earl Simonson of Charles City, Mary Jo and Charles O'Neil of Des Moines, Patricia and Dale Parcher of Marble Rock, Jane and Tom Saxen of Cedar Rapids and Madonna and Tom Bowie of Oskaloosa; three sons and their spouses, James and Donna Dolan of Pocahontas, David and Marilyn Dolan, and Bill and Joyce Dolan, all of Marble Rock; 27 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Cleo and her husband, J. Duane Hebert of Charles City and Ellen O'Connell of Evanston, Ill.; one brother, Leo B. and his wife, Barbara Staudt, of Marble Rock; and many sisters-in-law.

She leaves to join her husband, who died Aug. 8, 1993; son, Raymond Leo Dolan, who died in 1960; her parents; and one brother in infancy.

NORTHWOOD - Otto T. Brunsvold, 88, of Northwood, died Friday (Feb. 25, 2000) at the Manly Nursing and Rehab Center.

Otto was born Aug. 24, 1911, in Kensett, the seventh of eight children of Oluf and Malina (Vold) Brunsvold. He graduated from Kensett High School in 1931. He married Lottie J. Hanson on Feb. 19, 1939, in Plymouth. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. His profession was banking, working banks located in Plymouth, Kensett and Northwood. He retired in 1983. He enjoyed playing golf, coffee at the Corner Post, visiting the bank and most of all being with his family, especially his great grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Sanders and her husband, Robert, of Sheffield; two grandchildren, Scott Sanders and his wife, Lori, of Sheffield, and Sue Petersen and her husband, John, of Longmont, Colo.; five great-grandchildren, April Sanders of Ft. Hood, Texas, Jeff Sanders of Sheffield, Ryan Sanders of Sheffield, Ty Sanders of Sheffield and Jordan Petersen of Longmont, Colo.

KANAWHA - Ben Seebeck, 87, of Kanawha, died Friday (Feb. 25, 2000) at the Belmond Community Hospital.

Ben, the son of Charles and Cora (Abbas) Seebeck, was born on April 12, 1912, near Kanawha, in Wright County. He received his education in the rural Wright County schools.

He was united in marriage to Anna Folkerts Van Dusseldorp on Nov. 14, 1934, at the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church parsonage. The couple farmed in the Kanawha area for many years. He was a member of the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church. He was a farmer all his life, and enjoyed teaching his grandsons how to farm. He also enjoyed fishing, farming and visiting with his family and friends.

Ben is survived by his daughter, Connie and her husband, Don Melohn, of Fort Dodge; two grandsons, Mark and his wife, Bonnie, of Kanawha, and Ron and his wife, Susan, of Kanawha; one great granddaughter; two step great-grandchildren; three brothers, Henry and his wife, Tillie, of Britt, Clarence and his wife, Gen, of Britt, and George and his wife, Pearl, of Sunnyside, Wash.; one sister-in-law, Marian Seebeck, of Britt; one brother-in-law, Gerhard Prull, of Kanawha; and numerous nieces and nephews.

CHARLES WINFIELD HART

IOWA CITY - Charles Winfield Hart, 66, formerly of Nora Springs and Charles City, died Wednesday (Feb. 23, 2000) at his apartment in Iowa City.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Nora Springs United Methodist Church, 202 N. Hawkeye Ave. Burial will be in Rock Grove Cemetery, Nora Springs, with military honors conducted by the Nora Springs American Legion.

His body was cremated. There will be no visitation. Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye Ave., Nora Springs, is in charge of arrangements.

Charles was the first child of Benjamin Winfield Hart and Irene (Bowers) Hart and was born on April 22, 1933, at the Hart family farm northeast of Nora Springs. As a child, Charles attended grade school and junior school in Nora Springs. The Hart family later moved to Charles City, where he graduated from high school.

