Paulene K. Meyer

 

Paulene K. Meyer, 74, of Aplington, Iowa, died Saturday, August 3, 2002, at Maple Manor Care Center, Aplington, Iowa, of a lengthy illness. She was born December 9, 1927, south of Kesley, Iowa, the daughter of August J. and Anna Meinders Brinkman. She married Edwin Meyer on August 28, 1946, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. Paulene was a part-time bookkeeper for over 40 years for the Aplington and Ackley Sales Pavilion and for Farm Service in Aplington. She and her husband lived on their farm north of Aplington until 1982. She is survived by her husband; one son, Alan (Arlene) Meyer, Aplington; one daughter, Dianne (Curtis) Martens, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty (Bud) Williams, Allison, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Anna Brinkman. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 6, 2002, at Hitesville Gospel Hall, rural Aplington. Officiating was Mr. Robert Orr. Congregational hymns were “How Great Thou Art,” “In The Garden,” and “What A Friend We Have In Jesus.” Casketbearers were Jeff Williams, Bob Opperman, Jim Meyer, Frank Miller, Clint Uhlenhopp, Tony Opperman and Tyler Opperman. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Aplington. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
Peggy Gwendlyn Brinkman
Funeral services for Peggy Gwendlyn Brinkman, 71, of Clarksville, Iowa were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 9, 2002 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Greene with Pastor Gary Hatcher officiating. Peggy Gwendlyn Waid was born April 3, 1931 at Charles City, Iowa a daughter of Rexford and Anna (Wright) Waid and died Monday, August 5, 2002 at the Floyd County Hospice at Charles City after a long fought courageous battle with cancer that she was diagnosed with in October 2000. He strong faith helped her to cope with her failing health. She received her education and graduated from Charles City High School in 1950. Following graduation she was employed at Peerless Photo in Charles City until her marriage and then she was a farm wife and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother all her life. On December 25, 1952 Peggy was united in marriage to Darrel Brinkman at Providence, Rhode Island. To this union were born five children. They returned to the Greene area in 1954 and she and her husband farmed. She was baptized and confirmed on June 5, 1955 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Greene. Peggy was active in many church activities, including WELCA Circle and serving as the chairman of WELCA for two years. She was also a Jr. Lutheran and Sunday School teacher. Peggy enjoyed sewing on quilting days at church. She was also a member of the Packard Club. Peggy and Darrel enjoyed many winters in Texas with many dear friends from 1985-2000. They were active in shuffle board and won several tournaments that they have many trophies for. They loved to camp in their motor home and were active members of the “Rebels” camping club. Peggy enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She especially loved to bake and cook for her family. She also loved to sew for her family as they were growing up. Peggy enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow up and loved attending all their sporting events and other activities. She never missed a home game this summer that her grandchildren played in. Survivors include her loving husband of 50 years, Darrel; two sons: Steven Carl and wife Mary Brinkman of Marble Rock, Michael Wayne and wife Julie Brinkman of Greene; three daughters: Debra Jean Weber of Columbus, Indiana, Denise Jane and Michael Halferty of Numa, Iowa, and Beverly Kay Brinkman of Sumner; eight grandchildren: Rebecca Ann Brinkman, Bethany Jo Brinkman, Rachel Elizabeth Brinkman, Melissa Rose Weber, Miranda Rae Weber, Matthew Ryan Weber, Tracy Lynn Studer and Tucker James Brinkman; two step granddaughters: Michelle Elaine Halferty and Amanda Sue Halferty; one great grandson: Colin Adam Weber; and one brother Frank “Pinky” and Marian Waid of Cresco. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Elaine Carr. Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Peggy Brinkman memorial fund in care of the family. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene with Reid’s Funeral Chapel in Greene in charge of arrangements.

Lillian M. Poppen

Lillian M. Poppen, 78, of Allison, Iowa, died on August 5, 2002 at the Waverly Municipal Hospital of natural causes. On December 28, 1923, Lillian was born the daughter of Aeilt and Ella (Voy) Abbas of Ackley. She was raised in the Ackley area and educated in the Ackley Schools. On April 8, 1944 she was united in marriage to Raymond Poppen in Allison. She was a nurse’s aide at the Allison Health Care Center and also worked at the Allison City Hall and was a Library Aide in the Allison Library. Lillian was a member of the United Church of Christ in Allison, and also a member of the Allison Garden Club. She loved working with and helping people, gardening and flowers. She also loved going on bus tours. Survivors include three sisters: Dorothy Adelmund of New Hartford, Barbara Johnson of Parkersburg and Alda Vae and husband Richard C. Bass of Elk Run Heights, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 9, 2002 at the United Church of Christ in Allison with Rev. Nate Frazee officiating. Special music was provided by organist, Mrs. Cecil Radcliffe accompanying soloist, Burton Sprole. Pallbearers were Steve Shock, Darrell Aissen, Scot Henrichs, Dallas Aissen, Roland Adelmund and Wayne Adelmund. Final resting place was in the Allison Cemetery with Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Allison in charge of arrangements.



