Adella Kostohryz 

Funeral services for Adella Kostohryz of Cresco were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 5 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin. Rev. Allen M. Schmitt officiated. Interment was in Holy Trinity Church Cemetery. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Adella, 75, died Sunday, July 2, 2000 at the Cresco Care Center where she has made her home since October 8, 1999.

Adella Rose Kostohryz was born in Winneshiek County, near Spillville, on October 8, 1924 the daughter of Frank J. and Rose (Milota) Hrdlicka. She attended the rural school and helped her parents on the family farm.

On July 8, 1946 she married Frank Kostohryz at the Holy Trinity Church in Protivin, and they began their married life on the farm where they still reside.

She enjoyed the farm life, liked gardening and growing flowers. She also did a lot of cooking which started her hobby of collecting cookbooks.

Adella was a member of the Holy Trinity Church, the Holy Trinity Rosary Society, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #605 of Protivin, the Sunshine Homemakers Club and the Farm Bureau.

Adella is survived by her husband Frank; one son: Larry of Cresco; one daughter: Sharon Kostohryz of Rochester, MN; two grandchildren; her mother: Rose Hrdlicka of Cresco; one brother: Leonard Hrdlicka of Cresco; and one sister: Wilma Sobolik also of Cresco.

Adella was preceded in death by her father, and one sister: Mary Ann Hrdlicka in infancy.

 

 

 


A.C. Weinkauf

Funeral services for A.C. “Bob” Weinkauf were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 7 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco. Rev. Bruce Hobert officiated. Interment was in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Honorary pall bearers were: Loren Magnus, Leonard G. Lopez Jr., Marvin Gunderson, Cecil Conry, Lawrence Peters and Leonard Robinson. Pall bearers were: Gilbert Pecinovsky, Brock Kappes, Quentin Vsetecka, Michael Weinkauf, Brent Kappes and Leon Gunderson. Lindstrom Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Bob, 78, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000 at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco.

Adelbert Charles Weinkauf was born July 28, 1921 in Howard County, the youngest son of Albert W. and Anna (Hetzel) Weinkauf. He was baptized at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Granger, MN and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco where he has been a member since 1932.

He attended rural school in Albion Township until moving to Cresco and then attending Cresco High School graduating in 1940.

During World War II Bob served in the U.S. Army Air Force for three years and four months, serving two years and a month of that in England with the 8th Air Force. He entered the service on September 30, 1942 and was discharged on January 30, 1946. He worked for the Howard County Treasurer for two years, then for the state of Iowa for seven years. Bob worked for the Hawkeye Tri-County REC for 28 years retiring in 1981. Following his retirement he has driven trailers for Don Gooder Distributing Co. and cars for Robinson Motors and Cresco Motor Company of Cresco.

Bob enjoyed spending winter months in Hawaii.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers: Alvin, Wesley, Clifford, Vernon and Gordon.


Leona Jacoby

Funeral services for Leona Jacoby of Elma were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 8 at Immaculate Conception Church in Elma. Rev. John Moser officiated. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery. Her three daughters placed the pall. Pall bearers were: Todd, Joe and Richard Jacoby, Jr., Amy Meirick, Jason Cartney, Robert Hackman, Jeffery Quinn and Jammie Spitzner. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Leona, 86, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000 at Colonial Manor Home in Elma of natural causes.

Leona Helen Jacoby was born December 11, 1913 at rural New Hampton, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Lasche) Hoverman. She was a graduate of St. William’s High School in Alta Vista.

On January 31, 1933 she married Merle Jacoby at Alta Vista. Following their marriage, they farmed north of Elma until retiring and making their residence in Elma.

Leona was a cook for the Immaculate Conception school lunch program and later the Maindiner Cafe in New Hampton. She was cook for Colonial Manor in later years and also worked at Comprehensive Systems in Elma.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and the Rosary Society. She loved to travel, play cards, garden and bowl.

Leona is survived by four sons: Francis of Waterloo, James of Evansdale, Richard of Victor and Danny of Waterloo; three daughters: Kathleen Hackman of New Hampton, Sandra Quinn of Glenville, MN, and Mary Jean Cartney of Chisago City, MN; 24 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Leona was preceded in death by her husband Merle on September 13, 1990; two sons: Wayne and John Edward (a twin of James) in infancy; one sister: Marie Klobassa; and three brothers: Ed, Aloysius and Carl Hoverman.

