Renetta Bentley

TRIPOLI - Renetta Bentley, 86, died Sunday, April 1, 2007 at the Tripoli Nursing Home in Tripoli, after a brief illness.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 4 at Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli. Rev. Eugene Walther will preside over the service. The organist will be June Buhr. Congregational hymn will be “The Old Rugged Cross.” Vocalists will be Shelley Mohling and Faye Elliott. Vocal Selections are “Just a Closer Walk with Thee,” and “Coming Home.”

Casket Bearers are Jamie Meyer, Max Bentley, Ross Bodensteiner, Jeff Bodensteiner, Matt Bentley and Adam Bentley.

Interment will take place at Faith United Church of Christ Cemetery in Tripoli.

Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Rettig Funeral Home in Tripoli and one hour preceding services at the church on Wednesday.

In life Renetta Bentley, the daughter of Adolph and Ernstina (Malzahn) Biermann, was born September 27, 1920 on her parent's farm in Douglas Township, Bremer County. She attended Douglas #5 country school and graduated from the eighth grade. One of the highlights of her education was winning the county spelling bee contest.

Renetta was baptized, confirmed and later married at the Evangelical Church at Siegel, now St. John's United Church of Christ (Siegel). Renetta was united in marriage with William G. Bentley, Sr. on August 23, 1940. To this union five children were born, Marie, William L., Jean, June and Allen.

On March 1, 1941, Bill and Renetta moved to her grandparents (Fred and Mina (Gerfert) Malzahn) farm near Fredericksburg, in LeRoy Township, Bremer County. They grew grain crops, hogs and dairy cows. Bill and Renetta farmed for forty years. Renetta was the bookkeeper for Bill's bulldozing and backhoe business for over twenty years, which was sold to Billy. Then Bill constructed a sawmill for cutting lumber for people and making pellets for local companies. Renetta was the bookkeeper and helper. While the sawmill was running, the Carpentry, Building Material Management, and Construction Technology Programs from NICC would take yearly tours as a teaching tool for students. This business was sold to Allen. On March 18, 1981, Bill and Renetta moved to Tripoli.

Renetta was a member of Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli and a former member of Peace United Church of Christ in Fredericksburg. Renetta loved gardening and canning food, assisting with farm work, card playing, needlework, fishing, bowling, dancing to the Toe Tappers and walking. She enjoyed visiting every state, except for three states, in the United States. She also traveled to Europe, Mexico and Canada (Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia).

Survivors include her children, Marie (John) Slycord, Pella; Jean Bentley, New Hampton; June (Wayne) Bodensteiner, Lawler; and Allen (Dixie) Bentley, Sumner; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Mildred Biermann, Tripoli, Maxine (Ken) Stover, Saratoga; Martha Bentley, Webster City and Helen Bentley, Oscoda, Mich.; two brothers-in-law, George Garth, Webster City and Lloyd Bentley, Crozet, Va. and many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.

Preceding Renetta in death were her husband, William G. Bentley, who died on October 29, 1983; her son, William L. Bentley, who died on April 10, 1997; her granddaughter, Colleen Kaye Meyer, who died on November 27, 1998; her parents, Ernstina Biermann, who died on November 2, 1994 and Adolph Biermann, who died on July 18, 1975; her sister and brother-in-law, Irene Mohling, who died on April 8, 1999, and Harold Mohling, who died February 12, 2001 and her brother, Lawrence Biermann, who died on March 22, 2003. On the Bentley side of the family, she was preceded in death by three sisters-in-law, Violet Garth, Velva Bentley, and Shirley Bentley; four brothers-in-law, LuVern, Gerald, Harold and Gordon D. “Bud” Bentley and one nephew, Kenneth Bentley.