Maurice Uhlenhopp

 

Maurice Uhlenhopp, age 85, of Nevada, Iowa, formerly of Aplington, Iowa, was born the son of Dietrich and Irene (Beaumont) Uhlenhopp on September 24, 1916, in Rockford, Iowa. He graduated from the Aplington High School in 1934 and was a pre-med student for two years at the University of Iowa. On September 24, 1936, Maurice was united in marriage with Marcia Louise Meickley at Black’s Tea Room in Waterloo, Iowa. They made their home in Kesley, Iowa. Maurice ran the Kesley Merchantile Store following his father’s death. Later he farmed with his father-in-law and in 1950, they moved to an acreage near the family farm. From 1959 to 1966, he owned and operated the Kemm Rambler car dealership in Aplington. Maurice attended the First Presbyterian Church in Aplington. He was a member of the Elks Club in Iowa Falls, Iowa. He enjoyed working with his hands doing woodworking, welding and repairing cars and occasionally riding horses. Maurice and Marcia joined several other couples in the area who enjoyed flying their own aircraft. They enjoyed vacationing and fishing in Minnesota and wintering and golfing at Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. At 5:15 a.m., Saturday, August 10, 2002, Maurice died at the Rolling Green Village in Nevada, Iowa, of natural causes. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marcia Uhlenhopp on May 25, 2002; his parents Dietrich and Irene Uhlenhopp; and one sister, Valda Pressler. Maurice is survived by two sons, Eldon Uhlenhopp and his wife, Patty, of Ames, Iowa and Kent Uhlenhopp of Campbell, California; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2002, at the First Presbyterian Church in Aplington, Iowa with Rev. Robert Schnucker officiating. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Aplington.

 

Albert Koleer
Albert Kolder age 79, of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the son of Bert and Carrie (Kuiper) Kolder on March 31, 1923, town in Albion Township south of Parkersburg. He received his education from Parkersburg Schools. During Albert’s 11th grade in high school, his father lost his sight so Albert took over working the farm. On December 31, 1945, Albert was united in marriage with Lydia Grace Meester in Cedar Falls, Iowa. They made their home and farmed south of Parkersburg for eight years. They then moved just north of Parkersburg where they farmed until his retirement in 1994. In addition to a lifetime of farming, Albert served as a part time police officer and was a Justice of the Peace. Albert was a member of the Reformed Church of Stout in Stout, Iowa. He served on the board of the Parkersburg Civic Center and helped to begin the Beaver Meadows Golf Course in Parkersburg. A memorable moment for him was when he made a “Hole in One” on hole #4. For many years, Albert moved snow in Parkersburg and loved helping family and friends. He was an avid girls’ basketball fan, enjoyed watching baseball and basketball on television, but he especially liked watching his children and grandchildren play sports. At 6:00 p.m., Saturday, August 10, 2002, Albert died at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, of complications following surgeries. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Sammie Kolder and one great grandchild, Lauren Johnson. Albert is survived by his wife, Lydia of Parkersburg; one daughter, Carolyn Johnson and her husband, Duane; four sons, Robert Kolder and his wife, Donna; Ronald Kolder and his wife, Mary; Randall Kolder and his wife, Roxanne and Rodney Kolder and friend LuAnn, all of Parkersburg, Iowa; 13 grandchildren, Roy Johnson and his wife, Shiloh, Tamara Johnson, Rick Johnson, Tracy Kolder, Tim Kolder, Teresa Kolder, Ryan Kolder, Robbie Kolder, Kari Alberts and her husband, Trent, Brent Kolder, Travis Kolder, Trista Kolder and Nick Kolder; 3 great grandchildren, Christian Kolder, Melanie Johnson and Megan Johnson; 2 step grandchildren, Jeff Sale and his wife, Angie, and Chris Sale; and 2 step great grandchildren, Jeffrey Sale and Angela Sale. Funeral Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2002, at the Reformed Church of Stout, Stout, Iowa with Rev. David Powers officiating. Organist Elaine Schnell accompanied soloist, Stan Thompson in “The Old Rugged Cross.” Congregational Hymn was “How Great Thou Art.” Honorary Casketbearers were Rick Johnson, Nick Kolder and Chris Sale. Casketbearers were Roy Johnson, Tim Kolder, Brent Kolder, Robbie Kolder, Ryan Kolder and Travis Kolder. Flower Committee was Fran Meester, Carol Eilderts and Norma Adams. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg, Iowa. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, Parkersburg, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the family.
George Alvin Schipper