 


Patricia DeWalle

Funeral services for Patricia DeWalle of Charles City were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 11 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. Rev. Msgr. Stanley J. Hayek officiated. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Cresco. Hauser Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Patricia, 79, died Friday, July 7, 2000 at her home in Charles City.

Patricia Elizabeth DeWalle was born March 22, 1921 in Blackhawk County, the daughter of George and Elizabeth Moran. She graduated from the Eagle Center High School.

On August 8, 1942 she married Urban DeWalle at Cresco. In 1958 they moved to Charles City. Urban died on September 21, 1996. Patricia worked at the Floyd County Assessors office for 24 years.

Patricia is survived by one son: Allen of Downingtown, PA; two daughters: Dianne Kossnar of Phoenix, AZ and Connie Bowen of Middletown; two grandchildren; and four sisters: Miriam Mostrom of Manly, Dorothy Barnes of Monticello, Eileen Lawrence of Winterhaven, FL, and Lois Barnes of Whitehouse, TX.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.


 


Florence Evans

Services were held at Pettit-Davis Funeral Home of Rahway, NJ, for Florence Evans. She died June 8, 2000 at her home in Rahway, NJ.

Florence Evans was born October 24, 1924 in Cresco, the daughter of Herman and Mary (Panoch) Ernst. She graduated from Cresco High School and attended A.I.B. in Des Moines. She was a payroll clerk for Revlon Inc. Metuchen for 25 years before retiring in 1988.

She married William Kellaway of Rahway, NJ. Later she married Mr. Evans.

Florence is survived by two daughters: Mary Kellaway Jackson and Ruth Kellaway Neylon; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Arthur of Austin, MN and Clarence of St. Louis Park, MN.

Florence was preceded in death by one son: William Kellaway III; one daughter: Patricia Kinaczyk; her parents; six brothers: Emmett, Henry, William, Edward, Percy and Walter; and two sisters: Ella Taylor Urban and Mabel Wentworth Rix.


 

 


Grace Anderson

Funeral services for Grace Anderson were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 13 at the Assumption Worship Center in Cresco. Rev. Henry W. Charipar officiated. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Cresco. Pall bearers were: Daryl Schmitt, George Vachta, Art Laabs, Paul Schlindwein II, Tom Vachta and Harold Berge. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Grace, 86, died Saturday, July 8, 2000 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, WI.

Grace Marie Anderson was born October 13, 1913, the daughter of Paul and Isabelle (Evanson) Haugen. She graduated from the Decorah High School.

On February 9, 1932 she married Garnet Anderson at the Assumption Catholic Church in Cresco. When Garnet retired from the farm in 1973, they moved into Cresco where she lived until after Garnet’s death in 1995. In December of 1999 she moved to Edgar, WI to be near her daughter. She was able to take care of herself and lived in an assisted living facility.

Grace was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church and the Assumption Altar and Rosary Society.

She enjoyed playing cards.

Grace is survived by two daughters: Rosemary Schmitt of Edgar, WI, and Geraldine Schlindwein of Oshkosh, WI; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Garnet; her parents; three brothers: Clarence, Leonard, and Edgar; and two sisters: Ella Stiyer and Jeanette Sande.


Edward Kobliska

Funeral services for Edward Kobliska of Alta Vista were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 15 at Immaculate Conception Church in Elma. Rev. Roger R. Rethamel officiated. Interment was in St. Cecelia Cemetery. The grandchildren placed the pall. Pall bearers were his grandsons: Billie, Rodney, Roger, Brian and Tony Kobliska and Daniel Holder. Honorary pall bearers were: Bobbie, Christopher, Ricky and Darren Kobliska and Mark Burgart. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Edward, 82, died Tuesday, July 11, 2000 at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage of Parkinsons disease.

Edward J. Kobliska was born January 21, 1918 at the home of his parents near Alta Vista, the son of John and Josie (Rouchka) Kobliska.

On November 10, 1941 he married Rita Kuehn at North Washington. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Alta Vista area until his health failed and he retired in 1976.

He was a lifelong member of St. Patricks Church of St. Cecelia.

Edward is survived by his wife Rita; five sons: Clarence of Alta Vista, Raymond and John both of Elma, Leonard of Raymond and Vince of Waterloo; four daughters: Dorothy Holder of Tampa, FL, Lucille Curtis of Shell Rock, Alice O’Tool of Nora Springs and Joan Kobliska of Alta Vista; 20 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; six great-grandchildren; one brother: William of Alta Vista; and one sister: Rosella Shekleton of New Hampton.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents.