NEW HAMPTON - Funeral services for Reynold Haugen of New Hampton, IA were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 30, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton with Pastors Kevin Frey and Joel Dahlen officiating. Dennis Strum was the organist and accompanied Gail Ives singing “Psalm 23”, “On Eagles Wings”, “The Lords Prayer”. Congregational hymn was “He Leadeth Me”. Pallbearers were: Guy Andersen, Brian Brehmer, Steve Brehmer, Ed Burke, JC Herman, Bill Otto, Virgil Pickar, and Dick Taylor. Honorary pallbearers were: John Bear, Clayton Berg, Dan Deetz, Loren Dietzenbach, Tom Gansen, Gail Ives, Bob Lynch, Bill Palmersheim, Jerry Ptacek, and Bob Roberson. Interment was in Union Cemetery at Atwater, MN.

Visitation was from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 29 at the Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in New Hampton.

Reynold, 72, died Saturday, March 24, 2007 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Reynold Haugen was born February 3, 1935 in Madison, MN, the son of Elmer and Mable (Faaberg) Haugen. The family farmed near Marietta, MN where he attended country school. Reynold graduated from Madison High School in 1953. He enlisted in the United States Army. After his discharge from the service he enrolled and graduated from South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD in 1960. 

Reynold was united in marriage to Jane Keller in 1962 at Minneapolis, MN. They moved to Mankato, MN where he took classes at Mankato State University while working for Williams Pipe Line. In 1964, he became employed at Kraft Foods in Albany, MN as quality control manager. In 1976 they moved to New Hampton where Reynold was employed by Meinerz Creameries, a division of Beatrice Foods, in Fredericksburg, IA as quality control manager for 26 years until 2002. Reynold was then hired by the Amish in Cresco to help with setting up a lab and quality control procedures for Golden Ridge Cheese of Cresco.

He enjoyed baseball and was an avid Twins fan. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time at the lake. He had numerous hobbies. Reynold was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton.

Reynold is survived by his wife Jane of New Hampton; two sons: David Haugen of Rochester, MN and Kent Haugen of Montrose, MN; one sister: Ione Brehmer of Milbank, SD; one aunt: Alma Haugen of Madison, MN; several nieces and nephews; two great nieces; and numerous cousins. 

He is preceded in death by his parents.

SOUTH CHINA, MAINE - Christopher “Chris” L. Luck, 54, S. China, Maine, died Friday, April 6, 2007 at his home.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City.

In Life Christopher Louis Luck was born December 6, 1952 at Charles City, the son of Clarence and Norma (Heinselman) Luck. He was educated at the Plainfield, New Hampton, Wapsie Valley and Greene schools. Chris was a graduate of the United States Army Academy of Health Sciences affiliated with Baylor University, Waco, Texas. He also had a degree in Public Administration and a dual major in Education and Health Care Administration from Saint Joseph's College, Windham, Maine. His medical training and experience included sub-specialties of Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Rehabilitative Orthopedics, Dermatoloy and Gastroenterology.

Chris served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1981. He met his wife, Erin (Keenan) when they were both stationed in Germany. They were married in Sequin, Texas on May 24, 1978. Chris worked as a Physician's Assistant at the Calais Regional Hospital, Calais, Maine from the time of his discharge from the Army in 1981 to 1984; from 1984 to 1989 he worked in the office of Dr. Lloyd Holmes in Iowa. Chris and Erin then moved to S. China, Maine in April 1989 where Chris worked at the Thayer Hospital until his death. He also worked as a Clinic Supervisor for Workplace Health at Sappi Finepaper's facility medical department at Somerset, Maine for the last few years.

Chris was a multi-talented man. He was an accomplished musician, playing guitar and stringed instruments and a wonderful singer. He was also a self-taught luthier, making handcrafted guitars to specification in his home workshop. Chris was an excellent carpenter and handyman, making many improvements to his home, including a large deck and gazebo.

Survivors include his wife, Erin, S. China, Maine; a sister, Connie (Michael) Seifert, Clinton; niece, Colleen (Vern) Blauwkamp, Holland, Mich.; nephew, Daniel (Irene) Douglas, New Hampton; five grandnieces; a grandnephew; many nieces and nephews on his wife's side of the family. Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, William in infancy; a sister, Carol in infancy; grandparents.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Disabled American Veterans of Maine or the Humane Society, Waterville, Maine.