He married Thelma Tracy in 1953, in Waterloo. He later married LaVonne Santee in 1958 in Nora Springs. They were divorced in 1978. Charles Hart served in the United States Navy in the Korean War. Charles worked for a number of years as a manager for various grocery and convenient stores in Iowa and Illinois. He later retired for health reasons and lived at Spencer Towers apartments in Rock Island, Ill., at which time he became an active member of their residence council. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rock Island. Charles was an active member of the American Legion and a volunteer for the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City. He enjoyed visiting with friends, attending Hart family reunions and collecting information regarding his family history.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda Sue, from his first marriage; his son, Lyle Winfield Hart and his wife, Irene, and their four children of Davenport; his daughter, Melodie Jane (Hart) (Kroeger) Ricketts and her child, of Davenport; one sister, Jane (Hart) (Lowry) Wiseman and her husband, Clifton Wiseman, of Sheffield; and nephew Mark Alan Lowry and his wife, Suzan, and three children of Silver Springs, Md. He was the proud grandfather to five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three of his children, Ethel Mae Hart, Scott Charles Hart and Charles Winfield, Jr.; his parents, mother Irene (Bowers) Hart, and father, Benjamin Winfield Hart; and his brother-in-law, Melvin Dwain Lowry. Charles Hart will be missed.

KLEMME - Donald LuVerne Sellers, 55, of Klemme, died Saturday (Feb. 26, 2000) at his home.

Donald LuVerne Sellers was born July 23, 1944, at Belmond, the son of Donald A. Sr. and Marian (Utt) Sellers. He attended school in Goodell, Thornton and graduated from North Central School in Manly.

He was united in marriage to Kathryn Olthoff in 1964. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1968 to 1971, with one year served in Vietnam. He had been an over-the-road truck driver for he past 20 years and his pastime was his family and making things, from toy boxes, cradles and pole barns, to dog houses, kennels and additions to houses. He loved camping, boating and taking his family with him in the truck. He was a member of the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ, Klemme, where he served as a deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn, of Klemme; daughters, Debra Askildson and her husband, Quint, of Ventura, Deanna Branstad and her husband, Michael, of Klemme; grandchildren, Ciera Askildson, Mikala and Hannah Branstad; his father, Donald A. Sellers, of Hanlontown, and his special friend, Clara Bier; mother-in-law, Gladys Olthoff, of Klemme; sister, Patricia Westfall, of Manly and her special friend, Ken; brother, Bill Sellers, of Clear Lake and his special friend, Shelly.

George Janda was born April 4, 1907, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Jan and Marie (Vondrak) Janda. George graduated from Harrison High School, Chicago, Ill., in 1923. In 1929 he completed postgraduate courses.

He married Sylvia Hodek Caskey on Oct. 2, 1938, in Berwyn, Ill. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1943, serving overseas. He was discharged in 1945. He was employed by Cluett Peabody Company, makers of Arrow Shirts, for 12 years, Western Union for 20 years and First National Bank of Chicago for 11 years. George and his wife moved to Mason City in 1984. He was a 50-year member of Berwyn Lodge 839 A.F. and A.M., American Legion, and the Senior Citizens Center.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia H. Janda of Mason City; son, Dr. Wayne E. Janda and wife, Linda, of Coralville; two granddaughters, Laura L. Janda of Des Moines and Julia Maria Janda of Coralville; a niece, Charlotte Matcha of New Berlin, Wis; nephew, Ray Bauml of Boulder, Colo.; and other nieces and nephews.

GLADYS LYNETTE RUSSELL

KANAWHA -Gladys Lynette Russell, 93, of Kanawha, died Friday (Feb. 25, 2000) at the Kanawha Community Home.

Gladys, the daughter of Austin and Mariane Johnson Espe, was born Nov. 12, 1906, in Wright County south of Kanawha. She grew up south of Kanawha where she attended country school. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1925, where she received her Normal Training Teaching Certificate. She then taught in the rural Wright County schools.

She was united in marriage to Glenn Russell on Nov. 24, 1938, at the home of her parents. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Belmond for several years, before moving to their home place south of Kanawha in 1948. She continued teaching throughout her life, retiring from the Kanawha School in 1965.

She was baptized and a confirmed member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, where she was a lifelong member. Her life was centered on her church. She was a member of the ELCW, Circle Bible Study and taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of the Home Study Club in Belmond. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, having coffee company and doing crossword puzzles.

She is survived by one daughter, Marcia Kreitlow and her husband, Harley, of Kanawha; two grandchildren, Patricia Kreitlow of Ankeny, and Douglas Kreitlow and his wife, Diana, of Kanawha; three great-grandsons, Benjamin, William and Joshua; one brother, Lawrence Espe and his wife, Alice, of Clarion; two sisters-in-law, Frances Espe of Portland, Ore., and Doris Bonte of Belmond.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Glenn, in 1994, and three brothers, Clarence in infancy, Harlan and Leroy.