Doris Morasch

Funeral services for Doris Morasch of Riceville will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 15 at the Old Stone United Methodist Church in Rock Falls. Rev. Deborah Stowers and Rev. Richard Boatman will officiate. Interment will be in Rock Falls Cemetery. Lindstrom Funeral Home will handle the arrangements.

Doris, 73, died Sunday, July 11, 2000 at the Riceville Community Rest Home of cancer.

Doris Morasch was born November 23, 1926 in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Vern J. and Hazel G. (Anderson) Steil. She attended the Rock Falls Community School.

On March 4, 1947 she married David E. Edgar in Albert Lea, MN. Doris spent most of her early adult life in Rock Falls. In 1963, she and David purchased the Rock Falls Grocery Store, which they ran together for five years. Doris then began her career in women’s retail at Lundberg’s Clothiers. She also worked at Buttrey’s (later known as Maurice’s) all in Mason City.

Doris was an active member of the Old Stone United Methodist Church. David passed away February 1, 1973.

She married Donald Morasch on August 12, 1978 in Riceville. Doris, while retired, was very active in Riceville, teaching adult education courses through the school, volunteering at the Riceville Rest Home and was a member of the Congregational Church.

Doris enjoyed baking for the holidays, and decorating their house in Riceville for every holiday.

Doris is survived by her husband Donald of Riceville; two daughters: Bonnie Jennings of Longmont, CO, and Jackie Person of Skowhegan, ME; two sons: Harold Edgar of Rock Falls, and Michael Edgar of Mason City; one step-daughter: Debbie Hendrickson of Rochester, MN; and one step-son: Steven Morasch of Sleepy Eye, MN; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grand- daughter; and four step-grandchildren.

Doris was preceded in death by her first husband David.


Elemo Summmer

Funeral services for Elemo A. Summer of Charles City, formerly of McIntire, were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 17, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Riceville with the Rev. Ray E. Atwood officiating. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery. Conway Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Elemo, 93, died Friday, July 14, 2000 at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Elemo Ambrose Summer was born April 4, 1907 in McIntire, the son of Anton and Carrie (Hick) Summer. He attended school in McIntire and graduated from McIntire High School. He then attended Creighton University, but decided to return to McIntire and become a dairyman. For many years, Elemo milked the cows, bottled milk and delivered it door to door.

On November 26, 1929, Elemo married Christine Marie Hendrickson in Riceville. They made their home in McIntire.

Elemo livied in McIntire for almost 80 years and served as mayor for many years.

He is survived by four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Elemo was preceded in death by his wife, Christine; one son, Wayne; his parents; one brother, Alfred; and six sisters, Lena, Rena, Anna, Ruby, Lila and Carol.

 

 


Christopher Hovey

Funeral services for Christopher Hovey of Harmony, MN were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 15 at Greenfield Lutheran Church at Harmony. Rev. John Hagen officiated. Interment was in Greenfield Cemetery. Honorary pall bearers were: Craig Harding, Al Torgerson, Rod Foltz, Craig Easler and Brian Glick. Pall bearers were: Larry Trende, Jeff Myron, Mark Drtina, Jed Dybvik, Aaron Wemark and Jamie Reicks. Lindstrom Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Christopher Charles Hovey was born July 22, 1974 in Decorah, the son of Leland and Connie (Dybvik) Hovey. He was baptized and confirmed at Greenfield Lutheran Church in Harmony. He graduated from Crestwood High School and worked various farming endeavors after high school. He had been farming with his dad and mom.

Christopher loved his horses: Sophie, Pearl his Percheron mare and Mini Pearl, her colt, and his dog Kate.

He also loved to hunt, fish, shoot pool and snowmobile.

Christopher is survived by his parents Leland and Connie; two sisters: Dawn Kucera of Madison, NE, and Erin; grandparents: Orval and Hazel Dybvik of Canton and Dorothy Hovey of Cresco.

Christopher was preceded in death by his grandfather, Charles Hovey.


Paul Leitz

Funeral services for Paul Leitz of Cresco were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 21 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Granger, MN. Rev. Keith Parker officiated. Interment was in St. Matthew’s Lutheran Cemetery. Pall bearers were: Robert Biel, David Hovey, Stanley Johnson, Jim Zdanowicz, Earl Knutson and Mark Serfling. Honorary pall bearers were: Merland Hovey, Kenneth Billick, Gordon Nagel, Russell Huebner, Donald Wilken, Roy Moran Jr., Elmer Brinkman and Lauren Applen. Lindstrom Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Paul, 81, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000 at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco from complications of a stroke.