George Alvin Schipper, age 72, of Aplington, Iowa, was born the son of Richard Sr. and Jessie (Marks) Schipper on February 6, 1930, in Butler County, near Kesley, Iowa. He received his education from a rural country school near his home. George enlisted in the United States Army on November 8, 1951. He was stationed overseas in Germany during the Korean War and was released from active duty on October 15, 1953. On December 11, 1953, was united in marriage with Lorraine Bierman at the Washington Reformed Church, rural Ackley, Iowa. They made their home and farmed near Kesley until 1975 when they moved to Clarksville, Iowa and farmed for a couple more years. George also worked for A.L. Buseman Welding and during this time they bought an acreage near Allison, Iowa. In 1986 they moved to their present home in Aplington. George was a member of the First Reformed Church in Aplington, a life time member of the Kesley AMVETS Post # 83, the Aplington Lions Club for 19 years and for five years he served the Hawkeye Valley Agency for Aging. He enjoyed singing in a community choir, solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles and playing cards with his friends and family. In his earlier years he enjoyed fishing trips to Canada, belonging to a bowling league and square dancing with Lorraine. At 3:50 a.m. Friday, August 16, 2002, George died at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, of complication of Emphysema. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Sr. and Jessie Schipper; one daughter, Marie Elaine, one grandson, Justin Dean; and one brother, Arnold Schipper. George is survived by his wife, Lorraine Schipper of Aplington; two sons, Steven Schipper of Parkersburg and Jeffrey Schipper of Aplington; three daughters, Anita (Harley) Harms of Ackley, Lori (Bill) Allen of Ackley and Marcie (James) Breitbach of Waterloo; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, John R. (Clarene) Schipper of Ackley, Richard (Beverly) Schipper of Aplington; three sisters, Bena (Floyd) Bierman of Aplington, Anna (Royce) Harms of Wellsburg and Marion (Kenneth) Nelson of Iowa City; and one sister-in-law, Marian Schipper of Aplington. Funeral Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2002 at the First Reformed Church, Aplington, Iowa with Rev. Harlan DeJong officiating. Organist was Lois Wessels. A duet of Willy and Randy Aalderks sang “Amazing Grace” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Congregational Hymns were “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder” and “Ivory Places.” Honorary Casketbearers were Justin Dean (deceased), Jaicob Breitbach and Samuel DeGroote. Casketbearers were Adam Harms, Jeremy Buss, Troy Schipper, Wyatt Allen, Jeffrey L.F. Schipper and Curtis Breitbach. Flower Committee was Marion Kramer, Millie Ridder and Virginia Dean. Interment was in Washington Reformed Cemetery, Ackley, Iowa with Full Military Rites provided by Kesley AMVETS Post # 83. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Chapel, Aplington, Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the family.


Adam Donald Borglum

Adam Donald Borglum, age 12, of Bristow, Iowa, and formerly of Clarksville, was born the son of Donald Voyle and DeAnn Marie Kraft Borglum on March 9, 1990 in Waverly, Iowa. He had completed the 6th grade at Clarksville Elementary School. Adam was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Clarksville. He enjoyed his horses and his sisters. He died at 1:52 a.m., Saturday, August 17, 2002, at Waverly Municipal Hospital of natural causes. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betsy Borglum in 1983; paternal great-grandmother, Louise Borglum; and maternal great-grandparents, Rudy Engel and John and Bertha Kraft. Adam is survived by his parents, Don and DeAnn Borglum, Bristow, Iowa; three sisters, Kaylee Borglum, Cassie Borglum and Carly Borglum, all of Bristow, Iowa; maternal grandparents, Richard and Vera Kraft, Clarksville, Iowa; and maternal great-grandmother, Vera Engel-Fuls. Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 20, 2002, at the Community United Methodist Church, Clarksville, Iowa with Pastor Allen Poore-Christians officiating. Organist was Paula Miller. Congregational Hymns were “Jesus Loves Me,” “Amazing Grace,” and “This Little Light Of Mine.” Special Music was “Hands” By Jewell. Casketbearers were Josh Meyer, Michael Schilling, Amanda Dralle, Matthew Schilling, Andrew Schilling, Bryce Bentley and Tyler Rinnels. Interment was in Lynwood Cemetery, Clarksville, Iowa. Delbert Maifeld