LIME SPRINGS - A graveside service for Esther L. Humphrey of Lime Springs, IA was held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2007 at the Reinbeck Cemetery in Reinbeck, IA. A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 9 at the United Methodist Church in Lime Springs.

Esther, 88, died Friday, April 6, 2007 at the Cresco Care Center in Cresco, IA.

Esther Louise (Sebekow) (Long) Humphrey was born September 25, 1918 on a homestead farm near Medina, ND, the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth (Enziminger) Sebekow. To this union, six children were born. Esther also grew up with two half-brothers, and one half-sister.

Esther came to Iowa in 1939, and was married to Francis S. Long, of Dayton, IA. They had one son, Larry D. Long. They were later divorced. In December of 1947, she married Myron Humphrey from Hudson, IA. They lived in Reinbeck for three years before buying a farm near Lime Springs, IA. Due to Myron's health, they sold the farm, and moved to Phoenix, AZ for five years. They then moved back to Lime Springs, IA where they bought and managed the Corner Cafe for five years. Due to Esther's arthritis, they moved back to Arizona where they managed 56 unit apartments in Youngtown, AZ for five years. In December of 1976, they moved back to Iowa, and lived in the Chester Apartments until they moved into the Spring Apartments in Lime Springs in 1983.

She is survived by six grandchildren: Melissa Owen of Nelson, BC, Canada, Rania Long of San Francisco, CA, Doreen Temple, Timothy Loes, Myron Loes, and Marion Loes of Peoria, AZ; three great grandchildren: Joey and Jessica Temple, and Nile Owen, and a brother Henry Sebekow.

She was preceded in death by her son: Larry Long; step-daughter: Ramola Loes; two husbands: Myron Humphrey and Francis Long; her parents; two sisters: Emma Guminga, and Martha Ward; and four brothers: Herman, Albert, Harold, and Edwin Sebekow.

WATERLOO - Mass of Christian Burial for Gladys M. Koenigsfeld, formerly of Waterloo, IA, was held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Waterloo, IA with Rev. Dennis Colter officiating. Lector was Vince Hatt. Organist was Sherry Peters and vocalists were the Resurrection Choir. Gift Bearers were Tom and Nancy Koenigsfeld, and Eucharistic Minister was Sue Bovy. Pallbearers were: Cody Paine, T.J. Koenigsfeld, Casey Paine, Jerry Koenigsfeld, and Lindsey Koenigsfeld. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Cresco, IA.

Gladys, 81, died Sunday, April 1, 2007 at the Sunrise Hill Home in Traer, IA.

Gladys Marie Koenigsfeld was born December 13, 1925 in Cresco, IA, the daughter of Jacob and Catherine (Arens) Steffen.

On June 16, 1951 she married Lloyd Koenigsfeld in Cresco. He died November 16, 1986. Gladys worked in the bacon department at Rath Meat Packing plant in Waterloo for 40 years, retiring in 1984.

Gladys is survived by one son: Tom (Nancy) Koenigsfeld; one daughter: Mary (Todd) Paine of Waterloo; five grandchildren: T.J., Jerry, Lindsey Koenigsfeld, Cody and Casey Paine; two brothers: Clarence (Evelyn) Steffen and Gerry (Elaine) Steffen, both of Cresco; one sister-in-law: Marion Steffen, also of Cresco; and several nieces and nephews.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and one brother: Bill Steffen.

CRESCO - Funeral services for Thomas “Tom” B. Urban were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at Notre Dame Parish-St. Joseph's Worship Center in Cresco with Rev. Richard J. Ament officiating. Angie Kappes was the lector and the Eucharist Minister. Gifts were carried by Betsy Smith and Rosie Witherspoon, the organist was Suzanne Ollendick and the cantor was Clare Stejskal. Pallbearers were: Ronald DuCharme, Gary Shock, Robert Stejskal, Tom Stejskal, Tony Wicks, Larry Urban, and Joey Urban. Interment was in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Lourdes, IA with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post of Lime Springs.