Paul A. Leitz was born July 2, 1919 in Granger, MN, the son of William and Emma (Wilhelm) Leitz. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Granger.

On December 27, 1954 he married Loretta V. Stevenson at St. Matthew’s. They moved to Waterloo where Paul worked for Rath Packing Company for 28 years retiring in 1979. Following retirement Paul and Loretta moved to Florenceville where they made their home.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing, trapping and playing cards.

Paul is survived by his wife Loretta; one daughter: Carol Steege of Cedar Falls; one son: Reed Stevenson of Cresco; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Emily Bearman of Waterloo and Martha Biel of Harmony, MN.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Henry; one sister: Dorothy Johnson and a sister in infancy.


Janice Freidhof 

Funeral services for Janice Freidhof of Elma were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 21 at Immaculate Conception Church in Elma. Rev. Roger R. Rethamel officiated. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery. Her children placed the pall. Pall bearers were: Dennis and Mary Ptacek, Mike and Rosie Zeimetz, Bruce and Callie Weigel, Merle and Marilyn Worple, John and Sandy Lentz, and Steve and Sheila Kobliska. Honorary pall bearers were: Jessie Dale Parke, William Kyle Parke and Clayton Tillman Parke. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Janice, 48, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000 at her home in Elma of cancer.

Janice F. Freidhof was born March 12, 1952 at Thompkinsville, KY, the daughter of Edward and Ruby (Abston) Ferguson. She graduated from Monroe County High School in 1970. She then worked as a cocktail waitress at Johnny B’s in Greensburg, PA.

On November 21, 1986 she married Myron Freidhof at New Stanton, PA. After their marriage the couple resided in Youngwood, PA for two years. The couple then moved to Elma where they were currently residing. She worked at Sara Lee from 1989 until their closing. While working at Sara Lee she served as a Union Steward.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Elma and the rosary society.

She loved flowers, gardening, golf, and fishing.

Janice is survived by her husband Myron of Elma; two sons: Johnny Parke of Summer Shade, KY and Cy Joe Freidhof of Elma; one daughter: Betsy Ptacek of Elma; three grandchildren; and one brother: James of Temple Hill, KY.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.


Keith Stockdale

Funeral services for Keith Stockdale of Decorah were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 21 at Decorah Lutheran Church. Rev. James Glesne and Rev. Ole Winter officiated. Interment was in New Oregon Cemetery in rural Cresco. Pall bearers were: Garic Hjerleid, Teri Hoganson, Bob Lynch, Jody McCormick, Bill Neebel and Eric Sorum. Fjelstul Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Keith, 40, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000 at home of carcinoid cancer.

Keith Allen Stockdale was born July 17, 1960 at Riceville, the son of Vernon C. and Joanne Stockdale. He graduated from Crestwood High School in 1978. He was raised and worked on the family farm in Ridgeway until 1985. He then moved to Decorah to manage and later own The Pub until 1995. Then he managed Celebrations until his retirement on October 31, 1999.

On September 27, 1997 he married Annette Bodensteiner at Decorah Lutheran Church.

Keith is survived by his wife Annette; his mother: Joanne Stockdale of Ridgeway; two brothers: Dennis of Ridgeway and Grant of Cuca, CA; and two sisters: Lynn Spalla of Ridgeway and Renae Buttolph of Elma.

He was preceded in death by his father.


Holly Fox

Funeral services for Holly Jean Fox were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 24 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Riceville. Rev. Ray E. Atwood officiated. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Riceville. Pall bearers were: Frank Theis, Rick Bartels, Joel and Laura Pearce, and Doug and Vikki Eschweiler. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Holly, 43, died Thursday, July 20, 2000 of an apparent drowning in Lake Hendricks at Riceville.

Holly Jean Fox was born December 23, 1956 at Osage, the daughter of Jerry and Madonna (Showalter) Fox. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Catholic church in New Haven. She attended school in Riceville and graduated from the Riceville High School in 1975. After high school Holly attended North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City where she received a Degree as an Executive Secretary. She then went to work for Nielson’s Rating Company for three years, then worked for Mosher Door in Riceville, and was currently working for Pearce Telephone Company.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.

She had many artistic hobbies, especially enjoyed making greeting cards with pictures on the computer and sending them to family and friends.

Holly is survived by one daughter: Tera Fox of Riceville; her parents: Jerry and Madonna Fox of Elma; three brothers: Daniel and Karl both of Elma, and Steven of Mareno Valley, CA.