Winifred, the daughter of Moody and Hattie Tisue Gilmore, was born Jan. 30, 1910, in Norfolk, Neb. At an early age, she moved with her family to Britt. She grew up in Britt and attended the Britt Schools.

She was united in marriage to Leo Hughes on Feb. 3, 1931, at St. Patrick's Parsonage in Britt. The couple lived in Britt their entire lives.

Winifred is survived by one son, Tom and his wife, Rose, of Britt; four daughters, Mary Lewerenz of Santa Clara, Calif., Coleen Davison and her husband, Joe, of Mary Esther, Fla., Michele Horstman and her husband, Bob, of Britt, and Kathryn Smith and her husband, Paul, of Britt; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Forrest Gilmore of Trenton, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leo, in 1976, one son-in-law, Clifton Lewerenz, and five sisters.

GLENVILLE, Minn. - Lauritz Irvil Thompson, 74, of Glenville, Minn., died Saturday (Feb. 26, 2000) at the Austin Medical Center, Austin, Minn.

Lauritz was born on his grandparents' farm in Nunda Township, east of Emmons, Minn., on March 11, 1925, the son of Selmer and Mabel (Larson) Thompson. He was baptized and confirmed in Silver Lake Lutheran Church and attended Silver Lake District 1 country school.

On March 11, 1945, he was united in marriage to Betty Martinson at Silver Lake Lutheran Church. They farmed and raised dairy cattle near Glenville, Minn. They were foster parents to many young boys for many years. Lauritz had been active in farming and horse-related organizations. He enjoyed breaking and training horses. He was known for his great sense of humor.

Lauritz is survived by his wife, Betty, of rural Glenville, Minn.; two brothers, Ernest O. Thompson of Emmons, Minn., and Siram M. Thompson and his wife, Beulah, of Silver Lake; two sisters, Mavis Nordaas of Albert Lea, Minn., and Helen Edwin and her husband, Robert, of Albert Lea, Minn.; nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, many friends, neighbors, Amish friends, foster sons and special friend, Bud Louden.

She married Arnold Arneson on June 1, 1933, in Devil's Lake, North Dakota.

MASON CITY - William "Bill" McElroy, 80, of 929 N. Harrison Ave., died on Monday (Feb. 28, 2000) at USA Healthcare in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 329 E. State St., with the Rev. Paul Finger officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

HELEN A. ADAMS
MEYER - Helen A. Adams, 83, of Meyer, died on Saturday (Feb. 26, 2000) at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home in Stacyville.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Meyer, with the Rev. Joseph Schneider officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meyer.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Sacred Heart Church Hall, with a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. prayer service.

Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, 207 S. School St., St. Ansgar, is in charge of arrangements.

Helen was born on July 24, 1916, in Meyer, to Anton and Catherine (Simon) Neis. She married Roman Adams on June 23, 1941, at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville. Roman died in 1959.

Helen ran the Adams Grocery in Meyer for over 50 years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish in Meyer.

Helen moved to the Stacyville Community Nursing Home in January of 1994.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Anna (Ushold) Neis; husband, Roman; two brothers, Gregory and Ray; and one sister, Juletta.
Helen is survived by one son, Hubert A. Adams of Meyer; two daughters, Shirley A. Smith and her husband, Albert, of Rose Creek, Minn., and Dorothy C. Adams of St. Paul, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Debra Wenum and her husband, Gordon, of Albert Lea, Minn., Janet Pitzen and her husband, Randal, of Adams, Minn., Kathryn Heimer and her husband, Ronald, of Adams, Minn., Edward Smith and his wife, Heather, of Rose Creek, Minn., Andrew Smith and his wife, Angie, of Rose Creek, Minn., Matthew Smith, of Rose Creek, Minn., and Janet Smith, of Austin, Minn.; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Stella Fritsch of Red Wing, Minn., Silveria (Marie) Finley of Papillon, Neb., and Regina Neis of Rochester, Minn.

RAYMOND N. BRUDVIK
GORDONSVILLE, Minn. - Raymond N. Brudvik, 90, of Gordonsville, died Saturday (Feb. 26, 2000) at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, 309 N. Ninth St., Northwood, with the Rev. Paul Holmer and the Rev. Allan Stoa officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood.

Friends may call one hour prior to service time on Wednesday at the church.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to First Lutheran Church or to the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood in his memory.