Thomas, 87, died Friday, April 6, 2007 at the Cresco Care Center, where he has made his home for about the last three years.

Thomas Blaise Urban was born February 3, 1920 in Howard County, southwest of Davis Corners, Iowa, the son of Louis William and Mary Catherine (Falada) Urban. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith at our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Tom attended the rural school near his home through the eighth grade and stayed on the same farm in order to help his dad with the farming. When WWII broke out, Tom enlisted in the United States Army and was assigned as a navigator with the Army Air Corps. When he was discharged, he returned home and stayed farming on the home farm, which he eventually bought from his father and where he and his sisters lived until he needed to enter the nursing home because of his health.

Farming was Tom's life and he enjoyed it until age caught up with him. He enjoyed reading and keeping up with the news until he was no longer able. He was a past member of the Farm Bureau, was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4144 of Elma and the American Legion Post in Lime Springs, IA. After he went into the nursing home, he continued enjoying the activities they provided.

He is survived by his sisters: Mary who was in the nursing home with him, Leona of Cresco, Zita Shock of Waterloo, IA and Theresa DuCharme of West Bend, WI.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Clara Stejskal, Helen Stejskal, and Anne Urban; five brothers: Wenzel, Frank, Cletus, Louis, and Joseph.

CHARLES CITY - Funeral services for Gerald “Jerry” R. Mrachek of Charles City, IA were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 9, 2007 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Monsignor Stanley Hayek officiating. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Friends were to call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday where there was a Vigil Scriptural Wake Service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation continued Monday at the church an hour prior to the service.

Gerald, 63, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at his residence.

Gerald Ronald Mrachek was born July 11, 1943 at Decorah, the son of Clarence and Evelyn (Triska) Mrachek. He graduated in 1961 from Rudolphinum Catholic High School at Protivin. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966. During that time he was stationed at Fort Leonardwood, MO, Fort Devens, MA and in Okinawa.

On December 30, 1967 he married Constance Rice at Cresco. They lived in Charles City all of their married life. To this union two sons Michael and Ricky, were born. Jerry worked at Oliver/White Farm Equipment Company until 1982, Ferch Construction, and then at Cambrex from 1987 to 1999 where he retired due to health reasons.

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, American Legion, life long member of the V.F.W. and served with the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Jerry loved spending time with his family and taking road trips with friends. He was always a hard worker, even after retirement. In his “free” time he kept busy with yard work, cleaning vehicles and doing “honey do's” for everyone.

He is survived by his wife Connie of Charles City; a son: Michael (DeAnne) Mrachek of Kansas City, MO; three grandchildren: Jordan, Katlyn and Jacob Mrachek; his mother: Evelyn Mrachek of Charles City; a sister: Sharon Heise of Charles City; and several nieces and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by a son: Ricky; his father; and a brother: Larry Mrachek.

NEW HAMPTON - Frances Claire Billmeyer, 92, New Hampton, died Wednesday evening, April 11, 2007, at the New Hampton Care Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Lawler, with Rev. Marvin Salz celebrating the Mass. The pall will be placed by her children and their spouses. Offertory gifts will be presented by her seven grandchildren. Deb Speltz will be the vocalist.

Interment will be in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Lawler with her children and their spouses serving as pallbearers.

In life Frances was born Feb. 25, 1915 near Fredericksburg, the daughter of John and Nina (Brannon) Rochford. She was baptized into the Catholic Faith and confirmed at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Lawler. Claire attended rural country schools, was a graduate of the Lawler High School and graduated from Upper Iowa University in Fayette. Claire's teaching career included schools in Chickasaw, Buchanan and Fayette Counties.

On Oct. 2, 1939, at the Holy Name Rectory in West Union, she was united in marriage to Loren E. Billmeyer. To this union three children were born. Claire's career then became homemaker and mother to her family.

She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Rosary Society and had served on the Library Boards in Lawler and Hawkeye. She was always interested in social issues. Claire enjoyed reading, playing cards, designing and sewing clothing and working in her garden.