 

 


Jerome Etteldorf

Funeral services for Jerome “Jerry” Etteldorf were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 22 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian. Msgr. Cletus Hawes officiated. Interment was in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery in Ossian. French and Balik Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Jerome, 85, died Thursday, July 20, 2000 at the Oneota Riverview Care Facility in rural Decorah.

Jerome W. Etteldorf was born in rural Ossian on September 2, 1914, the son of Andrew and Regina (Wagner) Etteldorf. He attended school in the Ossian area and was beset by illness at the age of 21.

Jerome is survived by one sister: Joyce Barloon of Cresco; and one brother: Leo Etteldorf also of Cresco.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers: AJ, Dr. Hugh, Peter and Archbishop Raymond.


Mark Costigan

Funeral services for Mark Costigan of Lawler were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 25 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Lawler. Rev. Marvin Salz officiated. Interment was in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The pall was placed on the casket by his parents, sister and brothers. Pall bearers were: Ross Bodensteiner, Kyle Fencl, Tom Kuhn, D.J. Zajicek, Brian Carolan and Bryan Panos. Larkin-Martin-Hugeback Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Mark, 18, died Friday, July 21, 2000 near New Hampton as the result of an accidental electrocution.

Mark Patrick Costigan was born November 13, 1981 in New Hampton, the son of Pat and JoAnn (Hackman) Costigan. He attended Turkey Valley Schools and was a graduate of the Class of 2000. Mark had several part time jobs and had plans for enrollment at UNI this fall. He was active in baseball, football, basketball, track and also played trumpet in the Jazz Band.

He enjoyed his model cars, snowmobiling, jetskiing at the river, and the family pets.

Mark is survived by his parents: Pat and JoAnn of Lawler; one sister: Tracy Costigan of Iowa City; three brothers: Brad of Des Moines, Kyle and Kurt of Lawler; paternal grandparents: Loren and Gen Costigan of Lawler; maternal grandmother: Rita Hackman of Ft. Atkinson; and paternal great-grandmother: Emma Kuennen of Lawler.

Mark was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother: Joan Costigan; maternal grandfather: Leo Hackman; and his paternal great-grandparents: Edward Kuennen and Jim and Ora Costigan.


Helen M. Schneberger

Funeral services for Helen M. Schneberger of Calmar will be held today, Wednesday, July 26, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar. Rev. Donald Hawes will officiate. French Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Helen, 88, died Saturday, July 22, 2000 at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home in Decorah following a lengthy illness.

Helen is survived by one daughter: Bette Riha of Winnebago, MN; two sons: Norman of Deland FL, and James of South Haven, MI; one sister: Leona Rosendahl of Calmar; and one brother: Arnold Sobolik of Cedar Rapids.


Ann J. McGee

Ann J. McGee will be interred at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 22 at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Schley. Friends and family are invited to come share a special remembrance of her at this time.

Ann died last December at age 51 in Minneapolis, MN, after fighting cancer for nearly four year


Marlin Petersburg 

Funeral services for Martin Petersburg of Decorah will be held at 11:00 a.m. today, Wednesday, July 26 at Decorah Lutheran Church in Decorah. Rev. James Glesne and Rev. Ole Winter will officiate. Interment will be in Phelps Cemetery. Pall bearers will be: his four sons, grandson and Wanda Askelson. Honorary pall bearers will be: Judy Bartlett, Grace and Vern Billiet, Doris and Shafe Cole, Bruce and Melinda Hanson and Doug and Jerri Nelson. French and Balik Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Marlin, 68, died Sunday, July 23, 2000 at his home following a battle with cancer.

Marlin “Pete” Petersburg was born November 14, 1931 on the family farm in Joice, the son of Edwin and Mabel (Suby) Petersburg. He was baptized and confirmed at Beaver Creek Lutheran Church, Joice. Marlin graduated from Joice High School.

On December 22, 1953 he married Shirley Nelson while stationed with the Air Force in Kaiserlautern, Germany. Marlin farmed in Joice for five years. During his 16 years with the Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company, they lived in Oelwein, Charles City and Grinnell. In 1976 he purchased an insurance agency in Decorah which later became the Petersburg Insurance Agency. Marlin retired in 1995.

He was a member of the Decorah Lutheran Church, Elks, VFW and past president and member of the Silvercrest Golf and Country Club.

He also enjoyed golfing, woodworking, fishing, boating and spending time at his cabin in Harpers Ferry.