Delbert Maifeld, age 85, of Frostproof, Florida, was born the son of William and Alda Brown Maifeld on July 5, 1917, east of Hitesville, near Kesley, Iowa. He graduated from Clarksville High School in 1935. Mr. Maifeld and Dora Behrens were married August 3, 1942. To this union was born one son, Gerald. They were later divorced. He married Ethyl Elfberg in June, 1964. She died March 10, 1988. Delbert worked at Rath Packing Co. in Waterloo, Iowa. Leaving there in 1964, they moved to Olmsted, Illinois where he operated a realty, auctioning and antique business. He later retired to Frostproof, Florida. Delbert belonged to the Assembly at Hitesville for many years. When he moved to Olmsted, Illinois, he and his wife, Ethyl were members of the Cape Bible Chapel at Cape Girardeau. After retiring to beautiful, sunny Florida, he became a member of the Good Shepherd Assembly and thoroughly enjoyed their friendship so very much. He enjoyed his trips to Canada fishing and the wonderful trips fishing in Florida with his son, Gerald. The hunting trips to Colorado with his brothers and relatives were all happy times in his life and he enjoyed talking about them. Delbert died Sunday, August 18, 2002, at Dove Health Care, Lake Wales, Florida of complications of Parkinsons Disease. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethyl; a grandson, Randy; a step-daughter, Judy Elfberg Kortemeyer of Davenport, Iowa; and a step-great-granddaughter, Yvonne Johnson of Waterloo, Iowa. He is survived by a son, Gerald Maifeld of Hudson, Iowa; a step-daughter, Beebs Elfberg Downing of Waterloo, Iowa; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; four step-great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Darrel (Betty) Maifeld of Canon City, Colorado and Kenneth (Arlene) Maifeld of Naples, Florida; and two sisters, Margery (Raymond) Roberts of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Lorraine (Arthur) Gadbois of Cedar Falls, Iowa. Funeral Services were held Friday, August 23 at Hitesville Gospel Hall, rural Aplington with burial in the Hitesville Cemetery.


Leola Graham

Leola Graham, age 77, of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the daughter, of Leslie and Mina (Kettwig) Dring on January 20, 1925, in Butler County, Parkersburg, Iowa. She received her education and graduated from the Parkersburg High School in 1943. On May 31, 1947, Leola Dring was united in marriage with Elmer Graham at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They lived their entire married life in Parkersburg. She worked at Chamberlin Mfg. in Waterloo for two years after they were married. Leola sold Avon for several years in the local area. Leola was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Parkersburg. She enjoyed playing cards, cooking, reading, and solving crossword puzzles. Leola liked to go camping, fishing and golfing with Elmer. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing and was quite a seamstress. She loved spending time with her family, especially with her granddaughters. At 1:06 a.m., Monday, August 19, 2002, Leola died at the Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, Iowa of heart failure. She was preceded in death by one son, Keith Graham; one grandson, Richard Graham; her parents; and one sister, Dixie Miller. Leola is survived by her husband, Elmer Graham of Parkersburg; one son, Clark Graham of Parkersburg; and one daughter, Jo Rider and her husband, Tim, of Iowa Falls, Iowa; two grandchildren, Melissa Aalfs, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Miekka Aalfs, Parkersburg, Iowa; one brother-in-law, Doug Miller, San Antonio, Texas and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, August 22, 2002, at Bethel Lutheran Church, Parkersburg, Iowa with Rev. Paul Schaedig officiating. Organist was Linda Truax. Congregational Hymns were “Blest Be The Tie That Binds,” and “How Great Thou Art.” Soloist Ken Kugel sang “Rock of Ages.” Casketbearers were Gaylen Harberts, Chuck Etjen, Larry Young, Arlyn Harberts, Craig Etjen and Donald Truax. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg, Iowa. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, Parkersburg, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the family.