Survivors include two sons, James (Ruth) Billmeyer, West Palm Beach, Fla., and Robert (Susan) Billmeyer, Omaha, Neb.; one daughter, Rosemarie (Tim) Byrd, Tampa Bay, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Anne Billmeyer, Lea (Patrick) Malloy, John (Dawn) Hale, Amanda (Dean) Williams, Brian Billmeyer and Peter Billmeyer; six great-grandchildren, Jack Hale, Hannah Hale, Addison Hale, Aaron Williams, Nicholas Williams and Jacob Billmeyer; one brother, Merle (Berniece) Rochford, New Hampton; a sister-in-law, Josephine Rochford, Sumner; several nieces and nephews and their families.

Preceding her in death were her husband Loren on November 15, 2000; her parents; a sister, Rose, in 1925; three brothers, Ralph Rochford in 1985, John “Bud” Rochford in 1944 and Jim Rochford in 2005 and one sister-in-law, Lillian Rochford in 1988.


Frank Hurst

ELGIN - Frank Hurst, 76, of Elgin, passed away Monday, April 2, 2007, at Palmer Memorial Hospital, West Union, of a sudden heart attack.

He is survived by is wife, Evelyn, daughter Julie Hurst Breyfogle and grandson Zachary of Milwaukee, and a son, Chase and daughter-in-law Elisa of Florida. Also a sister, Jackie Sanders of Marquette, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Frank was a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls, IA. He and his wife, Evelyn, were married in 1956 and operated a large grain farm and custom farming operation in Howard County for 13 years. He then joined Atlantic Richfield's agronomy department managing several fertilizer centers near Cedar Rapids.

In 1973, he joined Valley Coop, Clermont, as agronomy manager for the next 27 years. He took great concern and enjoyment in the success of his many farm customers.

Frank retired in 1998 to spend more time with his wife, travel, and enjoy nature, his love of birds, and wildlife.

He was preceded in death by is parents, Ralph and Lucille Hurst, two brothers, Willard and Kenneth, and sister Alice.

Visitation was held at Schutte's Funeral Home, Clermont, Thursday, April 5. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Harold, 87, died Saturday, April 14, 2007 at his home following a lengthy illness.

Harold Ingaman Flatland was born December 1, 1919 in Glenwood Township, Winneshiek County Iowa, the son of Ole and Hilda Sophia (Lokkebo) Flatland. He was educated in Winneshiek County Country Schools and later earned his G.E.D.

On October 19, 1944 he married Ardith Madonna Malli in New York City.  This union was blessed with seven children: Harold Jr., Zina, Barbara Diane, Myrna, Sally, Deborah and Angela.

Harold farmed in northwestern Winneshiek County for many years and also worked as a carpenter. He served his country during World War II in the United States Navy from September 1941 until his honorable discharge in October 1945 as a Fireman Third Class.

His memberships include Fremont Lutheran Church of rural Cresco and Helof Holm V.F.W. Post 1977 of Decorah for over 60 years.

He is survived by his wife of more than 62 years, Ardith of Decorah; a son: Harold Flatland, Jr. of Cresco, IA; six daughters: Zina Dotzler of Cedar Rapids, IA, Barbara Diane Lucas of Rochester, MN, Myrna Flatland of Minneapolis, MN, Sally Harris of Afton, MN, Deborah Flatland of Spillville, IA and Angela Flatland of Tucson, AZ; five granddaughters; six grandsons; four great granddaughters; and four great grandsons; a brother: Norman (Lenora) Flatland of Mabel, MN; two sisters: Clara Stegan of Decorah and Elise Stegan of Eastman, WI.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and four brothers.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 18 at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Nashua.

BETTENDORF - Robert E. Welsh, 83, Bettendorf, died Monday, April 16, 2007 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.

Funeral Services will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 20 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bettendorf.

Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery with military honors conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard.

Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Thursday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf.