Marlin is survived by his wife Shirley of Decorah; four sons: Wayne of Decorah, Randy of Waukon, Brian of Decorah, and Scott of Madison, WI; four grandchildren; two brothers: James of Hanlontown and Floyd of Clear Lake; and one sister: Muriel Rognes of Lake Mills.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Donald.


Frances Tauke

Funeral services for Frances Tauke of Dyersville were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 28 at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville. Rev. Michael Tauke officiated with Msgr. James Barta, Rev. Ed Petty, Rev. Dennis Juhl and Rev. James Secora concelebrating. Interment was in St. Francis Cemetery. Placing the pall were Rev. Michael Tauke, William, Mary Ann, Marian, Jennifer and Tamara Tauke. Other priests attending were Rev. James Dubert, Rev. Philip Thompson, Rev. Henry Charipar, Rev. Dwayne Thoman, Rev. Jerry Blake, Rev. Donald Plamondon, Msgr. Albert Manternach, Rev. Carl Manternach, Rev. John Kremer, Rev. Patrick Geary, Rev. Herbert Tegeler, Rev. John Ptacek, and Msgr. John McClean. Pall bearers were: JoAnn Schraad, Sharon Kramer, Rita Steffensmeier, Aggie Kramer, John Schilling and Jerry Tauke. Kramer Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Frances, 75, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000 at Mercy Hospital in Dyersville.

Frances J. Tauke was born Septembr 25, 1924 in Petersburg, the daughter of of William and Frances (Rolfes) Hoefer.

On October 29, 1946 she married Leonard B. Tauke in Garnavillo.

Survivors include two sons: Rev. Michael L. Tauke of Waverly and William of Dyersville; one daughter: Mary Ann Tauke of Dyersville; two granddaughters; and three sisters: Wilhelmina Hoefer of Garnavillo, Anna Mae Tauke of Luxemburg and Shirley Connor of Farmersburg.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband Leonard on September 12, 1991; one son, John in infancy; one sister: Bernice Schilling; and one brother: Bill.


 

 

 

 


Mildred Coursolle

Funeral services for Mildred G. Coursolle were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 28 at St. Augustine Church in St. Cloud, MN. Miller-Carlin Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Mildred, 83, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000.

Mildred G. Coursolle was born September 18, 1916 in Cresco, the daughter of George and Anne (Connery) Owens. She attended the U of M.

On August 24, 1939 she married Louis Coursolle in the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis. They lived there until moving to St. Cloud in 1950.

Mildred is survived by her husband Louis of St. Cloud; one son: Thomas of Carrollton, TX; four daughters: Janet Coursolle of Minneapolis, Dorothy Thorman of Chanhassen, Ellen Thoma of St. Paul and Ann Coursolle of Chalfont, PA; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Rose Swanson of San Juan Capistrano, CA, Charlotte Owens of Eagan and Ruth Harrington of Burnsville.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Regina Lyons, Helen Michaud, and Viola Woods; and four brothers: Paul, Bill, George and Art.


Clarence Hageman

Funeral services for Clarence F. Hageman of Fort Atkinson were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 29 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson. Interment was in St. John’s Cemetery in Fort Atkinson. Chekal Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Clarence, 81, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah following a lengthy illness.

Clarence is survived by four daughters: Jean Ebert of Waverly, Gail Lansing of Waukon, Ann Steege of Crystal Lake, IL, and Lisa Gilster of Decorah; and one son: Jeff of Fredericksburg.


Marie Frahm

Funeral services for Marie Frahm were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 31 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco. Rev. Bruce Hobert officiated. Interment was in Howard Cemetery in Elma. Pall bearers were: Don Wearda, Dale Boderman, Tom Dvorak, Orville Baethke, Bob Jensen, and Dan Berentsen. Lindstrom Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Marie, 95, died Friday, July 28, 2000 at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco where she had resided since April of this year.

Marie Frahm was born December 26, 1904 on a farm north of Elma, the daughter of Henry and Friederika (Boyer) Schwake. She was baptized on January 22, 1905 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Maple Leaf, rural Elma and was confirmed in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Elma on March 24, 1918 by Rev. F. Bonosvky. She attended rural school and high school graduating from Elma High School in 1921.

Marie and Ernest Frahm were married on May 4, 1926 in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Elma by Rev. F. Bonosvky. They lived on a farm northwest of Elma for a number of years and then retired and moved to Cresco in February of 1974.

Marie was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco, WELCA, Mission Circle, Friendly Garden Club, Cresco Senior Citizens and served as a Pink Lady at the Regional Health Services of Howard County.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband Ernest on December 29, 1989.