Hilda Sells

Hilda Sells, age 77, of Hampton and formerly of Clarksville, Iowa, was born the daughter of Jake and Emma Hinders DeGroote on December 7, 1924, in New Hartford, Iowa. She received her education in a school near her home. In 1965, she graduated from Pitzie’s Beauty School in Waterloo. She owned and operated Hilda’s Kut and Kurl Beauty Shop in Clarksville for 35 years until her health failed in 1999. Hilda married William Sells on April 10, 1941, in Albert Lea, Minnesota. During their marriage, they lived in Waterloo, New Hartford and primarily Clarksville where they had lived for most of their married life. They had moved to Hampton in November, 2001. Hilda had been a member of the Clarksville Commercial Club for 38 years. She enjoyed collecting spoons, shopping for shoes; her clients at the beauty shop and most of all her kids and grandkids. She died at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 20, 2002, at Franklin General Hospital, Hampton, Iowa, of natural causes. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Emma DeGroote; two brothers, Hank DeGroote and Clarence DeGroote and a son-in-law, Danny Muller. Hilda is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bill Sells, of Hampton, Iowa; one son, Bill (Deb) Sells, Jr., Iowa Falls, Iowa; three daughters, Donna (Fred) Kelm, Clarksville, Iowa; Mary (Merlin) Hibner, Garner, Iowa and Linda (Dan) Brammer, Hampton, Iowa; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jake (Donna) DeGroote, Bristow, Iowa and Wally (Dottie) DeGroote, Golden Valley, Arizona; six sisters, Ann Bartel, Herman, Minnesota; Dorothy Jans, Clarksville, Iowa; Annette Sessler, Dumont, Iowa; Darlene (Frank) Vance, Clarksville, Iowa; Ruth Busching, Clarksville, Iowa and Alice (Jim) Jacobs, Allison, Iowa. Funeral services were held Friday,k August 23 at St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville with Rev. David R. Nelson officiating. Burial was in Lynnwood Cemetery, Clarksville.


Beverly Jean Crawford

Beverly Jean Crawford, 59, of Ackley, Iowa passed away August 22, 2002 at the Covenant Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. She was born on October 29, 1942 in Butler County, Iowa to Kenneth and Lucille (Hopkes) Miller. Beverly received her education from the Dumont Community School. She was united in marriage on April 7, 1961 to Virgil Crawford at the Dumont Reformed Church in Dumont, Iowa. They made their home near Allison, Iowa until moving to the family farm near Kesley, Iowa. Bev was a member of the Dumont Reformed Church. She enjoyed her horses and most of all her grandchildren and spending time with her family. Bev is survived by her husband, Virgil Crawford of Ackley; daughter Deb and husband, Troy Dralle of Allison; and son Terry and wife, Jamie Crawford of Allison; three grandchildren, Crystal and Camie Crawford and Rachel Dralle. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Lucille Miller and two sisters, Janice and Lorraine Miller. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 26, 2002 at the Dumont Reformed Church in Dumont with Rev. Bob Scholten officiating. Special music was provided by organist, Jim Siebrands accompanying soloist, Cheryl Scholten. Pallbearers were Dennis Miller, Jim Siebrands, Steve Winkowitsch, Russell Ubben, Dennis Winkowitsch and Danny Winkowitsch. Final resting place was in the Allison Cemetery. Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Dumont was in charge of arrangements.


Harm Jerry Kettwig

Harm Jerry Kettwig, age 90, of Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of Clarksville, Iowa, was born the son of Claud and Irene Cousins Kettwig on February 16, 1912, Parkersburg, Iowa. He received his education in a rural country school near his home. In 1941, Harm was united in marriage with Grace Mulder at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Parkersburg. They made their home in Parkersburg and then moved to a farm near Clarksville in the mid 1940’s. They moved into Clarksville in the early 1970’s. Harm enjoyed farming all of his life. Harm was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville. He enjoyed woodworking and travelling. At 12:10 a.m., Thursday, August 15, 2002, Harm died in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Grace; one sister; and one brother. Harm is survived by one son, Kenneth Kettwig of Clarksville; one daughter, Betty Shelton and her husband, Gary, of Las Vegas, Nevada; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Graveside Services were at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 22, 2002, at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg, Iowa. Rev. Paul Schaedig was officiating the service.


Dena Miller

Dena Miller, 92, of Allison, Iowa passed away August 24, 2002 at the Dumont Care Center. She was born November 2, 1909 in Butler County, Iowa to Harm and Henrietta (August) Penning. Dena attended country schools in Butler County. On January 30, 1929, she married Rube Miller in Dumont, Iowa. Dena was a farm wife, and a member of the Dumont Reformed Church. She enjoyed working on the farm, raising geese and chickens. Dena also enjoyed crocheting, quilting, reading, and going to and listening to her son Richrd’s country band. Dena is survived by her granddaughter, Marilee and hus-band, Harley Knapp of Dumont; and great grandson, Kurt Knapp of Dumont. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rube, son Richard, three sisters and two brothers. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2002 at the Dumont Reformed Church with Rev. Bob Scholten officiating. Special music was provided by organist, Jim Siebrands accomp-anying soloist, Cheryl Scholten.

Pallbearers were Kurt Knapp, Jim Franke, Russell Penning, Darwin Penning, Russell Newhall and Lloyd VanEllen. Final resting place was in the Dumont Cemetery with Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Dumont in charge of arrangements.