Robert E. Welsh was born April 13, 1924 in Fairfield, the son of Howard and Almeda (Munson) Welsh. On Dec. 15, 1945 he was united in marriage with Julia O'Neill in Monmouth, Ill. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage and Julia preceded him in death on Feb. 10, 2000.

Bob enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on Aug. 26, 1942. He participated in naval operations against enemy forces aboard the USS Maryland Battleship from Dec. 22, 1943 to Sept. 30, 1945. Bob was honorably discharged as a corporal on Oct. 15, 1945.

He graduated from Parsons College in Fairfield with a Bachelor's degree. He was an outstanding athlete in football and basketball during his high school and college years.

Bob was employed by Mansfield Tire & Rubber Company, Mansfield, Ohio and also worked for the Union Fork & Hoe Company, Columbus, Ohio, where he was a District Sales Manager for the Midwest territory.

Bob was a loving husband, father and grandfather who treasured his entire family. He was an avid sports fan, loved the Iowa Hawkeyes, Bettendorf High School sports and any sport that could be watched on TV. He always remembered every stat of most of the players in professional and college sports.

When it came to driving directions, Bob had the uncanny ability to accurately give directions for anyone traveling virtually anywhere. In his many travels he made many friends and all have known him as SOB (Sweet Ole Bob).

Memberships included Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2271 of Fairfield, American Legion and Elks Lodge.

Surviving are his sons, Michael (Fran) Welsh, Rockford, Ill., Dan Welsh, LeClaire, Tim (Bettie) Welsh, New Caney, Texas; daughters, Ellen Welsh and Loretta (Larry) Thompson, Bettendorf, Julianne (Bill) Kout, Lawler, Joanne (Jim) Grove, Findlay, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Nita Snook, Laguna Niguel, Calif.

Preceding him in death in addition to his wife, Julia were his parents and a sister, Vivian McMican.

Memorials may be made to the Dr. Motto Kidney Dialysis Foundation.

ELMA - Lucile N. Jordan, 89, Elma, died Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 20 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Elma, with Pastor Michael Parris officiating. Georgia Schmidt will be organist and accompany those in attendance in singing “the Old Rugged Cross”, “In the Garden” and “Amazing Grace”.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Elma, with Dick Wright, Richard Block, Dennis O'Brien, Gary Ries, Edward Buls and John Pickar serving as casket bearers.

Visitation was Thursday, April 19 from 5-8 p.m. at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home, Elma, and for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Lucile Nettie (Schrieber) Jordan was born June 21, 1917 to John and Minnie (Cords) Schrieber in West Brook, Minn. She graduated from West Brook High School in 1935. Lucile cleaned houses and worked on the family farm. Later she moved into West Brook and enjoyed helping her dad at the West Brook City Park and working at the café.

On Dec. 18, 1945, Lucile was united in marriage with Joe Jordan in West Brook. In 1949 they moved to Elma. She enjoyed helping on the farm until they retired to Elma in 1974. Lucile was a custodian with Joe at the Elma School. She also cleaned for Doctor Rainey for 12 years. Lucile loved to bake cookies and share them with her neighbors. She also enjoyed gardening, canning and playing cards. Joe passed away on July 19, 1997. Lucille entered Colonial Manor in 2006. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Elma.

Survived by one daughter, Linda Dundee, Elma; one granddaughter, Joleen (James) Burgart, Elma; one grandson, Jon Dundee, Elma. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Joe, twin sons, Darwin and Darrel; brother, Bill; sister-in-law, Nona; two nephews, Bill and Bob Schrieber.

STORM LAKE - Evelyn “Evie” Parker, 66, formerly of New Hampton, died Thursday, April 12, 2007 at Mercy Hospital in Sioux City. Funeral Services were held Tuesday, April 17 in Storm Lake.

Survivors include her husband, Frank; a daughter Molly (Dennis) Montag; a son, Jamie Gailey; grandchildren Andrew and Travis Montag; brothers, Mike Whalen and Syl Whalen.

Preceding her in death were a daughter, Melissa Gailey; son, Robby Parker; parents, Terrance (Dub) and Marie Whalen; brother, Pat Whalen.
