Arlyn R. Hubka

 Funeral services for Arlyn R. Hubka of Cresco were held at 12:00 noon Monday, November 7, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Cresco with the Rev. Paul L. Weis. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Cresco. Conway Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Arlyn died Friday, November 4, 1994, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. He was 54 years of age. Arlyn R. Hubka was born March 13, 1940, in Cresco the son of Robert Hubka and Georgina Vopava Hubka. He attended the Cresco school. He was in the U. S. Army from August 13, 1963 to July 30, 1965 when he transfered to USAR until August 12, 1969. On February 24, 1973, he married Carol A. Hageman Schmitt. REF: Carol A. Hageman He spent all his life in the Cresco area. He was a painter and had been construction work for many years. Surviving him are his wife, Carol of Cresco; two sons, Gary Hubka of Burr Oak and Steven Hubka at home; his parents, Robert and Georgina Hubka of Cresco; and three brothers, Victor Hubka of Cresco, Wilmer Hubka of Cresco and Ronald Hubka of Nebraska.

Emil Jerome Polashek 

A funeral mass was celebrated for Emil J. Polashek, 69, at 12:00 noon Saturday, November 5, at St. Jospeh's Catholic Church in Cresco with Rev. Paul Weis officiating. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery. Conway Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Emil, 69, died after a lengthy illness Thursday, November 3, 1994, at the Veteran's Hospital in Knoxville. Emil Jerome Polashek was born October 22, 1925, in Cresco, the son of Emil Polashek and Anna Novak Polashek. Emil never married. He was inducted into the Army November 1943 and honorable discharged in April 1946. He served as radio operator and combat infantryman in the Rhineland of Central Europe during World War. He attained the distinction of Corporal, receiving the American Theatre Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Ribbon with two Bronz Stars, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and one Overseas Bar. His education included Parks Aeronautical Engineering College at St. Louis, MO, and De Forest Radio School in Chicago, IL. He worked at Collins RAdio, Cedar Rapids, for a number of years and also Wathan Flying Service, Cedar Rapids. He piloted his own Swift and Luscombe airplanes and he avidly pursued a hobby of constructing radio controlled model airplanes. After leaving Cedar Rapids, Emil worked for Frank Church Radio Repair Service and in 1979, opened a repair business in his parental home. Emil is survived by two sisters, Evelyn Montague of Cresco and Dorothy Chvatal of Beaverton, OR, nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews.

 Gladys Viola Dynes 

Gladys Viola Dynes (nee) Duckwitz Funeral services for Gladys Dynes of Riceville were held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, November 5, 1994, at the Conway Funeral Home in Riceville. Interement was in Riverside Cemetery at Riceville. Rev. John Gilbert officiated. Gladys Dynes, 85, died Thursday, November 2, 1994, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Gladys Viola Dynes was born July 16, 1909, at Little Cedar, Mitchell County, the daughter of William Duckwitz and Anni Winer Duckwitz. She attended rural school. On November 22, 1927, she married Joe Dynes at Many. They lived on the farm four and one half miles west of Riceville unti they retired and moved into Riceville in 1966. Surviving her are her husband, Joe; nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her prents and one sister, Helen Kindschuh.

Anna C. Johnson 

Anna C. (nee) Sanderson Funeral services wre held for Anna C. Johnson, 88, of Elma at 2:00 Thursday, November 17, 1994 from Jerico Lutheran Church. The Rev. Mark DeGarmeaux officiated. Interment was in the Jerico Cemetery with grandsons, Craig, LeJon, Kurtis and Randy Johnson, Richard Hansen and Carl Olmanson, serving as pall bearers. Conway Funeral Home in Elma was in charge of arrangements. Anna C. Sanderson was born September 19, 1906, in Chickasaw County, the daughter of William Sanderson and Anna Vikdal Sanderson. She attended country school in Chickasaw county. On February 25, 1925, she married Karl Johnson. After their marriage they made their home on a farm three miles north of Jerico. Anna worked as a housewife. Surviving Anna are five sons, Charles Johnson of Elma, Walter Johnson of Akron, OH, Marland Johnson of Billings, MT, Donald of Phoenix, AZ, and Waldon of Cresco; two daughters, Sonja Olmanson of Nicollet, MN, and Wanda Hansen of Santiago, Chile; 28 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl, in 1979; three children, Alna Johnson, Dagney Johnson and Dean Johnson; four brothers, Ole Sanderson, Sjur Sanderson, Knute Sanderson and Anthony Sanderson; and three sisters, Margit Jerdee, Clara Njus and Gertrude Jerdee.

 Donald F. Pecinovsky 

Services for Donald F. Pecinovsky of Protivin were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 14, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin with the Rev. Allen M. Schmitt officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery where a military service was held. Conway Funeral Home in Cresco was in charge of arrangements. Donald died Friday, November 11, 1994, at the Howard County Hospital. He was 63 years of age. Donald F. Pecinovsky was born March 20, 1931, in Cresco, the son of Carl Pecinovsky and Clara Martinek Pecinovsky. Donald was a farmer and lived in the Protivin area all his life. On July 9, 1960, he married Marlene Prochaska in Protivin. He served his country in the Army. Donald attended the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin. Surviving him are his wife, Marlene; three sons, Douglas Pecinovsky of Protivin, Scott Pecinovsky of Protivin and Kenneth Pecinovsky of Nashua; his mother, Clara Pecinovsky of Cresco; one brother, Arthur C. Pecinovsky of Protivin; and two sisters, Abbie Novak of Protivin and Pauline Hubka of Waucoma.