Raymond N. Brudvik was born on Dec. 14, 1909, in Gordonsville, Minn., the son of Ole J. and Mathilda (Fosmark) Brudvik. He was baptized in infancy and reaffirmed the faith of his baptism through confirmation in Northwood by the Rev. O.T. Lee.
Raymond lived with his family on a farm east of Gordonsville. He graduated from Northwood High School and continued to live on and maintain the family farm. His brother, Melvin, returned to live on the farm following World War II. Raymond worked for the Wilson Company in Albert Lea, Minn. He moved to Albert Lea in 1990, following his brother's death. He spent his last years at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.

He enjoyed playing cards, loved sports and was a devout Minnesota Vikings fan.
He was a lifetime member of First Lutheran Church in Northwood.

Left to cherish his memory are three nieces, seven great-nieces, two nephews and 12 great-nephews as well as other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and five sisters.

BRUCE R. HUBBARD
MASON CITY - Bruce R. Hubbard, 38, of 606 1/2 E. State St., died Thursday (Feb. 24, 2000) at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Robert Towner of St. John's Episcopal Church and the Rev. Wayne Ryan of Rolling Acres Free Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and will continue until service time on Wednesday.

Memorials may be given to the Bruce R. Hubbard Memorial Fund.

Bruce was born Oct. 20, 1961, in Wessington Springs, S.D., the son of Harold and Betty-Jo (Taylor) Hubbard. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1980 and later Hamilton Business College.

Bruce was an activist in the community, serving on the Mason City Zoning Board of Adjustment and the North Iowa Diversity Appreciation Team, and was chairman of the Mason City Committee for Census 2000. He volunteered for many organizations, including Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Bruce married Judy Riekens on Feb. 14, 1989. He enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Judy Hubbard of Mason City; his mother, Betty-Jo Hubbard of Mason City; three sisters, Barbara Jean Mitts and husband, Paul, of Newberg, Ore., Bonnie Jo Eckholt of Mason City and Beverly I. Dutcher and husband, Jeff, of Austin, Minn.; four stepchildren, Gene Elings of Mason City, Jeff Elings and wife, Shasta, of Mason City, Hiedi Elings of Mason City and Michael Holm and wife, Amber, of Mason City; six stepgrandchildren, Breanna, Kali, Joey, Kai, Dameon and Valerie; and his mother-in-law, Lois Riekens of Mason City.
Bruce was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

WILLIAM L. 'BILL' PRICE
CLEAR LAKE - William L. "Bill" Price, 76, of Clear Lake, died Monday (Feb. 28, 2000) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dean Hess officiating. Burial will be at Clear Lake Cemetery with military honors by the Clear Lake VFW.
Visitation will be held from 4:30 until 8 p.m. today at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 North 4th Street, Clear Lake.

Memorials may be directed to the William L. Price Memorial Fund.

Bill was born April 27, 1923, in Garner, the son of Lee Robert and Molly Augusta (Henninger) Price. He attended Garner High School. Bill served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He married Nadine A. Hallett of Forest City on March 8, 1945, in Gettysburg, S.D.
Following his time in the service, he drove city buses in Mason City, owned and operated a Texaco gas station on South Federal Avenue and later worked as an artificial inseminator for the Eastern Iowa Breeders Association for several years.
In 1965 Bill and Marvin Boyenga started Boyenga-Price Rambler in Mason City and operated it until 1976, when Bill and his sons started Price Motors. He retired in 1986.

Bill and Nadine enjoyed spending their winters in Harlingen, Texas. He was a handyman, enjoyed working in his yard and always enjoyed staying busy. He loved his family, grandchildren and visiting with his many friends.

Bill was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake. He was a member and past commander of the Clear Lake VFW and a member of the Mason City Elks.
Bill is survived by his wife, Nadine Price, Clear Lake; his three children, Gary Price and his wife, Chris, Sandy Zirbel and her husband, Jerry, and Steve Price and his special friend, Diane Harrington, all of Mason City; his six grandchildren, Todd Price of Minneapolis, Brent Zirbel of Mason City, Brian Price of San Antonio, Texas, Chad Zirbel of Louisville, Ky., and Jason Zirbel and Lindsey Price, both of Mason City; one brother, Bud Price and his wife, Doris, of Mason City; and two sisters, Evelyn Stites and Leona Torkelson and her husband, Richard, both of Mason City.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in- law, Kenneth Stites.
